Canada finished a disappointing sixth at the 2010 World Cup in England, losing 23-20 to the U.S. in the fifth-place playoff. The Canadians went 2-1 in pool play, beating Scotland and Sweden before losing to France. Canada beat Scotland again to advance to the fifth-place game. New Zealand won the tournament, beating England 13-10 in the final. The Black Ferns went 5-0, outscoring their opposition 188-33. Under coach Francois Ratier, the Canadian women have done well recently. Canada defeated England 27-13 in Colorado in August to win the Nations Cup. Next up for the Canadian women is a European tour, their first fall trip since 2009. They play France on Saturday in Pontarlier and Nov. 5 in Amneville before playing England on Nov. 13 at the Twickenham Stoop, site of the 2010 World Cup final. Its been a rough season for the English women, who lost their Six Nations title, were beaten three times in their series in New Zealand and were beaten twice by Canada at Nations Cup.
