NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP GAME - THE KEYS: I cant wait for the game tonight and what should be an outstanding finish to what has been an entertaining NCAA Tournament to say the least. cheap jerseys . You can catch all of the action live tonight at 8:30pm et/5:30pm pt on TSN with the pre-game show before the 9:10pm et/6:10pm pt tip-off. Here are 3 Keys for each team. Enjoy! UCONN KEYS: 1. DOMINATE THE GUARD PLAY: Shabazz Napier and Ryan Boatright have been terrific so far in the tournament. Their ability to take you out of your comfort level with their tenacious defense and their ability to create and make their own shots is big. They are more experienced and, in my opinion, as talented, if not more talented, than the Harrison twins - they must dominate this match-up and frustrate the young guards. 2. REBOUNDING: Kentucky is +9 per game in the Tournament on the boards. That is a huge disparity and a big part of Kentuckys game is the second or third shot per offensive trip. UConn must neutralize this or theyll be in trouble. This is not one of UConns strengths. but theyve got to find a way to win the 50/50 battles and be physical. With the Wildcats, UConn is giving up lots of size inside. 3. DeANDRE DANIELS: After averaging 20 points and nine boards in his last three games, Daniels has to continue to be that versatilebig man for the Huskies inside and use his shot-making ability while facing the basket. Hes a tough cover and his ability to make the three-ball and lure you away from the hoop can take the Kentucky big out of their comfort zone a bit. They did a wonderful job stopping Wisconsins big man, Frank Kaminsky, with lots of attention. Danielshas to pick his spots, yet has to assert his game early and establish the fact that hes a guy getting lots of touches and attract the double team to open things up for teammates. KENTUCKY KEYS: 1. LATE SHOT CLOCK & GAME CLOCK SITUATIONS: The Wildcats have really impressed me with their discipline and poise in the tight situations. Decision-making with the ball and the types of plays and shots theyve been getting have been much improved over the early part of the season. Theyve been excellent at being organized and fundamentally sound on defence with a great attention to detail as the game progresses. They must continue to be sound on both sides of the ball. 2. TURNOVER MARGIN: Take care of the rock. Thats what it comes down to. Kentucky has been really steady in this regard and helped prevent run outs against their defence. They are a very good half-court defensive team that has the quickness, athleticism, size and length to frustrate opponents. You get folks into that type of game and then grind them. UConns guards want to run and create chances in open space. The fewer turnovers, the more the style of play favours you. 3. MARCUS LEE / JULIUS RANDLE / JAMES YOUNG: Energy, offensive rebounds, blocks, deflections, post scoring effort plays and paint domination are major areas that these, among many of the Kentucky young front court players, can get the upper hand over the Huskies. Beat them to the punch and be the better front court. wholesale nfl jerseys . HOUSTON -- Gary Kubiak pulled the Texans out of the NFL basement and remains the only coach to take them to the playoffs. Taijuan Walker Jersey . That wasnt enough to save his job, not with the Texans mired in an 11-game skid that has dropped them back to the bottom of the league. Houston fired Kubiak on Friday, one day after the Texans lost 27-20 at Jacksonville and continued their stunning fall for a team that expected to make a Super Bowl run. Houston (2-11) was flagged 14 times for a franchise-record 177 yards. The 52-year-old Kubiak was hired in 2006 and led the team to AFC South titles in 2011-2012, the highlights of his eight-year tenure as coach of his hometown NFL team. The Texans said they couldnt wait any longer to start turning things around, not with the losses and undisciplined play piling up. "Whats taken place with this organization is unacceptable," general manager Rick Smith said. "Weve got three weeks of an evaluation process left and weve got to right the ship." Kubiak thanked the team for giving him his first head coaching job in the NFL. "Though we came up short this season, the work, effort and sacrifice they gave me and this organization over the last eight seasons is not to be taken for granted," he said in a statement provided by the Texans. "We had a great run here and we will never forget our back-to-back AFC South championships. Coming back home was a dream come true for all of us. This will always be our home." Kubiaks overall record is 61-64, with a 2-2 mark in the playoffs. Owner Bob McNair said the decision to let him go was a hard one. "It was difficult for me because I think so much of Gary," McNair said. "Weve been evaluating it every game and asking the question, Whats in the best interest of the organization? Were at the point now where we need to go ahead and make some changes because losing like this is unacceptable." He added: "Were here to have a winning culture and this year has not contributed to that." The Texans said defensive co-ordinator Wade Phillips would serve as interim coach for the rest of what has been a miserable season. McNair said NFL and head coaching experience were important factors in filling the job, and that the 66-year-old Phillips will be considered. Kubiak suffered a mini-stroke Nov. 3 in a frightening scene, collapsing at halftime during a game against the Colts and being rushed to a Houston hospital. He suffered a transient ischemic attack, which occurs when blood flow to the brain is briefly interrupted, typically by a blood clot or narrowed blood vessels. Experts say they are often a warning sign for a future stroke, particularly within three months of a TIA. Kubiak returned to coach, but the Texans have been unable to rebound from injuries to top players including quarterback MattSchaub, running back ArianFoster and linebacker BrianCushing, who was lost for the second straight season. McNair pointed to messy play and the handling of second-year quarterback CaseKeenum as reasons for the move before the end of the season. "I think the last straw was losing," McNair said. "Weve got a lot better talent than Jacksonville and to lose to them twice, to their credit they played harder, played smarter and to have them beat us on that is not acceptable. If a teams going to beat us because theyre better than we are, or have better ability thats fine, but we expect to go out and play hard and play smart, and we didnt play smart." Kubiak, a former NFL quarterback who calls the teams plays, has long been known as a top offensive coach, mentoring quarterbacks in Denver under MikeShanahan and then Schaub and Keenum in Houston. He was hired in 2006, along with Smith, after the Texans finished a franchise-worst 2-14. Smith spent 10 years with Kubiak while the coach was offensive co-ordinator of the Broncos. Smith was Denvers defensive assistant for four seasons before moving into the front office for his last six years with the Broncos. The pair helped transform the Texans, which began play in 2002, from league laughingstock to contender. The team went 6-10 in their first year and 8-8 in each of the next two seasons. Expectations were high in 2010 after Houston finished at 9-7 for its first winning record in 2009. The Texans instead fell to 6-10, which led to many fans calling for Kubiaks firing. His original contract was due to expire after the 2010 season, but McNair defended him several times amid the bumps. Last year, the Texans announced contract extensions for both Smith and Kubiak, rewarding them for taking the team to the playoffs last year for the first time. Kubiaks three-year agreement has him under contract through 2014. McNair said at the time he offered Kubiak a four-year deal, but the coach preferred to make it for three. Kubiak made his mark as Denvers offensive co-ordinator under Shanahan, winning two Super Bowls. An eighth-round pick out of Texas A&M, he spent nine years as John Elways backup. He finished his career 4-1 as a starter, all in emergency relief of Elway. "You always hate to see guys fired," Broncos coach John Fox said. "It happens, its tough. But you never like to see that. Hes a good friend and a heck of a coach, a guy I have a lot of respect for and its unfortunate." The Texans also fired special teams co-ordinator Joe Marciano and replaced him with assistant Bob Ligashesky, who is in his 10th NFL season and first full year with Houston. Other recent departures from the Texans include assistant head coach Alex Gibbs (for Seattle) and offensive co-ordinator Kyle Shanahan went to join his father in Washington. Keenum, Phillips and the rest of the Texans will get three weeks to show what they have to McNair and company. With Kubiak out, it is clear that the evaluation process could have stiff consequences as the team tries to rebuild. "We have a young quarterback in CaseKeenum and we need to find out if hes capable of being a starter or capable of being the backup," McNair said. "The way you find out about that is by playing him." Robinson Cano Jersey . David Griffin was promoted from interim GM on Monday by owner Dan Gilbert. He says Irving was not consulted on Browns future and any insinuation that he pushed to have him fired is "patently false. Ken Griffey Authentic Jersey .J. -- The New York Giants are not only back in the playoff hunt with a four-game winning streak, theyre calling the plays that get them those wins.WASHINGTON - Forward DrewGooden signed a contract to play for the Washington Wizards for the rest of this season. The deal, which comes after the 32-year-old Gooden had two consecutive 10-day contracts with Washingtton, was announced by the team Monday. Seattle Mariners Jerseys. In his first eight games with the Wizards, Gooden averaged 8.1 points and 4.6 rebounds in 14.6 minutes. The 6-foot-10 forward is in his 12th NBA season. wholesale jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

FRISCO, Texas -- Fabian Castillo scored in the 62nd minute and FC Dallas snapped an eight-game winless streak with a 3-2 win over the Colorado Rapids on Saturday night. Carlos Lee Astros Jersey . Dallas (6-7-3) had failed to score more than one goal in a game during its skid. "Today, the result bounced our way. I thought we deserved it," FC Dallas coach Oscar Pareja said. "We were smarter. We knew that we were going to have some chances on the counter." Castillo took possession of the ball near midfield and dribbled around Rapids defender Drew Moor before curling a left-footed volley from 15 yards and into the right corner of the net. "Its a play we try a lot during the game, sometimes it goes in. Luckily it worked for me and it was a nice goal," Castillo said through a translator. Colorados Jose Mari tied it 2-all in the 52nd minute when he angled a header into the left corner of the net from inside of 6 yards. Dillon Powers set up the goal with a corner kick from the left side. Zach Loyd scored in the second minute of first-half stoppage time to give Dallas a 2-1 lead. It was Loyds first goal since July 4, 2012 -- a span of 51 games. "Its been a long time," Loyd said. "I was following Fabian into the box, he was getting a lot of 1-on-1 matches. I was just trying to get (the ball) on frame and it went into the back of the net." Loyds shot from 19 yards grazed the right leg of Colorado defender Chris Klute, causing Rapids goalkeeper Clint Irwin to misplay the shot and the ball bounced off Irwins right hand and into the left corner of the net. Dallas Andres Escobar tied the game 1-1 in the 33rd minute after Benitezs free kick bounced off of Escobars back and into the left corner of the net. Saturdays game was the first career start for Escobar, who did not realize he was credited with the goal until after the game. "The first two goals were a bit strange," Rapids coach Pablo Mastroeni said. "Its frustrating, thats why you dont get caught up in results or at least I dont. You have to look at the big picture and where we were four, five months ago and where we are today. You cant get too caught up in the excitement of wins and too much into the sorrow of losses." Deshorn Brown chipped a shot from the top of the penalty box over the head of Dallas defender Walker Zimmerman to give the Rapids (6-5-4) a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute. Mari started the scoring sequence when he sent a cross to Drew Moor. He headed the ball and Brown redirected the shot into the net for his third goal in the past three games. "We lost momentum," Brown said. "That last goal has us a little confused." Dallas outshot Colorado 12-10. Dallas goalkeeper Raul Fernandez finished with two saves and picked up his first win of the year in his sixth start of the season. J.R. Richard Jersey . PAUL, Minn. J.R. Richard Astros Jersey . The delighted Vancouver Whitecaps coach was "lost for words" after his club scored three goals in the first 20 minutes en route to a 3-2 win over the San Jose Earthquakes. TORONTO -- The details of JamesvanRiemsdyks vague injury got a little bit clearer, thanks to Maple Leafs coach Randy Carlyle. Van Riemsdyk is dealing with back spasms that are likely to cause the forward to miss his second straight game Thursday when the Carolina Hurricanes visit Air Canada Centre in Toronto. Hes considered day-to-day but theres no specific recovery time. "He did skate (Wednesday), and we felt that was an improvement," Carlyle said. "But hes kind of plateaued or flattened out here, and were not going to put him on the ice in a situation where we think were going to possibly have him have any setback." Carlyle had previously said he was "surprised" that the injury occurred and called it upper-body. He said van Riemsdyk did not suffer the injury in a game. "He got up the other morning, got to the rink, he had back spasms," Carlyle said. "Thats why it wasnt a hockey-related injury. We all know that skaters get skaters back. Its one of the things that hockey players have to deal with over the course of the season." Van Riemsdyk has five goals and an assist in his first six games of the season. He took Monday off as a so-called maintenance day and did not play Tuesday against the Minnesota Wild. The 24-year-old left Wednesdays practice early because he was "pretty stiff," according to Carlyle. Carlyle does not believe van Riemsdyk haas a history of this kind of problem. Jose Altuve Astros Jersey. "I just think this is one-off for him, specifically," he said. "Because he has back spasms one day, is that a history? I dont know that. I dont think we can predict that yet. Its not something thats been noted in his medical file. But I would guarantee you there isnt a player in there that hasnt come to the rink with a bad back." Dealing with players being out of the lineup is nothing new for the Leafs. Theyre already without wingers NikolaiKulemin (bone chip in right ankle) and DavidClarkson (10-game suspension), enforcer FrazerMcLaren (broken right pinky finger) and defenceman MarkFraser (knee). That has meant calling up players like JoshLeivo, TrevorSmith and DavidBroll from the AHLs Marlies and plugging them into the lineup. Van Riemsdyks injury earlier this week just opened up another spot. "With us, weve been constantly having to make adjustments to our roster based upon the availability," Carlyle said. "Weve been dealt a few of those situations that we call adversity, but thats to be expected early in the season and every team in the league has their fair share of injuries. "For us, we have some young kids now that are stepping into the lineup who are getting an opportunity to show us what they have, and theyre trying to earn the trust of the coaching staff." wholesale jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

WASHINGTON -- A team fighting for first place late in the season is routed by a lottery-bound team led by a player on a 10-day contract. cheap jerseys from china . And, just for good measure, lets say the lottery team finishes the game short-handed because two starters come down with the very same injury. That sounds almost as preposterous as the Washington Wizards losing to the Kentucky Wildcats. While the world will never know for sure whether the Wizards could handle the Final Four school, they certainly had no problem making the Philadelphia 76ers look a bit amateurish Friday night. Washington took a double-digit lead early in the second quarter and never let up in a 97-76 victory. "For whatever reason, we werent ready," Philadelphia coach Doug Collins said. "You get down and you think youre going to turn on some switch or whatever, and those guys knocked us around. They deserved to beat us like they did tonight. It wasnt even a game." The loss, combined with Bostons 100-79 win over Minnesota, knocked Philadelphia out of the top spot in the Atlantic Division and all the way down to seventh place in the Eastern Conference. The 76ers had been in first in their division -- either alone or tied -- since Dec. 28, but theyve now lost six of nine and are struggling to score. Philadelphia had only 36 points -- including just two fast-break points -- at halftime against Washington and were simply outhustled throughout. The Wizards outrebounded the 76ers 52-38 for the game. "It was little stuff like them getting to the 50-50 balls, making shots and making us pay," said EvanTurner, who scored 11 points and was the only starter in double figures. "They played well; we couldnt stop the bleeding." The Wizards had lost five straight, and former Maryland coach Gary Williams was thinking aloud on the radio this week when he came up with a scenario under which Washington could perhaps lose a one-off game at Rupp Arena. The story grew legs, even though Wildcats coach John Calipari tried to stop the debate in its tracks by saying: "This team could not beat one NBA team. Not one. The worst team in the league we could not beat." Washington point guard JohnWall, himself a one-and-done product of Kentucky, was in a good position to express a similar opinion after Fridays win. "Oh, man, thats a joke," Wall said. "The Wildcats are a great team -- I hope they win the national championship -- but you cant believe what everybody says." Still, the Wizards were far from conventional against a team that had beaten them badly three times already this year. Their top scorer was CartierMartin, who tied a career high with 20 points in his second game under a 10-day contract. TrevorBooker left in the first period with a pulled ligament in his left foot, and Nene scored 16 points before leaving in the fourth quarter -- also with a pulled ligament in his left foot. Both will be reevaluated Saturday. "Its all about pain threshold," coach Randy Wittman said when asked whether either would play Sunday against Toronto. Martin played 52 games for the Wizards last season, then played 30 games with a team in China during the lockout before joining the Iowa Energy of the NBAs D-League. He rejoined the Wizards on Wednesday and found that many familiar faces were no longer around, including coach Flip Saunders and traded regulars JaValeMcGee and NickYoung. Yet Martin was a scoring machine Friday, making four of seven 3-pointers. "They go over a few things with me before I go onto the floor and let me know what I need to be doing," Martin said. "So I have an idea, but at the end of the day, its basketball." The Wizards had blown double-digit leads in their last three home loses, but they have been playing better defence lately. This was the eighth straight game in which the opponent failed to crack 100 points -- the franchises longest such streak since 2003. "Maybe this is a game we need to have that ice broken," Wittman said. "That was spectacular by our guys tonight." JordanCrawford scored 17 points for the Wizards. KevinSeraphin added 14 points, and Wall had nine points, six rebounds and six assists. Lou Williams and ThaddeusYoung scored 14 points apiece for the 76ers. AndreIguodala, returning after missing two games with tendinitis in his left knee, had just seven points in 34 minutes. The Wizards led by eight after the first period, by 19 at halftime and by 17 after three. A 76ers run seemed inevitable given what had transpired recently at the Verizon Center, but Philadelphia never got closer than 13 in the second half. When the 76ers scored four straight to make the score 81-68 early in the fourth, Martin responded with a 3-pointer. "We talked about it at halftime," Crawford said. "(Coach) said, Step on their throats, and thats what we wanted to do." Notes: The 76ers say C SpencerHawes has had his restrictions lifted following his return from an Achilles injury. Hawes had been limited in his playing time in recent games, and he played only 17 minutes Friday night. ... Collins doesnt hide the fact that hes scoreboard-watching this time of year: "We all like to say, Lets just take care of our business, but its like looking in our neighbours window." cheap jerseys . -- RyanMallett played solidly in his first chance at quarterback for the New England Patriots. cheap nfl jerseys . The United States-born Fiva, who was eliminated in the first round at the Sochi Olympics, won the final ahead of Tomas Kraus of the Czech Republic, Didrik Bastian Juell of Norway and Christopher Del Bosco of Montreal. Duncan, from London, Ont., won the small final and is clinging to a tight lead in the standings as he aims to become the first Canadian to win a mens skicross Crystal Globe. DETROIT -- The Toronto Blue Jays can win an occasional pitching duel, too -- or at least hold their own until BrettLawrie and the rest of their sluggers finally break through. In a game that was scoreless until the ninth inning, Lawries three-run homer highlighted a big burst for the Blue Jays, who then held on for a 5-3 win over the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday night. DrewHutchison pitched seven scoreless innings for Toronto, which now has the second-best record in the American League but still faces questions about the sturdiness of its starting rotation. "He looks like a veteran out there," Lawrie said. "Hes throwing the ball very well for us. Hes keeping us in ballgames." The Blue Jays have a team ERA of 4.07, and aside from MarkBuehrle, their pitching has been shaky. But Hutchison was sharp against Detroit, allowing three hits without a walk and striking out seven. If Toronto can pitch like that, Lawrie, JoseBautista, EdwinEncarnacion and the rest of the lineup should be able to provide enough offence. "I didnt really get going and get into a good rhythm until probably about the fourth or the fifth," Hutchison said. "Obviously, I believe Im a good pitcher, and Im capable of doing that every night, and thats what I expect out of myself." AnibalSanchez matched Hutchison with seven scoreless innings, but both bullpens came unglued in the ninth. The Blue Jays broke loose against JoeNathan (2-2) to win this matchup of the AL East and AL Central leaders. In his first season with the Tigers, Nathans ERA is now an unsightly 6.86 after he was charged with four runs Tuesday. "Im at a loss for words. I thought I threw pretty well," Nathan said. "Ive got to be better. A lot of bad luck out there, too. But the biggest thing is another loss for the team." The 39-year-old right-hander walked AnthonyGose to start the ninth -- Torontos first baserunner ssince the fourth inning. wholesale jerseys. Gose stole second and went to third on a single by JoseReyes. After a popup by MelkyCabrera gave the Tigers hope of escaping the jam, Bautista put the Blue Jays ahead with an RBI single up the middle. Bautistas grounder slipped between shortstop AndrewRomine and second baseman IanKinsler. Romine appeared to shy away at the last second, as if Kinslers presence distracted him, but it wasnt clear if the ball was hit hard enough for an inning-ending double play anyway. "Im not sure if Romine thought Ian was going to get to the ball or Ian thought Romine would get the ball," Detroit manager BradAusmus said. "I thought it was going to be a double play ball at the time, but it was more in the middle than I could tell from my angle." Nathan nearly picked Reyes off third, but the safe call was upheld after a replay review. After Encarnacion walked to load the bases, pinch-hitter KevinPillar hit a sacrifice fly off IanKrol for the games second run. Lawrie then went deep off AlAlburquerque for his ninth homer of the year. J.D.Martinez hit a three-run homer with two outs in the ninth for the Tigers. CaseyJanssen came on and struck out DonKelly for his ninth save in 10 chances. DustinMcGowan (3-2) worked the eighth for the win. The Tigers avoided a second straight shutout, but Detroit has lost three straight. Sanchez allowed two hits with five strikeouts and no walks. NOTES: Detroits AustinJackson was given an error on a flyball by Texas MitchMoreland from a May 24 game after an official scoring change. The play was originally ruled a double. ... Home plate umpire Tony Randazzo was hit near the throat in the fifth when Hutchison bounced a pitch. Randazzo was shaken up but able to continue. ... VANCOUVER -- AndersLindback seems to have the Vancouver Canucks number. Brian Wilson Jersey . The young Swede netminder came off the bench Thursday night and played well at Rogers Arena for the second time this season to backstop the Nashville Predators to a 6-5 victory. "I think we realized we had to start playing better for our goaltender," defenceman SheaWeber said after Lindback relieved PekkaRinne at 10:29 of the second period. He made several key saves to allow the Predators to come back and eventually beat the Canucks on MikeFishers late goal with 1:16 left in regulation. The Canucks had taken a 5-3 lead on 18 shots, but Lindback shut the door with 19 saves. When he replaced Rinne in Vancouver in a 5-1 Oct. 20 loss, he allowed only one goal on 24 shots. In the third period he gave Nashville a chance to win with a pad save on CodyHodgson, then denied KeithBallard on his doorstep and foiled DanHamhuiss spin move. "I think the guys did a really good job of letting me handle the first pucks and took away the rebounds" said Lindback who didnt mind another baptism by fire. "Its always nice to get a few (shots) right away. Its a confidence boost, (you) get warm and feel the pucks. I felt good out there." Weber, whose Predators capitalized on all three of their chances on a power play, said they relied too much on their goaltenders while being outshot 37-20. "I think even after (Lindback) came in we were still too loose defensively, but he made some big saves and we had some timely goals," Weber said. Fishers second goal of the night was the most timely. He took MartinErats pass and backhanded the puck over a sprawling RobertoLuongo with time running out. "They were taking it to us late and we just got one chance and buried it," Fisher said of the only goal of the final period. "In the third period anything can happen and we just found a way." So did Lindback. "Hes a young guy and hes been solid for us," Fisher said. "You dont see a lot of him because of how good Pekka is but when we need him, hes there." It was not a netminders night as the Predators, who lost 1-0 in Calgary on Tuesday, got away from their stifling defensive style. They scored three times on five shots at Canuck backup CorySchneider, who was making his seventh straight start and riding a five-game win streak with a goals-against average of 0.79. Schneider didnt get charged with the loss as Luongo gave up a two-goal lead. Both Rinne and Luongo were Vezina trophy nominees last season. "We deserved a better fate," said Luongo who started the second period. "It was unfortunate they got that late goal on a pretty good play. "I didnt get much action, obviously, and they scored a couple of nice goals." DavidLegwand, Weber and Fisher staked Nashville to a 3-1 first-period lead while JordinTootoo and ColinWilson tied the game 5-5 with goals 1:21 apart. Nashville has scored eight power-play goals in its last seven games. Hodgson, DanielSedin, AaronVolpatti, with his first goal in 36 games, AlexBurrows and Jannick Hansen scored for the Canucks, who had two power-play goals. It was an out-of-character game for both clubs. Last season they combined for only 14 goals in four games against each other. The Predators, who had scored only five goals in their previous four games, improved to 12-9-4 with their second win in three games. Vancouver dropped to 14-10-1. Nashville coach Barry Trotz wasnt happy with his club getting into a scorefest with Vancouver. "The positive is Anders was really good and that when things got turned about in the second (period) we were able to find a way to stay with it," Trotz said. Canuck coach Alain Vigneault said the game was fun for the fans but didnt follow his game plan. "It was an entertaining game without a doubt, not the way we had drawn it up," Vigneault said. "I liked everything about our game except for our penalty-killing and obviously both our goaltenders would probably like to have a couple of those back." Notes:@ Members of the Grey Cup champion B.C. HOUSTON -- A 25-year-old fan died after tumbling about 60 feet from a fifth-floor escalator at Reliant Stadium during a preseason Houston Texans game, officials said Friday. cheap nfl jerseys . Jonathon Kelly of Houston fell to the ground floor during the Thursday night game against the Minnesota Vikings, and frantic witnesses called police to report where his body had landed, police spokesman John Cannon said. The fall appeared to be an accident, according to police, who didnt immediately release the victims name pending notification of his family. But the Harris County medical examiners office released Kellys name and hometown Friday evening. Kelly was travelling down from the fifth floor when he fell to the ground, said Mark Miller, the general manager of SMG-Reliant Park. Two medical teams working at the stadium treated the man at the scene before he was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he died, he said. Staffers monitor fan safety at each escalator landing, Miller said. "We make sure theyre not overloaded and we try to operate them in the safest possible manner," Miller said. The bank of escalators in the northeast corner of the stadium where the fall occurred was closed for inspections, and Reliant Park officials are reassessing safety procedures, he said. But Texans president Jamey Rootes indicated that security and safety changes were unlikely because of the fatal fall. "We have our procedures in place, the league has a whole comprehensive set of best practices relative to fan behaviour and stadium security," Rootes said. "Weve always been rated at the very highest level ... I dont know that anything changes." The Texans open the regular season on Sept. 9 with a home game against the Miami Dolphins. The fall wasnt the only fatal incident at a Texas sport venue in recent years. In 2011, a firefighter attending a Texas Rangers game in Arlington died when he fell from the left field stands while reaching for a baseball tossed his way by All-Star outfielder Josh Hamilton. Shannon Stone fell about 20 feet onto concrete when he tumbled over the left-field railing after catching the ball and falling into an area out of sight from the field as the Rangers faced Oakland. Cooper Stone, his 9-year-old son, witnessed the fall during the second inning. In April, a statue of Stone and his son was dedicated to Rangers fans in front of the home plate gate at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. Railings also were raised throughout the ballpark before this season. wholesale nfl jerseys . MELBOURNE, Australia - Torontos Daniel Nestor and Belarus partner Max Mirnyi reached the quarter-finals of the Australian Open by holding off Italians Daniele Bracciale and Potito Starace 7-6 (7), 6-2 on Sunday. Carlos Lee Jersey . The 39-year-old Nestor has taken his usual place as the last Canadian in contention at a major after rising star Milos Raonic went out to Lleyton Hewitt in the third round of singles. He and Mirnyi will next play the Mexican-German pair of Santiago Gonzalez and Christopher Kas. Nestor and Mirnyi had to fight to hold onto a quick lead in the opening set and needed more than 90 minutes to finally achieve victory against the team whose only title came on clay in Bucharest last autumn. "They were definitely tough, all the teams we have played so far have been tough," said Nestor. "They stepped up their game when we were leading in the first set and put pressure on us. "Sometimes teams like that will then go away but they didnt; they and hung in there. It was the same in the second set when we were up a break. Nestor and his partner have won four titles in 2011, including the London year-end finals and the Brisbane champions earlier this month. "Max and I are pretty pleased with how weve been playing," added Nestor. "We ve carried last years momentum into the new year. Our goal is to win the Australian Open, were trying to win the title here." Nestor and Mirnyi led 5-2 before the Italian pair mounted a comeback, saving a pair of set points in the ninth game as Nestor was broken and two more in the 12th. With the set going into a tiebreaker, the drama continued. Nestors team got away to a 4-1 lead only to see the challengers push back, with Bracciale and Starace saving another pair of set points before Mirnyi finally produced a service winner on opportunity No. 6 to claim the opener after a hard-fought 57 minutes. The second set was slightly less demanding as Nestor and Mirnyi started with a break and got another for 5-2 before serving out the win a game later. Astros Jersey . The Desert Foxes took part in the 2010 World Cup and failed to advance past the group stage, and the African side figures to have a tough time reaching the last 16 this time around as well. Belgiums last appearance on the big stage was the 2002 tournament when the team reached the second round before bowing out to eventual champions Brazil. Andy Pettitte Jersey . And former Maple Leafs coach Ron Wilson certainly knows his pain. "Its pretty hard to coach there without allowing some of these things to kind of affect you," Wilson told TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun in his ESPN.With lots of trade speculation surrounding the Canadiens and AndreiMarkov going into next Wednesdays trade deadline, the veteran defencemans new agent maintains that contract talks between both sides are ongoing and that Markov wants to stay in Montreal. "I cant say much, we agreed not to say much, but talks are ongoing and Andrei wants to stay in Montreal," agent and former NHL player SergeiBerezin told TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun on ESPN.com on Friday. "Well see where it goes. Hes played 13 seasons with Montreal. He wants to finish his career in Montreal." Earlier this week, TSN Radio 690s Tony Marinaro reported that the Canadiens offered Markov - an unresticted free agent in July - a one-year $6 million contract while TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie added that the team might be flexibble on a one or two-year deal. Jose Cruz Jr. Jersey. Markov, in the final season of the three-year, $17.25 million deal he signed in 2011, recently hired Berezin after parting ways with agent Don Meehan of Newport Sports. Berezin has temporary certification from the NHL Players Association as an agent while the union reviews his application as to whether he can become a full-time agent. "Weve been long friends for 15 years if not longer, we grew up in the same city in Russia," Berezin said. "Hes like family to me, I train him in the summer." Markov has five goals and 33 points in 61 games with the Canadiens this season is a plus-9. In 745 career NHL games, Markov has 96 goals and 432 points. Hes spent his entire NHL career in Montreal after being drafted 162nd overall by the Canadiens in 1998. wholesale jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

ARLINGTON, Va. Nolan Ryan Authentic Jersey . -- Even if AlexOvechkin and the Washington Capitals have earned a reputation for quick exits, at least theyve been making the playoffs year after year. Thats not a given this time. And the team is well aware of it: Every time players set foot in the practice facility, they come face to face with a display showing where Washington stands. On Thursday, the Capitals had 70 points, good enough only for 11th place in the 16-team Eastern Conference. The top eight teams qualify for the post-season. "Weve got a board in our dressing room here that says the standings. You walk by it six, seven times a day," right wing TroyBrouwer said. "So theres no way to be immune to whats going on." Washington hasnt missed the playoffs since the 2006-07 season, although its never been past the second round in that span. At the moment, the fading Capitals have won only one of their last six games heading into Friday night against the visiting Vancouver Canucks, who are 10th in the West. "The desperate level," Brouwer said, "is getting up there." Washington has 15 games left in the regular season. Its not a particularly easy schedule, either, with 10 games against teams currently in playoff position, including a daunting March 18-22 road trip to Anaheim, Los Angeles and San Jose. "Obviously, were very concerned," coach AdamOates said. "But the one good thing about hockey is tomorrows another game and you cant get too far ahead or dwell too much on it, because youve got to play tomorrow. Its a must win tomorrow." There have been various problems lately, including poor passing and puck possession, leading to turnovers and a lack of shots on goal. Also glaring: Ovechkins sudden lack of scoring. The three-time NHL MVP and team captain leads the league with 44 goals, but he has been held without a point in each of the last four games, matching his worst drought this season. So whats it going to take to get things turned in the right direction before its too late? "It can be one big hit," said Ovechkin, whos been known to dole those out. "Or it can be one good play and everybody (wakes) up and everybody (plays) much better." In a bid to help the playoff push, general manager George McPhee added goalie JaroslavHalak and left wing DustinPenner in separate deals at the trade deadline this month, then finally signed 2010 first-round draft pick EvgenyKuznetsov. But there hasnt been a payoff yet. Penner was thought to be destined for the top forward line, alongside Ovechkin and centre NicklasBackstrom. But Oates said Thursday, "I dont think he matches well with them." Asked to elaborate, Oates replied: "Hes not the fastest guy in the world. Hes a puck-possession, battle-along-the-wall guy, and I think (Ovechkin and Backstrom) need a quicker guy." Halak, meanwhile, has made three consecutive starts over BradenHoltby. Oates wouldnt say who would be in net Friday. Holtby said all the right things Thursday, though -- about Halak "giving us a chance to win, whenever he plays"; about how "I want to learn from" Halak; about how theres no rivalry between the pair. Holtby also gave a frank assessment about what Washington needs to do now. "Everyone knows," Holtby said, "that we have to have at least 10 wins, probably, in these last 15 -- or more -- to have a chance." Notes: D DmitryOrlov signed a $4 million, two-year contract extension. "Good for him," Ovechkin said, "and good for us." Orlov was suspended by the NHL for two games this month after launching into an opponent and drawing a major penalty that helped the Flyers rally for a 5-4 overtime victory. ... C BrooksLaich, who missed two of the last four games with a groin injury, saw a doctor and will be monitored day by day, according to Oates. Its possible Laich will play Friday. ... C MikhailGrabovski skated before Thursdays practice as he deals with a left ankle injury. "Until he can practice with us, I think hes a ways away," Oates said. Albert Pujols Angels Jersey . -- TyrekeEvans is still making the adjustment from point guard to small forward for the Sacramento Kings. David Freese Authentic Jersey . Wright sat out games on Tuesday and Wednesday after learning he broke his finger diving back to a base Monday night. He was examined by a hand specialist for the second straight day Thursday. WASHINGTON -- ClaytonKershaw admitted he was nervous about making his first start in six weeks. Apparently its nothing new. He just hides it well. Kershaw pitched seven shutout innings in his first outing since opening day, and HanleyRamirez and DrewButera homered to help the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Washington Nationals 8-3 Tuesday night. "Im always nervous, every time I start," Kershaw said. "You want to do well. Same type of nerves tonight, but after the first inning I was able to settle in OK." Kershaw (2-0) was stubborn in his return after missing 32 games, allowing nine hits, but striking out nine without a walk, and pitching out of several jams while the game was still close. The two-time NL Cy Young winner had been on the disabled list for the first time in his career, sidelined by a strained back muscle after winning March 22 in the major league opener in Australia. "He shows you right away what youve been missing," said manager Don Mattingly, whose Dodgers began the day third place in the N.L. West. "Just a guy that brings that to the table every five days. Its a little reminder of who he is and what he means to you." The Dodgers collected 14 hits despite keeping outfielder YasielPuig out for the second straight game since he crashed into an outfield wall in the ninth inning Sunday at Miami. Coming off a pair of minor league rehabilitation starts, Kershaw threw 89 pitches. "I missed pitching in the big leagues," he said. "Its a special thing we get to do and I try not to take it for granted, so six weeks felt like a long time." AnthonyRendon and JaysonWerth singled to start the fourth against Kershaw, but AdamLaRoche popped out and Kershaw struck out ScottHairston and IanDesmond. In the sixth, Rendon led off with a single, but Kershaw picked him off. Werth and LaRoche followed with singles before Kershaw again fanned Hairston and Desmond. "He was nasty," Washingtons JoseLobaton said. "He was right in the zone. He was throwing strikes, aggressive, big curveball." Werth had four hits and BlakeTreinen (0-1), making his first major league start, allowed three unearned runs in five-pplus innings. Custom Angels Jersey. The 25-year-old Treinen was called up from Triple-A Syracuse to make the start and matched Kershaw for five innings. He allowed seven hits and no walks, while striking out two. He was part of his own undoing, however, when the Dodgers loaded the bases in the sixth inning on three balls that didnt leave the infield. Kershaws hustle started the rally. Treinen misplayed his leadoff grounder and Kershaw hustled down the line and just beat the throw. "With Kersh you get a guy thats going to just be kind of all in every day, in every aspect, from running to hitting to fielding, the whole package," Mattingly said DeeGordons grounder to first base was bobbled by LaRoche, though the play was ruled a hit. CarlCrawford followed with a dribbler up the first base line for a single and, with the bases loaded, Ramirez singled to right, scoring Kershaw and ending Treinens night. After reliever CraigStammen fanned MattKemp, AndreEthier grounded into a fielders choice that scored Gordon, then JuanUribes broken-bat single made it 3-0. The Dodgers added a run in the seventh, and four in the eighth when Ramirez homered leading off and Butera capped the inning with a three-run shot for an 8-0 lead. ChrisPerez relieved for the Dodgers to begin the eighth and gave up three runs. NOTES: Puig said before the game he was ready to return. Mattingly said Puig might be used as a pinch hitter or defensive replacement. ... Los Angeles 1B AdrianGonzalez (0 for his last 15) was given the night off. ... Nationals OF NateMcLouth had a bandaged right hand following his diving catch in foul territory during Monday nights game. The cut didnt require stitches and McLouth said he was available to play. ... Washington C WilsonRamos (hand) took regular batting practice Tuesday and pronounced himself "ready to go." He could rejoin the team as early as Wednesday. ... Nationals manager Matt Williams said the latest X-rays on 3B RyanZimmerman (right thumb) "were great, and hes on path to begin his rehab as soon as possible." ... Former Nationals pitcher DanHaren (4-0, 2.39) opposes StephenStrasburg (2-2, 3.60) in Wednesdays series finale. wholesale jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

BERLIN -- Stuttgart striker Vedad Ibisevic missed a penalty with the last kick of the game as the home side drew 1-1 with Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga on Sunday. Billy Butler Authentic Jersey . Ibisevic skewed his shot to the right of Kevin Trapps goal, missing the chance to make it three wins from three since new coach Thomas Schneider took over. "Its a shame for the club because we deserved the win. But It can happen. Im sorry," Ibisevic said. The penalty was conceded by Sebastian Rode for a foul on Ibrahim Traore in the fourth minute of injury time. "You cant blame Vedo," Schneider said. "He took the risk and sometimes you have to accept that it goes to the side." With Stuttgart playing in retro jerseys to celebrate the clubs 120-year anniversary, it was the visitors who scored first when Marco Russ stabbed the ball to the roof of the net after a corner in the 14th minute. Then 17-year-old Timo Werner equalized with a header after a Stuttgart corner one minute later. "It doesnt get any better," Werner said. Vaclav Kadlec and Stefan Aigner came close in an exciting second half for Frankfurt, before Stuttgarts Alexandru Maxim had a goal ruled out for offside. Ibisevic also missed a chance in the 83rd when he eluded four defenders before firing over, though will rue the later missed chance more. "Of course its unlucky how it happened," said Stuttgart captain Christian Gentner. "But perhaps its fairer based on (the sides) performances." Freiburg is still waiting for its first Bundesliga win of the season after a 1-1 draw at home with Hertha Berlin. "We dont have the quality to win these games at the moment. It doesnt matter, we can live with it," said Freiburg coach Christian Streich, whose side has been weakened by off-season departures. Admir Mehmedi put Freiburg ahead in the 6th minute, when Sebastian Freis played him through to round the keeper and slot to the unguarded net. It got worse for Hertha in the 20th, when United States defender John Anthony Brooks went off injured with a suspected dislocated elbow. But the visitors regrouped and Per Ciljan Skjelbred deservedly equalized in the 38th when he slid in ahead of his marker to deflect Ronnys throw-in inside the far post. Both sides cancelled each other out in a scrappy second half before Gelson Fernandes struck the post for Freiburg in the final minute, when he only had the goalkeeper to beat. "Were lucky to get away with the point," Hertha coach Jos Luhukay said. Freiburg goalkeeper Oliver Baumann was left to rue the missed chances. "We really deserved the win here today. We fought intensely, gave it everything," Baumann said "Its a pity but were on the right path." On Saturday, Bayern Munich took advantage of Borussia Dortmunds 1-1 draw at Nuremberg by routing Schalke 4-0 to move level with Dortmund atop the standings after six games. Greg Holland Authentic Jersey .5 forward somersault dive may have fallen a little short on Sunday, but the two-time Olympic silver medallist says he feels encouraged by his performance at the Montreal Canada Cup. George Brett Royals Jersey . Not to be outdone, Atletico Madrid bettered its title rivals by demolishing 10-man Getafe 7-0 with Diego Costa returning from injury to score with a brilliant bicycle kick. "It was an almost perfect night," Atletico coach Diego Simeone said.ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Rays have placed outfielder DavidDeJesus on the 15-day disabled list with a broken left hand. The Rays also activated outfielder BrandonGuyer, who had been sidelined by a broken left thumb, from the 15-day DL in moves made before Thursday nights game against Houston. DeJesus was hurt on a check-swing in Wednesdays game against Baltimore. One day earlier, hhe ran hard into the left-field wall chasing a grand slam hit by Orioles slugger ChrisDavis. Yordano Ventura Royals Jersey. DeJesus says "you can go run full steam into a wall and not be hurt, and then something I do every day you take for granted sometimes (you get hurt)." DeJesus expects to be in a cast for three weeks. He will undergo additional tests to determine how long he will be out. wholesale jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

BASEL, Switzerland -- Switzerland and Basel goalkeeper Yann Sommer will join Borussia Moenchengladbach at the end of the season. cheap jerseys from china. Basel says the 25-year-old player has agreed a five-year contract with the Bundesliga club. The transfer fee was not disclosed. Moenchengladbachs current keeper, Marc-Andre ter Stegen has been linked with a move to Barcelona. Sommer says in a statement published by Basel that "its very difficult for me to leave Basel, but Ive always dreamed of playing in a major league." Sommer has helped league leader Basel win the Swiss title for the past two seasons. He will leave after the World Cup, where he is expected to back up Swiss first-choice keeper Diego Benaglio. Sommer follows national teammate Granit Xhaka, who was transferred in 2012, in moving from Basel to Moenchengladbach. cheap jerseys .C. -- Tony Stewart has driven a sprint car again, roughly 10 months after the accident that sidelined the three-time NASCAR champion with a broken leg. cheap nfl jerseys . - Eries top line of Dane Fox, Connor Brown and Connor McDavid combined for six goals and 14 points as the Otters crushed the visiting Windsor Spitfires 9-0 on Sunday in Ontario Hockey League play.DUNEDIN, Florida- General manager Alex Anthopoulos believes the 2014 edition of the Blue Jays will contend in the American League East. It begins with starting pitching. "We have the talent," said Anthopoulos. "Last offseason because guys were hurt, we didnt have the bodies. We didnt have Hutchison or Drabek. We knew we needed Romero to bounce back. Happ was coming off a foot injury. We have a lot more bodies and a lot more depth. Beyond our front five last year we were thin. We had Romero who scuffled as our sixth starter coming out of camp. Beyond that, it was RamonOrtiz and Chien Ming-Wang and we had to sign five minor league free agent starters. We didnt need to do any of that this offseason." One of the catchphrases of the offseason, and now here in Dunedin, is "internal depth," a reference to the clubs young cadre of pitching prospects beginning to bump their heads on the minor league ceiling. Its needed, too, because Anthopoulos seemed to pour the final dose of cold water on upgrading his rotation via an external option, most notably ErvinSantana, the last marquee free agent pitcher on the market. "Wed like to do it but were not going to do it at all costs," said Anthopoulos. "As we sit here today, I think its unlikely at this point, were getting so late into spring training. Anthopoulos continued, "Its a comparison, how much better are they than what you have." We have to make that evaluation. Term and dollars are important. You like every player but at certain years and dollars they dont make sense for us. If its just a draft or something and youre just picking a player, then abilities are a separate thing but theres obviously an acquisition cost to all of these guys." As for the persistent chatter linking the Jays to Santana and other free agent starters like UbaldoJimenez (signed with Baltimore) and MattGarza (signed with Milwaukee,) Anthopoulos suggested the reports were overblown. "To trades? Yes. We got very close on some trades. Free agency-wise, I dont think we ever got close at all." Fans, understandably, dont want to hear excuses for the misery of 2013. It was clear as early as April the club had flaws, not the least of which were starting pitching that didnt match they hype and poor infield defense. Still, health, or lack thereof, played a role. When J.A.Happ was hit in the head with a line drive by Tampa Bays DesmondJennings on May 7, he joined JoshJohnson on the disabled list. R.A.Dickey already was pitching with an injured muscle in his neck and BrandonMorrow was dealing with forearm pain, which ultimately was diagnosed as an entrapped radial nerve that would end his season weeks later. Only MarkBuehrle was healthy. BrettLawrie went down with a strained oblique suffered in a World Baseball Classic tune up game in early March and missed opening day. JoseReyes was lost to a severe ankle sprain on April 12, which necessitated the expedited return of a rehabbing Lawrie. He wasnt ready and would end up getting hurt again. Reyes was back by the time Lawrie returned on July 13, but Lawrie played at second base that day and the two wouldnt play the left side of the infield together until July 19. JoseBautista, MelkyCabrera and ColbyRassmus also missed significant time but their injuries occurred once the Jays were out of the race. wholesale jerseys. Anthopoulos had no intention from diverting from the course set out with the major trades of last offseason. He wants the players hes assembled from years past, most of whom remain here, to get the job done. "We werent going to take away from the core of this team," said Anthopoulos. "We made a change behind the plate; that was important to us. Second base, we think theres obviously going to be turnover there. A third of our lineup is probably going to be different from opening day last year." DEALING WITH INJURIES Theres nothing the Blue Jays could do about JoseReyes and BrettLawrie injuring their ankles sliding into second base. Nothing could have been done to prevent BrandonMorrows nerve injury. Anthopoulos puts a lot of the aches and pains that befell last years club in the "freak injury" category. The club is concerned about the number of oblique injuries its suffered, however. "Colby (Rasmus) missed about four to six weeks and Rajai (Davis) missed two to three weeks," said Anthopoulos. "There are some things that we tweaked there. Like I talked about at the end of last year, it seems obliques are popping up a lot more or at least theyre being diagnosed a lot more. It felt like for us, the last two years, we were getting a lot more obliques so we reevaluated some of the strength and conditioning work that we were doing and made some tweaks there." BrettLawries missed time with an oblique strain in each of the last two seasons. He added yoga to his offseason workout regimen in an effort to loosen his core muscles. BrandonMorrow missed almost three months of the 2012 season with an oblique strain. FILLING OUT THE ROTATION EsmilRogers and ToddRedmond appear to be the early favourites to land the final starters job. Both are out of options, meaning they could be lost to waivers if the Jays tried to send them to the minor leagues. They face stiff competition from emerging youngsters like DrewHutchison, MarcusStroman and KyleDrabek, and could find themselves in the bullpen if they dont win a starting job out of spring training. "We started before with an eight-man bullpen," said Anthopoulos. "We could do that as well. If everyone is throwing the ball that well and we dont want to expose anyone to waivers, or we dont want to trade someone and not get full value, we could go to an eight-man bullpen." HIGH PRAISE FOR GOINS RyanGoins will have to earn the starting job at second base this spring but his boss loves his defense. "Hes as good defensively, I believe, as weve had here since OrlandoHudson was here," said Anthopoulos. "I think hes that good a defender. Defensively, hes gold glove caliber. The question will be the bat. Obviously weve got some competition for him and if he does make this team we view him right now as the nine-hole hitter. I think with Ryan, because the defense is so good, it allows him to not have to hit as much because he can help us on the other side of the ball to such a great extent." MaicerIzturis, BrentMorel, ChrisGetz and JonathanDiaz also are vying for the second base job. wholesale jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

TAMPA, Fla. Nike Air Max 90 Prezzo . -- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed free-agent safety MajorWright and wide receiver LavelleHawkins. The team also announced Monday that linebacker MarvinBooker has been waived. Wright spent the first four seasons of his career with the Chicago Bears, who drafted him in the third round in 2010. Hes started 42 of 54 career games and returned three of his nine interceptions for touchdowns. Hawkins was a fourth-round draft pick of the Tennessee Titans in 2008. He spent five seasons with them before moving to the San Diego Chargers in 2013. He has 71 career receptions for 771 yards and one TD. New Balance 574 Donna . Even the longest of tenures with the Twins, though, dont last forever. Versatile veteran MichaelCuddyer, voted by local beat writers as the teams most valuable player in 2011, is gone. He will be with the Colorado Rockies next season. Adidas Zx Flux Italia Independent . Another is a bunch of groundballs. Finally, theres a game that lasts two hours six minutes. Pavano kept up his recent surge with an efficient six-hitter for the Twins in a 4-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday night.LONDON -- Roger Federer had never lost his opening match at the ATP World Tour Finals since the elite tournament moved to London in 2009. Until now, that is. On the back of a chaotic and disappointing season, the former World No. 1 was beaten on Tuesday for the second time in less than a week by defending champion Novak Djokovic 6-4, 6-7 (2), 6-2. The Serb extended his winning streak to 18 matches after capturing his sixth title of the season last week in Paris, where he defeated Federer in the semifinal. Djokovic kept alive his chances of overtaking Rafael Nadal in the race for the year-end No. 1 spot. "It was a big challenge physically," Djokovic said. "Only 48 hours ago I was playing in Paris, so to be able to play this well and beat Roger is incredible. "I have to enjoy the win and then think about the recovery because its a big win. The good thing is, there is a day off. Im going to try and recharge my batteries mentally and physically and get ready for (Juan Martin) Del Potro." Djokovic is attempting to finish No. 1 for the third year in a row but Nadal, who eased past David Ferrer 6-3, 6-2, needs only a win against Stanislas Wawrinka on Wednesday to be guaranteed the top spot. This 31st encounter between Federer and Djokovic -- a remake of last years final -- produced a somewhat disjointed match laced with unforced errors and flashes of brilliant tennis leaving both players looking exhausted toward the end of the match. "Again, I was able to recover from all those matches and actually felt physically somewhat fine," said Federer, who won his last Grand Slam title at Wimbledon in 2012 and has only two victories against top-10 opponents in 2013. "So I regret not having taken my chances better maybe." Federer, the oldest man in the draw at 32, refused to draw early conclusions from a season in which he had back problems and dropped to seventh in the rankings. "The season is not done yet," he said. "Lets talk about this stuff in hopefully four matches." Federer and Djokovic neutralized themselves until the ninth game when the Serb was down 15-30. A double fault gave Federer his first break point, but he sent a forehand wide on the next point. Djokovic then took the next two points to hold his serve. The Serb earned two break points in the next game with a superb backhand return. The cheering from the legion of Swiss supporters packed in the stands didnt help Federer as he fluffed a forehand to lose the set. After rallying from 0-40 to break Djokovic for a 3-2 lead in the second set, Federer dropped his serve in the next game. Nike Air Max 90 Saldi. He double-faulted after Djokovic earned a break point with a backhand that hit the net cord before going over. Serving for the set at 5-4, Federer made another unforced error on his usually reliable forehand to squander a set point. Djokovic seized his chance, sending Federer in the ropes with a stretched crosscourt winner before levelling at 5-5. Federer smashed a ball toward the scoreboard hanging over the court in frustration. Federer kicked back into life in the tiebreak, winning the last five points with a string of beautiful shots that included a backhand volley, a crosscourt winner, and a perfect lob that Djokovic failed to return. Djokovic looked unfazed at the start of the third set to break Federer at love. He then saved a break point to consolidate his lead before taking Federers serve again after a long rally for a 4-1 lead. He sealed the match on his first chance. Despite his easy win, playing indoors will never be ideal for Nadal. The Spaniard has won all four Grand Slam tournaments and the Olympic title in his career but has never triumphed at the season-ending ATP World Tour Finals. "I like the sunshine," Nadal said when asked about the difference between playing indoors and outdoors. "The feeling on the ball, on your racket, is different" when playing indoors, Nadal said. "All of these small things that make you feel a little bit strange." The conditions didnt seem to bother him Tuesday as he beat fellow Spaniard Ferrer 6-3, 6-2 on the indoor court at Londons O2 arena. "Im happy. The court is in perfect condition here," Nadal said. "Its a good start for me, positive one." Nadal came close to winning the event in 2010 when he lost in the final to Federer. He didnt play last year because of a knee injury that kept him away for seven months before his successful comeback in February. The 13-time Grand Slam champion traded early breaks with Ferrer and then began dictating play from the baseline, forcing Ferrer into errors. Nadal converted six of seven break points, and Ferrer had 33 unforced errors. "He arrived a little bit tired after playing the final (in Paris)," Nadal said. "I played with a little more calm than the other day (against him)." Nadal earned his 21st win in 26 matches against Ferrer, but only his first indoors. Nadal and Ferrer play in Group A, along with Stanislas Wawrinka, who beat Tomas Berdych in his opening match on Monday. Djokovic and Federer are in Group B with Juan Martin del Potro and Richard Gasquet. wholesale jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

FORTALEZA, Brazil -- Not long after celebrating another all-important win at the World Cup, Brazil was jolted by the loss of Neymar. David Robertson Yankees Jersey . The tournaments poster boy with the dyed-blonde fauxhawk fractured a vertebra in his back during Brazils 2-1 quarterfinal victory over Colombia on Friday. The injury has ruled the striker out of the rest of the competition, dealing a massive blow to the teams chances of finally winning a World Cup at home. Brazil advanced to the semifinals for the first time in 12 years, with the goals coming from defenders Thiago Silva and David Luiz. But the jubilation was quickly tempered when Brazil team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar said Neymar broke his third vertebrae and is expected to be out for several weeks, ruling him out of Tuesdays semifinal match against Germany in Belo Horizonte. "Its a situation that leaves us in a difficult position for the match against Germany," Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari said. "But we have great players and if I have to change something I will do it and we will be OK." The 22-year-old Neymar has been the focal point of both the Brazilian team and the entire World Cup, and he lived up to expectations with four goals in the first three matches. But he took a knee to the back late in the match against Colombia at the Arena Castelao in a collision with Juan Camilo Zuniga. The Brazilian star was crying in pain as he was carried off the field, and was taken to a private clinic. He has since been released. "He will not be in condition to play, he will need a few weeks to be fit again," said Lasmar, the team doctor. "He is very, very sad." The foul on Neymar came toward the end of one of the dirtiest games of the tournament as Brazil committed 31 fouls and Colombia had 23. Brazil will also be without Silva for Tuesdays match against Germany. The captain must sit out after getting his second yellow card of the tournament after impeding Colombia goalkeeper David Ospina. Brazil, which is trying to become the first host to win the World Cup since France in 1998, had been eliminated in the quarterfinals at the last two tournaments. The "Selecao" lost to the Netherlands in the quarterfinals in 2010 and to France in 2006 after winning its fifth title in 2002. Back in 1950, Brazil needed only a draw in the final match to win the World Cup, but the team lost to Uruguay in a match known as the "Maracanazo." This time around, Brazil won its group and then beat Chile on penalties in the second round. On Friday against Colombia, Silva gave Brazil the lead in the seventh minute, scoring with his left knee after a corner from Neymar passed through the Colombian defence. He celebrated the goal by pointing to the emblem on his jersey and shouting, "This is Brazil, this is Brazil." Luiz added the second from a free kick in the 69th, side-footing a long-range shot into the top of the net. Colombia got one back in the 80th. James Rodriguez scored his tournament-leading sixth goal from the penalty spot after Brazil goalkeeper Julio Cesar brought down substitute Carlos Bacca inside the area. Rodriguez tried to control the pace of the match, but it was Brazil that created most of the scoring chances as Ospina had to make a series of saves in the first half alone. The Colombians tried to pressure after Rodriguezs late penalty, but Brazil held on with solid defending. Colombia, playing at the World Cup for the first time since 1998 and in the quarterfinals for the first time ever, had entered the match after scoring 11 goals, second only to the Netherlands. "After not playing in the World Cup for so long, we were able to show the value of the Colombian football and the talent of some of our players," said Colombia coach Jose Pekerman, an Argentine. "They showed great spirit and presence of mind. They came to play a great World Cup, not just to participate." There was a lot of talk about Rodriguez and Neymar before the match, but the 22-year-old forwards didnt really deliver in Fortaleza. Rodriguez scored the late penalty but was otherwise mostly ineffective, as was Neymar before he left on a stretcher. Zoilo Almonte Shirts . -- Michael Phelps has competed in the second event of his comeback and failed to advance to the 50-meter freestyle final. Carlos Beltran Shirts. "Our level of work has to go up," said Carlyle on Thursday. "Weve stated that and weve (told) our players that the message is going to start to be delivered in a different manner if were not going to get the results that were looking for.TEMPE, Ariz. -- Los Angeles Angels outfielder JoshHamilton will be sidelined for at least two weeks because of a strained calf muscle, and pitcher C.J.Wilson does not appear to be seriously hurt after getting struck on the head by a line drive in batting practice. Both players were injured during a spring training workout Tuesday. Hamilton struggled in his first season with the Angels after agreeing to a $125 million, five-year contract, hitting .250 with 21 homers and 79 RBIs. The 2010 AL MVP reported to spring training 20 pounds heavier than last year after losing about 25 pounds following the 2012 season. Hamilton left the clubhouse on crutches Tuesday after getting hurt during a baserunning drill. "Its something that will definitely heal on its own and its just going to take some time and the timeframe were getting is the minimum of a couple of weeks," Angels manager Mike SScioscia said Wednesday. Derek Jeter Shirts. "As of right now were very optimistic that hell get back in here and he can get back in shape for the start of the season." Wilson, also starting his second season with the Angels. was hit by a liner off the bat of YorvitTorrealba. "Everything is fine, except that pitch I threw. Shoulda caught it," Wilson tweeted. "Lesson is to not pitch to contact!" Wilson was bleeding slightly after being hit with the line drive and was taken in for a CT scan. He blamed himself for the mishap. "I should have caught the ball," Wilson said, "If I ever get hit, its my fault." Wilson added that he did not get his usual amount of sleep the night before as he was getting "amped up" for Tuesdays batting-practice session. Wilson, 17-7 with a 3.39 ERA last year, could make his exhibition debut Saturday. wholesale jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

GENEVA -- FIFA launched an investigation Thursday into the "unusual outcome" of Bahrains 10-0 victory over a weakened Indonesia team in a World Cup qualifying match. #10 Nike Elite Chase Daniel Mens Jersey Chiefs Road White . Bahrains win on Wednesday has raised suspicion because it needed to make up a nine-goal deficit on Qatar in the group standings to have a chance of advancing to the next round. Bahrain also needed Qatar to lose its last match, but the Qataris scored an 83rd-minute equalizer in a 2-2 draw at Iran to instead reach the next stage of the Asian qualifying tournament. "FIFA security will conduct a routine examination of this game and its result," footballs world governing body said in a statement. FIFA insisted an initial probe was justified "given the unusual outcome against results expectation and head-to-head history, and in the interests of maintaining unequivocal confidence in our game." "The important thing is that if there are suspicions you have to investigate it," FIFA Vice-President Prince Ali said during a trip to London. "It might just be a coincidence, however there might be something behind it." Warning about the threat posed by match-fixers, the Asian Football Confederation executive said that "many times you see those involved are a step ahead." "Match fixing is a huge issue that needs to be tackled," Prince Ali said. "We will have to see what the investigation comes out with. But it has to be taken very seriously regardless of what region it is played in. It is a world issue, not just simply in the Asian region ... (and) we need to put as much resources we can into this aspect of football." On Wednesday, Indonesia goalkeeper Samsidar was sent off after just two minutes, and Bahrain took the lead from the resulting penalty. The hosts also scored a second penalty in the first half as they took a 4-0 lead by halftime, and continued to pour in goals after the break. Indonesia had lost all five previous group matches, conceding 16 goals while scoring just three. It also fielded several inexperienced international players in Bahrain after suspending others who play for clubs in the breakaway Indonesian Super League. The Indonesian football association (PSSI) recognizes the Indonesian Premier League, and the dispute jeopardized the participation of ISL winner Persipura Jayapura in the Asian Champions League last month. Persipura required a Court of Arbitration for Sport ruling in order to face Adelaide United. The PSSI has been in turmoil in recent years, and launched an unsuccessful bid to host the 2022 World Cup. FIFA removed Indonesia from the contest midway through the bid process when football officials failed to persuade the government to provide hosting guarantees. He has also played in Singapore, Denmark, Australia and Cyprus. "We are very excited to get this deal finalized and bring Issey on as an official member of Toronto FC," general manager Tim Bezbatchenko said in a release. His most recent cap came on Nov. 19, 2013 in a friendly against Slovenia. CHARLESTON, W. Masahiro Tanaka Shirts .Va. - New York Jets quarterback GenoSmith is eager to work with MichaelVick, even if it means a hotly contested competition for the starting job. "Awesome, man. Vicks my guy," Smith said during a fan signing event Saturday in West Virginia. "We needed to find a guy that was legitimately a guy that could come in and play. I think thats what we did. "Mission accomplished." Vick signed a one-year deal with the Jets on Friday, the same day New York released former starter MarkSanchez. The Jets hope Vick, who spent the last five seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, will be able to push Smith during training camp. Vick is "going to be a guy I can work with, have a really good working relationship with and also compete with," Smith said at the Charleston Civic Center. Smith was unfazed by Vicks comments Friday night on a conference call with New York-area reporters that he wouldnt necessarily be content standing on the sideline all season. "Thats every quarterback," Smith said. "I understand where Mikes coming from. No one wants to sit the bench. I dont know a player that does." Smith threw for 12 touchdowns and 21 interceptions in his rookie season while starting all 16 games after Sanchez injured his right shoulder in the preseason. He drew praise from coach Rex Ryan for a strong finish in which the Jets won three of their last four to finish 8-8, but Smith expects to have "an open competition" with Vick for the starting job just like it will be for every position on the team. "Its just good to have a guy to compete with like Mike," Smith said. "Were going to compete. Were not going to say, Hey, youre the starter. And well leave it at that. We want to get better. "I love it. Its really making everyone work harder and keep you right on your toes because you dont have a moment to be satisfied or just say Ive arrived. Youve got to continue to work at it." Smith respects the opinion of Vick, who first reached out to him during Smiths senior season at West Virginia in 2012. Smith, a second-round pick, recalled that the NFL draft process and how to handle expectations were among the topics they discussed. "Some of the things I asked him was, How did you deal with being THE guy?" Smith said. "I was in that situation last year. As soon as I walked into the locker room, I was expected to produce. And as we all know in the league, its hard to do that. If youre not on a team thats already set up to win, youre going to have your struggles. "It was more about me just having an understanding of the position that Im in and just continuing to grow."Kevin Long Jersey . The World Group first round series will now continue Monday with Spain leading 1-0. Earlier Sunday, Czech Klara Zakopalova led the second singles match against Maria Torro-Flor 6-3, 2-0. Zoilo Almonte Yankees Jersey . The Bobcats (2-2) trailed 35-23 early in the second quarter, but cut the lead to 42-40 at halftime. Charlotte outscored Cleveland 32-17 in the third quarter to go ahead 72-59 and pulled away.BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Buffalo Sabres are moving on without the longtime face of their franchise. And they know the experience will be anything but ordinary. "When a guy like RyanMiller gets traded, thats not a normal player getting traded," interim head coach Ted Nolan said. "He was the face of the organization for a long, long time. To lose a player like him, its tough." Tough, yes, but perhaps good practice for a team that could be offloading several more veterans before Wednesdays trade deadline, as general manager Tim Murray continues efforts to fix the NHLs worst team. Murray traded Miller and captain SteveOtt to St. Louis on Friday. Buffalo acquired goaltender JaroslavHalak, right wing ChrisStewart, prospect WilliamCarrier, a 2015 first-round draft pick and a conditional pick. Its unlikely to end there. ChristianEhrhoff said Friday that he recently complied with the Sabres request to submit a list of eight teams that would make up the no-trade clause of his contract. Soon-to-be unrestricted free agents MattMoulson and HenrikTallinder could also move, and Murray has said contract status doesnt dictate availability. Even Halak or Stewart could be traded. "Theyre pieces that will be Buffalo Sabres when they pass their physicals and after that its the same as everybody else," Murray said. "And what I said, if it makes sense it makes sense. ... If theyre Buffalo Sabres, they play here and were happy with them." The overhaul began under Murrays predecessor, Darcy Regier, who was fired in November. The Sabres traded numerous high-priced veterans last season, including captain JasonPominville. It continued into October, when ThomasVanek was traded to the New York Islanders for Moulson and two high draft picks. The Sabres, as a result, have stockpiled picks. They could have as many as two first-round and three second-round selections in this years draft, with 10 total picks over the first two rounds of the next two drafts. Buffalo also has a solid group of prospeccts in its farm system, including defencemen RasmusRistolainen and NikitaZadorov, who were both drafted in the first round in June. Kelly Johnson Shirts. Murrays objective is to add more draft picks or young prospects, and hes been clear about his intentions to make the team better regardless of cost. "Theres no untouchables," Murray said before the Miller trade. "Its a rebuild." And for the players remaining on the team, its a big opportunity to take a leadership role. In the case of Enroth, its a chance to become a teams No. 1 goaltender for the first time in his career. "If you dont call this a chance, I dont know what a chance is," Enroth said, later adding, "I truly believe I can be a No. 1 guy here." Nolan noticed changes almost immediately after the trade was announced, as Ott and Miller said their goodbyes to teammates. "You could really see it on DrewStaffords face the most," Nolan said Friday. "Him and MattMoulson really took over the leadership tonight with this young group." Stafford is now the longest-tenured Sabre and the only player left from the 2006-07 team that won the Presidents Trophy, though Tallinder left as a free agent before being reacquired this summer. The general managers goals arent lost on the players in the room, and TylerMyers has expressed confidence in the direction of the team in general. "You have to look at what we got, too," Myers said. "I think its good for both sides. Im happy for Ott and Miller." Murray said the timing of the deal was not ideal for his roster, but the 22-year-old MarcusFoligno and other young teammates almost immediately recognized the bittersweet chance to drive the team into the future. "I looked around with (Brian) Flynn and (Zemgus) Girgensons, and we just said we gotta step up," Foligno said. "This is a game where we have to play well and this is something where we lost them and now hopefully were here for the long run and were players that they count on." wholesale jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

ST. Nike Free 3.0 Mens UK . PAUL, Minn On many nights this season, terrific goaltending and special teams lifted the Leafs to victory where it might not have been deserved. That was nearly the case once more at Xcel Energy Center on Wednesday night, but, in this instance, a win slipped away. We got what we deserved, said CarlGunnarsson, bluntly in conversation with the Leaf Report after a 2-1 shootout loss to the Wild. I just mean if you look at the game all over, 65 minutes, we didnt deserve more than one point. In a game that saw NazemKadri ejected, JonathanBernier brilliant once more and both special teams units back on the mark, the Leafs ultimately tripped up in the waning moments, their collective ineffectiveness to that point ultimately bringing about a deserved fate. Were not happy about it, Gunnarsson said of his teams play, but we couldve had two points. We had the chance and we didnt take it. But if you look over the whole game, we didnt deserve more. Stuck with just one even-strength goal in the past four games, the Leafs failed to generate much of an attack for the better part of two periods against the Wild. But with a power-play goal from MasonRaymond in the second, excellence from Bernier and the penalty kill, they actually led late and appeared on course for two points. It was then, with less than five minutes, to go that a PhilKessel defensive zone giveaway landed in the hands of CharlieCoyle. Punishing the error, ZachParisewould eventhe score at one before capping it with the shootout winner a short while later. We have the puck under control in our zone, we cough it up and it ends up in our net, Randy Carlyle saidof the game-tying goal afterward. Moments earlier, the Leafs had killed off a mammoth five-minute Wild power-play Kadri given a match penalty for his hit on MikaelGranlund (more in Five Points) with Minnesota managing just a single shot opposite an aggressive and impactful penalty kill. And so, whilenot playingup to their desired standard, the Leafs had put themselves in position for victory only to fumble it away. Yeah for sure, said Raymond. That stings a bit. It was perhaps due karma. Only a month earlier, the Leafs were outshot 37-14 by the Wild at home, escaping with victory on the shoulders of a 36-save performance from JamesReimer, two power-play goals and a near-perfect effort on the penalty kill. Holding three of his seven career shutouts against the Wild, Bernier was busy and effective as he has been all season. The 25-year-old stopped 33 of 34 shots, beaten only by Parise onan unlikely ricochet attempt in front. Troubling for the Leafswas the amount of time they spent defending rather than initiating the play as was desired the Wild out-attempted them by a 70-43 margin. A focal point of attention for Carlyle in the early weeks this season and especially the past few days, the short stock of Toronto forwards (they dressed only 11, lost Kadriand played without ColtonOrr and CarterAshton in the third) wereunable to consistently pressure the Minnesota defence, rarely generating much offence against JoshHarding, who replaced NiklasBackstrom early in the first. We didnt really have that [offensive] zone time, Gunnarsson said. We didnt cycle the puck a whole lot, [we were] kind of receiving the game. They moved the puck down low on us and played a whole bunch in our end. Heroics from the goaltenders and fine special teams play bailed out those inconsistencies amid a successful start, but not on this night. Five Points 1. Kadris eventful night Charging hard into the Wild crease early in the first, Kadri leveled Backstrom with what appeared to be an elbow and was whistled for the first of three penalties. Soaking up plenty of ice in the opening 40 minutes he led Leaf forwards with upwards of 15 minutes the 23-year-old would get the gate for goodmidway through the third. Kadri delivered a crunching hit to Granlund along the boards in the neutral zone for which he was given a match penalty. He made initial contact with the shoulder and the kid had the head down and he didnt have his arms up and he ran into the player, said Carlyle, clearly not in agreement with the punishment. For his collision with Backstrom, Kadri will garner a hearing with the NHLs department of discipline on Thursday afternoon. At his best on the edge, Kadri may have crossed a line. Naz is a very skilled player, said DionPhaneuf, but he plays with an edge and he plays hard. I think thats a big thing thats unique about him is that he doesnt just have those very soft hands and playmaking ability, but hes a physical guy. Already short TylerBozak and DaveBolland, a suspension to Kadri would furtherdamage the Leafs down the middle. 2. Five-on-five woes continue The Leafs were one of the leagues most potent teams at full strength last season. They scored 105 goals, trailing only the Lightning, Blackhawks and Penguins. So far this season, however, theyve not been nearly as successful. The Leafsboast the 20th-ranked five-on-five offence (29 goals,) failing to score an even-strength goal for the third time in four games against the Wild on Wednesday night. 3. Clarksons drought The goaldrought reached eight games for DavidClarkson. The 29-year-old hasnt scored yet as a Leaf, totaling just one assist thus far. I think thats going to start soon, said Clarkson optimistically before the game. Start burning some incense here in my stall. The Leafs werent counting exclusively on potent offence from their marquee offseason addition, but some level of contribution was to be expected for a player who scored 45 goals over the past two seasons. Clarkson has had opportunities, including a glorious chance against his former team last week. Butrather than trickle across the goal-line, his attempt on CorySchneider wobbled wide right. I think if youre getting chances and youre getting good quality chances, then I think youre doing something right, Clarkson said, noting the ability to contribute elsewhere if pucks werent finding twine. One easy cure would be to shoot the puck more often, something the Toronto native made mention of himself. During his final two seasons in New Jersey, Clarkson averaged 3.19 shots per game, but in his first eight games as a Leaf, hes down to just two per game. A primary power-play contributor with the Devils, Clarkson is additionally beginning to see more time on the man advantage with the Leafs, with the injuries to Bozak and Bolland opening up opportunity. Hes had chances and I think its part of our responsibility to try and support him with some of the power-play situations, maybe move him up and down in the lineup, play with more offensive players, Carlyle said, with Clarkson matched with NazemKadri and JoffreyLupul against the Wild. Theres no better cure for a guy that hasnt scored is to continue to move up the lineup and play with your better players and get power-play time. 4. Kadri at even-strength Kadri has interestingly dipped most in terms of even-strength offence. He accrued 82 per cent of his offence in such situations last season, his 36 points leading the team. But after 18 games this fall, his production there has taken nearly a 20 per cent hit. Kadri has just eight of his 13 points at even-strength (62 per cent) with the power-play a source of increased productivity. 5. JVR Down the middle Wednesday marked the third career game at centre for JamesvanRiemsdyk. One difference in playing down the middle, according to the 24-year-old, is positioning in transition offensively. Its a little different, he said. When youre coming on the rush youre usually in the middle versus being on the wall; youre usually looking to kick it wide and maybe drive or whatever; youre not usually going to pull up in the middle of the ice and just stop there because then youll turn it over. Thats usually why the wingers in general get more shots than centre iceman do," van Riemsdyk said. After mustering just a single shot in the previous two games, van Riemsdykfinished withfour shots against the Wild, but remained pointless at centre ice. A temporary stopgap when Bolland suffered an ankle injury, he may get the move back to wing soon enough. Out since Oct. 25 with a hamstring injury, Bozak skated for the first time on Tuesday and could be in line to return in the next couple weeks. The 27-year-old is eligible to come of long-term injured reserve on Nov. 21. All of that could change, of course, with a Kadri suspension. Stat-Pack 30 Faceoffs for JerredSmithson against the Wild, winning 53 per cent. 23:27 Ice-time for JayMcClement, a season-high. 70-43 Shot attempts favouring the Wild. 29 Total goals for the Leafs at five-on-five. .939 Save percentage for JonathanBernier after 12 games this season. 15 Times this season the Leafs have been outshot by an opponent. Youre talking a seven-year commitment for a very substantial amount of money," said Niskanen, who got married Saturday.NEW ORLEANS -- Chicagos DerrickRose has been listed as a starter Wednesday night against the New Orleans, two days after leaving the Bulls previous game because of back spasms. Rose played about 10 minutes Monday night in New Jersey, and coach Tom Thibodeau declined to say for certain before tipoff whether the NBA MVP would play in New Orleans. Rose is averaging nearly 23 points and eight assists for Chhicago, which has entered its game against the Hornets on a three-game winning streak and with the most victories (21) in the NBA. EAST RUTHERFORD, N. Scarpa Nike Air Max 90 Donna .J. - The weather forecast for the first Super Bowl in an outdoor stadium in a cold-weather city is nothing out of the ordinary. National Weather Service meteorologist Anthony Gigi said Monday the forecast for Sundays NFL title game at MetLife Stadium calls for temperatures to reach a high of 39 with a low of 27, which is average for the area. There is little threat of precipitation. Gigi, who is based in Mount Holly, said a system is expected to pass through the region on Saturday night with the potential for a mixture of snow and rain. Since the Jets and Giants were awarded the Super Bowl in May 2010, there have been fears that a huge snowstorm would affect the game. The league and state officials have contingency plans for that scenario, including moving the game to Friday, Saturday or Monday, or changing the scheduled 6:25 p.m. starting time on Sunday. The coldest kickoff temperature in Super Bowl history was 39 degrees at Tulane Stadium in New Orleans for Super Bowl VI, when Dallas beat Miami 24-3. According to a report from ESPN, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are shopping the veteran CB and plan on releasing him Wednesday if they cant find a trade partner. With CBA talks at a near standstill, a source has told TSN Football Insider Dave Naylor that players from seven of the nine CFL teams have taken votes with 98 per cent of them in favour of a strike. The news comes several hours after CFL commissioner Mark Cohon announced that the league would extend the ratification bonus to Friday if the union is prepared to allow its members to vote on the leagues most recent proposal. On Monday night, the Players Association had a four-year offer rejected by the league. The collective bargaining agreement between the league and the CFL Players Association expired last Thursday at midnight. The players decided to attend training camps on Sunday while negotiations between the two sides continued. "We have made our best offer and continue to believe the CFLPA should allow its members to vote on our offer," said Cohon in a statement. Adidas Zx Flux Prezzo. "The most recent CFLPA proposal, which was presented to us yesterday through the mediator, would not form the basis of a settlement as it was unrealistic. Cohon explained why the leagues offer is fair for the players. "Our offer increases the average player salary by 16 per cent in 2014, to more than $96,000 per player, and significantly reduces the number of padded practices throughout the season," he continued. "Our proposal also includes ratification bonuses of $5,000 for veteran players and $1,500 for rookies. We are confident that our offer is fair to the players and would allow us to continue to build our league while not jeopardizing the positive momentum we have collectively achieved over the last several years." wholesale jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

It took the Leafs 7:19 before they were finally able to register a shot on goal against the Florida Panthers - a harmless drive from the point by CarlGunnarsson. Mike Moustakas Jersey . The shot clock then read 9-1. It was a sign of things to come. By the time the first period had ended, the clock read 19-4. After forty minutes: 37-12, yet remarkably the Maple Leafs still had a chance to win, solely due to JonathanBernier, who, among other examples, denied JonathanHuberdeau and ScottieUpshall on clear cut breakaways. "We didnt really have anything going other than one person in the line up who was outstanding for our hockey club and it was our goaltender," said a baffled Randy Carlyle. "We just didnt seem to have any jump or any passion to play the game and its kind of mind boggling right now." JesseWinchester eventually put the Panthers up 2-0 before DavidClarkson finally got the Leafs on the board, scoring his fourth goal of the season. But four minutes later, ShawnMatthias restored the Panthers two goal lead, putting the game out of reach. "Those are wasted efforts as youd call them," Carlyle explained. "Over the course of the season when you get an effort like that from your goaltender, its a like a pitcher throwing a no hitter. Thats the same analogy that you use when you have a performance like he was supporting our group with tonight." It marked the third straight game against the Panthers this season that the Maple Leafs got out to a poor start. A 3-1 loss on December 17th reflected a similarly uninspired effort. Last week, the Leafs were able to overcome an early 2-0 deficit but there would be no improvement found on this occasion as they went on to fall 4-1 to Florida. "The first ten minutes we were just standing around and they were jumping by us," said Carlyle. "It was like we werent engaged in the hockey game at all." Five Points1) Raymond Calls Loss The Worst Effort of the Season While the Leafs have suffered worse losses this season 6-0 to the Columbus Blue Jackets on November 25th, 7-1 to the New York Rangers on Jan. 4 and 7-1 to the Dallas Stars on January 23rd MasonRaymond suggest he felt tonights effort fell to the lowest hed seen it so far. "No excuse for the way we played, weve had a few tough games this year but I dont think anywhere as this bad," said Raymond. "We were outplayed almost in all aspects of the game." In terms of lessons to be learned, just moving on, Raymond said, might be the best way to go. "Im sure well do a little reflecting on it but I think its one you flush pretty quick and move on," the 28 year old explained. "Those were important points that we let slip away and thats unfortunate." 2) Carlyle Juggles The Lines After two periods of lethargic play, Randy Carlyle opted to shuffle his lines, looking for any kind of a spark with the Leafs still within striking distance. "Just tried to get something going because we had nothing going and just pleading to the group that we have a goaltender thats standing on his head here and its a 1-0 hockey game, tried to give ourselves a chance with a decent period to steal some points," explained the head coach. The move worked, at least temporarily, leading to DavidClarksons goal on a nifty set up from NazemKadri. Start of the Game JamesVanRiemsdyk - TylerBozak- PhilKesselJoffreyLupul - NazemKadri - NikolaiKuleminMasonRaymond - JayMcClement - DavidClarksonTroyBodie - JerredSmithson - ColtonOrr Third Period JoffreyLupul - TylerBozak - PhilKesselJamesVanRiemsdyk - NazemKadri - DavidClarksonMasonRaymond - JayMcClement - NikolaiKuleminTroyBodie - JerredSmithson - ColtonOrr3) Gardiners Fight Marks An NHL First A pair of unlikely combatants, JakeGardiner and JonathanHuberdeau dropped the gloves 6:31 into the second period in a fight that was more of a wrestling match than a typical NHL scrap. "It wasnt much of a fight," said Gardiner. "Stuff happens in the game, you get emotional and sometimes you have to fight." Just how unlikely was it for Gardiner to find himself in a scrap? To the best of his recollection, he could only come up with one other instance where he dropped the gloves. "It was in practice when I was in college (at the University of Wisconsin), it was a while back," Gardiner recalled. 4) Clarkson Hoping To Hit "Reset Button" After missing the first ten games of the season due to a suspension, another two contests in mid-December to a second suspension, a game on January 7th against the Islanders because of a foot injury and most recently, eight games because of an elbow injury, DavidClarkson marked his fourth separate return to the line up on Tuesday against the Panthers. With 25 games left to go, Clarkson is looking to hit the reset button and put all his nagging issues behind him. "Im hoping, Ive had a chance to hit that button a couple times," said Clarkson, who has just four goals and five assists in 37 games. Coach Randy Carlyle insisted patience is the right approach for Clarkson, who seems like he has continually been trying, unsuccessfully so far, to live up to massive expectations this season. "I dont want to put too much emphasis on Clarkson when a player is coming back into your line up after missing an extended period of time," said Carlyle. "Were more suited to let the player get his feet underneath him before we make these great proclamations of what hes going to do and where hes going to be at." While sitting and watching, Clarkson has admitted, is never easy for him, the Leafs solid run, going 6-1-1 in the eight games he missed made it somewhat tolerable. "The fact that weve been winning, it makes it a lot easier sitting there because youre not in the stands or after the game upset," Clarkson explained, who has watched the Leafs amass a record of 14-6-1 without him in the line up compared to 16-16-5 with him dressed. As for what set Clarksons season off on the wrong foot, Carlyle didnt have to think long for an explanation. "I think the ten game suspension obviously had an effect, simple as that," said Carlyle. 5) JVR Plays Despite Battling Flu Bug JamesVanRiemsdyk seems to have it all figured out. The Middletown, New Jersey native has not participated in a full practice since January 24th in Winnipeg he left part way through on January 26th but has not missed a game during that stretch. Last week, JVRs absence was due to an undisclosed injury. On Monday, it was a bout of the flu that forced him to miss the teams workout at MasterCard Centre and subsequent charter flight to Fort Lauderdale. But there was still one Van Riemsdyk on the teams flight on Monday; James father Frans, who accompanied the other dads on the Leafs annual fathers trip. "I made the decision to send him along on the charter so he gets that whole experience and Im sure he had a great time last night," said James. James made his way down to Florida early Tuesday morning on a 6:30am commercial flight and received well wishes from other travellers. "I got a couple tweets in the airport, a couple good lucks," he explained. Asked how his day of recovery from the flu went on Monday, James smiled, laughed and said, "I dont want to get into it." Stats Pack - 9-0: Shot total in favour of Panthers when CarlGunnarsson registered first shot for the Leafs at the 7:19 mark of the 1st period - 19-4: Shots in favour of Panthers after 1st period - 37-12: Shots in favour of Panthers after 2nd period - 44: Stops made by JonathanBernier, his second highest total this season behind only the 48 stops he made on Dec. 5 against Dallas - 16:30: DavidClarksons ice time in his return to the line up after an 8 game absence - 7: Hits Clarkson registered, leading the Leafs in that category - 3: Leafs win streak snapped at three games; Panthers losing streak snapped at three games - 16: Number of times the Leafs have allowed more than 40 shots - 2: The amount of power play goals the Panthers have scored in their last 53 opportunities after TomGilberts goal against the Leafs Quote of the night: - MasonRaymond on whether the team felt added pressure with playing in front of their fathers, who are along on the annual dads trip: "No, again, were professional athletes. Were expected to have mental preparation and be prepared for the game and we werent, we were flat from the start. Thankfully Bernie was playing well at the start or it would have been a lot worse." ier League five
Back in the autumn of 1985, a seven-year-old child stood by a bridge waiting. Joe Girardi Yankees Jersey . There were no large crowds around him and, for early October, the south of England was beautifully warmer than anyone expected. This was a much simpler time. A time when sports stars had to make their way through some of the public areas to get to speak to the awaiting media, but they were able to do so without being mobbed. Each year, the winner of the pole position for the Grand Prix, on the Saturday, was required to make the journey behind the public grandstands on the front straight. In a few years, more and more professional autograph hunters would put a stop to such a simple passage and not much long after the entire complex was seen as being way below par to host a Grand Prix. But on this day, October 5, 1985, Brands Hatch circuit was the centre of the Formula One universe. The next day Alain Prost would become World Champion for the first time but today was all about that gorgeous black Lotus-Renault that popped and demanded your attention thanks to the yellow helmet belonging to a star in the making, 25-year-old driver, Ayrton Senna. Already it was plain to see that the young Brazilian was remarkable on a fast qualifying lap and an hour or so earlier he had taken his sixth pole position of the season. The boy waited to see if he could get a glimpse. And then he appeared, in his civvies, and just like that he was gone. In between he had taken a second to write his autograph in the book held tightly by the young fan. The next day the boy and his father stood on the final turn of Brands Hatch and watched with their very eyes as Senna, leading the race, collided with the Williams car of Keke Rosberg while battling for the lead. The crash, which for an added bonus knocked the easily unlikeable Nelson Piquet out of the race, forced Rosberg into the pits. When he returned he did so right in front of Senna and the charging Englishman Nigel Mansell. It was the kind of plot a moviemaker would think up, yet this was really developing in front of the eyes of stunned seven-year-old. An incensed Rosberg held Senna up, Mansell saw his moment and overtook the Brazilian. The crowd erupted immediately, like a football stadium reacting to a late goal. Mansell would go on to win his first-ever Grand Prix, joined by Senna and Rosberg on the podium. The boy was hooked. These days it will take you less than five seconds on Google to find an article preaching to its readers to not make a sports star your hero. One of the biggest issues surrounding this notion is that it is being told to you by an adult who has grown to know no one is perfect and feels the need to protect people from being let down. Children dont have much of a voice when it comes to adults but they certainly can teach us a thing or two about the innocent beauty of admiring a sports star for what he/she does in their chosen field, regardless of what they are like otherwise. That day, back in 1985, the seven-year-old boy who cried when the race was over, and spent the five-hour car ride home with his mind full of race cars driven by gladiatorial figures, didnt have a platform to write about what those drivers meant to him. Today, he does. I still have that autograph, now proudly placed in a frame beneath a painting of Sennas first win in Portugal, achieved in that gorgeous black Lotus. When I glance at it, I am reminded of that weekend in 1985. As we made the journey north towards home I didnt do it as an Ayrton Senna fan, after all, an Englishman had captured the hearts of thousands, completing a rags-to-riches story by winning his first ever Grand Prix. I was a Nigel Mansell fan. However, the beauty of youth and the sport, meant I could be much more than just that. This was not like football where you were taught to love one and despise all others. Grand Prix racers, with the exception of Mansells nemesis in Piquet, were to be admired and as the years went on, even during epic Senna-Mansell rivalry seasons, I feasted on the epic greatness from both. Id witness Mansell winning the British Grand Prix in 1986 and 1987 and in 1991 I was on the track when he drove by with Senna, hanging on his car as a passenger after retiring late in the race. By then I was old enough to know Senna was better than Mansell and that was what made his victories even sweeter; knowing he had beaten the ultimate standard set by the greatest racing driver I had ever seen. Id watched from my couch, in the middle of the night, Sennas titanic tussles with Prost in Japan when the pair clashed for the 1989 and 1990 World Championships. The drama was incredible and the plots main character, Senna, was an enormous figure in my life. I never missed a race and the sport back then gave me memories to last a lifetime. The way my dad talked about Muhammad Ali-Joe Frazier to me is how I can talk about Senna-Prost to my children. Id eventually hear the Brazilian anthem played for Senna at a Grand Prix in Belgium in 1991, the day Michael Schumacher made his first career start, but nothing came close to what I saw in 1993. This time the weather was far from nice. It was absolutely awful, in fact. We were no longer in the south either. My familys love for the sport had taken us to Donington Park, in Derbyshire, in early April. Remarkably, the crowd was very low, with the nation suffering an F1 hangover from Mansell packing his bags for Indycar. Those lucky enough to get absolutely drenched that day witnessed true greatness. Senna would win 41 Grand Prix races but his best happened that day as his McLaren danced in unison with the rain at the European Grand Prix. It is hard to put into words what he did, just watch his opening lap on Youtube and see for yourself. The rain master obliterated the field that day giving the fans and his rivals a lesson in perfection, every single lap. It was what all sports fans crave. Its one thing to witness a group of sports stars doing something we could never dream of, but it is quite something else to see someone take that standard to another level. To this day when I think of Senna I think of Donington Park for two reasons. I was there the day he won that race and I was there on May 1, 1994 when we lost him for good. That day he was in Italy for the San Marino Grand Prix, where ten years earlier I had been to see a race, the only one in Sennas career he failed to qualify for. A decade on he had different troubles. Troubles with his new Williams car and troubles with the sports safety after witnessing brutal, violent accidents on the Friday and Saturday of that race weekend. Young Rubens Barrichello survived his on Friday, Roland Ratzenberger wasnt so fortunate on Saturday afternoon, becoming the first F1 driver to be killed at a Grand Prix in 12 years. Id heard of his death on Saturday night on the new BBC Radio Five Live station and remember to this day how they teased it with Formula One loses its first driver since 1982, coming up well tell you who. I sat alone terrified, waiting for the answer. I was sixteen now but had been fortunate enough to watch these incredible men drive these amazing machines without ever getting the news that all motorsport fans fear. They were immortals, to me, true heroes inside their helmets guiding rocketships on wheels and leaving you with the most wonderful sound as they blasted by. I was part of the lucky generation. My dad, who had gotten me into the sport, had watched many of his favourites perish in years gone by but, for kids like me, we never faced such heartache. Until that weekend in 1994. That night I did what many teenagers in England did on Sundays - I listened to the Top 40 charts. Each song that came on provided background music to the career of Ayrton Senna da Silva that played out on my mind. I was overwhelmed by many different feelings, sadness being one of the main ones, of course, but, to this day, I remember the strongest emotion of all was pure disbelief. I kept wondering in mind, over and over, what it was going to be like to go to a Grand Prix without him being there. Twenty years on, the answer I got that night remains the same. The truth was it was never, ever the same. I had watched true greatness at a time when I was allowed heroes. After that, nothing could come close. Michael Pineda Shirts . PETERSBURG, Fla. Brian Roberts Yankees Jersey .Y. -- Ralph Wilson fulfilled his vow in keeping the Bills in Buffalo during his lifetime.Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic will leave the club after eight years at the end of the season. Manager David Moyes had previously indicated he wanted Vidic to stay, but the 32-year-old Serbian defender on Friday announced plans to leave when his contract expires. "I have decided that I will move on at the end of this season," Vidic said. "I want to challenge myself again and try to make the best of myself in the coming years. "Im not considering staying in England as the only club I ever wanted to play for here is Manchester United and I was lucky enough to be part of this club for so many years." Inter Milan has already been suggested as a potential destination for the strong and commanding centre back, who can now start to talk to rival clubs. "Ive got a few options to move on and I will choose the right one for me and for my family," Vidic said. The statement, issued by United, contained no comments from Moyes, who is facing a tough task rebuilding a team that is currently seventh in a league it won by 11 points last May before Alex Ferguson retired aftter 26 years in charge. Don Mattingly Jersey. Another centre back, the 35-year-old Rio Ferdinand, might also have no future at the club beyond this season, while 40-year-old midfielder Ryan Giggs is nearing the end of his playing career and is already on the coaching staff. Vidic played a key role in Uniteds title triumphs since making his debut at the start of 2006 after joining from Spartak Moscow for seven million pounds ($11 million). Vidic has won the Premier League five times as well as the Champions League and the Club World Cup. But, after being injured in a Champions League fixture in December 2011, Vidic required major knee surgery and endured extended spells on the sidelines. "Its the last year of my contract and I have had eight wonderful years here," Vidic said. "My time at this great club will always rank as the best years of my career. "I never could have imagined winning 15 trophies and I will certainly never forget that fantastic night in Moscow (in the 2008 Champions League final win over Chelsea), memories that will live with me and the fans forever." wholesale jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

CARLSBAD, Calif. Felix Hernandez Jersey . -- Vancouvers Rebecca Marino was eliminated in the first round of the Mercury Insurance Open on Tuesday after losing to No. 11 Maria Kirilenko of Russia 6-3, 6-2. Kirilenko did not face a break point on her serve as she hit 75 per cent of her first serves. She also took advantage of a back injury Marino suffered in the first set. Kirilenko, who lost to eventual champion Serena Williams in the quarter-finals last week at Stanford, was rarely pushed by her Canadian opponent. "I think I played great today," Kirilenko said. "I did everything that we planned. I was happy with that. I tried to mix my game because she is tall." Both players sought injury treatment at the end of the first set. The Russian saw a trainer for a pain in her left leg, Marino for a lower back injury. "I did a couple of drop shots and I could see that she was running a little bit (slower)," Kirilenko said. Marino, who is ranked No. 41 in the world, is scheduled to make her next appearance at the Rogers Cup in Toronto. No. 3 ranked Vera Zvonareva of Russia converted the only two service breaks of the match, enabling her to beat qualifier Jill Craybas 6-4, 7-5. The top-seeded Zvonareva, playing her opening match, had more trouble than expected against the American. Craybas won two qualifying matches to get into the main draw, then won her first-round match on Monday. The pair were on serve in the first set when Zvonareva had the only service break of the set in the ninth game to take a 5-4 lead. Craybas, ranked No. 125, wasted two break points in the next game before dropping the set with a backhand into the net. Zvonareva broke Craybas serve in the 11th game of the second set to take a 6-5 lead before serving out for the win. No. 2 seed Andrea Petkovic of Germany has her first action in a later match against Alexa Glatch of the United States. Third-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland was extended before winning her opening match with a 6-0, 7-6 (4) win over Great Britains Elena Baltacha. Radwanska, who received a bye into the second round, saved two set points at 5-4 in the second set before Baltacha saved one match point to force the tiebreaker. Three seeded players lost as qualifier Marina Erakovic of New Zealand upset No. 14 seed Elena Vesnina of Russia 6-1, 6-2, Alberta Brianti of Italy was a 1-6, 6-2, 6-2 winner over 10th-seeded Flavia Pennetta of Italy, and No. 13 seed Jarmila Gajdosova of Australia lost to Russias Alla Kudryavtseva 6-3, 6-2. No. 12 seed Sabine Lisicki of Germany beat Italian Greta Arn 6-0, 6-2 and No. 15 seed Sara Errani of Italy defeated Sania Mirza of India 6-2, 6-3. Radwanska, runner-up in the finals here last year to Svetlana Kuznetsova, was in quite a struggle after an easy first set. "I was serving very aggressively really playing my game," Radwanska said. "She was serving much better in the second set and it was hard to break her." Lisicki, who lost to Maria Sharapova in the Wimbledon semifinals, was pleased with her overall game. "I didnt have too much time to adapt because I just came here two days ago," she said. "A little bit different conditions (than last week at Stanford), so I was happy with the way I played."
