OAKLAND, Calif. C.J. Wilson Angels Jersey . -- DrewPomeranz approached his fill-in start the same way he has every outing in relief this season. Maybe thats why he had so much more success than hes used to as a starter. Pomeranz pitched five scoreless innings for his second win in his past 20 starts and the Oakland Athletics salvaged a split of a doubleheader by beating the Seattle Mariners 2-0 in the nightcap Wednesday. "It felt a little weird at first," Pomeranz said. "I was trying to take the same mentality Ive had all year. Ive had some success doing that, staying in the stretch, keeping things as simple as I can out there. Just tried to treat it like I was coming into a game." The Mariners overcame a shaky start from ace FelixHernandez to win the opener 6-4 on JustinSmoaks two-out single in the 10th inning. Despite the loss in the nightcap, Seattle heads home satisfied following a 7-2 road trip that also included stops in New York and Houston. "To come out of this series 7-2 is just an unbelievable trip in my opinion," manager Lloyd McClendon said. "Just phenomenal. I was very proud of the team and how they played. We put ourselves in a pretty good position." YoenisCespedes homered for the second straight day and CraigGentry scored from first on a single by JedLowrie to help the As snap a six-game home losing streak. Pomeranz (2-1) was sharp in his first major league start since last July, allowing two hits and no walks in five innings with five strikeouts as he mixed in his change-up for the first time all season. Pomeranz won just one of his final 19 starts with Colorado, leading to an off-season trade to the As where he has pitched well in relief. But he stepped when the As needed another starter for the doubleheader and got the win. "I couldnt have expected any more than that," manager Bob Melvin aid. "Pretty fantastic for a guy who hasnt started a game for us in spring or this season." The As took the lead in the third. Gentry ran on the pitch from first base on a full count with two outs when Lowries popup fell between left fielder ColeGillespie and shortstop Brad Miller for a hit. Cespedes added to the lead in the fourth with a solo homer off ErasmoRamirez (1-4), who was called up from Triple-A Tacoma earlier in the day to make the start. Ramirez allowed two runs in six innings. DanOtero, who allowed the go-ahead hit in the 10th inning of the opener, pitched three scoreless innings of relief and JimJohnson finished the three-hitter for his second save and first since losing the closers job a month ago. "Thats what hes used to doing -- 1-2-3 today," Melvin said. "That was huge." This was just the second traditional doubleheader in Oakland in the past 16 years, with the other in 2011. The makeup game was necessary because a game was postponed April 4 when the field was unplayable after there was no tarp on it overnight. Hernandez failed to strike out a batter for the first time Aug. 19, 2008, against the Chicago White Sox, ending a streak of 179 straight starts with at least one strikeout. He allowed four runs -- three earned -- and matched his career worst against Oakland by giving up 11 hits in 6 1-3 innings. "No strikeouts, not a good breaking ball, not a good change-up," Hernandez said. "Thats what happens when you dont have good stuff." BrandonMoss hit an RBI triple that capped a three-run seventh against Hernandez, but the As could not hold a late lead as RobinsonCano tied the game with an RBI single off LukeGregerson in the eighth. Smoak gave the Mariners the lead when he hit a chopper off the glove of leaping first baseman DaricBarton for an RBI single off Otero in the 10th after RyanCook (0-1) left the game with a strained right forearm. Cook will have an MRI on Thursday but does not believe the injury is serious. YoervisMedina (2-1) pitched the ninth for the win, and FernandoRodney pitched the 10th for his ninth save in 10 chances. Oakland centre fielder CocoCrisp strained his neck in the opener crashing into the wall to make a leaping catch. He is expected to miss a few days. NOTES: CoreyHart and MikeZunino hit solo homers for the Mariners in the opener. ... HisashiIwakuma (1-0) takes the mound for the Mariners on Thursday when they open a four-game home series against Kansas City. ... Oakland begins a three-game series at home against Washington on Friday. Jered Weaver Authentic Jersey . Instead, there is whats being called Native Areas. CSN New England reports that the team is interested in Arizona Cardinals wide receiver LarryFitzgerald, whom they reportedly tried to acquire last off-season.PHILADELPHIA - After sitting idle without a first-rounder in the NHL draft, one Ottawa Senators scout was thrilled to get to make some picks on Day 2. "The scouts were happy," general manager Bryan Murray said. "I think somebody shook my hand at the end." That wasnt the handshake Murray went into the weekend hoping for. And try as he did, he was unable to consummate a trade to give centre JasonSpezza his wish to leave Ottawa. "I called the teams or took calls from teams that were interested," Murray said Saturday. "We talked about the return, the type of deal we wanted to make. In a couple of cases there was real interest and it went away. So I dont know whether it was because of the draft and on the day of the draft picks are very valuable, whether that was part of it or it was something different." Murray wanted a first-round pick, a roster player and a prospect for his captain, who has a limited no-trade clause and thus the power to refuse to go to 10 teams. One of those 10 is Nashville, which had a deal worked out to get Spezza that couldnt go through because he didnt agree to go to the Predators. "David (Poile) talked to me and we couldnt go there," Murray said. "I told (Spezzas agent) Rick Curran that today, I had a deal sitting there if I wanted to do it, but he was on the list of no-gos." A Senators-Predators deal mightve landed Ottawa the 11th pick. Instead, Poile pulled the trigger on getting winger JamesNeal from the Pittsburgh Penguins for PatricHornqvist and NickSpaling. Considering that and the Anaheim Ducks trade with the Vancouver Canucks for centre RyanKesler, Murray knnows that "the field narrows a little bit. Josh Hamilton Jersey. ." Murray estimated that he talked to four or five teams about Spezza and that three expressed fairly serious interest. It never worked out, leaving everyone in the situation still hanging. Im sure its disappointing for him, its disappointing for me because Id like to accommodate him if I could, but he does have a year left on his contract," Murray said. "If thats the case well have a pretty good player for next year." Or its possible that teams circle back to the Senators after July 1 if they dont land PaulStastny or another free-agent centre. As far as Ottawas approach to the start of free agency, thats affected by Spezza, too. "I dont know, thats the problem," Murray said. "Part of your decision is what can you spend, where does it fit and what do you get in return for a certain player? If you dont know that, then its harder." Unable to get anything done on the Spezza front, the Senators made five picks to stock up for the future. They took defenceman Andreas Englund 40th, defenceman Miles Gendron 70th, forward Shane Eiserman 100th, defenceman Kelly Summers 189th and left-winger Francis Perron 190th. The 189th pick, a seventh-rounder, Ottawa got from the Winnipeg Jets for a 2015 sixth-rounder. That was the only trade Murray was able to make in Philadelphia. "It just seemed to me there were a lot of phone calls, a lot of talking, people interested, but nothing really happened," he said. "I had to make one trade at the end, a seventh-round pick for the sixth next year just to say I did something. So that was my accomplishment." wholesale nfl jerseys wholesale jerseys ' ' '

DURBAN, South Africa -- The Sharks say they have signed former England and British Lions prop Matt Stevens for two years and the front-rower will return to Durban to play in this years Currie Cup. Nike Air Max 90 Premium Femme . The Sharks say Stevens, who was born in Durban, will join in August. Sharks chief executive John Smit says Stevens "versatility" makes him "a great acquisition to our squad." He will provide backup for the Sharks in the Currie Cup when Springboks front-rowers Tendai Mtawarira and Jannie du Plessis are likely to be on international duty. Now with Saracens, the 31-year-old Stevens played 44 tests before retiring in 2012. He was banned for two years from 2009-11 after a positive drug test for cocaine. Nike Air Max 90 Homme Pas Cher . - The Kansas City Royals are hoping All-Star catcher SalvadorPerez will be back in a few days. Nike Air Max 90 Hyperfuse Pas Cher . The Nets continued their winning ways Tuesday by sweeping a back-to-back set for the first time this season, beating the Orlando Magic 101-90 a night after routing the crosstown rival New York Knicks. Before the 2013-14 NCAA season began, CBSSports.com listed Syracuse point guard and Toronto native Tyler Ennis at 69 on its "Top 100 Players in college hoops." Michigan guard and fellow Canadian Nik Stauskas was one ahead at 68. With 42 days before the NBA Draft in New York City, two of three analysts of the same website have Ennis getting selected in the top 10, while all three have Stauskas going in the 10-14 range. "Ive played against some of the best players in the world and Ive played against some of the best players in my class," Ennis said at the NBA Combine, which began Thursday. "I just have the confidence and I know how hard I work and I know my abilities." Played is the operative word in that sentence. For as much as the 19-year-old Ennis and 20-year-old Stauskas did to get noticed on the court, they both understand to fulfill their NBA dreams theyll have to impress potential employers off the court just as much. "People know how I play and I think the main thing for teams is to get to know me and know if they are going to draft me, what theyre going to deal with,"Ennis said. "They want to see, as a nineteen-year-old coming out of college, if youre able to lead grown men in the NBA and I think they are able to get a feel for that in the interviews." The process is something all players have to go through and Stauskas is doing his best to combat the expected nerves. "The main thing for me is to just try to be myself and let teams know what kind of person I am and how I grew up and how I got to this situation right here," the Mississauga native said. Stauskass upbringing could serve him well when talking to NBA clubs. His family originally hails from the basketball-mad Lithuania. "t;Im a good person, really hard-working, and I come from a great family. Nike Air Max 90 Essential Femme. I think thats important for people to know and I just want them to know that Im not doing this because I want money or anything like that," he said. "Obviously, the moneys great, but Im really doing this just because I love the game of basketball. This is whats made me happy since I was seven or eight-years-old. I feel like if teams really get that vibe from me, theyre going like that." Both Stauskas and Ennis sat out the first day of the combine. Each player was officially measured - height, weight and wingspan - but neither participated in any of the on-court drills. "Before the combine started, knowing what the drills were going to be, I felt a lot of it was just jump-shooting," Stauskas said. "Obviously, thats the strongest part of my game and I feel that teams already know I can shoot the ball, so coming in, I felt that even if I had a great day shooting the ball, it wasnt really going to do much for me because teams already know thats my strength." Both Canadians, however, will participate in physical testing and the aforementioned team meetings. And although the footage of their abilities is likely endless at this point, both players say there will be a few surprises awaiting any and all who will be watching. "Im not the one dunking all the time but Im able to jump pretty high and Im a lot faster than people think," Ennis said. "Going through the combine I think my numbers will show that its more surprising than people expect. "I dont think people realize I can jump the way I do or run the way I do," Stauskas echoed, "so Im really looking forward to tomorrow, getting in there and working." wholesale nfl jerseys wholesale jerseys ' ' '

CHARLOTTE, N. Josh Hamilton Jersey .C. -- MichaelJordan said hes both disgusted and outraged by the racist comments allegedly made by Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling. Jordan, now the owner of the Charlotte Bobcats, released a statement Sunday addressing the matter. He said that as an owner, "Im completely disgusted that a fellow team owner could hold such sickening and offensive views." As a former player, Jordan says "Im completely outraged." An audio recording obtained by TMZ alleges that Sterling made racist comments to a girlfriend, including urging her not to bring black friends to Clippers games. The NBA and the Clippers are investigating, including whether the male voice on the recording is in fact Sterlings. Jordan said he is confident that NBA Commissioner Adam Silver will investigate the matter fully and "take appropriate action quickly." "There is no room in the NBA -- or anywhere else -- for the kind of racism and hatred that Mr. Sterling allegedly expressed," Jordan said. "I am appalled that this type of ignorance still exists within our country and at the highest levels of our sport. In a league where the majority of players are African-American, we cannot and must not tolerate discrimination at any level." Sharapova has only played one match since an early exit at Wimbledon due to a right shoulder injury and has spent months working with her new coach Sven Groeneveld. She arrived in Australia to prepare for the first major of the season with her boyfriend and fellow professional Grigor Dimitrov, who returns after losing the final here to Andy Murray last season. Serena Williams won the last Brisbane title and is back to defend it, hoping she hasnt lost any of the momentum from a stunning 2013 season when she won 11 titles including the French and U.S. Opens, had 78 wins from 82 matches -- including a 34-match winning streak -- and collected more than $12 million in prize money. Her brief off-season was not exactly business as usual -- although it was commercial. She trained in Florida with her father, Richard, so she could be close to home for the relaunch of one of her companies and to hire a CEO for it. "I was interviewing so many people. Corporate Serena was taking over," she told a news conference Sunday. "Im happy to be here right now." Corporate Serena conducted at least 10 interviews, and still has at least one more to do. She expects it to be a tough interview, like they all are. "I definitely am not easy ... Im a tough interviewer. For me, its all about business and removing a lot of emotion," she said. "I just want to get to the point." And that brings her back to tennis, where she can turn the corporate email account off for a while and concentrate on what she does best. "I took a couple weeks off, but I was already itching to get back on the court," she said. "I didnt want to lose any rhythm or anything. Didnt want to lose momentum." No. 3-seeded Sharapova is in Williams half of the draw, meaning they could meet in the semifinals. The Brisbane tournament will be Sharapovas only warmup for the Australian Open, which starts Jan. 13, so she needs to find her rhythm quickly. Rod Carew Authentic Jersey. She said shed been practicing hard, but also concentrating on relaxing when shes off the court. Traveling with Dimitrov has helped, she said, despite or because of their major common interest. "Of course we share a lot of the same things just because we have an elephant in the room thats called tennis," Sharapova said Sunday. "But there are so many other things to life that are besides tennis, and there are a lot more things to discuss than forehands and backhands and strings and rackets, which we share similar ideas and things of." Sharapova split with coach Thomas Hogstedt after her Wimbledon loss, and said she wasnt in the right frame of mind to work with Jimmy Connors long term -- that partnership lasted one match. "You have to realize that the decisions you make, you have to make them selfishly in this business to be better, to know whats right for you," she said. "From the first time we met I really liked what (Groeneveld) had to say. Hes a team player. He works with everyone on my team, something I was missing for a little bit of time." In first-round results at Brisbane: Wimbledon finalist Sabine Lisicki had a 6-3, 6-4 win over Magdalena Rybarikova of Slovakia; Andrea Petkovic of Germany beat American Bethanie Mattek-Sands 6-4, 7-5; Japanese veteran Kimiko Date-Krumm won 6-3, 7-5 over Australias Olivia Rogowska; and Swiss player Stefanie Vogele beat American Madison Keys 6-4, 6-3. Former No. 1-ranked Caroline Wozniacki withdrew after hurting her right shoulder in practice but said she expected to be fit the Sydney International next week. While Serena Williams gets a first-round bye in Brisbane, her older sister Venus Williams will be in action from the first round at the WTA event in Auckland on Monday when she plays 134-ranked Andrea Hlavackova of the Czech Republic. In Hopman Cup Group B action at Perth, Petra Kvitova and Radek Stepanek combined to give the Czech Republic a 3-0 win over Spain. Kvitova only lost one game en route to a comprehensive singles win over Anabel Medina Garrigues before Stepanek beat Daniel Munoz-De La Nava 6-2, 6-2. The Czech pair won the mixed doubles 6-3, 6-4. wholesale nfl jerseys wholesale jerseys ' ' '

KANSAS CITY, Mo. Custom Orioles Jersey . - DrewSmyly picked up where fellow Tigers starter RickPorcello left off, tossing seven shutout innings and leading Detroit to a 9-2 rout of the Kansas City Royals on Saturday night. Porcello and the Tigers bullpen retired the final 18 hitters in an 8-2 victory the previous night, and Smyly (2-1) retired the first four he faced. After a issuing a walk to AlexGordon, the former reliever then retired the next six in a dominant performance. Smyly wound up allowing two hits and two walks before giving way to JobaChamberlain, who threw a perfect eighth. PhilCoke allowed two runs in the ninth to lose the shutout. NickCastellanos drove in three runs the Tigers, the first off spot starter DannyDuffy (1-2) and two more off the Royals bullpen. That was it until the ninth, when Detroit tacked on six more runs, the highlight a three-run shot by ToriiHunter. The win was the Tigers fifth straight over Kansas City. Duffy moved from the bullpen back to the rotation in place of BruceChen, who went on the disabled list this week with a bulging disc in his back. Duffy was on a pitch count and wound up lasting just four innings, allowing two hits and walking four while throwing 75 pitches. Kansas City played without catcher SalvadorPerez, who was given the night off after fouling a pitch off his shin in the series opener. Royals manager Ned Yost said he expects the All-Star to be back in the lineup Sunday though they sure could have used his bat in this one. The only hits the Royals could muster off Smyly came on EricHosmers double in the fourth and a single in the fifth by DannyValencia, who was thrown out trying to reach second. Meanwhile, the Tigers took advantage of Duffys erratic ways. The left-hander walked the bases loaded in the fourth inning, and Castellanos followed with a liner to left that AlexGordon caught on the run. But rather than throw home immediately, the Gold Glove winner hesitated, and that gave MiguelCabrera time to score. In the sixth, reliever LouisColeman allowed a double to Cabrera and intentionally walked VictorMartinez, who has been hot all series. Herrera came in and Castellanos ripped a double to right, driving in both runs while ending a 0-for-15 slump. That was plenty of support for Smyly, who made 63 appearances out of the bullpen last season and two this season, but who may be firmly establishing himself as the fifth starter. The victory was Smylys first as a starter since beating the Royals on July 6, 2012. NOTES: Royals RHP Aaron Brooks made his big league debut, giving up all six runs in the ninth. ... Tigers RHP Robbie Ray is expected to be promoted from Triple-A Toledo to start Tuesday against Houston in his big league debut. ... LONDON -- Nicolas Anelka was banned for five games by the English Football Association on Thursday and immediately suspended by West Bromwich Albion for a racially aggravated goal celebration. The French striker performed the gesture, which is known in his homeland as a "quenelle" and has been described as an "inverted Nazi salute," during a Premier League match in December. Although an FA disciplinary panel backed Anelkas insistence that he was not being intentionally anti-Semitic, performing the gesture was still found to be racist and abusive. Anelka, who appeared at the hearing this week, received the minimum five-game ban for racism offences, was also fined 80,000 pounds ($133,000) and ordered to complete an education course. Anelka can appeal, and he must decide within seven days of receiving the panels written reasons. But West Brom responded to the verdict by suspending him while the central England club conducts an internal investigation and awaits the conclusion of the FA process. "The club acknowledges that the FA panel did not find that Nicolas Anelka is an anti-Semite or that he intended to express or promote anti-Semitism by his use of the quenelle," West Brom said in a statement. "However, the club cannot ignore the offence that his actions have caused, particularly to the Jewish community, nor the potential damage to the clubs reputation." The panel found Anelka guilty of two charges -- that the gesture "was abusive and/or indecent and/or insulting and/or improper," and it was racially offensive. "The misconduct was an aggravated breach ... in that it included a reference to ethnic origin and/or race and/or religion or belief," the FA verdict said. Anelkas legal team said he was "pleased" to be cleared of anti-Semitism. "He is now waiting to receive the commissions full reasons for their decision before considering whether or not to appeal," the statement said. Aneelka performed the quenelle as he celebrated scoring in West Broms 3-3 draw with West Ham on Dec. Nelson Cruz Orioles Jersey. 28. The gesture involves pointing one straightened arm downward while touching the shoulder with the opposite hand. It was popularized by French comedian Dieudonne MBala MBala, who has been convicted multiple times for inciting racial hatred or anti-Semitism. The Community Security Trust, which protects British Jews, said Anelka has introduced an "ugly anti-Semitic gesture into British football." "We acknowledge Anelkas denial of anti-Semitic intent, but his action was clear and the FAs zero tolerance approach to racism meant there could be no other outcome," CST chief executive David Delew said. "This verdict sends a strong message to Jewish players and supporters at all levels of the game that the FA will act against anti-Semitic acts if they are reported." The European Jewish Congress expressed concern that Anelka was yet to express any regret over the case. "Even if the FA is not convinced that the players intent at the time was anti-Semitic, he surely knows now the origins of the quenelle and the hurt and pain it caused the Jewish community, yet we are still waiting for an apology," EJC President Dr Moshe Kantor said. "Anelkas silence speaks volumes." The organization hopes the FA will use the case to help clamp down on abuse against Jews. "Anti-Semitism remains the fastest growing hate in football, on the field and in the stadiums, and we hope that this episode will be used positively to once and for all stamp out hatred for Jews in football," Kantor said. Anelka avoided the heaviest racism ban imposed recently by the FA, eight games for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez in 2011 for racially abusing Manchester United defender Patrice Evra. Chelsea captain John Terry received a four-match ban the following year, before the minimum five-game racism ban was introduced in England. wholesale nfl jerseys wholesale jerseys ' ' '

KANSAS CITY, Mo. Cheap Carolina Hurricanes Jerseys . - Jamaal Charles sprained his ankle against Denver. He had it twisted at a gruesome angle against Arizona. His knee has repeatedly swollen up after games. He took such a blow Sunday against Oakland that he was administered a concussion test on the sideline.Heck, the star running even hurt himself tripping over a curb while moving out of the dorms when the Kansas City Chiefs wrapped up training camp so many months ago.In other words, Knile Davis picked a nice time to show up over the weekend. The backup running back had largely disappeared since early in the season, when he had back-to-back 100-yard rushing games with Charles nursing his ankle. But he was crucial in a 31-13 win over the Raiders, running for a touchdown while Charles was going through the concussion protocol and then catching a 70-yard touchdown pass to help put the game away.Im happy for Knile. Every week he comes to practice and doesnt say a word, Charles said after the game. He comes to the game, and sometimes he doesnt get any reps and Ill be like, Man, let him loose. But he comes in when Im down and makes plays for me.Charles acknowledged that injuries have been killing me this year, a big reason why hes only carried 184 times for 950 yards. That puts him on pace for his worst season since his rookie year, not counting the 2011 season that he mostly missed recovering from a torn ACL.Still, it will be hard to keep him out considering what is at stake. By knocking off Oakland, the Chiefs (8-6) maintained control of their own destiny heading to Pittsburgh this weekend. They finish up with San Diego on Dec. 28. Both of those teams are also in the playoff hunt.Every game is playoff-mode, Charles said. Every game, youve got to come with it.Charles seemed to know what was at stake when he lowered his head near the goal line in the third quarter Sunday, with the outcome still hanging in the balance. He took a shot from two Oakland defenders and appeared to be unsteady as he got to his feet. He was subbed out and Davis went in, and Reid told his top playmaker that he needed to go through the concussion testing. The blow was reminiscent of a shot delivered by former teammate Brandon Flowers during a game against the Chargers. Charles later admitted on a radio show to seeing stars but avoided going through the concussion protocol because he didnt want to exit the game.Really, he was complaining of his knee and his ankle, not his head. But he did take a big hit there, so we kind of went in that direction, Reid said. He set me straight when I came over there and he wasnt able to score that touchdown and Knile did. He wanted the ball. He wanted back in.Charles eventually did return, but only briefly. The Chiefs put up three touchdowns in 4 minutes, 44 seconds, including the long TD catch by Davis. That allowed Charles to spend the rest of the game on the sideline, resting his knee and bothersome ankle.I feel good, he said. I just think I need to get off of it and ice it and heal it and get it back right because it is still tender.Even if Charles is limited against the Steelers, Davis proved Sunday he can help shoulder the load. The bruising running back easily scored on his touchdown run, and then showed off world-class speed when he took a short throw from Alex Smith and ran untouched for his other score.Like Jamaal said, every game from here forward is a playoff game. Were taking that mindset into every game, Davis said. For me, its just a dream to be in the NFL. Now its hard not to notice him. Trout, considered by many scouts to be the best prospect in baseball, homered twice and drove in five runs to lead the Los Angeles Angels to a 13-6 rout of the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday night. The Angels are still 3 1/2 games behind Texas in the AL West as the Rangers also won. The youngest player in the majors at 20 years, 23 days, Trout started the onslaught in the second with a solo shot into the left-field bullpen on a 3-2 pitch from AnthonyVasquez (1-1). Vasquez, making his second big-league start, walked the first two batters in the fourth before Trout added a three-run blast into the left-field seats for a 4-0 lead. "I dont have that anxiousness to hit the ball," Trout said. "The first time I got up here I wanted to hit it hard every time to impress everyone. Now Im just trying to be myself and not trying to do too much." He made his big-league debut July 8 but in 14 games he hit just .163 with one home run and 6 RBI. He was sent back to Double-A Arkansas July 29 before being recalled Aug. 19. Since his recall, hes gone 9 for 21 with four home runs. He has three home runs in the past two games and now five in his 65-at-bat career. "Since the first (callup) its like two different things," he said. "The first couple weeks I was jittery. Now I actually feel calm in the box, looking for my pitch." Manager Mike Scioscia said that Trout, the teams first-round draft choice in 2009, is just continuing where he left off in the minors where he hit .333 with 10 extra-base hits in 16 games. "He wasnt overmatched his first go-around. Maybe didnt get as many hits to fall in but he wasnt overmatched," Scioscia said. "No doubt when you come up here, no matter how talented you are, when you start to have success and start to achieve, thats the litmus test, thats the proving ground and you carry that momentum forward. And it becomes confidence. "Hes doing some things that should give any player confidence." He is the youngest Angels player to hit two home runs in a game. Mariners manager Eric Wedge that Trout "is a very talented young man and has some strength in that swing." The Angels have hit at least one homer in 20 of the past 21 games. They also have 75 road home runs compared to 48 at home. Seattle scored two in the fourrth to cut the lead in half but it blew up for Vasquez and the Mariners in the Angels eight-run fifth inning. wholesale jerseys. . The first eight hitters all scored. It was the Angels biggest inning this season and the most runs in an inning since scoring nine on Aug. 16, 2009 in the 13th at Baltimore. Vasquez, the son of an Angels area scout, gave up the first two runs he was charged with eight overall and left with runners on first and third and one out. JeffGray entered and walked three straight batters, forcing in two runs. ErickAybar had the innings biggest hit, a two-run double. This was the sixth time this season the Angels have scored 10 or more runs. It was their second-highest scoring game, two short of a season-high 15 on April 19 at Texas. All those runs gave comfort to JeromeWilliams (2-0), who, like Vasquez, was making his second career start. He disposed of nine straight Mariners on just 23 pitches over his first three innings. "I dont believe hes 20," Williams said of Trout. "He got me two tonight. He helped me a lot." The Mariners reached Williams in the fourth. MikeCarp hit a RBI double into the left-field corner and MiguelOlivo beat out a RBI infield single to deep short. The Mariners added another pair in the seventh on a two-out, bases-loaded single by IchiroSuzuki. That extended his hitting streak to 13 games. Williams went seven innings, allowing four runs on seven hits. He walked two and struck out six. Olivo, who had three hits, picked up his second infield-hit RBI in the Mariners two-run eighth off BobbyCassevah. Notes: Angels manager Mike Scioscia said when rosters expand Thursday "well definitely add a pitcher and a couple position players." Eventually, the club plans to add eight or nine players besides four or five callups. ... The Mariners also should have three veterans back from the DL early next month: 1B JustinSmoak (broken nose), 3B ChoneFiggins (right hip flexor) and SS/2B JackWilson (heel). "Im anxious to see (Smoak) play," Mariners manager Eric Wedge said. "He needs to play up here." ... The Mariners will send FelixHernandez (12-11, 3.37 ERA) to the mound Wednesday. He was be opposed by DanHaren (13-7, 3.19). Hernandez went 13-12 last season when he won the AL Cy Young Award. He is 4-9 in 23 career starts against the Angels. So far theyve locked up first baseman FreddieFreeman, right fielder JasonHeyward, starter JulioTeheran, and closer CraigKimbrel. On Wednesday, the Braves extended the contracts of general manager Frank Wren and manager Fredi Gonzalez. Wren and Gonzalez were entering the final years of their contracts and Braves president John Schuerholz simply said he wanted the deals to be done as soon as possible. Terms and the amount of the contracts were not disclosed. Schuerholz made the announcement before the first full-squad workout of the spring. "Theyve done wonderful jobs for us," Schuerholz said. "Were not going to talk about the lengths, but they have been extended." After a long first day with the full squad, Gonzalez said he was happy to have the contract issue out of the way. "Im excited," Gonzalez said. "It gives me a chance to stay in Atlanta and I love being here. This is a place I want to be for a long time. Im just happy with the whole thing." Last season, the Braves went 96-66 and won the National League East before falling in the playoffs. Gonzalez finished third in National League Manager of the Year voting. He has a career record with the Braves of 279-207. Gonzalez has a long history with the Braves as a third base coach under manager Bobby Cox. "Thats not something we wanted to avoid, its just not the way to run a company," he said. "And these guys deserve more than that, better than that, and thats why we did it." The four player signings along with the Wren and Gonzalez extensions, showed that the Braves arent afraid to spend money. On the four players alone, they spent $227.7 million. Gonzalez said he is still adjusting to the new rules regarding replay. The Braves will be allowed the use of replay three times during spring training. He said he is still trying to figure out the rules. He said he will likely have a part-time coach in the replay booth to send down signals on the calls. ... DETROIT -- Former Detroit Lions running back JahvidBest is suing the NFL and helmet maker Riddell after concussion problems helped cut short his career.Nike Roshe Run Mujer Baratas . The lawsuit was filed in Wayne County Circuit Court on Tuesday. It alleges the league has been aware of evidence of mild traumatic brain injuries and the risk for its players for years, but "deliberately ignored and actively concealed" the information. It also accuses Riddell of making defective helmets and failing to inform the players of the long-term effects of concussions. "The NFL, like the sport of boxing, was aware of the health risks associated with repetitive blows producing sub-concussive and concussive results and the fact that some members of the NFL players population were at significant risk of developing long-term brain damage and cognitive decline as a result," the lawsuit reads. "Despite its knowledge and controlling role in governing player conduct on and off the field, the NFL turned a blind eye to the risk and failed to warn and/or impose safety regulations governing this health and safety problem." A message was left Wednesday seeking comment from the NFL. Riddell spokeswoman Erin Griffin declined comment Wednesday night. The Detroit Free Press was the first to report on the lawsuit. Bests suit comes just days before the Denver Broncos take on the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl on Sunday. It also comes on the heels of a ruling by a federal judge that calls into question the viability of a proposed $765 million settlement of NFL concussion claims. U.S. District Judge Anita B. Brody denied preliminary approval of the plan because shes worried the money for 20,000 retired players could run out sooner than expected. She also raised concerns two weeks ago that anyone who gets concussion damages from the NFL would be barred from suing the NCAA or other amateur football leagues. Best was selected by the Lions in the first round of the 2010 draft and accounted for 1,000-plus yards and six touchdowns as a rookie. But he was limited to six games during the 2011 season after what he said was the third concussion of his football career. He was cut by Detroit in July. Best also had a scary fall when he was a college player at California that knocked him out and sent him to the hospital with a concussion and sore back. Best, who turns 25 on Thursday, is seeking compensatory and punitive damages from the NFL and Riddell, to go along with economic and non-economic damages. "Unfortunately, with these types of injuries, as has been documented, the long-term effects of the injuries to the brain may not manifest themselves for a number of years," Bret Schnitzer, Bests attorney, said in an email to The Associated Press. "Jahvid obviously had some manifestation of concussion syndrome, which is well documented in the media. But in terms of the full extent of the injury to the brain, as we can see from other players and from the science, that cant always be determined in a 25-year-old." Schnitzer declined to make Best available for an interview. "He was disabled from playing football due to the concussions. Thats all Im really going to indicate in terms of his condition at this time," Schnitzer said in an email. "Itll develop through the litigation." Precio Nike Cortez . It paid off big time Tuesday night. Miller scored a season-high 19 points, and made a wide-open 3-pointer with 45.9 seconds remaining to help carry the Grizzlies to a 98-93 victory over the New York Knicks. "Thats what we got him for," said Memphis guard MikeConley, who led the Grizzlies with 22 points. "Hes going to win us four or five, six games throughout the year himself, just from making big plays down the stretch. Tonight was one of those games." Miller shot 7 for 11 from the field, including 5 of 7 on 3-pointers, to help Memphis win its third straight. Millers last-minute 3 gave the Grizzlies the lead for good as they scored the games final seven points. "Ive been in a lot of these situations, and I was able to make some shots when we needed them," Miller said. For the Knicks, Millers late 3-pointer was frustrating not only from the sense that it caused New York to squander a comeback from 18 points down in the first half, but also cost them a key game as the Knicks fight for the last playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. New Yorks CarmeloAnthony, who finished with 22 points and 11 rebounds, couldnt believe his team failed to close the game, particularly when seeing Miller uncontested for the 3-pointer that put Memphis ahead. "All I saw was MikeMiller wide open and the ball was going," Anthony said before adding: "Once the ball was up, my thing was to just hope that he didnt keep his follow through up or something and the ball was going to miss. But he was wide open." ZachRandolph scored 13 points for Memphis, NickCalathes had 11 and TayshaunPrince added 10. Conley, who had missed the seven games before the All-Star break with a sprained right ankle, couldnt find a rhythm after the layoff and struggled in the first half before scoring 16 in the second half, including getting to the free throw line 10 times after intermission. "I was real upset and frustrated at times," Conley said of the firstt half. Nike Air Max 90 Mujer. "I was missing shots I normally make. I missed a couple of free throws, but I was happy with the way my body held up. "I started getting a little bit of a rhythm (in the second half). I was able to get to the free throw line and able to get to my floater. I got in a comfort zone." TimHardaway Jr. scored 23 points to lead the Knicks, including 14 during the Knicks fourth-quarter push. Amare Stoudemire added 12 points. "We played great in the second half," Knicks coach Mike Woodson said. "We fought back. We were 18 down and kept chipping away." Memphis saw its 50-37 halftime lead evaporate in the third quarter when New York outscored the Grizzlies 27-16. Much of that came as New York turned up the defensive pressure, allowing Memphis to hit only three of its first 11 shots in the third. Meanwhile, the Knicks made six of their first eight shots in the quarter. The Knicks werent able to maintain that pace, finishing 10 for 21 in the period to pull to 66-64 entering the fourth. When Stoudemire scored the opening basket of the fourth, the teams were tied at 66. The Knicks eventually held a seven-point advantage in the fourth. However, the Grizzlies had the final run. Hardaways 3-pointer with 1:04 left gave New York a 93-91 lead. Miller answered with the open 3-pointer to take the lead back for Memphis, then Conley and CourtneyLee each hit two free throws in the final 21.4 seconds for the final margin. "Its very disappointing," Anthony said. "To fight our way back and be up 5, 6 with a couple of minutes on the clock, and give it away is very disappointing. But we have to put this one behind us." NOTES: The Grizzlies were 4-3 while Conley sat out with a sprained ankle. ... The Knicks J.R.Smith was still in the plastic mask from his fractured cheekbone. He has been uncomfortable in the mask since he was injured Feb. 9 at Oklahoma City. ... Millers previous season high was 16 against Golden State on Dec. 7. .The game marked only the fourth time this season New York has lost while holding the opponent under 100 points. wholesale nfl jerseys wholesale jerseys ' ' '

EDMONTON -- The Edmonton Oilers werent as good as they looked in their first 14 games of this season and they arent as bad as theyve often appeared over their last 14. wholesale jerseys from china . The trick for coach Tom Renney is to find the happy middle ground between the extremes. After getting out to a 9-3-2 start, the Oilers have staggered to a 4-9-1 record since, with the latest mis-step coming in a 5-3 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Wednesday -- a defeat Renney deemed the most disappointing of the season. Consistent, the Oilers are not. "As much as our goaltending was good, our defensive game was very good to start the season," Renney said. "Our goaltenders had to worry about less chances against, less bona fide chances. That made a real difference. "We do have a reference point with how we played. We have clips that would suggest we know what were doing and the results sort of speak to that. Certainly lately, they dont." Put the distinctly different 14-game segments together and the Oilers today sit in 10th place in the Western Conference with a 13-12-3 record as they prepare to close out a six-game homestand against the Colorado Avalanche on Friday. Losers of two straight games and five of their last six, the Oilers are just two points ahead of the 27 points they had after the same number of games in 2010-11, when they finished 30th overall for the second straight year. "I dont think youre really ever as good as you look and youre never really as bad as you think you are," RyanWhitney said. "As a team, I think its about realizing that the same group of guys that did that earlier is here now. "Sometimes you get too confident. You think the league is going to be easy. I know when I was young, you have some success and you kind of lay back and you think its going to be roses the rest of the way. Its not. Its a hard league. Theres no easy games." Beaten 5-3 by the Calgary Flames on Saturday, the well-rested Oilers talked about starting fast and making amends against the Hurricanes, who came into Rexall Place languishing in last place in the Eastern Conference and on a seven-game losing streak. The Oilers were instead listless, flat and unable to match the energy level of the Hurricanes, who had lost 7-6 the night before in Calgary. Special teams struggled again. Renneys top two lines accomplished little. "Were looking for some consistency together," captain ShawnHorcoff said. "Weve had good games here and there. We need longer periods, where you throw three or four (games) together. "Were going through a bit of a tough time and this is where you need to turn it around and start finding ways to win some games. I dont think were as bad as weve looked this last stretch, but I think we can be as good a team as we were early, but it takes a 20-man commitment to it." To say the Oilers have been streaky in the extreme is to understate. They had a six-game winning streak early. They followed that by losing five of six games in November and have duplicated that stretch, one win in six games, with the loss to Carolina. "When you start thinking that youre better than you are, as a team or as a player, thats when it comes and bites you," Whitney said. "I think thats just what happened with us. "We probably thought we were going to play the whole way like we started the year. All of a sudden, teams get better a month into the season and we stopped doing some of the things we were doing." If the Oilers were guilty of being a little too confident after a surprising start, thats not an issue now. The power play, so hot to start the season, is still ranked eighth, but was held off the score sheet on 10 attempts in the losses to Calgary and Carolina. The penalty killing has slipped to 16th. One constant has been that goaltending duo of NikolaiKhabibulin and DevanDubnyk has faced too many shots. More of those shots are finding the back of the net now. "We certainly cant feel sorry for ourselves and we cant go out and fall on our swords either," Renney said. "This is the NHL. This is what we do, so lets just buckle down and come back to a real sound, fundamental game of hockey and allow the rest of that innate stuff, that instinctive stuff to emerge from good, sound, basic hockey. Thats when were at our best, when we play the game that way." wholesale nfl jerseys . Nestor and Mirnyi, the second seeds, rallied to beat Frances Michael Llodra and Serb Nenad Zimonjic 3-6, 6-1, 12-10 at the Shanghai Masters. It was the first doubles title for Nestor and Mirnyi since winning the French Open in June. wholesale jerseys . "The opportunities are going to come," he said Monday on a conference call from Slovenia, where the team was preparing for a friendly. "If we werent creating chances then it would be a different conversation.Munich, Germany (SportsNetwork.com) - Bayern Munich continued its dominance of the Bundesliga by cruising to a 2-0 defeat of Freiburg at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday. Bayerns last defeat in league play came on April 12 when the club suffered a 3-0 loss to Borussia Dortmund, but a run of four straight wins helped the Bavarians complete the campaign in style, while a 16-match unbeaten streak to start the new season has seen the club continue its impressive domestic form. The hosts were made to wait until the 41st minute of Tuesdays affair for an opener, which came from Arjen Robben. The Dutchman got on the end of Franck Riberys headed cross and nodded home from close range, breaking the deadlock with his 100th goal for Bayern. EAST RUTHERFORD, N. Datone Jones Jersey .J. -- This Super Bowl has just about everything a fan, a player, a coach -- and certainly a league -- could ask for. Denvers record-setting offence versus Seattles relentlessly stingy defence. Coaches who actually smile and think football should be fun. A wintry setting, and the best two teams in the NFL. You can watch coverage of the game beginning on CTV at 2pm et/ 11am pt. Also take part in TSN.cas Super Bowl live chat during the game starting at 6:30pm et/3:30 pt. "Its very special to be here," Seattle coach Pete Carroll said of Sundays big game. "Look at this event that our players are having to take part of. The game, the matchup, the culmination of the season, all of this is just extraordinary." This Super Bowl could also have a profound effect on the immediate future of pro football. It may be a referendum on whether the NFLs showpiece event should ever again be held outdoors in a cold-weather city. But more likely is it being a strong indicator about the future of the quarterback position. The game will feature the classic pocket passer emblematic of the old guard -- Denvers veteran PeytonManning, who has had an extraordinarily prolific season. Against him is Seattles quick-footed, quick-witted scrambler RussellWilson, who represents the new guard along with the likes of RobertGriffin III, ColinKaepernick, CamNewton, even AndrewLuck. Seattles miserly defence wants to force Manning into uncomfortable territory, which means anywhere outside the passing pocket. Denvers defence will be intent on giving Wilson a taste of claustrophobia by keeping him hemmed in the pocket. Both QB approaches work for their offences, or else these two teams wouldnt each be 15-3, top seeds in their conferences and facing off for the championship. The quarterback differences -- aside from age, time of service in the pros, or even their height -- Manning is about 15 centimetres (six inches) taller than Wilson -- make this Super Bowl even more intriguing. There will always be a place in anyones starting lineup for a PeytonManning, who deserves strong consideration in the debate about the greatest quarterback in history, regardless of whether he adds a second Super Bowl ring on Sunday. Teams construct their offence around a talent like that. Whether most teams will stick with convention or choose mobile, creative and elusive passers such as Wilson wont be decided by who wins at the Meadowlands. But it could play a significant role. "As a talent evaluator for college and even free agency, the toughest thing to evaluate is process," Broncos quarterbacks coach Greg Knapp said. "Can the guy process in the pocket during the heat of battle?" Everyone knows Manning has had that skill throughout his career, and Wilson has provided strong evidence in his two NFL seasons that hes got it, too. "Peyton might be one of the best Ive ever been around that can process, Okay, Ive got these tools to use, and in 10 seconds Ive got to make a decision, and execute in less than four," Knapp added. Wilsons multi-faceted abilities on the field might differ in method to Mannings, but Carroll sees many similarities off the playing field. "Hes an incredible competitor in every way," Carroll said of his quarterback, who at 25 is 12 years younger than Manning. "In preparation, in game day, hes the epitome of what you want in your competitor. Hes got tremendous work habits. Hes got extraordinary athleticism. Hes got a general all-around savvy that allows him to make great decisions under pressure. "Hes extremely confident, too, so no matter what is going on, hes not going to waver in his focus and ability to handle things." Manning believes elements of all styles will always be in demand. "I could describe the perfect quarterback. Take a little piece of everybody," he said. "Take John Elways arm, Dan Marinos release, maybe Troy Aikmans dropback, BrettFavres scrambling ability, Joe Montanas two-minute poise and, naturally, my speed." After the laughter stopped, Manning continued: "I could take a piece of everyone, of some of my favourite quarterbacks, and I could take 30 traits from different guys, and put them in that perfect quarterback." But will that perfect QB in years to come feature more of Manning and his mould or of Wilson and his ilk? Sundays game could provide a glimpse into that future. Don Barclay Youth Jersey . PAUL, Minn. Khyri Thornton Jersey . "It is my feeling the club is at a stage that is critical to our on-field expectations and this move was necessary," Hervey told a news gathering hours after he informed Reed he was gone after three years as head coach. Prior to his injury, Regehr notched two assists and an even plus-minus rating in eight playoff games. Josh Hamilton Authentic Jersey . The Rosemere, Que., freestyler won the final race of the season by taking the dual moguls competition while his teammate Mikael Kingsbury of Deux-Montagnes, Que., came second but took his third straight World Cup title on Friday. "Its been an amazing ride," said Bilodeau. "Very emotional." The two-time Olympic champion had no chance to catch Kingsbury for the Crystal Globe as overall champion, but wanted to push his friend and rival to the limit in the last race of his career. Kingsbury got down the hill quicker, but the judges gave the gold medal to Bilodeau on execution. "I knew the grand prix was done and I couldnt go up or down," said Bilodeau. "I looked at Mikael and said Im really honoured to have my last run against the best in the world. "I said Ill just enjoy it. I decided to do a back double, which is something you dont do in duals. Its too risky. But I thought its my last race, Im going to go for it. " On the womens side, Hannah Kearney of the United States won a fourth straight Crystal Globe and the fifth of her career. Kearney defeated Canadas Chloe Dufour-Lapointe in the final. Her sister Justine Dufour-Lapointe had a shot at catching the American for the title, but crashed in the round of 16 and lost to Perrine Laffont of France. With his win, Bilodeau broke freestyle leggend Jean-Luc Brassards record for World Cup podium finishes with his 48th, including 19 wins. Albert Pujols Authentic Jersey. "I never looked at the number of podiums," he said. "For me it was a day-to-day process of trying to be the best in the world. "Records are made to be broken. Im sure it wont last long. Mikael will break it in a year or two." The 26-year-old, who this year became the first freestyler to defend an Olympic gold medal, now plans to finish his accounting studies at Concordia University and enter the corporate world. Kingsbury, who has 38 World Cup podium finishes, said it was an emotional day for both skiers as they waited at the top of the final run of the season. "We did a big hug," said 21-year-old Kingsbury. "I told him it was an honour to be at his last run. "Then we both made amazing runs." While Bilodeau is bowing out, Kingsbury said his career is just getting started and he intends to try to stay on top through the next Winter Olympics in 2018 in South Korea. "Im still young and Ive got a lot to learn in the sport," he said. "Ive had an amazing career so far. "I never thought Id do as much as Ive done so far, but Ill work hard, get stronger in the gym. The best is still to come." The three Dufour-Lapointe sisters finished just behind Kearney in womens standings, with Justine second, Chloe third and Maxime fourth. wholesale nfl jerseys wholesale jerseys ' ' '

OKLAHOMA CITY -- LaMarcusAldridge had 25 points and 14 rebounds and the Portland Trail Blazers rallied from a 13-point second-half deficit to beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 98-94 in a showdown of Western Conference heavyweights on Tuesday night. Lawrence Timmons Youth Jersey . DamianLillard added 21 points and 11 assists and hit a pair of clinching free throws with 2.1 seconds left for Portland, which beat Oklahoma City for the second time in December. Portland (25-7) snapped a two-game losing streak but still trails Oklahoma City (25-6) by a half-game in the Northwest Division standings. KevinDurant had 37 points and 14 rebounds for the Thunder, which had won 12 of its last 13 and 20 of its last 22 games before Tuesday. But Durant managed only one point in the fourth quarter and missed an 11-foot jumper that would have tied the game in the final seconds. The Thunder, who scored only 16 fourth-quarter points, lost for the first time in six New Years Eve home games since the franchise moved to Oklahoma City. Oklahoma City led by 13 points midway through the third quarter, but Portland chipped away at that lead and took its first lead since the first quarter at 87-86 on two free throws by Aldridge with 3:58 left. ReggieJackson answered with a jumper to put Oklahoma City back ahead, but NicolasBatums 3-pointer gave Portland a 90-88 lead and the Blazers never trailed again. Portland led 94-90 after RobinLopez hit two free throws with 59.1 seconds left. Jackson, who entered the game as the third-best free-throw shooter in the NBA, went 1 of 2 from the line at the other end. Portlands WesleyMatthews missed a 3-point attempt and Lillard rebounded, but ThaboSefolosha stole the ball from him and Lillard fouled him. Sefolosha hit both free throws to pull Oklahoma City within 94-93 with 23.6 seconds left. Portlands MoWilliams missed two free throws with 15.8 seconds left and SergeIbaka rebounded for the Thundeer, but Lopez swatted the ball away and it went to Matthews, who was fouled by Durant and made two free throws with 9.2 seconds left. Durant went to the line with 8.2 seconds left and made the first free throw, but missed the second. The rebound was tipped to him, though, and he had an open look but left the shot short. Sefolosha fouled Lillard, who made both free throws to clinch the win. Portland 16-game streak of 100-point offensive outings ended, though, as the Blazers shot an uncharacteristic 39.6 per cent from the field (36 of 91) and 24.2 from 3-point range (8 of 33). Before Tuesday, the Trail Blazers had lost consecutive games for the first time all season, having fallen to Miami on Saturday and at New Orleans on Monday. Portland ended a three-game losing streak to the Thunder in Oklahoma City. The Thunder is 2-1 since All-Star point guard RussellWestbrook underwent his third surgery since injuring his knee during the playoffs in April. This season, Oklahoma City is 4-2 without Westbrook, who the team has said will be out until after the All-Star break. There were 10 lead changes in the games first eight minutes, but the Thunder used a 12-2 run to build a 34-24 lead early in the second quarter. Portland rallied within 40-36 at the 5:30 mark but went more than four minutes without scoring. Portland coach Terry Stotts burned two timeouts while trying to stop a 12-0 run by Oklahoma City and the Thunder led 54-42 at halftime. Matthews finished with 16 points and Batum added 15 for Portland. SergeIbaka had 17 points and ReggieJackson added 12 points and six assists for Oklahoma City. Notes: Four days removed from his most recent surgery, Westbrook made an appearance in the Thunders locker room before the game and was using a crutch . Ibaka picked up a quick technical foul from official Joey Crawford after Ibaka complained being called for a personal foul with 5 minutes left in the first quarter . Portland is 6-2 this season against the other 20-win teams in the NBA . Mark King, a Guymon native and the guitarist for rock band Hinder, performed the national anthem. Michael Palmer Womens Jersey . - ChrisBosh and DwyaneWade had 23 points apiece, and the Miami Heat beat the Los Angeles Lakers 101-95 on Wednesday for their sixth straight win. Kevin Greene Womens Jersey . The Richmond, B.C., native added eight rebounds and was named the tournaments most valuable player as the top-seeded Ravens defended their 2011 championship. "The biggest thing is to win the whole thing as a team," said Scrubb. As we head into the final 10 days of the Blue Jays stay in Florida, there a couple of areas of concern. For one, the Jays havent scored more than five runs in 13-straight games. Of course, in the spring, the full everyday line-up is rarely together for more than a couple of games a week and even then, only a few innings at a time. RyanGoins, for all he is capable of doing with the glove at second base, is only hitting .168 at last glance. BrandonMorrow, counted on so heavily this season, has had trouble commanding his four-seam fastball and has seemingly been dropped to the number-five slot in the rotatioon. On the flip side of that, DrewHutchison has looked so good that he has been elavated to the number-two position in the rotation between R.A Dickey and lefty MarkBuehrle. Closer CaseyJanssen started camp with should soreness, but he apppears to be doing well, throwing on the side and assures everyone he will be ready for opening day, despite not having seen any game action yet. J.A.Happs sore back seems to be coming around and hes been slotted in again as the number-four starter. The Jays Grapefruit Circuit record is only 7-10, but those records are rarely an indication of how a team is going to do in the regular season. A year ago, the Jays were 16-17 in Florida, yet only won 74 games for the 2013 campaign. St. Louis won the National League pennant after going just 16-15 in the spring. The Boston Red Sox played .500 ball in the sunny south at 17-17 in its first year under skipper John Farrell and then went on to beat the Cardinals in the World Series. In 2012, their final year with Farrell as manager, the Blue Jays went a scorching 24-7 in Dunedin, tops in the Majors, with a run differential of plus-79, yet they went on to stumble to just 73 wins during the season. The Detroit Tigers, though, werent too far behind the Jays at 20-8 and they made it to the World Series against San Francisco. The Giants had been 18-15 that spring and went on to win their second Fall Classic in three years. In 2011, the Kansas City Royals went 25-7, while the Seattle Mariners were 22-11. The Royals still havent made the playoffs since winning the World Series in 1985 and the Mariners havent made the playoffs in a dozen years. The most exciting aspect of spring training is watching the breakout performances of young players, as is with the case of the Jays DrewHutchison this spring. The rest of it is just about hoping your team can open the season healthy and can come close to living up to expectations. - Injuries could play a part in the American League West race and, in turn, the Wild Card. Two of the Oakland As starters are down with arm troubles. JarrodParker has forearm stiffness, which can be a precursor to ellow trouble, and the 25-year-old righty already had one Tommy John surgery in 2009. A.J.Griffin has elbow issues as well, and will find out shorttly if he needs Tommy John. Merril Hoge Jersey. Meanwhile, Seattles number-two starter HisashiIwakuma is recovering from a sprained ligamentin the middle finger of his pitching hand and is iffy, at best, for the start of season. The Ms top pitching prospect, TaijuanWalker, has bursitis in his shoulder and will likely start the season in the minors on rehab. - Some of the National Leagues better clubs havent escaped the injury bug, either. Atlanta Braves starter KrisMedlen likely needs his seond Tommy John and BrandonBeachy could also be on track for his second. The Bravesare also keeping a close watch on MikeMinors shoulder. Arizona Diamondbacks ace lefty PatrickCorbin is currently seeking a second opinion on whether or not he needs Tommy John. If that isnt bad enough for the D-Backs, the recently signed BronsonArroyo, an iron man with the Cincinnati Reds, is out indefinately with a disc problem in his back. The Philadelphia Phllies, of course, lost RoyHalladay to retirement. Now their number-one starter, ColeHamels, is dealing with left shoulder fatigue. Though hes starting to feel better throwing on the side, there is no guarantee Hamels will be ready for Opening Day. - I guess you could call it a Panama "Root Canal" for the New York Yankees over the weekend. While on their special goodwill tour of Panama, the home of their now retiredfuture Hall of Fame closer, MarianoRivera, the Yanks were no-hit by the Miami Marlins. It happened on Saturday at a jam-packed Rod Carew Stadium. The Marlins BradHand started off by throwing five perfect innings and striking out six. SteveCishek came in for a scorless sixth-inning before A.J.Ramos blanked the Yankees in the next two innings and then ArquimedesCaminero finished off the no-no in the ninth. - We talked about a lot of the pitching injuries, but this one appears to be both serious and mysterious. Tigers shortstop JoseIglesias, a key pick-up from Boston in a three-way deal last season, has a severe case of shin splints in both legs caused by a problem with his feet. He could miss a large chunk of this season, maybe even the entire season, leaving Detroit without a legit number-one shortstop. - Its not exactly a Babe Ruth-ian differential, but the Baltimore Orioles ChrisDavis had indeed a special season in the home run department last year. Daviss MLB-best 53 homers was nine better than American League runner-up MiguelCabrera of the Tigers and 17 up on the National League co-leaders PedroAlvarez of the Pittsburgh Pirates and the D-Backs PaulGoldschmidt at 36. The last time that happened was 2010, when the Blue Jays JoseBautista slugged 54 homers, 15 more than AL runner-up PaulKonerko of the Chicago White Sox at 39 and12 more than NL leader AlbertPujols, then of the Cardinals, at 42. wholesale nfl jerseys cheap jerseys from china ' ' '

Giggs is expected to manage the team for only the remaining four matches of the season before a more experienced successor to Moyes is appointed. "It has been a difficult week for the club and its been a bit of a whirlwind week for me but one Ive enjoyed," Giggs said. "It has been different, chaotic, and Ive been getting a little taste as its my fourth day in the job." Giggs came through the youth ranks at Old Trafford and was part of the famed "Class of 92" youth team that helped contribute to so much of the clubs success under Alex Ferguson, who retired last year after more than 26 years in charge. "Ive had to take a bit of stick (ffrom the players)," Giggs said. Wholesale Jerseys. "Things like, Where are you going to park? What do we call you? "The players have been great and the reaction in training has been sharp. Ive just tried to make things relaxed and for everyone to enjoy themselves ... lets have a good end to what has been a frustrating and disappointing season." The clubs most decorated player, who has made 962 appearances, is still in the squad and could pick himself to play against Norwich. "Ive just given myself a five-year contract," Giggs joked. "I havent done much this week but am still involved as a player as well." Giggs is being assisted by former teammates Phil Neville, Nicky Butt and Paul Scholes as he tries to stabilize a team in turmoil. "Its the proudest moment of my life," Giggs said. "Ive supported Manchester United all my life. Its been the biggest part of my life since I was 14, when I signed schoolboy forms. Im proud, happy, a little bit nervous but just like I am as a player, I cant wait for the game on Saturday." Moyes can now prepare for the future after finally agreeing on his severance package with United on Friday. "Terms of settlement have been agreed between the club and David Moyes in respect of the termination of his employment," the League Managers Association said in a statement. "A settlement agreement is in the process of being finalized." wholesale nfl jerseys cheap jerseys from china ' ' '

It was an inning like no other in Blue Jays history, at least not one that anyone can remember. nhl jerseys china . In the second game of their day/night doubleheader at Minneapolis, three Blue Jays pitchers, SteveDelabar, SergioSantos and J.A.Happ combined to issue eight walks, wild-pitched home three runs and gave up six runs in total on just one hit. That turned a 5-3 lead into a 9-5 loss, a twinbill sweep at the hands of the Twins and a series loss. Counting the nine walks issued by the two starters, R.A Dickey and DustinMcGowan in just eight and a third innings, the Jays surrendered 17 free passes on the day. Grant you, one "crappy day" as skipper John Gibbons put it, inflated these numbers, the Jays have dropped to 10th in pitching stats in the American League. Worse than that, their 4.05 team ERA is the worst in the AL East and so is their walks allowed total of 67.The walks total is particularly disturbing when you look at their division rivals. In order, Boston and the Yankees have only walked 37, Baltimore 39 and Tampa Bay 45. A year ago, the Jays issued 98 walks in the first month of the season. At the teams current average of just a fraction over four per game, and with 11 games remaining in April, they will finish with 111 for the month, and remember, they started last April at 10-17 and never really recovered. In the last five years, the Blue Jays exhibited their best control in 2010, the final season under Cito Gaston when Bruce Walton was the pitching coach. That season, they walked only 77. That year, they finished with 85 wins, and wound up in fourth place, 11 games off the division lead. In 2011, the walk total jumped to 107, then improved to 85 in John Farrells second and last year with the team. Then, the total jumped to 98 in April of 2013 and as stated, the club is now on pace for 111 this month.More walks, especially by the starters, generally means more pitches thrown, fewer innings pitched, more stress on the bullpen, and another up the track finish. The Blue Jays, whove fashioned an 8-8 record so far, are by no means in a crisis situation yet, but if they keep this pace up well into May, they will be. Misery Loves CompanyYou know the old saying, misery loves company. Well, the White Sox arguably had an even worse game walk-wise than the Blue Jays did on Thursday night. On Wednesday, they dropped a 14-inning five-hour 17-minute marathon at home by a 6-4 count. But the real story is how they lost. After starter JohnDanks gave them six decent innings of three-hit ball, albeit walking four batters, skipper RobinVentura went through seven relievers, including four in the 8th inning. In the 8th, relievers ScottDowns, JakePetricka, DonnieVeal and MaikelCleto each walked a batter and the Red Sox scored a run to cut the Chicago lead to 3-2 before Cleto finally got out of the inning. In the 9th though, he walked two more to lead off the frame before getting the hook. Matt Lidstrom took over, and allowed the tying run to score, but did manage to go two innings without walking anyone. Then Ventura handed the ball over to DanielWebb, who worked the 11, 12 and 13th innings, giving up one run while walking another three. Each team scored a run in the 11th, so it was 4-4 after 13. After 59 pitches, Webb was done. Ventura was out of pitchers, choosing not to use any of his other starters and really messing up the rotation. In the 14th inning, infielder LeuryGarcia went to the mound. He proceeded to walk two before giving up a game-winning two-run double to BoSox rookie centrefielder Jackie Bradley Jr. The Red Sox walked only three over 14 innings and struck out 15. The White Sox, who have one of the best pitching coaches in the business in Don Cooper, walked 15 on the night and struck out only five. Hard to believe two games like this happened on back-to-back nights. Altogether, the Blue Jays two games at Target Field lasted six hours and 15 minutes. The White Sox played a game, plus the five extra innings in five hours and 17 minutes. Incidently, the White Sox have walked 79 batters, the worst in the American League, and their ERA is 4.90, better only than Minnesotas. Oddly enough, Chicago has the same record as the Blue Jays at 8-8. The Jays are tied for second in the AL East with Baltimore, two games back of the Yankees, while the White Sox are tied for third with the Royals, just a game behind first-place Detroit. Sandwiched in between, just a half game behind the Tigers, are the Twins, if you can believe it with the worst earned runs average in the American League. Safe to say, nearly three weeks into the season, the hitters are ahead of the pitchers for the most part. Numbers Game Some surprising numbers in the early going. BoSox righthander ace ClayBuchholz still doesnt have a victory. Hes (0-1) with a 5.51 ERA. On top of that, the top two batsmen to switch teams in the offseason are struggling. RobinsonCano, who jumped from the Yankees to Seattle as a free agent, went into Thursday nights game in a 3-18 slide, but did get one hit and drove in three runs in an 8-6 loss to Texas. Overall, Cano is hitting .271 with one homer and eight runs batted in. PrinceFielder, who was dealt by the Tigers to the Rangers, is only hitting .164 with one homer and four runs batted in. Like their parent club, the Buffalo Bisons got swept at home in a doubleheader on Thursday by Scranton Wilkes Barre, the Phillies farm club. On the plus side, RickyRomero, who thanks to five early season postponements, was making only his second start of the season, gave up just one run over six innings on just two hits in the opener. He did walk four and strike out two, but he also retired 11 of the final 12 batters he faced and induced 12 ground ball outs in getting a no-decision. On the flip side, KyleDrabek got beat up pretty good in the second game. In just four innings, he gave up five earned runs on 10 hits, including three homeruns. He struck out four and walked none, as the Bisons record dipped to 7-5. wholesale jerseys . The first match will take place on October 25th in Edmonton and will be followed by a second match on October 28th in Vancouver. VALENCIA, Spain -- Defending champion David Ferrer beat former winner Nicolas Almagro 6-2, 6-3 to advance to the Valencia Open final on Saturday. Jeff Samardzija White Sox Jersey . Ferrer will play Mikhail Youzhny on Sunday after he defeated Dmitry Tursunov 6-2, 6-4 in an all-Russian semifinal. "Youzhny is a good player," Ferrer said. "He has a good backhand and also slices the ball very well. It will be a close final." World No. 3 Ferrer saved the only break chance Almagro had on the indoor hard court while taking three of six break opportunities as he improved to 14-0 against the fellow Spaniard. Besides last year, Ferrer won the event in 2010 and beat Almagro in the 2008 final, ending the latters two-year title run. It will be Ferrers eighth final of the season. He has lost five straight after winning at Auckland and Buenos Aires. Youzhny served seven aces en route to the victory that gives him a chance at adding to his nine career titles. "I served well and Im happy to be back in the final," Youzhny said. Juan Lagares Mets Jersey . United released a statement saying Mata will move for a club-record fee "subject to a medical and the agreement of personal terms." Although United didnt give any further details, the club this week made a bid of 37 million pounds ($61 million) for Mata, which would eclipse the 30. Ernie Banks Cubs Jersey . The former world No. 1 Djokovic, who is the top seed here despite being ranked No. 2, snuck past 35-year-old Czech showman Radek Stepanek in four high- quality sets, 6-4, 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 7-6 (7-5), on Centre Court. Djokovic appeared relieved when he converted on his first match point by swatting a cross-court forehand winner that just caught the line to end an affair that featured only two service breaks.Got a question on rule clarification, comments on rule enforcements or some memorable NHL stories? Kerry wants to answer your emails at cmonref@tsn.ca. Kerry, In the closing minutes of the second period of Game 4 between Pittsburgh and Columbus there were the remnants of two broken sticks behind the Pittsburgh net. The official in that zone didnt pick up any of the pieces even when the play went deep in the Columbus end. I know he has other responsibilities, but it would only take a couple seconds to gather the sticks up and remove them from play. Ive seen other times where a ref does pick up a broken stick while the game is still in play and dumps it to the nearest players bench. So why do broken sticks sometimes get picked up but not other times? Personal choice or something else going on? Louis Frlan III Louis:You are correct in your assertion that the ref has other (more important) responsibilities with play in progress; particularly to watch for the presence of a penalty infraction; which by the way I would like to see called more consistently! If any debris (broken stick) or lost equipment (glove, helmet) can be easily accessed, most refs will pick up the obstacle(s) and discard them or return them to the players bench or penalty box as they pass by in the normal flow of action. I did this whenever I was able to do it "safely". An objective of every referee is to sustain game flow. In picking up debris I applied referee rule No. 1 - common sense and foresight! From a safety issue there is potential (no matter how slight) for a player to step on a broken stick and crash into the boards or fall awkwardly thereby sustaining a needless injury. With an eye toward the potential for bad things to happen, I was always concerned that a player would shoot a broken stick in the direction of the puck or puck carrier which could result in an interference infraction or the assessment of a penalty shot. I could prevent any opportunity for these things to occur by picking up the debris with a quick swoop whenever the play dictated. The refs are cautioned about being distracted through picking up broken sticks that could result in missing something elsewhere. For this reaason some refs just arent comfortable veering their focus away from the play. Jim Rice Red Sox Jersey. . I can appreciate that fact and it is their personal choice, Louis. The debris behind and around the Penguins net on this play however was an accident waiting to happen. Play continued for one minute and 30 seconds after BrooksOrpiks stick was slashed hard by RJ Umberger and broken in half below the goal line at the side of the net which allowed Columbus to gain puck possession (no penalty call but deserved). On the other side of the net the remnants of SidneyCrosbys broken stick eventually provided additional obstacles for players to maneuver around. The Blue Jackets applied puck pressure for 10 seconds before the Pens safely dumped the puck into the Columbus end zone. This would have been a prime opportunity for the referee on the Pittsburgh goal line to safely swoop in and collect the trash. Until the play was finally stopped when the same referee called a tripping penalty to MattNiskanen, the Penguins had sustained puck possession throughout the neutral zone and into the Blue Jackets end for extended periods. Another primary missed opportunity for the ref to play pick up the sticks took place when a Blue Jackets dump-in was retrieved by Niskanen. Matt set up behind the Pens goal and led an uncontested breakout after contacting one broken shaft with his skate and avoiding the others as he carried the puck out of Jackets end zone. The ref could have easily followed behind Niskanen, bent down while looking at the play with his head up and quickly gathered the sticks but obviously wasnt comfortable in doing so. Twenty seconds later the Blue Jackets attacked and play forced the referee to skate backwards behind the Penguins net. The ref maneuvered through the obstacle field bumping into and stepping over portions of broken sticks, as did the players, until Niskanen tripped BrandonDubinsky to stop play. While it makes good sense for a referee not to forsake his primary duties by going out of his way to become a trash collector, I believe that "common sense" should be applied to remove obstacles when the opportunity is safely presented. wholesale nfl jerseys cheap jerseys from china ' ' '

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. Brandon Linder Jaguars Jersey . -- With owner Tom Gores seated courtside, the Detroit Pistons looked at least somewhat like a team that could be tough to play against during the second half of the season. Of course, they were facing the short-handed Philadelphia 76ers. AndreDrummond had 22 points and 14 rebounds, and Detroit overwhelmed Philadelphia 113-96 Saturday night. GregMonroe added 21 points and 12 rebounds. He and Drummond combined to go 18 of 21 from the field. "I would say that were better than our record," said Gores, the California-based owner who has been at a handful of Detroits home games this season. "My focus right now is how to get this team to the next level." The Pistons have won back-to-back games at The Palace for the first time since their first two home games of the season. Detroit is 9-15 at home and 19-27 overall. Philadelphia was without rookie of the year candidate MichaelCarter-Williams, who sat out with a sore right shoulder. "We decided to give him some time off and he needed it," 76ers coach Brett Brown said. "Day to day is a fair assessment." TonyWroten led the 76ers with 18 points. BrandonJennings and KyleSingler added 20 points apiece for Detroit. The Pistons signed JoshSmith and traded for Jennings in the off-season, but with the team still struggling, theres been talk that another move could be coming. Monroe has been at the centre of that speculation, since Detroit has a logjam of frontcourt players -- but he and Drummond were both outstanding Saturday, and Smith added nine points, nine rebounds, seven assists and four steals. Gores indicated that the upcoming trade deadline is not a major focus -- or at least, its no more important than a number of other aspects of team management. "We arent focused on the deadline or anything like that. We are looking at getting the guys better," Gores said. "Were doing a lot of homework, but our main job is to make sure our players are at their maximum." Monroe and Drummond went a combined 9 for 9 in the first quarter, and Detroit led 32-22 after one thanks to that inside presence. "That was something that I think just happened in the flow of the game -- its not something that we really talked about," Monroe said. "Once it worked a few times, we kept going back to it." Late in the second, Philadelphias EvanTurner drew a foul on rookie KentaviousCaldwell-Pope, and Turner appeared to flip the ball back at a group of players under the basket. Jennings responded by throwing the ball at Turner, and both he and the Philadelphia forward were hit with technical fouls. "I lost my balance and as I was trying to catch the ball, I guess I hit him in the face with the ball," Turner said. "It wasnt intentional. It was an unfortunate mistake." The Pistons led 57-49 at halftime, and they broke the game open with a 16-2 run in the third quarter. Singler and Caldwell-Pope made back-to-back 3-pointers to make it 74-56, and another 3 by Singler capped the run and gave Detroit a 23-point lead. "I think were still attacking, instead of trying to keep the lead and playing conservatively," Detroit guard WillBynum said. "I think we were attacking in the fourth quarter until we pretty much got the win." The Pistons led by as many as 28. Drummond finished 10 of 11 from the field, and Monroe was 8 of 10. Detroit was coming off a three-day layoff because its game at Atlanta on Wednesday was postponed because of bad weather in Georgia. Singler had 10 rebounds, giving the Pistons three players with at least 20 points and 10 rebounds for the first time since Dec. 3, 1997. GrantHill, Bison Dele and LindseyHunter all did it in that triple-overtime win over Phoenix. NOTES: The Pistons had 22 offensive rebounds and outrebounded the 76ers 57-44 overall. ... Philadelphia had 64 points in the paint to Detroits 60. They entered as the top two teams in the NBA in that department. ... The Pistons are 3-0 against the 76ers this season. ... Philadelphia is 3-22 when held under 100 points. Brandon Fields Dolphins Jersey . Louis Blues just continue to roll -- especially against the Nashville Predators.
