Ronan Flood, also Harringtons brother-in-law, fell ill on the sixth hole of the second round and was rushed to the clubhouse at Durban Country Club, where he was treated by a doctor. Flood carried Harringtons bag when the Irishman won the 2007 and 2008 British Opens and the 2008 U.S. PGA Championship. Harrington sought help from Irish-born photographer Pat Cashman as a stand-in caddie before organizers arranged for a replacement. Evan Gattis Jersey . Free agent season in the CFL will open a few days earlier this year. Von Miller Orange Jersey . The league and CFL Players Association announced the 2014 free agency period will open on Tuesday, February 11 at Noon et/9am pt. Free agency was originally scheduled to open on Saturday, February 15 and was moved to avoid it falling on a long weekend in several provinces. Ronnie Hillman Jersey . Grant was fired a day after the Cavs dropped their sixth straight game, an embarrassing home loss to a Los Angeles Lakers team that started with eight players and finished with five. Peyton Manning Orange Jersey . -- Kevin Pangos had 27 points and Drew Barham added 17 to lead No. WASHINGTON -- CameronMaybin didnt need to slide to make it safely into second base. He did it anyway, and in grandiose style. Welcome back to the majors, Mr. Maybin. Maybin contributed two hits as IanKennedy and the San Diego Padres celebrated the return of their centre fielder with a 4-2 victory over the Washington Nationals. Maybin ruptured his left biceps in spring training and missed the Padres first 25 games. He played 10 rehab games with Triple-A El Paso before his call-up on Sunday. The 27-year-old Maybin hit a shot down the third-base line in his first at-bat, sliding in with a double. "Its fun being back in the bigs, being out there with all these guys who I love playing with," Maybin said. "Ian pitched his butt off. Fun being behind a guy like that who can command the zone like he does." Command indeed. Kennedy (2-3) gave up three hits, struck out nine and walked none in seven innings. He retired 16 straight batters at one stretch. After giving up back-to-back doubles to AnthonyRendon and JaysonWerth in the first inning, Kennedy allowed only one more hit. HustonStreet closed for his ninth save in nine chances. "First inning, youre kind of like a lot of pitchers, youre trying to feel whats going to work for that moment," Kennedy said. "I feel like I just got ahead of guys more often." Kennedy also received strong support in the field. First baseman YonderAlonso made two outstanding plays and WillVenable robbed Werth of a potential extra-base hit with a diving catch in the right-field corner. "It kept fading away. I thought it was a double, for sure," Kennedy said. "As soon as he dove, extended, it was a beautiful play." It was reversal from Saturday when the Padres had as many errors (three) as hits in a 4-0 loss. "What a difference 24 hours makes," San Diego manager Bud Black said. "I liked the way our guys bounced back. They put yesterday behind them and we won a ballgame on the road against a good team." It was a tough day all around for Washington. Outfielder BryceHarper was puut on the disabled list with a thumb sprain. Dennis Smith Blue Jersey. Starting pitcher TaylorJordan woke up with a fever and laboured through four innings with low velocity. RossDetwiler (0-1) and Aaron Barrett were ineffective in relief. "I dont know if its the flu or what," Nationals manager Matt Williams said of Jordan. "There was some question as to whether he would even start. Gave him a bag of fluids and he ate something this morning, but fastball velocity was way down, weak out there. So he gave us what he could today." NateMcLouth hit his first home run for the Nationals. Starting in left field for Harper, McLouth entered the game with an .097 batting average. Trailing 1-0 in the fourth, the Padres tied it when ChrisDenorfia walked, YasmaniGrandal doubled and JeddGyorko had a sacrifice fly. The go-ahead run came an inning later off Detwiler as EverthCabrera singled, stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on Denorfias single. Singles by Venable, Maybin and pinch-hitter NickHundley loaded the bases in the sixth inning. After Barrett fanned Kennedy for the second out, he walked Cabrera on four pitches to force one run home and walked Denorfia on a 3-2 pitch. Afterward, it was time for the Padres to celebrate the win and Maybins return. "Hes obviously a very dynamic player, capable of doing everything well on the field," Denorfia said. "More than anything we really missed him in the clubhouse. Were really happy to have him back." NOTES: To make room for Maybin, the Padres sent pitcher Kevin Quackenbush to Triple-A El Paso. ... Nationals RHP DougFister made his first of two scheduled rehab starts at Single-A Potomac on Sunday, throwing 59 pitches, including 42 strikes. ... Washington will have days off before and after a two-game series at Houston that begins on Tuesday when LHP GioGonzalez (3-1, 3.00) faces RHP JarredCosart (1-2, 6.12). ... San Diego travels to San Francisco for a three-game series starting Monday with RHP TysonRoss (2-3, 3.16) opposing LHP Madison Baumgarner (2-2, 3.14). cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Brewers roughed their old teammate, ZackGreinke, handing the right-hander his first loss at Miller Park. Evan Gattis Braves Jersey . CarlosGomez hit a go-ahead two-run double, JonathanLucroy tied a career high with three hits and five Milwaukee relievers combined for five scoreless innings as the Brewers beat Greinke and the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-2 Tuesday night. Mike Fiers (1-2), MichaelGonzalez, JohnAxford, BrandonKintzler and JimHenderson pitched Milwaukee to only its fourth victory in its last 19 games by allowing four singles. Henderson threw the ninth for his ninth save, striking out pinch-hitter ScottVanSlyke with runners on first and second. "When the bullpen comes together like that and shuts those guys out for the rest of the game, even though their record isnt that great, thats a good hitting team," said Fiers, who got out of a bases-loaded jam with one out in the fourth. "We definitely did a great job coming out of the pen." Greinke (2-1), making his second start since returning from a broken left collarbone, gave up season highs of nine hits, five earned runs and three walks in four-plus innings against his former team. The right-hander, traded by the Brewers to the Los Angeles Angels last July 27 before signing with the Dodgers in the off-season, had won his first 15 decisions in Milwaukee. "I didnt think about it at all," Greinke said. "Everything was bad, not just command. Just no feel out there, no adjustments to be made. Started out bad. I got out of some jams early but never really got better." Greinke gave up four runs in the fourth by allowing hits to the first five batters. JeanSegura led off with a triple over the head of right fielder AndreEthier and came home to tie the score at 2-2 on a single by RyanBraun. Singles by AramisRamirez and Lucroy loaded the bases for Gomez, who gave Milwaukee a 4-2 lead with a ground-rule double over the left field wall. "Zacks a great teammate," Gomez said. "I faced him when he was in Kansas City and he really had my number. So we had that conversation (when Milwaukee was in Los Angeles at the end of April) and I said, I want to face you, now. And he said, all right, but Im going to do the same. Im going to strike you out. He probably laughed at my first at-bat (a strikeout). But I continued to look for good pitches to hit. He threw me one and I hit a double." MattGuerrier replaced Greinke and gave up a run-scoring grounder to YunieskyBetancourt that increased the lead to 5-2. Milwaukees rally ended when Gomez was picked off third by Guerrier before JeffBianchi was caught stealing second. Brewers starter HiramBurgos lasted only 3 1-3 innings, as the rookie right-hander gave up two earned runs, six hits, four walks and struck out three. "It sure would be nice to get into the seventh inning with some of our starters," said Milwaukee manager Ron Roenicke. "Our pitch count is going up way too fast. He got himself into trouble but made some pitches to get out of it." Lucroys two-out single in the first gave Milwaukee a 1-0 lead. Los Angeles went ahead in the fourth on run-scoring singles by Greinke and NickPunto. However, the Dodgers left 14 runners on base, including nine in the first five innings, to lose for the seventh time in their last eight road games. "Thats really kind of been the story as far as our offence has been concerned," Los Angeles manager Don Mattingly said. "We had the right people up in the right spots. We had our chances. We just werent able to do it." NOTES: All 10 of the Dodgers hits were singles. . Milwaukee won for just the second time in its last nine home games. ... Greinke was 25-9 in 1 1/2 seasons with the Brewers. ... The Dodgers were trying to win consecutive road games for just the third time this season. ... Home plate umpire Wally Bell warned both benches when RonaldBelisario threw behind Lucroys back in the seventh. In the top of the inning, Ethier was hit in the elbow on a pitch from Axford. ... MattKemp, from Midwest City, Okla., will donate $1,000 to the Oklahoma tornado relief fund for every homer he hits through the All-Star break. Brandon Beachy Braves Jersey . The team says Paul is day to day and is questionable for Mondays game against New Jersey. Paul is averaging 18.0 points, 8.4 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 37.3 minutes in nine games for the Clippers, who beat Miami and the Lakers in their last two games. Phil Niekro Jersey . The top-ranked Czech Republic will visit Canada for a first-round tie Feb. 7-8, 2015. "This will be our first World Group tie and the team knows that no matter who the opponent, it will be a very talented team that is one of the best in the world," Canadas Fed Cup captain Sylvain Bruneau said in a release.ZURICH, Switzerland -- It will be Cristiano Ronaldo vs. Zlatan Ibrahimovic for a place at the World Cup. Portugal and Sweden were the first two teams drawn by FIFA on Monday for the European playoffs, though the pairing was talked about as a clash of superstar forwards in a two-leg series scheduled for Nov. 15 and 19. "World-class players like Ronaldo and Ibrahimovic, they do something extra to change the game," Sweden coach Erik Hamren said. "I am pleased we have one, too. But we need our team to be really good." Also, France will play Ukraine, with the return game in Paris; Greece was paired with Romania; and Iceland, the lowest ranked of the eight teams at No. 46 in the world, will host the first leg against Croatia, which fired its coach last week. The four winners will complete Europes 13 entries in the 32-team World Cup draw on Dec. 6 in Salvador, Brazil. Ronaldo and Ibrahimovic were consigned to the playoffs after their teams finished second in their qualifying groups behind Russia and Germany, respectively. "They will be evenly balanced and very competitive games," Portugal coach Paulo Bento said. "Ibrahimovic is an imposing figure, but the Swedes are more than that, they are good collectively." Portugal also had to advance to the 2010 World Cup through a playoff, after twice drawing 0-0 with Sweden in the group. France, the 2006 World Cup runner-up, also makes its second straight trip to the playoffs after defending champion Spain won its group. Four years ago, a notorious handball by Thierry Henry helped France beat Ireland in extra time. "(Ukraine) dont concede many goals and it will be a long away trip for us," France coach Didiier Deschamps said. Freddie Freeman Jersey. "But to have the return leg at home is a good thing." France and Ukraine last met in a 2012 European Championship match which was delayed several minutes after kick off by a torrential rain storm in Donetsk. France eventually won 2-0. Iceland, which has a population of about 315,000, is looking to become the smallest country ever to play at the World Cup. That record is held by 2006 qualifier Trinidad and Tobago, which had about 1.2 million. Though Iceland lacks the recent pedigree of Croatia, the 1998 semifinalist, the pairing pits a veteran coach against a novice. Iceland coach Lars Lagerback will be trying to reach his fourth straight World Cup with a third different team. He coached his native Sweden at the 2002 and 2006 tournaments, and Nigeria in 2010. Croatias playoff matches mark the coaching debut of 42-year-old Niko Kovac, who stepped up from the under-21 team to replace Igor Stimac, who was fired after poor results. "I met Niko a little when he took his (coaching) license," Lagerback said. "He looks like a clever guy." Kovac said he "did not expect this situation" and will work alongside his brother, Robert, another former World Cup stalwart for Croatia. "With him I am never afraid," said Kovac, who will be focusing on teamwork. "There was no team on the pitch. We have some good players but everyone working for himself." Greece coach Fernando Santos said he would have preferred to play the first match in Romania. "My message to the fans is that they should believe in the national team, go to the stadium, fill it, and put pressure on our opponents," Santos said. cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

BATHURST, N. Kenny Britt Jersey .B. -- The Baie-Comeau Drakkar took over sole possession of first place atop the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League on Thursday with their sixth straight win. Jeremy Gregoire scored 4:30 into overtime to lift the Drakkar past the Acadie-Bathurst Titan 1-0. The win moved the Drakkar (31-12-4) two points ahead of the idle Blainville-Boisbriand Armada in the overall standings. Philippe Cadorette stopped just 18 shots for Baie-Comeau, while Miguel Sullivan was far busier for Acadie-Bathurst (17-26-5) with 42 saves. --- WILDCATS 7 SAGUENEENS 4 MONCTON, N.B. Vladimir Tkachev scored twice as the Wildcats mauled Chicoutimi. Conor Garland, Mathieu Olivier, JC Campagna, Ivan Barbashev and Christophe Lalonde also scored for Moncton (24-23-2). Dominic Beauchemin had a pair of goals for the Sagueneens (24-23-1), with singles coming from William Gignac and Laurent Dauphin. Monctons Alex Dubeau and Chicoutimis Domenic Graham each finished with 31 saves. --- REMPARTS 6 OLYMPIQUES 2 GATINEAU, Que. Anthony Duclair scored a hat trick to lead Quebec to a win and take over the goal-scoring lead in the QMJHL. Duclairs three goals moved him to 40 through 45 games, one better than Val-dOrs Anthony Mantha who leads the league in points and has played eight fewer games than Duclair. Kurt Etchegary, Francois Godin and Olivier Archambault also scored for the Remparts (27-12-8), while Francois Brassard stopped 29 shots. Emile Poirier and Vincent Dunn each had a goal for the Olympiques (28-17-2), with Anthony Brodeur making 29 saves. Austin Pettis Black Jersey . - The Abbotsford Heat hope a last-minute goal keeps their season alive for more than one extra game. Tavon Austin Jersey . The United States-born Fiva, who was eliminated in the first round at the Sochi Olympics, won the final ahead of Tomas Kraus of the Czech Republic, Didrik Bastian Juell of Norway and Christopher Del Bosco of Montreal. Duncan, from London, Ont., won the small final and is clinging to a tight lead in the standings as he aims to become the first Canadian to win a mens skicross Crystal Globe. The Boston Bruins wont be a nervous group when the puck drops Wednesday night in Game 7 against the Washington Capitals. Bruins defenceman AndrewFerence joined TSN Radio 1050 in Toronto on Monday and said that his club, which appeared in three Game 7s during last seasons journey to the Stanley Cup, trust each other and are prepared. "You can look and have no doubt that the guy beside you is not overly nervous and not going to change his game up," Ference said of his teams attitude heading into overtime during Game 6. "Its contagious. Everyone can feed off each other." Ference, who recorded a goal and assist during the Bruins 4-3 overtime win in Game 6, said that there is a simple philosophy when it comes to a game plan for Game 7. "The secret about Game 7 is not treating that much differently than every other game," Ference said. "One of the biggest mistakes teams make is trying to chaange too much because its Game 7. Aaron Donald Jersey. ." One of those players that Ference will trust in Game 7 is goaltender TimThomas, who made news during the regular season when he opted to not attend the clubs Stanley Cup visit to the White House. Ference was supportive of his goaltender. "Hes up front, hes not hiding anything so honesty is a good virtue whether you agree with the opinions or not," Ference stated. "The thing that nobody ever questions is his competitive level and commitment to keeping the puck out of the net. "At the end of the day that trumps everything for us." The veteran blueliner also felt that the Thomas story was overblown, as everyone in the locker room was familiar with Thomas beliefs. Despite the controversy, the 33-year-old said it was a non-issue. "We have it figured out. Weve got a good thing in our locker room." cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands -- In a severe blow to the Netherlands World Cup hopes, midfielder Kevin Strootman looks certain to miss the tournament in Brazil because of a serious knee injury. Matt Asiata Jersey . AS Roma said Monday that the 24-year-old Strootman will undergo surgery after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament and possibly damaging the meniscus in his left knee during Sundays 1-0 loss at Napoli. Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal said in a statement he talked to the injured midfielder by phone. "I can imagine his world is falling apart at the moment," Van Gaal said, adding that Strootmans loss "is also a blood-letting for the Netherlands team." The left-footed midfielder has captained the national side in the past and is widely considered a future full-time leader for his country. A strong tackler, he is also comfortable bringing the ball forward in attack. Strootman has played 25 times for the Dutch national side as a midfield enforcer, scoring three times. He was one of only a handful of players virtually guaranteed a place in Van Gaals World Cup squad. "Kevin played a major role in our qualification for the World Cup in Brazil," Van Gaal said. The 2010 runners-up have been drawn to play defending champion Spain, Chile and Australia at the World Cup. Anthony Barr Purple Jersey . - The way MarkTeixeira looks at it, getting booed on the road is a badge of honour. Brian Robison Purple Jersey . They also designated outfielder Kenny Wilson for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster. A post-season that started with the Kings having to dig themselves out of a three-game hole against San Jose ended Friday night in a 3-2 double-overtime triumph over the New York Rangers to seal their second Cup in three seasons. The final lasted five games, with three going to overtime -- including two double OT contests. It was the only playoff series that didnt go the distance for the Kings. AlecMartinezs winner at 14:43 of the second overtime was a fitting conclusion to a post-season slog that saw the Kings run a gauntlet of Western Conference heavyweights before dispatching the speedy Rangers in the final. It was the 26th game of the Los Angles playoff run, matching the single-year league record set by Philadelphia in 1987 and Calgary in 2004, who both lost seven-game series in the final. L.A. did set a record for most playoff games by a Cup winner. The Kings had to go through a murderers row in the West just to get to the final after finishing 10th in the league with a 46-26-8 record and 100 points. Los Angles had to get by San Jose (111 points), Anaheim (116) and defending champion Chicago (107) in one of the most gruelling post-season routes on record. They overcame a 3-2 series deficit in the second round against Anaheim and rallied from 2-0, 3-2 and 4-3 deficits in Game 7 of the Western Conference final in Chicago. Their latest campaign lasted 115 games, counting seven pre-season, 82 regular-season and a record 26 post-season contests. Los Angeles went 7-0 in playoff elimination games along the way. Only the 1975 Islanders won more (eight). The Kings are only the fourth team in playoff history to overcome a 3-0 series deficit in rallying to beat the Sharks in the first round. And they are the first team to play -- and win -- three Game 7s on the road in a single post-season. Throughout it all burned the belief that if the Kings played their game, they knew they were tough to beat. "We really earned it," said forward JustinWilliams, named winner of the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP after opening the scoring with his ninth goal and 25th point of the post-season. "Its been a wild year," said forward JeffCarter. "A lot of hockey, a lot of ups and downs ... We had to dig deep. We really had to battle." Like teammate DrewDoughty, Carter won Olympic gold and hoisted the Cup in 2014. "A hell of a year," he said. "Couldnt ask for anything more." Captain DustinBrown hoisted the Cup first, then handed it off to veteran defenceman RobynRegehr, a spectator since suffering an injury in Game 1 of the Anaheim series. Brown sacrificed his body to get to the Cup, delivering 125 hits in the post-season. The native of Ithaca, N.Y., is the first U.S.-born captain to win multiple Stanley Cups. Family and friends packed the ice as fans pressed their nose to the glass to watch the post-game partying. Coach Darryl Sutter watched with a smile, his son Christopher -- who has Down Syndrome -- hoisting the Cup in the celebration. "You got to give these guys full marks," he said simply of his players. The Kings squandered 3-0 series leads both times en route to hoisting the Cup. But they got the job done in five games -- three wins coming via overtime -- this time compared to six against New Jersey in 2012. Los Angeles remarkable road to this Cup was long and tortuous. It was an edge-of-your-seat record-setting ride though all-comers that will be hard to beat. Martinez ended the longest game in Kings history, surpassing Game 5 of the 2013 Western Conference final (91:40), by wristing home a rebound of a TylerToffoli shot to seal the Cup. "I havent been married and I havent had kids but as far as Im concerned so far this is the greatest feeling in the world," Martinez said. "It came out pretty quick," he said of the rebound. "I just tried to get it on net then I blacked out." It was the 17th Stanley Cup-clinching overtime goal in NHL history. Martinez eliminated the Chicago Blackhawks in OT in Game 7 of the Western Conference final at Chicago on June 1. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, he joins MartinGelinas (Calgary, 2004) and AdamHenrique (New Jersey, 2012) as the only players in NHL history to notch two series-clinching overtime goals in one post-season. Amazingly Los Angeles did not hold a lead in the first three games of the final. The Kings led for just 14.6 per cent of the first four games -- a 40:01 stretch that was all in Game 3. The Kings trailed 2-0 the first two games of the series but rallied both times to win in OT. The Rangers probably deserved better. "Obviously everybodys very disappointed in the outcome," said New York coach Alain Vigneault whose team went past Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Montreal en route to the Rangers first final in 20 years. "You go into this hoping that you dont regret anything. We put it out there," he added. "We gave our best shot, best effort. Three games here all went to OT. What can I say?" The never-say-die Kings, who trailed by two goals four times in the first two games of the final, proved once again that the third period is their domain. They have four victories thhis post-season when trailing after two periods. Everson Griffen Jersey. And in mounting the latest comeback, they put an end to New Yorks remarkable 5-0 record in elimination games. The win improved the Kings playoff overtime record in 2014 to 5-2. Goaltender HenrikLundqvist kept the Rangers in the game for the second outing in a row. The elegant Swede stood on his head for much of the evening, especially when push came to shove. "During the regular time he made some big saves. I thought in the overtime, though, thats when we played our better hockey of the night," said Vigneault. "Had some real good looks. Both goaltenders were outstanding." Lundqvist ended the evening face down in disbelief. He may still be shaking his head. The contest started slowly and took its time to boil, but finished in nail-biting, adrenalin-pumping end-to-end fashion. The third period was all Kings as a goal by MarianGaborik pulled Los Angeles even at 2-2 some eight minutes in. Gaborik knocking in a rebound of a Doughty wrister from the point at 7:56. It was his 14th of the playoffs -- following a season in which he had 11 goals in 41 games. Los Angeles outshot New York 12-3 in the period and 29-15 in regulation time. The shots were 42-25 for L.A. after four periods of hockey and 51-30 when the dust settled. Overtime was a thrill ride as both teams hit the post and Los Angeles poured it on. The Kings also had to kill off a minor penalty in each overtime. New York defenceman RyanMcDonagh hit the post with a blast from the blue-line in the first OT period. Toffoli also rang a shot off the post, some 13 minutes in. Lundqvist stopped Williams twice at point-blank range during one sequence late in overtime as the Kings turned the screws. Then the Rangers mounted two assaults on the L.A. goal before ChrisKreider fired wide on a semi-breakaway. In the second overtime, a DanGirardi shot clipped the outside of the Kings post and L.A. goalie JonathanQuick make several key saves. Kreider and BrianBoyle scored for the Rangers in a 3:53 stretch late in the second period -- the first on the power-play, the second short-handed -- as New York clawed its way back to lead 2-1 after 40 minutes that saw just 12 shots on the L.A. goal. That New York outburst silenced the sellout crowd of 18,713 at Staples Center. The Rangers were 11-1 when leading after two periods in the playoffs and had won 39 of 43 games in that scenario including the regular season. But L.A. refused to go quietly. The Kings have outscored their opponents 30-16 in the third period this post-season, including 3-0 in the Cup final. Fridays game was the 93rd game of the 2014 playoffs, surpassing the previous single-year record of 92 established in 1991. It was also the 63rd post-season game for the Kings dating to 2012, tying the NHL record for most games over a three-year span (Dallas, 1998-00; Detroit: 2007-09). It was the 25th post-season game for the Rangers, who finished 12th in the league at 45-31-6 and 96 points but still made it to their first final in 20 years by eliminating Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Montreal. Going into Friday, the Rangers were 5-0 when facing elimination. Lundqvist led the way in such games with a 1.00 goals-against average and .971 save percentage. The Rangers record in elimination matches is now 11-3 dating back to 2012. New York hadnt got a shot on target by the time the Kings went ahead at 6:04, with Williams scoring on a deft backhand as linemates JarretStoll and DwightKing poked away at Lundqvist after a shot from the point by WillieMitchell. It took New York almost eight minutes to record a shot on goal. That followed a third period in Game 4 in which they only managed one shot. It took the Kings some 27 minutes to crack double digits in shots. New York, frustrated for stretches by the L.A. forecheck, was stuck at seven. The New York power play, 1-for-19 in the final up until then, finally clicked at 15:37 of the second period as Kreider tipped in a McDonagh feed from the faceoff circle to tie it at 1-1. McDonagh threaded the pass through three Kings to set up the goal, which came on the Rangers 11th shot of the night. McDonagh, who turned 25 on Friday, becomes the first player to record a point on his birthday in the Cup final since Jari Kurri did it in 1990 for the Oilers. Boyle then scored shorthanded to give the Rangers a 2-1 lead at 19:30. The big man deftly roofed the puck after a nice curl-and-drag past Doughty, with New Yorks DominicMoore in the penalty box for hooking. The speedy CarlHagelin triggered the play, beating defenceman SlavaVoynov to the puck, as Boyle notched his third of the post-season. The Rangers third short-handed goal of the playoffs had Moore celebrating in the box. The Kings ranked 26th in the league in average goals per game during the regular season, averaging 2.42 a game. It helped that they led the league with just 2.05 goals against per game. They found their scoring touch in the playoffs, leading all teams with an average of 3.40 goals a game going into Friday. It was the 26th overtime game of the playoffs, tied for the third-highest total in one year (the record of 28 was set in 1993). Los Angeles is the 17th team in NHL history to win the Cup in overtime and the first to do so at home since the 1908 Islanders. cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

ARE, Sweden - Olympic champion Marielle Thompsons pursuit of a second skicross World Cup title will go down to the wire. nfl jerseys china . Thompson, of Whistler, B.C., was fourth in Sundays race while rival Fanny Smith of Switzerland finished first, cutting Thompsons lead in the overall standings to just five points with only next weekends World Cup finals in France left to go. Ophelie David of France was second while Vancouvers Georgia Simmerling was third. "The overall is pretty exciting for both the women and the men," said Thompson, who has 655 points compared to Smiths 650. "In the final, I was leading into the first turn and then Ophelie passed me and I got pushed into the powder and lost all my speed. Thats how she goes sometimes." Simmerling won her first heat Sunday and was second in her quarter- and semifinals to advance to the big final. "It was good today. I had to fight hard and it all came together," Simmerling said. "I messed up my timing on one of the features at the end of the start and I was fourth. Then Marielle (fell back) and the three of us just ended up 1-2-3. "Ive had a pretty consistent year, I would say. Theres one more race to go and Im hoping for a strong result again." Danie Sundquist, of Calgary was third in her first heat and finished 20th overall. Olympic silver medallist Kelsey Serwa, of Kelowna, B.C., did not participate as she took the post-Olympic season off. On the mens side, Austrias Thomas Zangerl finished first while teammate Andreas Matt was second. Armin Niederer of Switzerland picked up the bronze. Mathieu Leduc of Comox, B.C., was the top Canadian, finishing eighth. "It was definitely nice to see I can compete with the top guys," Leduc said. "Im just hoping to establish myself on the World Cup and put my name in there. "Im learning from my mistakes and trying to bank all my experiences and put them to good use." Calgarys Brady Leman and Montreals Chris Del Bosco did not advance past their first heats. Louis-Pierre Helie, of Berthierville, Que., did not finish his qualification run, while Tristan Tafel, of Canmore, Alta., did not qualify for the round of 32 heats. Canada sits second (1,898) behind Switzerland (2,124) in the ski cross Nations Cup standings with one race to go. jerseys from china . After losing the first two games of this set in Arlington the Tigers showed some signs of life on Tuesday, as MiguelCabrera, VictorMartinez and JhonnyPeralta all homered and AustinJackson went 3-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI for the AL Central champs in a 5-2 win. wholesale nfl jerseys . The Jets jumped into a quick 2-0 lead in the first on goals by ZachBogosian (3rd) and DevinSetoguchi (9th) 1:05 apart. Toby Enstrom and AndrewLadd drew assists on the Bogosian goal, a point shot that seemed to dip and get by former Moose goaltender EddieLack. Each round of the playoffs, I like to forecast the round simply by using shots on goal and goaltender save percentage to come up with a baseline for the series. It offers no assurances and doesnt apply any context, like, for example, taking injuries into account. Last year, this method forecasted the first round at a 7-1 clip; this year it was 5-3, with losses on Columbus, Colorado and San Jose. In the first two cases, their strong goaltending led to a calculated advantage, but it can be difficult for goaltending superiority to take effect over much larger samples, let alone seven games. As for the Sharks, they were in a virtual toss-up situation with the Kings, favoured by the smallest of margins. The expected goals for each team in the series are determined by taking each teams shots for and against over the course of the season, as well as through the first round of the playoffs, and splitting the difference. So, for example, Boston had 32.1 shots on goal per game and Montreal has allowed 28.6 shots on goal per game; the average of those two numbers, 30.35 shots, is the number that is then multiplied by (1 - the opposing goaltenders save percentage) to determine an expected goals per game for the Bruins. Finally, the number is multiplied by seven to indicate an expected goal total for a seven-game series. Theres no guarantee that scoring more goals in a series will result in winning four games first, but the odds certainly favour the team that scores more. So, lets see how the numbers shake out for Round Two: Team SF SA Goaltender SV% Expected GF/Series Boston 32.1 29.3 TuukkaRask 0.933 15.93 Montreal 30.9 28.6 CareyPrice 0.925 14.12 Verdict: The Bruins are favoured, with a slightly better shot differential and slightly better goaltending, and its simple enough that way. But when the Habs and Bruins meet in the playoffs, strange things can happen. Higher-seeded Canadiens teams have been bounced by lower-seeded Bruins teams and vice versa. Between these two incarnations of the Canadiens and Bruins is a wonderful contrast in styles as the Bruins are more physically-imposing while the Canadiens are a smaller, skilled group. While some teams (including the Red Wings in Round One) avoid getting into confrontations with the Bruins, the Canadiens havent always taken that approach, and it not only makes for entertaining hockey, it adds some variability to the process. Furthermore, if the Canadiens can keep TuukkaRask off his game (his .908 save percentage vs. Montreal is his lowest vs. teams that hes faced at least 10 times in his career), then that could help close the calculated gap between the teams. Team SF SA Goaltender SV% Expected GF/Series Pittsburgh 30.4 29.1 Marc-AndreFleury 0.915 16.66 N.Y. Rangers 33.1 29.1 HenrikLundqvist 0.920 18.50 Verdict: The Penguins were forecasted to lose -- or, more accurately, score fewer goals -- against Columbus, but here they are in the second round, looking at a similar forecast, against a team with a better shot differential and better goaltending. The Penguins are healthier than theyve been for most of the season, which helps, and they have elite forwards that can shake results. The Rangers could control play and it wouldnt take a HenrikLundqvist collapse to see the Penguins get through. cheap jerseys. All it might take is SidneyCrosby and EvgeniMalkin going off for a few games. Heck, they managed to get past Columbus with contributions from a lot more than Crosby and Malkin. Defencemen PaulMartin and MattNiskanen led the Penguins with eight points, BrandonSutter added five and BeauBennett chipped in four. In my playoff picks, I had the Penguins going past the Rangers and its on the expectation that, at some point, the Penguins elite players will bury more of their chances, though that also requires some faith in Marc-AndreFleury and that hasnt been a safe feeling for the Penguins in the playoffs for quite some time. Team SF SA Goaltender SV% Expected GF/Series Anaheim 31.0 28.8 FrederikAndersen 0.918 17.26 Los Angeles 31.6 27.0 JonathanQuick 0.915 17.33 Anaheim 31.0 28.8 JonasHiller 0.912 17.26 Los Angeles 31.6 27.0 JonathanQuick 0.915 18.60 Verdict: I presume that the Ducks are going back to rookie FrederikAndersen, even after he was pulled twice against Dallas in the first round (but I included calculations for Hiller anyway). This is another really close series in which the Kings get slightly favoured because they have superior shot differential. The Ducks have exceeded more advanced possession metrics all year, in part because they have been insanely fortunate when it comes to shooting in close games. Oh, and here too. That isnt the kind of thing that seems possible to repeat over time but, it worked enough to take down Dallas in the first round, so it wouldnt come as a shock if they can do it against Los Angeles. Team SF SA Goaltender SV% Expected GF/Series Chicago 32.9 27.8 CoreyCrawford 0.919 18.15 Minnesota 27.2 27.4 DarcyKuemper 0.914 15.59 Chicago 32.9 27.8 CoreyCrawford 0.919 20.05 Minnesota 27.2 27.4 IlyaBryzgalov 0.905 15.59 Verdict: Again, a presumption that the Wild will have DarcyKuemper to start the series, despite leaving Game Seven against Colorado with an injury. If the Wild are really rolling with IlyaBryzgalov, then the forecast will be unfavourable, just as it was in the first round, but if Kuemper is in, he offers a slightly better chance. No matter who is in net for the Wild, though, they will have their hands full, because they are facing a team that generates a whole lot more shots than their opponents. So long as CoreyCrawford is decent, and there arent any major injuries, then the Blackhawks will warrant their status as prohibitive favourites. There is a list right now that is at least five fighters long. Mark Ingram Jersey . All injured. These fighters suffered mostly knee injuries and all of these ailments are bad news for fight fans. Chris Weidman, Georges St. Pierre, and Tarec Saffiedine top the list and for St. Pierre, its the second time with this particular injury. This is the toughest sport on the planet. Tell me another sport where the practice claims as many injuries as the game itself. Honestly I have never worked with an athlete who can get back into training within two weeks of a fight. Ok, thats a lie, Ive had a few fighters get first round KOs. If the fight goes one round, the fighter is going to miss two weeks at least. The whole point of me writing about the training is to bring about a change in the fans perspective of what goes into a fight, for example the lead up is intense. As my seventh week goes in the books, I needed the support over at Elite Performance. I dont want to diet anymore and I dont want to push hard. 500 feet on the Jacobs ladder, five sets of five minute long foot touches on a tall box with a minute rest and speed skipping are all grinding on me. Add that to the fact that Im only hitting a heavy bag or working with the Nexersys for striking, Im not sparring or rolling with anyone. MMA fighters are impressive for making it through a camp. So as Jeff Fisher gently encourages me to get through my bike sprints with 100% effort, or go train somewhere else if I want to take it easy, I think about guys who train so hard they get injured. The guys who dig down deep, do the physical conditioning, then go full throttle spar. Then after all of that, go into a cage and fight for 15 to 25 minutes. As they compete, if the action slows because two great fighters find themselves in a ground game stalemate, the crowd boos. That infuriates me. Id love every fan to get to the seventh, eighth, ninth or any week of a training camp. Eat the food, drink the water, sweat, and put in the hours. Then grapple with even just an average level jujitsu player. Once you get pinned, and you grab on for dear life, think about how boring it is to be there. The game, and what people who understand MMA love is the chess match. Its the preparation that went into that moment when two amazing athletes find themselves in a tie. The training, the work, and the injuries are what make MMA an amazing sport. Go put your time in. Change your health, fitness and your view of whats really going on in that cage. If you have tried CrossFit, go spend some time kickboxing, or better, try jujitsu. There is no better workout on the planet. Week 7 is in the books and the lesson learned is really how tough this is on the body. Im not even competing. Shout out to Dan Henderson at 40+ to be doing this and knocking people out. Benjamin Watson Womens Jersey . CSN New England reports that the team is interested in Arizona Cardinals wide receiver LarryFitzgerald, whom they reportedly tried to acquire last off-season.MILWAUKEE -- Ryan Arcidiacono had 20 points and 11 assists, and coolly guided No. 4 Villanova in overtime following a frenzied finish to regulation of a 94-85 victory over Marquette on Saturday. Arcidiacono had six points and two assists in the extra period. He hustled for a loose ball with 37.7 seconds left that allowed Villanova coach Jay Wright to call a timeout and avoid a turnover. James Bell, who finished with 30 points, followed with two free throws to make it a three-possession game for the Wildcats (17-2, 6-1 Big East). Todd Mayo had 18 points including the last 10 in regulation for Marquette (11-9, 3-4) to help force overtime at 77-77. A layup by Villanovas Tony Chennault withone second left in regulation was waved off by the officials after Steve Taylor, Jr., drew a charging foul. Wright pleaded with the officials while Marquettes fans erupted in jubilation. Arcidiacono helped his coach forget about the frantic ending, and Villanova snapped Marquettes 20-game winning streak in home conference games. Marquettes last loss at home to a Big East foe was 67-60 to Cincinnati on March 2, 2011. The Golden Eagles had the third-longest such streak in the country entering Saturday behind Gonzaga and Weber State, who were both at 23 games. The hard-fought win for Villanova at one of the toughest venues in the league helped ease the sting of a humbling 28-point loss at home earlier in the week to Creighton. Darrun Hilliard had 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting for Villanova. Davante Gardner had 29 points and 13 rebounds for Marquette. The Wildcats frustratedd Marquette early with jumpers, but Gardner led the Golden Eagles push in the paint to stay within a possession or two for much of the second half. Sam Mills Womens Jersey. Villanova turned away every run -- until the end of regulation. The Wildcats kept it interesting after missing 5 of 7 from the free throw line in a stretch in the final 1:11. Mayo followed a running jumper with athree from the corner to get Marquette within 75-74 with 13.2 seconds left. Arcidiacono responded with two free throws, but then fouled Mayo on three-point attempt at the other end with 4.8 seconds left. Mayo hit all three free throws -- the last one tantalizingly bouncing on the rim a couple times before falling through for a 77-77 tie. It set up Chennaults contested drive for a potential game-winner, but the officials charging call whipped the crowd into a frenzy. Overtime had seemed unattainable after JayVaughn Pinkstons dunk gave Villanova a 68-57 lead with 4:53 to play. But the Golden Eagles fought back in their third straight overtime game before falling short. Villanova allowed an opponent to shoot at least 50 per cent from the field a second straight game, a startling statistic for a team that prided itself on holding teams under that mark for 47 straight games. While Creighton did its damage from the perimeter, Marquette pounded the ball inside with a 54-30 advantage in the paint. The bullish 6-foot-8 Gardner led the way, shooting 9 of 16. Marquette, though, wasted opportunities at the free throw line, especially in regulation, and finished 21 of 31 for the game. cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

Kurt Etchegary, Francois Godin and Olivier Archambault also scored for the Remparts (27-12-8), while Francois Brassard stopped 29 shots. The United States-born Fiva, who was eliminated in the first round at the Sochi Olympics, won the final ahead of Tomas Kraus of the Czech Republic, Didrik Bastian Juell of Norway and Christopher Del Bosco of Montreal.

SAO PAULO, Brazil -- A group of about 50 protesters vandalized part of the construction site of a World Cup stadium and chanted anti-FIFA slogans during an inspection by organizers in Cuiaba on Tuesday. Steve Weatherford Black Jersey . FIFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke and other officials were met by jeering protesters when they arrived at the construction site of the Arena Pantanal. The demonstrators, who were complaining about the cost of next years World Cup and demanding improvements for local citizens, entered the venue and painted messages that called for "Less World Cup, more health and education." The protesters, mostly local teachers, carried banners reading "FIFA go home" and chanted slogans from the stadium pitch -- while FIFA and government officials continued their inspection tour from the stands. With bulldozers in the background, the demonstrators tried to disrupt the visit by blowing whistles and playing drums and other instruments. "People have the right to protest, but they should respect other people, like the construction workers in the stadium," Valcke said. "They have the right to protest, but it should be peaceful." He also said the World Cup must be staged in all scheduled 12 cities. "There is no way that one city will be off the list," Valcke said. "The match schedule will be respected." Brazil Sports Minister Aldo Rebelo and former national team stars Ronaldo and Bebeto were among those who witnessed the protest. The incident came a day after violent demonstrations in some of Brazils largest cities, including one by teachers seeking better pay in Rio de Janeiro. The Confederations Cup in June was marked by protests and more are expected during the World Cup. Because of the demonstrators, Valcke made a symbolic handover of tickets to workers at a different part of the site. In the southern city of Curitiba, a Brazilian labour judge on Tuesday reversed a ruling that had halted construction at the Arena da Baixada for nearly a week because of workers safety concerns. Work resumed, but a new inspection was scheduled for the end of the week. The Arena da Baixada was less than 80 per cent completed by the end of August, the lowest rate among the venues under construction. Phil McConkey Giants Jersey . -- Chris Wondolowski scored his 10th goal of the season and the San Jose Earthquakes made it stand for a 1-0 victory against the Colorado Rapids on Wednesday. Phil McConkey White Jersey . That four-game skid in early January seems as if its a long time ago. Kessel scored twice, JamesvanRiemsdyk had a goal and an assist and the Maple Leafs beat the Colorado Avalanche 5-2 on Tuesday night for their sixth straight win.EDMONTON -- Edmonton Oilers head coach DallasEakins wasnt concerned with how his team won on Tuesday, simply that they did. JordanEberle scored in overtime as the Oilers continued to try to drag themselves back from a tough start to the season with a 5-4 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday. The Oilers had led 4-1 at one point, but allowed the Hurricanes back into the game. Carolinas JustinFaulk took a penalty early in the overtime session for a hit from behind on RyanNugent-Hopkins. The Oilers forward was able to remain on the ice and set up the winner, sending a pass to Eberle at the side of the net to put the game away 1:48 into OT. "Id love to have a win every night. I dont care how we get them," Eakins said. "It was two points. Would we have like to have ended that game 4-1? Absolutely. But the important thing is there is two points in the bank." Eberle said it was a good feeling to come away with the victory, especially after almost letting it slip away. "It was a relief to get the win," he said. "We played extremely well in the first and for a little bit in the second and then completely took our foot off the gas. I dont know what it was, but we just started turning pucks over and losing battles and playing bad defensively. Its frustrating when that happens, but we found a way to win and thats the biggest thing." TaylorHall, NailYakupov, Nugent-Hopkins and JesseJoensuu also scored for the Oilers (11-18-3) who have gone 7-3-1 in their last 11 games. Edmonton also improved its troubling home record to 7-9-2 with a 2-1-1 record through the first four games of a five-game homestand. "We are working hard to get out of the hole we created for ourselves and it seems we are on a bit of a run now," Hall said. "Now it is time to get two in a row, something we havent been able to do for a while." TuomoRuutu, JordanStaal, EricStaal and JeffSkinner replied for the Hurricanes (13-13-6), who have lost two in a row on the heels of a three-game winning streak. "Were a pretty resilient team," said Carolina head coach KirkMuller. "We have to look at the positives, we got a point. We got out-played in the first, and came back in the second. We had a really good second and third. We got a really big point and possibly could have had two." The Oilers were buzzing to start the game and got on the board just 1:33 into the first period. Hall had a clear lane to the net and seemed to catch Carolina goalie CamWard napping with a quick shot that beat him glove-side. It was Halls 12th goal of the season and fifth in the last three games. The Hurricanes tied the game just over six minutes into the opening frame on a power-play goal. Ruutu was able to tip a Skinner shot on net and then get his own rebound after Edmonton defender NickSchultz failed to clear the puck in front and put it past Oilers starter DevanDubnyk. Edmonton vaulted back in front with nine minutes remmaining in the first period as Yakupov took a pass from Hall and sent a blast from the slot that went through the legs of both defenceman RonHainsey and Ward. Odell Beckham Jr Red Jersey. It was just the fourth goal of the season for the 2012 first-overall draft pick. Yakupov was looking for another with three minutes left with another bullet from in tight, but the puck went off the post. Edmonton kept coming and made it 3-1 with 1:46 remaining in the first period as Nugent-Hopkins was able to beat Ward with a shot up high while sliding in towards the net on his knees. Edmonton out-shot the Hurricanes 14-6 in the opening 20 minutes. The Oilers added to their lead less than two minutes into the second period as MarkArcobello worked hard to get a backhand away off his knees from behind the net to set up Joensuu for a quick shot on the doorstep and a 4-1 Edmonton advantage. Carolina started to push its way back into the game and was finally rewarded for it midway through the second. After sustained pressure in the Edmonton zone, a puck came loose to JordanStaal in front of the net and he buried his seventh of the season through Dubnyks legs. The Hurricanes made it a 4-3 game eight minutes into the third period, as EricStaal was able to pick off a poor Eberle pass and streak down the ice on a short-handed breakaway. Staal faked a slapshot and got Dubnyk to commit and go down before calmly putting the puck into the empty net behind him. Shortly after, Carolinas RileyNash was tossed from the game and given a major penalty for a hit from behind on Edmontons CoreyPotter. But it was a wasted opportunity for the Oilers, who barely registered a shot. "We definitely lost some momentum there and they gained some," Nugent-Hopkins said. "We cant let that happen. When you get a five-minute power play, you have to get at least one goal. That wasnt our best job. But it is a big win for us and we have to build off this now." The lack of offence proved costly as the Hurricanes tied the game with just over five minutes remaining in the third after Edmonton failed to clear the zone in a sloppy sequence. Skinner was able to take a no-look turnaround shot from the point that somehow got past Dubnyk for his 10th goal of the year to make it 4-4 and eventually send the game to extra time. Both teams return to the ice on Thursday as the Hurricanes play the third game of a four-game trip in Calgary against the Flames, while the Oilers wrap up a five-game homestand against the Boston Bruins. Notes: It was the first of two meetings this season between the Oilers and Hurricanes, who havent played a game against each other since December, 2011. It was only the 19th regular season meeting ever between the two teams, who met in the 2006 Stanley Cup final. Their next game will be on March 16 in Carolina. ... The game featured the NHLs top two stars from the past week. Skinner was the leagues first star after scoring five goals and adding an assist. Hall was the second star with four goals and two assists. cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

PEORIA, Ariz. Justin Upton Jersey . - Seattle Mariners pitcher HisashiIwakuma will not throw for four to six weeks because of an injury to the middle finger of his right hand. Iwakuma reported for his physical Wednesday at Mariners spring training headquarters and had a splint over the finger. Hes been diagnosed with a strained tendon and will be re-examined by a hand specialist in Arizona in three weeks. The injury isnt expected to require surgery, at least for now, but hes likely out for all of spring training. Iwakuma said his finger got caught as he tried to retrieve a ball in some netting while working out in Southern California on Jan. 20. "I knew it was injured. I didnt think it was a major thing," Iwakuma said through team translator Antony Suzuki. "I rested my finger for about a week and started playing catch again, long toss. I thought it was good but then the pain didnt go away." Along with ace FelixHernandez, Iwakuma has given Seattle a formidable duo at the top of its starting rotation. He went 14-6 with a 2.66 ERA and 185 strikeouts in 2013. "Luckily, this does not appear to be a serious injury," Mariners general manager Jack Zduriencik said in a statement. "It is a setback for Kuma, but we are confident that he will quickly overcome the missed time and be able to rejoin our rotation early in the regular season." Iwakuma said he wants to be ready for the season but isnt sure it will happen. "To be honest, very disappointed with what happened," Iwakuma said. "We have to go from here on. I look forward to helping the team in any way and I look forward to coming back as soon as possible, too." Atlanta Braves Jersey .Y. -- Marcos Ambrose should be on pins and needles but says hes not. Brandon Beachy Authentic Jersey . Tanaka has certainly lived up to the hype this season, going 10-1 with an American League-best 2.02 ERA. The Japanese right-hander went the distance to win his fourth straight start on Wednesday in Seattle, as he held the Mariners to a pair of runs and six hits.ABBOTSFORD, B.C. - Blair Jones scored the winning goal in the Abbotsford Heats 2-1 victory over the San Antonio Rampage on Tuesday in American Hockey League action. Jones now has four goals in his past three games. Markus Granlund also scored for Abbotsford (8-4-1) and has three goals in his past four games. Joni Ortio made 23 saves, picking up his fourth-straight win since Reto Berra was called up by the Calgary Flames. The Heat were coming off a 3-0-0 Eastern road trip. John Lee scored for San Antonio (4-6-0), who had a two-game win streak snapped. Michael Houser stopped 23 shots. Abbotsford got a two-man advantage with less than two minutes to go in the first. Corban Knights one-timer slap shot from the point was deflected by Grandlund over Housers shoulder, giving him two goals on the year. Mark Cundari thought he had made it 2-0 two minutes into the second, but his goal was immediately waved off because a Heat player pushed a Rampage defender into the goaltender. The Rampage tiedd the game at 14:02 of the second. Andrelton Simmons Authentic Jersey. Lees wrist shot from the point found its way through two sets of legs, giving the defenceman his first on the year. That came in his third game this season after scoring just once in 50 games in his rookie campaign. Houser came up big for his team five minutes into the third period, first stopping Ben Street on a breakaway and then getting a toe on Max Reinharts shot from the slot, to keep the game tied 1-1. Not to be outdone, Ortio made a pair of athletic saves around the eight minute mark, including a toe save on Vincent Trocheck from the slot. Jones scored his goal at 13:28 while the Heat had another two-man advantage. Tyler Wotherspoon teed up a one-timer slap shot for Jones, who beat Houser top corner for his fourth of the season. The game featured four five-on-three power plays three for the Heat and 20 total infractions whistled. Abbotsford went 2 for 8, while the Rampage were 0 for 7 on the power play. cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

MINNEAPOLIS - RaulIbanezs first opportunity to be an everyday major league player came with the Kansas City Royals. Darryl Strawberry Authentic Jersey. Returning to the Royals more than a decade later, his hope is for another experience: post-season play. The Royals signed the 42-year-old Ibanez Monday, nine days after he was released by the Los Angeles Angels. "Its been in the works for a while. I was really excited about the opportunity to come here. I like the makeup of the club, and I like the possibilities. Theyre endless," Ibanez said in Minnesota before the Royals played the Twins. "Theres a great opportunity to do some special things here." The Royals entered Monday 3 1/2 games behind first-place Detroit in the AL Central and 1 1/2 games out of a wild-card spot. Manager Ned Yost said hell probably play Ibanez in the outfield, at first base and as the designated hitter. "Hes what we call a professional hitter," Yost said. "So we think hes going to be a big addition to our team." Ibanez, the second-oldest active player in the majors behind Clevelands JasonGiambi, who is on the disabled list, batted just .157 in 57 games for the Angels. Though 10 of his 26 hits were for extra bases, he said his balance was "totally off" at the plate. "Im just going to be myself and try to help this team any way I can," Ibanez said. This is his fifth team since 2011. Ibanez hit 29 home runs just last year for Seattle, the team that he broke in with in 1996. He didnt regularly crack the lineup until joining the Royals in 2001, and in 2002 he had his breakout year with a .294 batting average, 37 doubles, 24 home runs and 103 RBIs in 137 games. "I have some very fond memories of the city. My son was born in Kansas City. Nothing would please me more than to be part of something that hasnt been done here in a long time, and thats getting into the post-season," Ibanez said. "Ive been in from the other side, and when youre playing against them you look at that team and you realize how far the organization has come and how much progress theyve made." The Royals made several moves Monday. Ibanez and infielder ChristianColon were added to the roster, and infielder PedroCiriaco and outfielder JustinMaxwell were designated for assignment. Colon was recalled from Triple-A. The fourth overall pick in the 2010 draft was batting .296 with 48 runs, 14 doubles and 14 steals in 74 games for Omaha. Yost said Colon will play second base, shortstop and third base. Kansas City also traded left-hander DonnieJoseph to the Miami Marlins for cash. He was designated for assignment on June 24. The 26-year-old Joseph pitched in one game for Kansas City this season, getting two outs on June 16 in Detroit. The Royals got him during the 2012 season in a trade that sent reliever JonathanBroxton to Cincinnati. Keith Hernandez Authentic Jersey . The thunderous cheers quickly changed to an appreciative chant: "Ma-son! Ma-son! Ma-son! Headed to New York with new life, Mason sure earned this curtain call. Matt Harvey Jersey . -- Last month, RichieIncognito said severe repercussions would be warranted if the Miami Dolphins kept allowing sacks at such an alarming rate.WACO, Texas -- Kansas coach Bill Self knows most people look at how Andrew Wiggins plays as a barometer for what to expect from the eighth-ranked Jayhawks. Dont make the mistake of overlooking the other players around the Big 12s top-scoring freshman. Naadir Tharpe scored 22 points, nine in a go-ahead run before halftime, and the Big 12-leading Jayhawks rebounded from their first league loss with a 69-52 victory at Baylor on Tuesday night. "Weve just got to be a team that its going to be a different guy most every night," Self said. "And (Tharpe) stepped up when we needed him to step up." Early on, there were three ties and nine lead changes. Tharpes short jumper with 3 1/2 minutes left in the half broke a 25-all tie and put the Jayhawks (17-5, 8-1 Big 12) ahead to stay. The tiebreaking shot was Tharpes third basket in a 14-3 spurt over the final 5 minutes of the first half, and he added a 3-pointer with a minute left. He then made another 3 on Kansas opening possession after halftime. Wiggins, a native of Vaughan, Ont., finished 4-of-13 shooting and didnt make his first basket until a half-court shot to beat the buzzer going into halftime for a 35-27 lead. "Well, we ran that play for him at the end of the first half to get him going," Self joked of Wiggins, who finished two points off his season average. "It was big. It gave a great momentum push going into halftime," said Perry Ellis, who had 14 points and 10 rebounds. "It was great that he knocked that down. It got him going." Cory Jefferson had 14 points to lead Baylor (14-8, 2-7), which lost its fourth consecutive game at the Ferrell Center after a 13-game home winning streak. Its the longest home drought since dropping six straight in 2005. The Bears, coming off a win at then-No. 8 Oklahoma State that snapped their overall five-game losing streak, was trying to set up for a final shot before halftime when Kenny Chery threw an errant pass that Wiggins intercepted. "Round 1 is over in the league. We have to do betteer in Round 2," Baylor coach Scott Drew said. Gary Carter Jersey. "The good thing is I believe we can win every game, but with the Big 12 being like it is we can lose every game. We have to make sure we play well to have a chance to win." Baylor has never won consecutive games over Top 25 opponents. The Bears shot only 29 per cent from the field (16 of 55) -- Drew, looking for a positive, pointed out they did have assists on all but one of those made baskets. They were outrebounded 45-31. Kansas was coming off an 81-69 loss Saturday at surging Texas. "We just came out there without energy. I felt like even though Texas played that tremendous game out there, we kind of beat ourselves," said Tharpe, who sat the final 10 minutes of that game when had only three points on 1-of-4 shooting. "We didnt come out with any kind of energy, we had nothing. After they made a play, we had nothing coming back. So we knew coming into today in Waco, we had to come out with some fire right away. And thats what we did." In their regular season finale last March, the Jayhawks lost 81-58 at Baylor. They still had a share of their ninth consecutive Big 12 title, but that loss kept them from winning it outright. Baylor was within 49-44 midway through the second half and Wiggins had just shot and missed the rim. But the Bears missed three free throws on the same possession. Then, with Baylor students chanting "Air Ball!, Air Ball!", Wiggins swished a 3-pointer from the right wing. Wiggins scored again on the next possession to push the lead to 54-44, and had the next basket as well with a dunk with 7:49 left. Brady Heslip had 12 points on four 3-pointers, but didnt score again after his last gave Baylor a 22-21 lead with 6:34 left in the first half. "We were just playing him behind his numbers. We were running behind him," Tharpe said of second-half adjustments on Heslip. "We just knew that he got a lot of good looks off in the first half, and we couldnt let that happen again." cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

Johns IceCaps dominated the Portland Pirates 5-1 on Wednesday in American Hockey League play.PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender TomasVokoun will miss 3-6 months while undergoing treatment for blood clots. The 37-year-old Vokoun hasnt played since the blood clots were discovered last month. Vokoun said Wednesday he hadnt thought about retirement yet and wants to see how the treatment plays out before making any kind of decision. "Im just in the beginning of this road," Vokoun said. "Obviously all kinds of things cross your mind. Right now Im not thinking about my career or, you know, playing hockey. Im more worried about long-term health." This is the second time in Vokouns career hes been sidelined by the condition. He missed extensive time while playing for Nashville in 2006 with a similar issue, but says the two injuries are not related. Vokoun will be able to train as usual but cant play because of the blood-thinning medication he must take during his recovery. After Alpena, I went to Flippin, a town of about a thousand in Marion County, which had more miles of unpaved roads than any other in our state. I went to see two young men I wanted to run my campaign there, Jim Red Milligan and Kearney Carlton. They put me between them in Reds pickup and took off down one of those dirt roads to Everton, a tiny place in the most remote part of the county, to see Leon Swofford, who owned the only store and whose UGGS on sale bailey bow support was worth a couple of hundred votes. About ten miles out of town, Red stopped the truck in the middle of nowhere. We were engulfed in dust. He took out a pack of Red Man chewing tobacco, put a wad in his mouth, then handed it to Kearney, who followed suit. Then Kearney handed it to me and said, We want to see what youre made of. If youre man enough to chew this tobacco, well be for you. If Cheap UGGS youre not, well kick you out and let you walk back to town. I thought about it and said, Open the damn door. They glared at me for about five seconds, then roared with laughter and took off down the road to Swoffords store. We got the votes there, and a lot more over the years. If they had measured me by my taste for Red Man, I might Cheap UGGS outlet still be wandering the back roads of Marion County.
A few weeks later, Id be tested like that again. I was in Clarksville in the Arkansas River valley with my twenty-two-year-old county leader, Ron Taylor, who was from a prominent political family and politically wise well beyond his years. He took me out to the county fair to see the county sheriff, whose support Ron said we had to have to carry the county. We found him at the rodeo grounds, holding the reins of a horse. The rodeo was about to begin with a parade of horses marching around the arena. The sheriff handed me the reins and told me to join the parade and Id be introduced to the crowd. He promised that the horse was well behaved. I was wearing Cheap UGGS for toddlers a dark suit and tie and wing-tipped shoes. I hadnt been on a horse since I was five, and then only to pose for a picture in a cowboy outfit. I had turned down the chewing tobacco, but I took the reins and mounted the horse. After a lifetime of watching cowboy movies, I thought, how hard could it be? When the opening ceremony started, I rode out into the arena just as if I knew what I was doing. About a quarter of the way around the arena, right after Cheap UGGS sale Id been introduced, the horse stopped and reared up on its hind legs. Miraculously, I didnt fall off. The crowd clapped. I think they believed Id done it on purpose. The sheriff knew better, but he supported me anyway. |

what they saw as their prerogatives
I finished my round of the Ozarks in Newton County, one of the most beautiful places in America, home of the Buffalo River, which recently had been named the first river protected by Congress under the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act. I stopped first in Pruitt, a small settlement on the Buffalo, to UGG Boots uk cheap see Hilary Jones. Though he lived in a modest home, he was a road builder and might have been the wealthiest man in the county. His familys Democratic heritage went all the way back to the Civil War and before, and he UGG Boots uk online had the genealogical books to prove it. He was deeply rooted in his land along the river. His family had lost a lot of it in the Depression, and when he came home from World War II he worked for years to put it all back together again. The Buffalos designation as a protected river was his worst nightmare. Most landowners along the river were given life tenancies; they couldnt sell the land to anyone but the UGG Boots uk kids government in their lifetimes, and when they died only the government could buy it. Because Hilarys homestead was on the main highway, the government was going to take it by eminent domain in the near future and make it part of the headquarters operation. He and his wife, Margaret, had eight children. They wanted the kids UGGS on sale womens to have their land. There was an old cemetery on it where people born in the 1700s were buried. Whenever anyone died destitute and alone in the county, Hilary paid for the burial in his cemetery. I supported protecting the river, but I thought the government should have let the old homesteaders keep their land under a scenic easement, which UGGS on sale cheap would have precluded any development or environmental degradation but allowed families to pass the land on from generation to generation. When I became President, my experience with the folks on the Buffalo gave me a better understanding than most Democrats of the resentments a lot of western ranchers had when environmental considerations clashed with what they saw as their prerogatives. |

maybe just so he could go back to bed
Hilary Jones finally lost his fight with the government. It took a lot out of him, but it never killed his passion for politics; he moved into a new house and carried on. He spent a memorable night with Hillary and me in the White House. He almost cried when Hillary took him into the map room to show him the war UGG boots outlet uk map FDR was using when he died in Warm Springs, Georgia, in 1945. He worshipped FDR. Unlike Bo Forney, he spent the night in the Lincoln Bedroom. When he visited us in the White House, I kidded him about sleeping in Lincolns bed, which Bo Forney had turned down. Hilary said at least he had UGG Boots uk slept on the side of the bed that was under Andrew Jacksons picture.
From the day I met him until the day I flew home from the White House to speak at his funeral, Hilary Jones UGG Boots uk sale was my man in Newton County. He embodied the wild, beautiful spirit of a special place I had loved since I first saw it at sixteen.
The county seat, Jasper, was a town of fewer than four hundred people. There were two cafs, one frequented by Republicans, the other by Democrats. The man I wanted to see, Walter Brasel, lived beneath the Democratic caf, UGG Boots uk on sale which his wife ran. I got there on a Sunday morning and he was still in bed. As I sat in the little living room, he got up and began to put his pants on with the door from the living room to the bedroom open. He wasnt fully awake, slipped, and was rotund enough to literally roll UGG Boots uk outlet over a couple of times until he was ten or fifteen feet out into the living room. I wanted his support, so I couldnt laugh. But he did. He said hed once been young, thin, and fast, the starting guard on the Coal Hill High School basketball team, which he had led to the state championship over Little Rock Central High in the 1930s; hed gained all his weight in the years when he was the county bootlegger, and never lost it. After a while, he said hed be for me, maybe just so he could go back to bed. |

we got closer to the election
Next, I drove out into the country to see Bill Fowler, who had a farm in Boxley. Bill had served as the Arkansas representative in the Agricultural Soil and Conservation Service in the Johnson administration. As we stood on a hillside with a spectacular view UGG boots outlet of the mountains, he said he would support me, but he didnt think Hammerschmidt would have enough of Nixons crap on him to stink by election day. He then offered this assessment of the President: I hate to say this about a Republican, but Nixon could have been a wonderful President. Hes brilliant and hes got a sackful of guts. But hes just sorry, and he cant help it. I thought about what he said all the way back to Fayetteville.
During the early weeks of the campaign, besides the retail politics I tried to work through the mechanics. As Ive UGG boots outlet mentioned, Uncle Raymond and Gabe Crawford co-signed a note for $10,000 to get me started, and I began to raise money, at first mostly in the Fayetteville area, then across the district and eventually throughout the state. Several of my friends from Georgetown, Oxford, and Yale and the McGovern and Duffey campaigns sent small checks. My largest contributor was my friend Anne Bartley, Governor Winthrop Rockefellers stepdaughter, who later ran the Arkansas office in Washington, D.C., when I was governor. Eventually thousands of people gave, often one-, five-, or ten-dollar bills as we passed the bucket UGG boots outlet store at rallies.
On February 25, I formally announced my candidacy with my family and a few friends at the Avanelle Motel, where Mother went for coffee most mornings before work.
Uncle Raymond gave me a little house in a good location for the Hot Springs headquarters. Mother, my Park Avenue neighbor Rose Crane, and Bobby UGG boots outlet online Hargraves, a young lawyer whose sister I had worked with in Washington, set up a first-class operation. Rose later moved to Little Rock and joined my administration when I became governor, but Mother kept building the organization and put it to work in future campaigns. The main headquarters was in Fayetteville, where my banker friend George Shelton agreed to be campaign chairman and F. H. Martin, a young lawyer I played basketball with, signed on as treasurer. I rented an old house on College Avenue, which was UGG boots outlet clearance kept open mostly by college students, and often on weekends by my cousin Roys fifteen-year-old daughter, Marie Clinton, alone. We painted big CLINTON FOR CONGRESS signs and put them on both sides of the house. Theyre still there, having been painted over many times as new enterprises moved in. Today theres one word over the old signs: TATTOO. Eventually, my childhood friend Patty Howe opened a headquarters in Fort Smith, and others cropped up around the district as we got closer to the election. |

I was off to a good start
By the time I went to Little Rock to file on March 22, I had three opponents: State Senator Gene Rainwater, a crew-cut conservative Democrat from Greenwood, just south of Fort Smith; David Stewart, a handsome young lawyer from Danville in Yell County; and Jim Scanlon, the tall, gregarious mayor of Greenland, a few miles south of Fayetteville. I ladies UGGS on sale was most worried about Stewart because he was attractive, articulate, and UGG boots outlet clearance from the Clintons home county, which I had hoped would go for me.
The first big political event of the campaign was on April 6: the River Valley Rally in Russellville, a college town in the east end of the district. It was an obligatory event, and all the candidates for federal, state, and local office were there, including Senator Fulbright and Governor Bumpers. Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia was the featured speaker. He gave UGG Boots Clearance an old-time fire-and-brimstone speech and entertained the crowd by playing the fiddle. Then the candidates speeches started, with the congressional candidates scheduled to speak last. By the time everyone else had taken three to five minutes, it was past ten oclock. I knew the crowd would be tired and bored by the time we got up, but I took a gamble and chose to speak last. I figured it was UGG Boots Clearance for women my only chance to make an impression.
I had worked hard on the speech and had hammered it down to two minutes. It was a passionate call for a stronger Congress that would represent ordinary people against the concentration of power in the Republican administration and its allied economic interests. Though I had written the speech out, I gave it from memory and poured my heart into it. Somehow it struck a UGG boots outlet online responsive chord with the audience, who, though tired after a long evening, found the energy to rise to their feet and cheer. As the crowd walked out, my volunteers gave them copies of the speech. I was off to a good start. |

in their seventies and eighties
When the event was over, Governor Bumpers came up to Ugg boots clearance me. After complimenting me on the speech, he said he knew I had worked for Senator Fulbright and thought he shouldnt be trying to unseat him. Then he stunned me by saying, In twelve years or so, you may be facing the same decision regarding running against me. If you think its the right thing to do, go on and run, and remember I told you to do it. Dale Bumpers was one smart cookie. He could have made a handsome living as a psychologist.
The next seven weeks were a blur of rallies, sale barns, pie suppers, money-raising, and retail politics. I got a UGGS on sale womens big financial and organizational boost when the AFL-CIO, at its meeting in Hot Springs, endorsed me. The Arkansas Education Association also endorsed me because of my support for UGG Boots Clearance uk federal aid to education.
I spent a lot of time in the counties where I was less well known and that were less well organized than the Ozark Mountain counties: Benton County in the extreme northwest, the counties bordering both sides of the Arkansas River, and the southwest counties in the womens UGGS on sale cheap Ouachita Mountains. In Yell County my campaign was run by my cousin Mike Cornwell, the local funeral-home operator. Since he had buried all the kinfolk there, he knew everyone, and he had an upbeat personality that kept him going in the uphill battle against his neighbor in Danville, David Stewart. There were an amazing number of people who took active roles in the campaign: idealistic young professional and business people, gifted local labor leaders, county and city officials, and die-hard Democrats, from high school students to seniors in their seventies and eighties.
By primary election day, we had womens tall UGGS on sale outorganized and outworked the opposition. I got 44 percent of the vote, with Senator Rainwater barely edging out David Stewart for a spot in the runoff, 26 to 25 percent. Mayor Scanlon, who had no money but waged a game fight, got the rest. |
