LONDON, Ont. cheap jerseys from china . -- Anthony Mantha was a goal-a-game man in the regular season and the playoffs for the Val-dOr Foreurs. The 19-year-old from Longueil, Que., was rewarded for that consistency with the Canadian Hockey Leagues player-of-the year award Saturday. Mantha had 81 goals in 81 games and added another 77 assists for the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League champion Foreurs. "For sure Im proud of that," the towering winger said. "Its a lot of goals, but the credit needs to come back to my teammates that helped me out through this year. "I think it was just a great season. I put a lot of pressure on myself by leading the team on the ice, off the ice also." Mantha was chosen for the CHLs top individual trophy ahead of Western Hockey League nominee Sam Reinhart of the Kootenay Ice and the Ontario Hockey Leagues Connor Brown of the Erie Otters. Brown was the CHLs top scorer in the regular season with 45 goals and 83 assists in 68 games. Reinhart earned the CHLs sportsmanlike award for recording just 11 minutes in penalties during the season. Mantha accepted the top-player award not long after the Foreurs were eliminated from the MasterCard Memorial Cup. The Foreurs fell 4-3 in triple overtime to the Edmonton Oil Kings in Fridays semifinal. The game was the longest game in Memorial Cup history at 102 minutes 42 seconds of play. Manthas teammates had already departed for Val-dOr on Saturday morning, but the right-winger remained in London to accept the player-of-the-year trophy. "It does feel weird," Mantha acknowledged. "Today, its an individual trophy that I won. For sure, I would have liked way better the trophy from (Sunday), but I mean Ill take this one. "Its a trophy that my teammates helped me out to win this year and I need to give them the credit." Mantha, six foot five and 204 pounds, finished the Memorial Cup with a goal and three assists. His was the lone goal in a 1-0 win over the host Knights to open the tournament. Mantha was drafted in the first round and 20th overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2013 NHL entry draft. Foreurs coach Mario Durocher said during the Memorial Cup that Mantha returned from his first NHL training camp a changed player. "Last year, I would say a lot of critics were on my consistency level," Mantha said. "When I went to Detroit they tried to put that mentality in me and I think it did work for this year. I came back with that attitude and it was just a great thing for me." He was also Canadas top scorer at this years world junior hockey championship with five goals and six assists in six games. Previous winners of the CHLs top-player award include Jonathan Drouin (2013), Jordan Eberle (2011), John Tavares (2007), Sidney Crosby (2004, 2005), Brad Richards (2000), Eric Lindros (1991) and Joe Sakic (1988). "Its a great award to win and I think its something thats going to stay in mind for a few months if not for a few years, but I need to pass to another level in my career," Mantha said. "I think Ill be ready for it." Derrick Pouliot of the Western Hockey Leagues Portland Winterhawks was named the CHLs top defenceman. The Pittsburgh Penguins prospect had 70 points in 58 games with a plus-minus of plus-40. Jordan Cooke of the Kelowna Rockets earned the trophy for best goaltender. The 20-year-old posted a record of 39-7-0-4 with a goals-against average of 2.28 and a save percentage of .922, Halifax Mooseheads forward Nikolaj Ehlers was chosen top rookie. The 18-year-old from Denmark had a plus-minus rating of plus-65 while contributing 49 goals and 53 assists in 63 games. The coaching award went to Eric Veilleux of the Baie-Comeau Drakkar, who reached the QMJHL final before falling in seven games to Val-dOr. Kingston Frontenacs forward Sam Bennett was selected the top NHL prospect. He is ranked first overall among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting for the draft next month. Erie Otter forward Connor McDavid won the scholastic award with an 87 per cent average in his second semester of Grade 11. Moose Jaw Warriors captain Sam Fioretti was recognized for his humanitarian work off the ice. He works with Moose Jaw police in their anti-bullying program. wholesale nfl jerseys . More than a month after signing the free agent centre, Bynum is expected to make his debut with Indiana on Tuesday night against Boston.PHILADELPHIA -- Lockout or not, Elton Brand is set to play basketball with his Philadelphia 76ers teammates. Brand helped organize a team workout scheduled for next week in Los Angeles and most of the key Sixers have told him they will attend. Andre Iguodala, Evan Turner, Lou Williams and others will fly in, share a hotel, play and work out together and do what they can to get ready for the season. Whenever that starts, no one is quite sure. "I cant wait to see where the guys are at," Brand said. "Ive been talking to them all summer. They seem to be in shape already in case we get this thing going." The lingering, messy lockout has thrown doubt that training camp and the regular season will start on time. These loosely organized team activities -- without any input or supervision from the coaching staff -- are as close as the Sixers can get to a training camp without travelling to Philadelphia. Brands weekly, upbeat off-season texts from coach Doug Collins have vanished from his BlackBerry. The Sixers have completely faded from Philadelphias bustling sports scene. But the numerous economic issues that have divided the players and owners are still a daily harsh reality for everyone connected with the sport. Brand attended an NBPA meeting this week in Los Angeles where the message from union leaders and superstars like Kobe Bryant and Paul Pierce was a simple one: Stick together. "I cant speak for the owners side, but on the players side, theres definitely a sense of urgency to meet and talk," Brand said. Brand has assumed the role of de facto team player rep. Jason Kapono held the position last season, but is a free agent now. Brand keeps in touch with Players Association executive director Billy Hunter and keeps his teammates informed. Brand, entering the fourth of a five-year contract, said "its tough to answer" if the Sixers really will open the season Nov. 2 in Toronto. "Ill have a better feel closer to training camp," Brand said. "As of now, it doesnt look good. It doesnt look good at all. I dont think were going to start with a normal training camp because the numbers are so far apart. But I think as training camp gets closer, well know more if we have to miss games." Brand hasnt ruled out playing overseas if the lockout drags into the regular season. Numerous players have said they would consider playing overseas. Nets all-star guard Deron Williams recently agreed to a deal withh Besiktas of Turkey. cheap nfl jerseys. Brand has made about US$126 million since his rookie year in 1999 and was set to make $17 million this season with the Sixers. So, if he went abroad, its not because he needs the cash. "If the season starts on Jan. 1, I would love to have a leg up on guys," Brand said. "I wouldnt want anyone to have a leg up on me. Thats why its been, as were inching closer, its been in my brain. I want to be in peak physical condition when the season starts." He misses the texts and conversations with Collins and the staff. When Quin Snyder, who recruited Brand to Duke, left his job as an assistant coach to join the Los Angeles Lakers, Brand couldnt even wish him congratulations and good luck. When Brand returns to work, hell have a new boss. Comcast-Spectacor sold the team to a group led by New York-based leveraged buyout specialist Joshua Harris. The deal is still awaiting approval by the NBA. When the Atlanta Hawks were sold earlier this month, new owner Alex Meruelo had to fight back tears as he talked about what it means to be the NBAs first Hispanic team owner. Harris, oddly, has decided to refrain from publicly talking about the Sixers and his plans for a franchise that hasnt won a championship since 1983. Brand said the team wont be the same without chairman Ed Snider around. "Were definitely going to miss him," Brand said, "and all hes done for the organization over the years." For a player who might temporarily be out of a job this fall, Brand has kept busy. He and Dallas centre Brendan Haywood participated in a youth camp in St. Maarten. Brand and his production company, Milk and Media, are reading scripts and greenlighting projects. Brand spent about 10 days in Louisiana earlier this summer -- "getting eaten up by insects" -- overseeing the psychological thriller, "No One Lives," starring Luke Evans. Backed by WWE and Pathe Films, Brand watched the dailies, oversaw script changes, and made sure shooting stayed true to the vision of the project. Brands next passion project is a film about hip hop artist and actor Tupac Shakur. And of course, hes been playing pickup games with other NBA players around Los Angeles. But hes antsy for the real deal to start. "The one thing Id want to get out there is for the fans to know we appreciate their support," he said. "Were doing all we can as players to try and make this thing right so we can have a season." cheap jerseys cheap jerseys from china ' ' '
