SEATTLE -- Lloyd McClendon is bringing an entirely new coaching staff to Seattle, although a number of his additions have ties to the Mariners organization.Adidas ZX 700 Uomo . McClendon announced his coaching staff on Monday, with only two of his hires coming from outside of the club. Instead, McClendon is promoting a number of coaches from the minors and still holding out the possibility that one coach may return from the previous staff under Eric Wedge but in a different role. "Obviously, there is some advantage to having some guys from within the organization," McClendon said. "If you have the opportunity to promote from within, No. 1 its healthy for the organization, and No. 2 if those guys are qualified individuals it becomes an A-plus. ... All those guys fit that bill." Howard Johnson, the former New York Mets third baseman, will take over as Seattles hitting coach after serving in that role for the organization at Triple-A Tacoma last season. Hell replace DaveHansen who was with the club for only one season but may return as Johnsons assistant. Seattle general manager Jack Zduriencik said Hansen has an offer to return as the clubs assistant hitting coach if he does not find another major league job. Rick Waits will move from minor league pitching co-ordinator to Seattles pitching coach, while John Stearns will be the third-base coach and ChrisWoodward will be the infield coach. Stearns finished the 2013 season as Tacomas manager after Daren Brown was added to the major league staff, while Woodward was a roving minor-league infield co-ordinator. McClendon said he was impressed by Waits and his view of how a pitching staff should be handled. "He really blew me away from the interview process," McClendon said. "(He) represented everything I wanted in a pitching coach." McClendon is bringing in Andy Van Slyke (first-base coach) and Mike Rojas (bullpen coach) from outside the organization. Van Slyke has been out of coaching since 2009 when he left the staff in Detroit, where he worked with McClendon. He reached out to McClendon to express his interest in returning to coaching in Seattle. "He was excited for the opportunity to coach with me again," McClendon said. "Andy Is probably the most impressive practice coach I have ever been around." McClendon previously announced that Trent Jewett will serve as his bench coach. The team said that bullpen catcher JasonPhillips and Scott Budner (left-handed batting practice pitcher) would return, and Zduriencik said if Brown does not find another major league job he has already signed a contract for a minor league position in the Mariners organization. Williams, playing in Dubai courtesy of a wild card, has been sidelined with a back injury since losing to Ana Ivanovic in the fourth round of the Australian Open last month. It took Williams the first set to adjust to the left-handed Makarovas ability to jam many of her shots into the top-ranked Americans body. "I felt a little rusty, but it was OK," Williams said. "Body is fine. I just had to get my feet moving, but it was OK." The 24th-ranked Makarova broke Williams serve in the first game of the match and was serving for the set at 5-4. Thats when the Russian played an error-riddled game to allow Williams to even the score to 5-5. Williams had one set point on Makarovas serve in the 12th game, but smacked a backhand return over the baseline. In the tiebreaker, Makarova had two set points at 6-4 and 6-5, but couldnt take advantage of the opportunities. Williams took the first set on her third set point in the tiebreaker when Makarova shipped a forehand long. "I was really telling myself to stay positive, because I was making a lot of errors that I normally dont make, and my serve just wasnt popping the way it normally is," Williams said. "It definitely got better in the second set." In the second set, the real Serena Williams showed up and raced to a 5-0 lead. However, she had trouble serving out the final game of the match -- facing three break points before winning on her second match point when Makarova made a forehand error. "She never gives up, and in that last game she started playing even better," Williams said. "I knew that I wanted to close it out there, because shed probably feel comfortablle with holding serve and it would have been a longer match. Adidas Zx Flux Prezzo. " Williams now plays Lucie Safarova of the Czech Republic or fifth-seeded Jelena Jankovic of Serbia in the quarter-finals. Earlier, Ivanovic sent sixth-seeded Angelique Kerber packing 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (6). The former top-ranked Ivanovic had three match points on Kerbers serve in the 12th game but couldnt close it out against the German who reached last weeks Doha final. Ivanovic even faced a battle in the tiebreaker. The Serbian led 5-1, but Kerber battled back to where she even had a match point at 6-5. "The first two sets a little bit too many errors on my side and a little bit from her side," Ivanovic said. "Shes such a tough competitor and retrieves lots of balls. "Im just so happy to be through." Seventh-seeded Simona Halep, who won last weeks Qatar Open in Doha, retired with a right Achilles injury while trailing Alize Cornet of France 6-1, 1-1, in the first match of the day. Halep complained of an inflamed Achilles during her run to the Doha title. "I wanted to try because I like to try to fight for my chance, but here I couldnt," Halep said. "After one set I realized that it is dangerous to continue." Eighth-seeded Caroline Wozniacki had to overcome a one-set deficit to outmanoeuvr Sabine Lisicki of Germany 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 and move into the second round. "I knew she was going to come out hot and just go for her shots, and I felt like I was just a step behind," said Wozniacki, who sports an 8-carat diamond engagement ring from fiance, golfer Rory McIloy everywhere she goes except on court. "It was nice to win this one, and, you know, onwards and upwards, as they say." Wozniacki will face German qualifier Annika Beck in the second round. Beck defeated Samantha Stosur of Australia 1-6, 6-1, 6-4. wholesale jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' '

ATLANTA -- With PaulMillsap nursing a sore knee and AlHorford likely out for the season, MikeScott filled a big void to help the Atlanta Hawks snap an eight-game skid. Nike Free 3.0 V5 Sale UK . Scott scored a career-high 30 points, JeffTeague added 28 and the Hawks rallied to beat the New York Knicks 107-98 on Saturday night. "We were down Paul, down so many bodies," Scott said. "It was great for everyone to come out and play and finally get a win." CarmeloAnthony finished with 35 points and TysonChandler had a season-high 23 rebounds for the Knicks, who blew a double-digit, third-quarter lead for the second straight night. New York has lost two straight and seven of nine to fall 5 1/2 games behind Atlanta for the eighth and final Eastern Conference playoff spot. Atlanta began the game without Millsap, who sustained a right knee contusion late in Fridays loss at Detroit, but the Hawks rallied from a 17-point deficit to take a 74-73 lead on Lou Williams 3-pointer early in the fourth. The Hawks, who finished 16 for 31 beyond the arc, never trailed again. "It feels so good," Teague said. "You work hard every day. We come in here and compete. We just couldnt get over the jump the last couple of games. To get one under our belt made us feel really good." New York coach Mike Woodson said before the game that the Knicks were preparing to buy out the contracts of veterans MettaWorldPeace and BenoUdrih. Neither made the trip to Atlanta, but Anthony indicated the teams problems are bigger than one or two players. "Its same things, different days," Anthony said. "Its starting to get tough to handle. Its definitely tested me. The frustration has definitely sunk in." Scott scored nine straight points to put the Hawks up 33-23 in the second, but New York went on a 33-6 run to take a 56-39 lead on RaymondFeltons long jumper early in the third. Anthony grabbed a rebound midway through the third, dribbled up the court and hit a 3 from the right wing to make it 63-48. He and Hawks guard DeMarreCarroll were called for a double technical foul on Atlantas ensuing possession and Woodson, who was defending Anthony to official Ed Malloy, was called for a technical, too. "I think the biggest thing is a lot of people get caught up in me and Carmelo trash talking, but I think it was bigger than Carmelo tonight," said Carroll, who finished with a season-high 24 points. "Coach (Mike Budenholzer) told me that youve got to learn how to get your guys motivated. If Ive got to talk to our guys to get JeffTeague scoring (eight) in a row and Mike knocking down 3s and Lou, thats why Ive got to do." The Knicks, who lost in double-overtime Friday at Orlando, fell into another defensive lapse on the perimeter from the closing seconds of the third through the first two-plus minutes of the fourth. Williams began the game 0 for 7 from the field, but hit three straight 3s, and Hawks also got one trey from Scott and Teague to take an 80-75 lead. "We have leads, we have opportunities to win the ball game and down the stretch we get in close games," Chandler said. "Whenever you give up 39 points in the fourth quarter, its going to be difficult for you to win." Scotts previous career high was 23 points at New York last April 17. EltonBrand, the Hawks 15th-year centre, played a team-high 43 minutes, finishing with one point and six rebounds. Another starter, guard ShelvinMack, finished with just three points after going 1 for 9 from the field. Atlanta outscored the Knicks by 17 points at the free throw line. It seems as nothing is going right for New York. "Im going to keep coaching and Im going to keep pushing," Woodson said. "If it means being naggy or whatever, thats my job. But Ive got to get them over the hump, man. Ive got to get them over this funk that were in." The Kings hope to stave off elimination again when they visit the San Jose Sharks for Saturdays Game 5 at SAP Center. The Kings dropped the first three games of this best-of-seven series to get pushed to the brink of elimination, but Los Angeles survived one do-or-die game with Thursdays 6-3 home victory against the Sharks. Of course, L.A. needs to make NHL history in order to make it out of the first round. Only the 1942 Toronto Maple Leafs, 1975 New York Islanders and 2010 Philadelphia Flyers have won a best-of-seven series after dropping the first three games. The Kings, however, have not had success in San Jose in recent years and those struggles extend into the postseason. Los Angeles outlasted the Sharks in seven games during last springs meeting in the conference semifinals, but it lost all three outings in San Jose. The Sharks, who hold the home-ice advantage in this set, have beaten the Kings in 12 of the past 13 meetings as the host, including Games 1 and 2 of this set. San Jose is 6-2 all-time against the Kings in home playoff games. "Going into their building, every home team thrives off of their crowd and their home building this time of year," said Kings captain DustinBrown. "So we need to be prepared to do the little things and the right things, especially early, and again, chip away. You cant look too far ahead, especially against a team like this." MarianGaborik and JustinWilliams each scored twice to help the Kings post Thursdays win and make their first step towards a monumental comeback. JonathanQuick stopped 36 shots to help L.A. avoid the sweep. The game was tied 2-2 in the second before Williams and TylerToffoli tallied 2:54 apart late in the frame to send thee Kings into the third with a 4-2 lead. Nike Free 3.0 V3 Womens. Gaborik scored his second of the night 34 seconds into the third, and Quick, despite giving up a power-play goal to JoePavelski at 11:36, made enough saves down the stretch to extend Los Angeles season. Brown added an empty-netter with 1:28 remaining to account for the final margin. "Were certainly happy we got the win but we feel we have a long road to go obviously," Williams said. "Youre happy to play in the playoffs but you want to excel in the playoffs and we havent been able to do that so far in this series. Were trying to push it game by game and win one more next game." Los Angeles does have a few players on its roster that were part of a 3-0 playoff comeback. Kings forwards JeffCarter and MikeRichards were both members of the 2010 Flyers team that stormed back to beat Boston in the conference semifinals after losing the first three games. Carter, however, missed that historic series with a broken foot before returning later in the playoffs to help Philadelphia make a surprise run to the Cup Finals. JamesSheppard and MattNieto each scored once for the Sharks. AnttiNiemi allowed five goals on 26 shots before being pulled early in the third in favor of AlexStalock, who made four saves in relief. "We didnt execute anywhere near the way they did," San Jose head coach Todd McLellan said. "When we go back to the goals its quite easy to pinpoint some of the mistakes that we made and for us to have success moving forward, that has to get cleaned up quickly." A win tonight will get San Jose into the second round for the fourth time in five seasons. The Kings were last eliminated in the opening round in 2011, when San Jose beat them in six games. If L.A. wins Saturdays Game 5 then the series will continue Monday in Los Angeles. wholesale jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' '

CLEVELAND -- CoreyKluber began the season as one of the question marks in Clevelands rotation. Nike Free 3.0 womens . The right-hander ends May as one of the top pitchers in the American League. Kluber struck out 12 in 7 1-3 innings to continue his dominant pitching in May and the Indians beat the Colorado Rockies 5-2 on Friday night. "Its fun to write his name in the lineup every five days," Indians manager Terry Francona said. "He continues to get better and better. Hes got power, movement and command. Hes pretty good." Kluber (6-3) has been a lot better than pretty good. Other than giving up a two-run homer in the fourth inning to CarlosGonzalez, he was in complete control of the highest-scoring offence in the NL. He recorded his third double-figure strikeout game this season and ends the month with a 4-0 record and a 2.09 ERA in six starts. Kluber, who struck out a career-high 13 on May 4 against the Chicago White Sox, finished the month with 60 strikeouts in 43 innings. The right-hander allowed five hits with one walk and was given a standing ovation by the crowd of 25,066 when he was pulled after retiring the first batter in the eighth. "To do it against that lineup tonight -- thats a very difficult lineup to strike out," Francona said. "Thats as much, or more impressive as anything, to do it against that team." Kluber, who rarely shows any emotion when hes on the mound, downplayed his accomplishments and says he wasnt aware that he leads the AL with 95 strikeouts. "I had no idea, honestly," he said. "I keep saying when you guys ask me that strikeouts are a by-product of making good pitches. Im not going out there trying to strike guys out." Kluber was given several ovations as his strikeout totals rose, but he remained focused on the task at hand. "Im kind of locked in when Im out there," he said. "I dont really notice." AsdrubalCabreras two-run homer broke a fifth-inning tie. The Indians snapped a four-game losing streak while the Rockies fell to 2-5 on their nine-game trip. Colorado didnt have a hit through three innings, but CoreyDickerson led off the fourth with a double and Gonzalez homered to right-centre on an 0-1 pitch with one out. "It was a changeup, belt high down the middle, it wasnt a good pitch," Kluber said. Rockies manager Walt Weiss, who was ejected in the sixth inning, was impressed. "That nasty breaking ball, and we knew he did coming in, but he commanded it and it was a good one," Weiss said. "It was hard and late and hes on a good run. And he threw well again tonight." Cleveland chased JuanNicasio (5-3) with a four-run fifth. MichaelBourns single tied the game before Cabreras homer put Cleveland ahead. LonnieChisenhall, who drove in two runs, added an RBI double. Kluber struck out the side in the third. He took control after Gonzalezs homer in the fourth. Seven of the next nine outs were strikeouts and he got CharlieCulberson to bounce into a double play to end the seventh. CodyAllen pitched a perfect ninth for his second save. Gonzalez returned to the lineup after not starting Wednesday because of a sore right calf. He fouled a pitch off his leg Tuesday and left the game, and was limited to pinch-hitting duties Wednesday. His home run snapped an 0-for-11 slump, but Colorado has 16 runs in the first seven games of the trip and is 5 for 51 with runners in scoring position. The Rockies frustration boiled over in the sixth when MichaelCuddyer was called out on strikes by plate umpire John Tumpane. Cuddyer angrily argued the call before being pulled away. Weiss continued the argument and was ejected for the first time in his managerial career. MichaelBrantley extended his hitting streak to 15 games with a fifth-inning double and has hit in 19 consecutive home games, a Progressive Field record. JasonKipnis second-inning single snapped an 0-for-15 slump. He returned Wednesday after missing 25 games with a strained right oblique. NOTES: Rockies 3B NolanArenado (broken finger) visited doctors at the Cleveland Clinic, who confirmed the diagnosis of Colorado team doctors that he wont need surgery. The plan is to let the finger heal on its own and theres no timetable for his return. ... Indians 3B/C CarlosSantana (concussion) said hes feeling better, but doesnt know when hell resume physical activities. He was placed on the 7-day DL Tuesday. ... Cleveland RHP ZachMcAllister (sore back) threw a simulated game Friday and is scheduled to throw on the side Sunday. ... Rockies LHP FranklinMorales faces RHP TrevorBauer on Saturday. "Its two games and I felt good for the majority of the first period last game, so Ill just build off that," Dubnyk said on Wednesday. "I know what Ive got to do to go play. The six-year vet is 1-0-1 with a 3.29 goals against average and .892 save percentage in two meetings with the Canadiens and gets the call tonight despite LaBarbera helping backstop the Oilers to a 5-4 shootout win over New Jersey on Monday. LaBarbera made 21 saves on 25 shots faced through overtime, but turned aside both skaters he faced in the shootout, while Edmontons JordanEberle and DavidPerron converted their chances. It capped a furious comeback for the Oilers, who trailed by three goals entering the third period before getting four straight tallies from RyanNugent-Hopkins, AndrewFerence, Perron and TaylorHall. The Devils did net a tying goal with 54 seconds left in regulation. "It was a fun game. Its not a situation we want to put ourselves in, but it was a great win. That final period was great," said Nugent-Hopkins, who made his season debut following shoulder surgery. The Canadiens have lost two of three to begin the season and dropped a 3-2 decision in Calgary last night. Montreal yielded a pair of goals in the first period and trailed by three before getting goals from P.K.Subban and LarsEller. Subban also assisted on Ellers third-period tally, but took a late penalty to halt any chance of a comeback. "We didnt react well to the two mistakes we made in the first period, and its one of those things where we took some penalties in the third period and we shouldnt have taken those type of penalties," Montreal head coach Michel Therrien said. AndreiMarkov picked up his 400th career point with an assist, while Eller has notched four goals and six points through the first three games. wholesale jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' '

TORONTO - With just over two minutes remaining in the first half of Mondays win over the lowly Bucks, KyleLowry dumped the ball into JonasValanciunas on the left block. wholesale jerseys . Isolated against ErsanIlyasova, Valanciunas turned to face up, took one dribble and barreled into the smaller defender, who took the charge. As Milwaukee called a timeout, Lowry followed the Raptors promising sophomore centre straight to the bench. Know your opponent, he implored, instructing Valanciunas to post-up when he has a size and strength advantage over the defender. The Raptors were up by 14 at the time, they would go on to win by 22 and Valanciunas would register his 12th double-double of the campaign, four more than he totalled as a rookie last season. Still, Lowry was all over the gaffe. The two have developed a mutually beneficial mentor-protg relationship. "Hes kind of like a coach," Valanciunas said of Lowry after practice the day prior. He knows a lot, he tries to help everybody, especially me because Im the young guy." Lowry has been as tough on the young centre as anyone in the Raptors organization and as such his fingerprints can be found all over the 21-year-olds continued development. "Hes been great," coach Dwane Casey told TSN.ca, speaking of Lowry and the leadership role hes taken with Valanciunas. "He has a way of getting on him but yet still he has a relationship with him that he can talk to him that way. "Other people may not understand it but Kyles done a great job of working with Jonas, letting him know what he needs to do. [Hes] just been a great mentor to him. Thats been huge for Jonas." Both players are approaching the middle of their second season together in Toronto. Lowry was acquired in a trade from Houston in July of 2012, just around the same time Valanciunas - Torontos fifth overall pick in 2011 - had arrived from Lithuania. After missing the bulk of training camp with injuries last season, both of their Raptor careers got off to shaky starts. While Lowry struggled through injuries, fluctuating playing time and philosophical differences with the coaching staff, Valanciunas experienced the growing pains you would expect from a 20-year-old getting accustomed to his surroundings in a new country, in a new league. Valanciunas has seen his playing time increase by five minutes per night in his second season; hes regularly on the court during crucial moments at the end of games and he is becoming more of a focal point in Torontos offence. However, as both his coach and his point guard would tell you, hes far from a finished product. He continues to make nightly mistakes - with his positioning, in the pick-and-roll game, and on defence, particularly as the help man - and Lowry is usually the first person to let him hear about it. "Every time he messes up we talk about it," Lowry said. "I tell him what he did and then he fixes it and I congratulate him when he does it [right]. "I think he has the skills and he has the heart and he has the right mentality to be one of the best bigs in the league," the Raptors point guard continued. "My constructive criticism is just tough, big brother love. I think the world of him, I think he can be so good [and] thats why I push him. Im always going to be tough on him because I know how good hes going to be." Lowry, an eight-year NBA vet, is also coming into his own, playing the best basketball of his career and spearheading the Raptors recent resurgence. "Thats just coming from buying in if you ask me," former Raptors teammate Alan Anderson said of Lowry. Most importantly - for a player that will be in the market for a new contract this summer - he is well on his way to shedding the reputation that has followed him like a dark cloud over the years. "Kyles showed hes been a positive leader," Casey said over the weekend. "I think that was the biggest question among coaches around the league, could he be a positive leader and be productive on the court." Not only has he been productive, averaging career-highs across the board, but hes been the consummate professional his team has desperately needed him to be while remaining a positive influence on his younger teammates, namely Valanciunas. Occasionally combative, Lowrys fiery nature has often been misunderstood. The reality - which his teammates and coaches have come to accept and appreciate - is, he holds himself and everyone around him to an incredibly high standard. He is a fierce competitor with an unrelenting will to win. Lowry is a strong personality, certainly not the first Casey has coached. The Raptors coach worked with future Hall of Famer KevinGarnett in Minnesota and current Nets bench boss JasonKidd in Dallas, but Lowrys leadership style reminds him of another hard-nosed point guard from his past. "The guards that Ive had, GaryPayton was one of the [toughest]," Casey said, having coached The Glove as an assistant in Seattle. "He would use some colourful words to talk with his teammates but they understood it, he had a relationship with [them], just like Kyle.Kyle reminds me so much of Gary in the fact that he can talk to players in a certain way that they understand because he has their respect and he has a relationship with them. "As long as you have that relationship and you back it up with love and real sugar than you can get on guys but I havent seen Kyle be overly tough on JV, just when he needs it and just the right amount." As Casey points out, Lowry walks a fine line between tough love and going too far, but he does it with precision. Hes hard on Valanciunas because he recognizes the young mans upside but also, and most importantly, he knows the seven-footer can take it. "Hes really receptive," Lowry said, "because I tell him, I tell him why Im so tough on him and he understands that. "He knows how to do it," said Valanciunas, who has thick skin, having played professionally in Europe since he was 15. "I understand hes my teammates, he wants me to do good and [Ive] just got to live with that." Whether or not Valanciunas realizes or fully appreciates it now, Lowry should have a long-lasting impact on his auspicious NBA career. As forLowry, his future with the team remains uncertain but wherever he ends up, after cashing in on this seasons revival, his Raptors legacy will live on in the growth of the franchises emerging centre. cheap nfl jerseys . PAUL, Minn. jerseys from china . PETERSBURG, Fla.HULL, England -- Manchester City overcame the early sending-off of captain Vincent Kompany to beat Hull 2-0 thanks to goals by David Silva and Edin Dzeko on Saturday, keeping the team in touch with Premier League leader Chelsea. Silva curled home the opening goal from outside the area in the 14th minute, just as City was reorganizing following a straight red card to Kompany for a professional foul on Nikica Jelavic in the 10th. Citys defence, often criticized this season, held firm and Silva set up Dzeko for the second in the 90th minute. Manuel Pellegrinis team reduced the gap to Chelsea to six points with two games in hand. Chelsea plays later Saturday at Aston Villa. City was playing three days after losing to Barcelona away in the Champions League in the last 16, so the last thing the visitors needed was to be reduced to 10 men early on. But thats what happened when Kompany was dispossessed by Jelavic about 40 metres out from his own goal and proceeded to tug at the jersey of the Croatia striker. As he was the last man, Kompany had to go and, having already shown his frustration on the pitch, he kicked out at a wall in the tunnel as he walked back to the dressing room. Pellegrini reacted by dropping holding midfielder Javi Garciia back into defence alongside Martin Demichelis but the changes had no adverse effect, with City going ahead four minutes later. nfl jerseys china. Yaya Toure slipped a short ball through to Silva, who curled a brilliant shot inside the post from 25 yards. Pablo Zabaleta almost doubled the lead when he sent a dipping volley against the underside of the bar in the 31st minute. From then on, it was mostly Hull on the attack, without seriously testing City goalkeeper Joe Hart. David Meyler had a goal disallowed for offside, Jake Livermore shot just wide from 20 metres and, just after the break, Jelavic didnt get enough purchase on a free kick as Hart easily saved. Fernandinho spurned a great chance for the City in the 72nd when he ran onto Silvas deflected shot, but all alone in the penalty box, he screwed a left-footed shot wide. Minutes earlier, Hart escaped a red card after motioning his head toward George Boyd after the Hull midfielder tumbled under a challenge by the goalkeeper. Hart was booked. Dzeko, playing on his own up front in the absence of the injured Sergio Aguero, grabbed his first goal in nine games in all competitions with a fierce left-foot shot with seconds left in normal time to end Hulls hopes of a point. wholesale jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' '

Some interesting details have emerged regarding Sundays blockbuster trade between the Buffalo Sabres and New York Islanders involving forwards ThomasVanek and MattMoulson. jerseys from china . As reported on Tuesday by TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie, Vaneks former team the Sabres will retain approximately $1.4 million - or roughly 20 per cent - of whats left of the $6.4 million he is still owed in the final year of his contract. TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun added Tuesday that if the 2014 first-round draft pick acquired by Buffalo in the deal ends up being a Top 10 selection in June, the Islanders would have the option to defer the pick to the 2015 draft. Another wrinkle in trade news from the weekend came up on Tuesday as TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger reported that Vanek was offered to the Toronto Maple Leafs three-to-four days ago, but there was no deal to be made. According to Dreger, the return that general manager Darcy Regier received from the Islanders for Vanek was something that the Maple Leafs - or other clubs - werent willing to pay. The Islanders acquired Vanek from the Sabres in exchange for Moulson, a first-round draft pick in 2014 and a 2015 second-round pick. Vanek - who is in the last year of a seven-year, $50 million contract - will become an unrestricted free agent after this season. Moulson - who scored twice in a 4-3 loss to Dallas on Monday - is also in the final year of his deal and speculation is that the Sabres could trade him again prior to the Mar. 5 deadline. wholesale jerseys . LOUIS -- Walking BillyHamilton to start the ninth inning was a bad sign for TrevorRosenthal.Got a question on rule clarification, comments on rule enforcements or some memorable NHL stories? Kerry wants to answer your emails at cmonref@tsn.ca! Hey Kerry,The Emery-Holtby debacle. Whats your take on the ref giving up on his (half-hearted?) intervention between the two? It was quite obvious Holtby had no interest in the fight. Not only that, while Holtby is still trying to get away, with his back to Emery and Emery raining blows to the back of Holtbys head, the ref waves off anyone who might be coming to intervene. It obviously looks bad for Emery, but I have to question the refs actions on this one as well.Eric Stone---Hey Kerry,Im sure youre getting a lot of e-mails and attention in regards to the brawl between the Philadelphia Flyers and Washington Capitals. My question to you is in regards to the referee Franois St Laurent. How and why did he allow that one-sided "fight" go on for such a long duration? It actually became uncomfortable to watch. Did he actually follow protocol? Or should he had intervened?Thanks!TC---Hi Kerry, love your column and appreciate your contribution over your long career as NHL referee.Id like to set aside the fighting debate here and ask: Under the current rules and regulations, would you defend the refereeing in the Flyers/Capitals game on Nov 1? In particular, Im focused on the ref (right next to the fight) allowing RayEmery to pummel an unwilling Holtby even after he was in a defenseless position. Id be curious to know your thoughts and what youd have done differently?Thanks,Matt---Hey Kerry,I dont think I need to elaborate on the absolute insanity that was the Capitals/Flyers line brawl on Nov 1st, 2013.But what in the name of all the hockey gods was referee Francois St. Laurent doing by allowing RayEmery to just pound on an unwilling and defenseless BradenHoltby? I understand that he probably didnt want to get hit by Emery (I wouldnt either) but he was even preventing Holtbys teammates from coming to his defense while Emery perpetrated what I cant even call a fight, but only call assault.I think I understand the third man in rule, and that St. Laurent was threatening the Caps with that, but wasnt there something else St. Laurent could have done instead of letting Emery just violate Holtby?Cmon Ref!Rama Sriharsha,Orillia, ON.---Hi Kerry, During the Philly-Washington game Emery skated the length of the ice and went after Holtby. From watching the replay it was obvious that Holtby did not want to fight BUT was force to defend himself. What are the responsibilities of the referees when a player (Holtby) cant defend himself in a fight? The referee (No. 38) allowed Emery to repeatedly strike (Holtby) in the back of the head. The NHL is concerned about concussions to player, injuries to the brain and the NHL has created rule to help protect the players. What if any responsibilities does the NHL have in addressing the actions of the referee (#38) on how he handled the Emery-Holtby fight. If so why arent the public informed of these corrective actions?Jeffrey KallesWhitehorse, Yukon---Hi Kerry,Im sure your InBox is full of questions about Fridays Caps/Flyers game, but Im adding another one. To me, a suspension for RayEmery is a given, but Im curious about any possible discipline for the referee and linesmen who allowed the fight to continue. It was obvious that Holtby wanted no part of the fight and that Emery was the clear winner. Why didnt any of the officials break it up after Holtby was defenceless and Emery continued to throw punches? It looked like several Caps players wanted to step in and help Holtby, and I understand why they were waved off, but why didnt the officials step in at that point and stop it? Can the officials face discipline for allowing a one-sided fight with an unwilling opponent to continue? Thanks!Amie AndersonDear All: (The list is too long to mention you all by name): CMon Refs InBox is overflowing with questions surrounding "Sugar Ray" Emerys unanimous decision (just short of a knockout) over BradenHoltby. If this happened in the ring I am confident the Referee would have stopped the bout when Holtby was on the ropes, no longer able to defend himself and as the back of his head was being used as a speed bag. The same response should have been implemented by the Ref on the ice. Score one for the proponents of old-time hockey; but for many a "black eye" to the game and whomever was responsible for selecting enforcer/goalkeeper, RayEmery the third start of the game with stats of 4 goals against on 15 shots (11 saves) and 29 PIMs in 22:47 just minutes played! So long as fighting is allowed to remain in the game of hockey and punishable under the rules with a five-minute major penalty; an additional minor and misconduct when an instigator is identified; or up to and including a game misconduct imposed to an aggressor (all of which RayEmery incurred), line brawls and incidents such as this can and will occur. Lets first remember there were three other fights that erupted during this stoppage of play beyond RayEmery charging the length of the ice to engage BradenHoltby; (WayneSimmonds vs. TomWilson; Braydon Shenn vs. AlexanderUrbom; VincentLecavalier vs. Steve Oleksy). Once all the fights got rolling and we do the math there were a total of eight fighters and four officials to attempt to break them up. Linesmen are instructed to remain wiith the original combatants (Simmonds and Wilson) and enter a fight as a two-man unit so as not to give one player a free hand or advantage over another. wholesale nfl jerseys. Their job was to get those original fights to the penalty box as quickly as possible and move on to the next most aggressive fight in progress. In theory, the Referees first job is to clear the area of a fight by waving all players to their respective benches or at the very least to separate and assume a location well away from the altercation (Rule 46.18 - $1,000 fine to the team and $1,000 fine to the coach for players failing to clear the area). Refs are also responsible for assessing the penalties so they must watch for various infractions that could result during a fight such as third-man-in, improper jersey tie-downs, head butt, eye gouging, scratching, biting, tape on hands, etc.) Once multiple fights take place these responsibilities are not cast aside but must mesh with the overriding decision for the Ref(s) to intervene in an attempt to prevent a fight or jump in if a player is in jeopardy. That is the exact position that Referee Francois St. Laurent found himself in once he became aware that Emery had charged up the ice and was challenging an unwilling fight participant in BradenHoltby. With all that was going on at the time the Referee appeared to be unaware of Emerys charge and as a result of this lack of awareness was slow to place himself in a good frontal position to intercept Emery. From a weak position to the side of the two goalies and with one hand and poor leverage St. Laurant could not adequately contain RayEmery and the fight began. Since BradenHoltby was not a willing combatant I would have been much more assertive and aggressive in gaining a position in front of Emery, placed both hands on his outer arms and flexed my knees to gain a position of leverage and strength. It is extremely important for a Ref who places himself in this position to talk RayEmery down so that the player does not respond with aggression toward the official. I would have said, "Ray, my friend, listen to me. Nothing good can happen for you here. I cannot and will not let you get past me. Well be in for a rough ride and you dont want to be physically aggressive with me because I would hate to see you get an automatic 20-game suspension!" With the death grip I would have placed on him, RayEmery would know that I meant business. None of this happened, however, and Ray the former boxer launched a barrage of punches that hit the target. Once Emery quickly got the upper hand in this fight and Holtby was incapacitated I would have grabbed/tied up Emerys punching arm and slipped my chest and body in front of the Flyer fighter and skated him backward with my legs driving quickly and forcefully. I would immediately talk with the player to get his mind distracted and his adrenaline under control. At no time when a player was taking a severe beating would I stand on the sidelines and allow it to happen without intervening, nor would I waive players away from coming to the aid of their teammate that was placed in a position of peril. I would assess the appropriate penalties that resulted from a third-man-in. Some of you might suggest its easy for me to say these things while sitting in a chair in front of a keyboard. I can assure you there were too many times to count when I jumped into altercations during line brawls and bench clearings. I jumped on the back of players and became the top layer of a three person sandwich when one guy had his opponent down and was feeding him his lunch. I remained in this position until the linesmen arrived on the scene or I was able to talk some calm into the aggressor. I had the occasion to ride ChrisChelios halfway across the Madhouse On Madisons ice surface until I finally took him down from behind by his suspenders when the linesmen were busy elsewhere. In Boston Garden on May 4, 1988 during Game 2 of the Wales Conference Final between the Bruins and the Devils, I jumped into an altercation between Moe Lemay and JohnMacLean to assist linesman Ron Huck Finn. Our partner Gerard Gauthier was tied up with Bruin Willie Plett and Perry Anderson of the Devils at the time and unavailable. I moved around Lemay to tie him up just as John McLean unloaded his best shot with a left hand from over the top that caught me right between the eyes. It staggered me momentarily but also fired me up so much I skated Lemay out of the altercation and straight to the penalty box. My timing wasnt great but the end result was; Huck and I quickly broke up the fight as MacLean received 14 minutes in penalties and Lemay 17. Fortunately for me, MacLean had the soft hands of a scorer and not those of a puncher! Finally on April 25, 2006 in the Eastern Conference quarterfinal in Tampa between the Lightning and Ottawa Senators, Vinny Lecavalier made the poor decision to start a secondary fight with ZdenoChara. As "Big Z" had Vinnie on his back and ready to do some damage I dove into the altercation, covered Lecavaliers face with my body and shoved "Z" off. When Chara attempted to return I gave him the finger point and warned him of a suspension. Until the NHL and NHLPA agree to change the fighting rule to conform with the IIHF, NCAA College Hockey and other leagues, player safety will remain in the hands of the Linesmen and on occasion the Referees to know when and how to intervene in a fight. Engaging in a fight is about only time a player can pound his opponent in the head and not fear the threat of a suspension; even if his opponent is an unwilling combatant. wholesale jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' '

MIAMI -- The Miami Marlins were heated after Thursday nights game when a call from Major League Baseballs new instant replay system and the rule preventing catchers from blocking the plate did not go their way. Womens Mike McGlynn Limited Jersey White Nike NFL Kansas City Chiefs . The Cincinnati Reds thought MLB got it just right. A long delay in the eighth inning resulted in what the Marlins thought was the third out turning into the tying run. ZackCozart was initially ruled out by home plate umpire Mike Winters on the play at the plate. The review extended the inning and RyanLudwick delivered a two-run single to help give the Reds a 3-1 victory. "The fact of that matter is that everyone around baseball should be embarrassed by a call like that," Marlins president David Samson said during an expletive-laced postgame tirade. With the Marlins leading 1-0 in the top of the eighth, the Reds loaded the bases with one out. BryanMorris got ToddFrazier to fly out to right fielder GiancarloStanton whose throw to the plate easily beat Cozart for what appeared to be the final out of the inning when catcher JeffMathis tagged out Cozart, who trotted in without a slide. However, after a 6-minute, 10-second instant replay review, the call was overturned because Mathis was ruled to be blocking the plate and Cozart was called safe, tying the game 1-1. Marlins manager Mike Redmond was immediately ejected after throwing his hat to the ground and arguing with the umpires. Redmond kicked his hat on his way back to the dugout for good measure. "As a former catcher in this league for 13 seasons, as a grinder, as a guy who loves this game and respects this game so much, this game has been a part of my life forever, but to lose a ballgame tonight on that play is a joke, its an absolute joke," Redmond said. "I dont think anybody who plays this game should feel good about winning that game and I would say that if it had been reversed. That guy was out by 15 feet." Cozart saw it differently. "I thought it was pretty obvious from the replay that they made the right call," he said. Reds manager BryanPrice agreed. "Cozart was out by a fairly reasonable margin, but the catcher, from the inception of that ball going off the bat, had taken away the entire plate with his feet," Price said. "His body was in the middle of the plate." During the delay, Mathis, a 10-year veteran, was confident that he did everything right in accordance of the rules. "Im just disgusted," Mathis said. "Thats a tough way to lose a game. ... For it to be decided like that, its just disgusting." MLB issued a statement about the play after the game: "We have begun to examine the Crew Chief Review in tonights Reds-Marlins game, which resulted in a violation of Rule 7.13, the call being overturned and a run scoring on the play," the statement said. "We plan to discuss this situation further with the appropriate parties tomorrow, and we will communicate with the clubs after our discussion about this play." Reds starter JohnnyCueto (12-6) struck out nine and allowed one run in seven innings and AroldisChapman pitched the ninth for his 24th save. Stanton hit his 25th home run and TomKoehler (7-8) took the loss allowing two unearned runs in seven innings. TRAINERS ROOM Chapman had to be tended to by trainers with two outs in the ninth when he had some discomfort in his right leg. He remained in the game and threw a 101 mph pitch to strike out MarcellOzuna to end the game. "I had a little discomfort in the leg," Chapman said. "It was an awkward step I took when I made the pitch." Reds reliever MannyParra (stiff back) has not pitched since July 20. "He is improving," Price said. "He played catch today. Its as day-to-day as it comes. It always seems like its a day away from him actually being a piece of what were doing." ON DECK The Reds MatLatos (2-3, 3.31) will start Fridays game against the Marlins JacobTurner (4-6, 5.69). Latos is 0-3 with a 5.26 ERA in seven starts against the Marlins. Turner will be making his first start at Marlins Park since May 31 against Atlanta. TO TRADE OR NOT TO TRADE The Marlins completed a six-player trade with the Houston Astros to acquire 24-year-old right-handed starter JarredCosart, who will be in Miami on Friday. There has not been a decision when Cosart will join the rotation. The Reds did not make any deals at the non-waiver deadline. "We were involved in a lot of different negotiations, but in the end we were looking mainly for offence and there really wasnt the offensive pieces out there," Reds general manager Walt Jocketty said. "In fact, none of the guys that we had talked about were moved. I think the asking prices were beyond what we felt comfortable with." Nike Game Joe Mays Mens Jersey Chiefs Road White . As the lowest-ranked of nine unseeded European qualifiers, France was expected to go in the Africa-dominated draw pot meaning it could not be placed in the same group as a top-seeded European team.RobBlake remembers what it was like to get the call from Hockey Canada to play in the world championship the day after his season with the Los Angeles Kings ended. Blake donned the red-and-white Maple Leaf five times at the tournament over his career, winning gold twice. This spring hell be making those calls as Canadas general manager for the world championship that takes place in May in Minsk, Belarus. Because its an Olympic year, Blake and his staff -- Ron Hextall of the Philadelphia Flyers, Brad Treliving of the Phoenix Coyotes and Brad Pascall of Hockey Canada -- might have some different challenges convincing players to commit. But the 44-year-old Kings assistant GM knows what to sell. "I cant stress how important the opportunity to win is," Blake said in a phone interview Wednesday. "I convey to them what the world championships is all about. ... You look at your career and it goes by pretty fast. Theres not a lot of opportunities you have to win something." Blake represented Canada at the world championship in 1998, months after playing in the Nagano Olympics. "Being in that position and having won a couple of those tournaments, you can relate those stories to (potential players)," Blake said. Canada, like many other teams at the world championship, is expected to have a young roster in Minsk because its an Olympic year. Not only does that likely rule out the players who won gold in Sochi (CoreyPerry was the only 2010 Olympian to play at the worlds), but Treliving said there are other complications. "Its a little bit unique in the sense not only from an Olympic year and the guys that went over and played, but even from the NHL schedule and the compactness of the NHL schedule, for everybody, including those who didnt go over and play," he said in a phone interview. Four years ago, Canadas group at the world championships included 18-year-old EvanderKane, 19-year-olds MattDuchene and JohnTavares and 20-year-old StevenStamkos. Expect similar youth this time around. "I think its going to be very similar to the teams in the past," Blake said. "The young guys are the ones that make an easy commitment. They dont have the family commitment, the kids commitment and different things that as you get older you might have involved in this type of decision. I think, typically, younger guys are the ones and then you surround them with the right veterans and you can have some success." One thing Blake, Hextall and Treliving have in common is theyre all general managers of their organizations AHL affiliate, giving them some experience with younger players. Blake is in his first season as Kings assistant GM, replacing Hextall, who took the same job in Philadelphia. Treliving is in his seventh season as the Coyotes assistant GM. "Blakeys been around the game a long time," Hextall said. "Hes a very patient guy, hes methodical and hes very sharp. I know he had a hand in a world championship team in the past, so Im sure that little bit of experience helps him." Along with Pascall, Hockey Canadas vice president of hockey operations and national teams, those men will have conference calls over the next few weeks to discuss putting together a coaching staaff and then a projected roster. Elite Jamaal Charles Lights Out Black Jersey Chiefs Autographed Nike Mens. That process has already begun. "I think youve got to look at teams that are not likely to make the playoffs and see whats available and at least get your mind going and start thinking about line combinations and checkers and energy guys and scorers," Hextall said in a phone interview. "Its never too early to start thinking." The immediate next step for the management team is to zero in on coaches. Ralph Krueger, who served as a coaching consultant in Sochi, and KevinDineen, who coached the womens team to gold and will be behind the bench for the mens under-18 world championships next month, have been speculated as possible options. Either would fit with what Blake said in general terms hes looking for. "I think part of that staff should have some experience overseas, whether it be coaching over there, coaching an international tournament at some time or being involved on a staff," he said. "Its a different tournament, its not the same as over here. I think some of that experience in scheduling wise, knowing some of the teams and tendencies of those countries and obviously with the setup and that all being different than North America, its nice to have somebody with some experience on that." Part of this tournament is getting experience, for the players, coaches and members of the management staff. Blake, Hextall and Treliving are all legitimate candidates for head GM jobs in the not-too-distant future. Experience already gained in NHL front offices is key now. "I think you learn, its one thing to build a team over a long haul and what you have to do is use everything youve learned over the long haul to try and put a team together for the short term," said Hextall, who played in the 1987 Canada Cup and the 1992 world championship. "I think its more lessons Ive learned from NHL experience that Ill be able to lend a hand in trying to help Blake and Brad build this team." Getting this job also raises the possibility that Blake could be GM of Team Canada at the 2018 Olympics, if NHL players participate. SteveYzerman has already said its time for someone else to fill that role after winning back-to-back gold medals. "Thats a long ways down the line," Blake said. This tournament is not a long ways down the line, as Canada opens play May 9 against France. Blake already has some preliminary lists of potential players and will go through the process in the next few weeks of scouting and evaluating for those spots. Hell get some help in that regard not only from Hextall, Treliving and Pascall, but former NHL defenceman SteveStaios, who is the teams director of player development. Staios is then expected to assist the coaching staff on and off the ice in Minsk, perhaps similar to what Kruegers job was in the Olympics. Everything worked for Canada there, and even though the worlds in an Olympic year tend to be something of an afterthought, theyre far from that for those in charge of trying to win gold. "Any time you go and compete as Team Canada, the expectation is to win," Treliving said. "Obviously thats the expectation, thats the challenge for us and the goal for us putting this team together." wholesale jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' '

ATLANTA -- When AndreltonSimmons botched a grounder, the St. cheap china jerseys . Louis Cardinals seized their opportunity. For the Atlanta Braves, it was another night of missed chances. MattCarpenters two-run double that helped carry St. Louis past the slumping Braves, who shook up their lineup but still lost their seventh in a row, 4-3 on Monday. The Cardinals scored three runs in the fifth inning, taking advantage of shaky defence by Atlantas Gold Glove shortstop. In fact, Simmons had a couple of plays that couldve been scored errors but were initially ruled hits. The second one was changed to an E-6 and turned out to be especially costly, leading to a pair of unearned runs. St. Louis built a 4-0 lead and barely held on to win the series opener. "It was big," Carpenter said. "Especially when we got out to a big lead, to be able to hold them off, that was big for us." Desperate for more offence, Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez batted pitcher AaronHarang eighth and put second baseman RamiroPena in the ninth spot. Pena had two hits, including a seventh-inning homer that brought the Braves within a run, but they couldnt overcome a 4-0 deficit. Juston Upton took a called third strike from TrevorRosenthal to end the game with the potential tying run at second base -- Uptons fourth strikeout of the night and extending Atlantas woes with runners in scoring position. The Braves were 1 for 12 in those situations and are 6 of 51 during their losing streak, though FreddieFreeman saw some encouraging signs. "We hit some balls hard with runners on," he said. "We were in the game the whole game. We couldnt say that the past week." The last time the Braves had such a lengthy skid was May 21-28, 2012, when they dropped eight in a row. Their longest losing streak last season was four straight. ShelbyMiller (4-2) got a shaky win, giving up six hits and two runs in five-plus innings. TrevorRosenthal pitched out of trouble for his ninth save, giving up a leadoff single to Simmons. JordanSchafer bunted the runner to second, but Pena flied out to right before Upton whiffed. Harang (3-3) took the loss, though he pitched much better than his previous start, when he was pounded for nine runs by the Marlins. This time, he gave up four runs in six innings but only two were earned. The game was scoreless until the fifth, when PeterBourjos led off with a single before MarkEllis grounded one off Simmons glove. The shortstop, looking to make a force at second, appeared to take his eyes off the ball as it skipped past him. After Miller bunted the runners to second and third, Carpenter doubled to right-centre to bring them both in. Matt Holiday followed with a hard liner past third baseman ChrisJohnson to make it 3-0. "Those things happen," Harang said of Simmons error. "I told him not to be too hard on himself. Hes probably going to save my butt plenty of times this year." St. Louis added another run in the fifth on Bourjos RBI single, but Gonzalez challenged a call at third base that had seemingly given the Cardinals a 5-0 lead. YadierMolinas bases-loaded grounder ricocheted off Harangs leg, right to Johnson at third. He caught it and blindly stepped back in search of the bag and managed to barely nick it, as the replay showed. The called was quickly overturned after a review of only 37 seconds. The Braves knocked out Miller in the bottom half of the sixth, the first three hitters reaching safely. The Cardinals went to the bullpen after EvanGattis RBI single, and B.J.Upton followed with a sacrifice fly off PatNeshek. Neshek escaped the jam by striking out Simmons. NOTES: The Cardinals sent pitcher RHP JoeKelly back to St. Louis to continue his rehab from a strained left hamstring. "Joe just wasnt to the point where they thought they could push him, so keeping him around the rest of this road trip didnt make any sense," general manager John Mozeliak said. "I dont know Id call it a setback as much as he just wasnt progressing as quickly as we wanted." ... Serena, playing her first tournament since a fourth-round loss at the Australian Open, had little trouble bypassing fifth-seeded Jelena Jankovic of Serbia 6-2, 6-2 in the quarterfinals. The only blip in Williams game came when she lost serve in a tentatively played fifth game in the first set. "She was the better player tonight," Jankovic said. "Way better. "I just played a bad match on my terms." The only drama in the 76-minute match came in the final game with Jankovic serving. The umpire, Kader Nouni of France, told Jankovic she was serving too fast and then too slow, when taking more than the 25 seconds allotted. Williams was briefly brought into the fray when Jankovic made note that Williams often took more than the 25 seconds allowed to serve. After the match, the players conversed at the net and both reported they left the court on good terms. "I told her at the end, Look, I didnt mean anything. Im sorry if I played slow," Williams said. "She was like, No, it was more like they say (I) play too fast and then too slow. She said she couldnt get it right. "I was like, Look, are we cool because Im cool with you?" In that final game, Jankovic initially rebounded from love-40 before Williams won on a fourth match point with a scorching forehand passing shot. Thats what she does really well. I have to give her credit for that." Serving at 5-4 in the second set, Williams missed out on a match point when Pennetta hit a forehand crosscourt winner to bring the score to deuce. Four points later and Pennetta broke serve to even the score at 5-5. After Pennetta dropped serve in the 11th game Williams had a second chance to close out the match. Initially, Williams fell behind 0-40. On a second match point Pennetta popped a return long to concede the win. Williams will play eighth-seeded Caroline Wozniacki, the 2011 Dubai champion, in Fridays semifinals. Wozniacki had little trouble dispatching 27th-ranked Sorana Cirstea of Romania 6-1, 6-2. "That was really pleasing, and I always know that Sorana can be a tricky opponent," Wozniacki said. "I felt like I served well and I put the pressure on her and played the way I wanted to play today." WINNIPEG -- AlesHemsky admitted he was feeling down after being traded to Ottawa from Edmonton last Wednesday. Chris Jones Womens Jersey . But his mood picked up after he had three assists in the struggling Senators 5-3 win over the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday afternoon. "Its weird," said Hemsky, whos in his 11th NHL season. "You spend your whole career in one place and then you kind of realize youve come to the end. Its sad because I had a lot of great people there, even the locker-room was great and everybody treated me really well. "I was sad, but in the end I was excited to come here and play those type of games and battle for the playoffs." It was Hemskys second game and first points with Ottawa since he was traded and slotted on to the Senators top line. MilanMichalek scored the games first goal on the power play with an assist from Hemsky and centre JasonSpezza, who had three assists. "Hes an extremely offensively talented player," Spezza said of Hemsky. "I seem like I can read off him fairly easily. Ive watched him play a lot. Hes really good with the puck, hes got that short stick, protects it really well and is a good passer." Defencemen JaredCowen and EricGryba and centres KyleTurris and MikeHoffman also scored for Ottawa (28-25-11), which had lost two straight and four of its past five games heading into the match. CraigAnderson stopped 46 shots for the Senators. Spezza said the players arent satisfied splitting their four-game road trip with a win over Vancouver, losses to Edmonton and Calgary and then the victory in Winnipeg. "Its nice to get the win tonight and get two points and get moving in the right direction again, but no, were not happy with .500 out of this trip," Spezza said. "Were fighting for the playoffs. We needed more points than that." Ottawa was six points out of a playoff berth in the Eastern Conference before the game. Turriss goal was his 21st of season, while it was Hoffmans first career goal and assist. Michalek picked up two assists. Jets centre BryanLittle earned his 20th goal of the season. TobiasEnstrom and DustinByfuglien also scored for Winnipeg (30-28-7). OndrejPavelec started in goal for the Jets, but was replaced in the second period by AlMontoya after giving up five goals on 20 shots. Montoya stopped all 12 shots he faced. The Jets have lost three straight, including overtime against the New York Islanders and in regulation versus Los Angeles. Winnipeg head coach Paul Maurice wasnt hanging the loss on Pavelec. "I know he didnt have a chance on the first three (goals)," Maurice said. "The fourth is a play thats going behind the net and its a laser. If he gets that one, its as much luck as it is positioning on that one. "Ive got no problem with him. I didnt take him out to do anything other than calm the bench. He had seen enough." Winnipeg went into the game three points back of Dallas for the final wild-card playoff spot in the Western Conference and one point behind Phoenix, which visits Washington Saturday night. The Senators led 2-1 after the first period and 5-2 following the second. Each team scored a pair of power-play goals. "Anytime youre a team thats going through what were going through at this point, when you have the lead, no lead is safe until the game is over," Ottawa head coach Paul MacLean said. "I think that was the case with us tonight. I thought they came with a push a but at the end of the day I thought our goaltender held the fort for us really well." Michalek scored his 11th goal of the season at 9:54 of the opening period with a deflection off a Jets defender just 20 seconds after defenceman ZachBogosian went to the penalty box for holding. The goal was reviewed to see if the puck had fully crossed the line behind Pavelec. Little got his stick on a rebound and sent a backhand shot over a stretched-out Anderson at 16:59 with Senators winger ChrisNeil off for interference. But the tie was short-lived as Cowens goal came 38 seconds later off a shot from the point. Winnipeg had a two-man advantage for 70 seconds in the period, but couldnt capitalize. Gryba scored 2:03 into the second period during a play that had Jets defenceman MarkStuart sliding into Pavelec, sending him rolling at the side of the net. Winnipeg regrouped and EvanderKane won a faceoff and sent it back to Enstrom, who blasted a shot past Anderson at 4:15 while Ottawas Cowen was off for slashing. Turris and then Hoffman scored to make it 5-2 and Pavelec went to the bench. Byfuglien scored unassisted with a slapshot 2:13 into the third period for his 14th goal of the season. He said the team has got move on from the loss. "Couple of tough bounces," Byfuglien said. "Pavs been doing everything to keep us in every game." Ottawa was 2 for 4 on the power play and the Jets were 2 for 7. Winnipeg travels to Colorado for a game Monday and then hosts Vancouver on Wednesday. The Senators host Nashville on Monday. Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema scored two goals each Wednesday night in a 6-1 rout of Schalke in the first leg of their second-round matchup. "We played a very, very good match," Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said. "We got well into the match, scored two early goals and that opened the game and left us able to counter and to use the speed of our players. FRENCH LICK, Ind. -- Lorie Kane shot a 2-under 70 in tricky wind conditions Saturday for a share of the lead with Laurie Rinker in the Legends Championship. Rinker had a 73 to match Kane at 3-under 141 with one round left in the Legends Tour event at French Lick Resorts Pete Dye Course. Val Skinner was a shot back after a 70. "The golf course played very tough," said Kane, coming off a playoff loss to Rosie Jones two weeks ago in Maine in the Harris Golf Charity Classic. "At this day and age in my career Im just happy for being able to compete with the greaat legends of this game. Dan Bailey Jersey. " Rinker turned 51 on Saturday. "But I feel a couple years older after that round," she said. Skinner made a 25-foot birdie putt on No. 17 and closed with another birdie. "Youve got to get control of your ball," Skinner said. "Its in great shape and a nice walk out there, but I said Petes name a few times. It was tough, a very challenging golf course." First-round leader Dina Ammaccapane followed her opening 66 with an 81. The winner will receive $75,000 in the $500,000 tournament. wholesale jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' '

CALGARY -- A tumultuous day for the Calgary Flames off the ice Thursday had a happy ending thanks to ChrisButler. cheap jerseys from china . Butlers second goal of the year with four seconds left in overtime gave Calgary a 2-1 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes. PaulByron entered the Carolina zone then curled back towards the blue-line before sending a pass across to Butler, who flung a 50-foot wrist shot past a partially screened JustinPeters. "Paul did a great job, having great patience hanging onto the puck and I just tried to be available there and really just throw a muffin on net," said Butler. Peters said when MikaelBacklund crossed in front of him, he lost track of the puck. "Just a mental lapse on my part. He went right through the line of the puck. Ive got to do a better job of fighting to find it earlier, especially with that much time left," said Peters. It was an eventful day in Calgary. In the morning, president of hockey operations Brian Burke announced the firing of general manager Jay Feaster and assistant GM John Weisbrod. "It was a tough morning. Obviously its pretty surprising when Burkie comes down to the locker-room and delivers that type of news," said Butler. "Jay has been such a good guy to all of us here. Its tough to see a guy like that let go. Hes pretty responsible for bringing a lot of guys in. We certainly wish him the best and it was nice to get a win today." A key play in the game came with 5:25 remaining in the third period when Carolinas JeffSkinner, who had just scored to tie the game, was awarded a penalty shot after being hooked on a breakaway by LadislavSmid. Skinner tried to go five-hole again just like he did on his goal but this time was denied by KarriRamo. "Looking back, I would have done something different," Skinner said. "I tried to open him up but he didnt really bite on my fake. I probably shouldnt have forced it in there." It was one of 29 saves on the night for Ramo, who improved to 5-5-1. "Just trying to make the save, be big, and not give him very much to shoot at. I wanted to give a chance for our guys to win," Ramo said. BrianMcGrattan, who scored the only goal of the opening 40 minutes, said that save was the difference. "That was huge. That probably won us the game right there. We came out after that save was made and we were flying. You need saves like that to win games," said McGrattan. Calgary (12-15-4) now heads out on a five-game Eastern road swing that begins Saturday in Buffalo. Carolina (13-13-7) will look for its first win when it wraps up a four-game road trip in Phoenix on Saturday. "A sour end to a great effort by our team, thats for sure," said Peters, who falls to 6-8-2. "We played a solid game, came out strong in the third, took the play to them a lot." The Flames took a 1-0 lead to the third period, but for the third game in a row couldnt hold it with Skinner tying the game for Carolina at 11:10 on a 30-foot wrist shot that trickled through Ramos pads. "We had chances, we just didnt capitalize and it came back to bite us," said Carolina coach KirkMuller. "I thought it was going to be a low scoring game, tight. I was happy the way we stuck with it tonight." Throughout the mornings press conference, Burke alluded to the Flames as being too small, not tough enough and needing to play more hostile, or truculent as he likes to describe it. Appropriately, it was the Flames most physical player, McGrattan, who opened the scoring at 17:49 the first period after some hard work by linemates Byron and LanceBouma. "In a tight game, coach showing confidence in us throwing us out more and more and more. I think if we do the things we did in that shift, game in and game out, hell have the confidence to play us more," said McGrattan, whose goal was his first in 30 games dating back to last season. McGrattan complimented the way the team played after the days events. "We reacted the right way. A lot of things in the game that are out of your control," he said. "You can only control the things that you do and thats how hard you work and how good your attitude is. I think we regrouped today and got a big win." Both teams welcomed back veteran forwards to their lineup. For the Flames, CurtisGlencross (knee) returned after missing 15 games and TJ Galiardi (back) drew back in after being sidelined for eight games. Carolina got AlexanderSemin (concussion) back after he missed 12 games. Notes: The Hurricanes lost rookie EliasLindholm early in the first period when he was hit hard into the sideboards by MarkGiordano. He will be re-evaluated on Friday. ... Galiardi has gone 21 games without a goal. ... Carolina RW PatrickDwyer played his 300th NHL game. Backlund played in NHL game No. 200. ... The Flames improve to 7-4-2 with Giordano in the line-up. ... In its last eight home games, Calgary has given up a total of five goals over the first two periods and 14 in the third period and overtime. wholesale jerseys . Manager John Gibbons wasnt taking the bait on Friday afternoon following his clubs 3-1 defeat at the hands of the Red Sox. "When we put the team together, well announce it at the end," said Gibbons. "Nice try, though." Pressed further, Gibbons was only slightly more willing to share what everyone believes hes thinking about his 23-year-old right-hander. cheap jerseys . Atlanta RHP GavinFloyd will make his season debut when he starts Tuesday against LHP TylerLyons (0-2) of the Cardinals. Floyd is coming back from Tommy John surgery and will start in place of ErvinSantana, who has a bruised right thumb. cheap jerseys from china . The judges scored it 49-46, 49-46, 50-45 for Kennedy. Wrestling proved to be the difference with Kennedy taking Bisping down in the first, third and fifth rounds and keeping him there. The crowd at the Colisee Pepsi didnt like it and neither did Bisping, whose game is built on movement and technical striking. cheap nfl jerseys china . -- Minnesota Vikings wide receiver PercyHarvin will have minor shoulder surgery soon to address a nagging injury he played with last season.DUBAI, United Arab Emirates -- Top-ranked Serena Williams had little trouble joining sister Venus, in the Dubai Championships semifinals on Thursday. Williams will play Alize Cornet of France in the semmifinals. wholesale jerseys. Cornet scored a 7-5, 6-3 win over Carla Suarez Navarro of Spain. Venus Williams reached her fourth Dubai semifinal with a 6-3, 7-5 win over qualifier Flavia Pennetta of Italy. Williams, who won this title in 2009 and 2010, had to serve for the match twice in the second set. "She just keeps fighting," Williams said of Pennetta. "She stays relevant. "I felt like I served well and I put the pressure on her and played the way I wanted to play today." Although not guaranteed, Venus Williams wasnt opposed to thinking ahead to the possibility of an all-Williams final on Saturday. "It would be fantastic," Venus said. "But we both have to get there." wholesale jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' '

6am Bar ClosingsYour partner just left you for your best friend and took the cat. cheap nfl jerseys . You lost your job. Your folks are getting a divorce. You drive a 93 Hyundai Elantra. You like Coldplays new album. Life could not get much worse. This is what it feels like when your teams season ends prematurely. This is how we feel in Montreal, and our new Mayor, Denis Coderre, has pushed through legislation that will allow some bars to call last call at 5:45am. Bars will close at 6am. Corderre wanted David Desharnais benched or traded or lynched in November, so Im not sure why hes allowed to make laws, but either way three extra hours of drinking do not bode well for a city of broken hearts already adept at drowning its sorrows until the wee hours.Reliving the PastIn the quiet aftermath of a series lost, one can be driven to madness through contemplation and consideration of responsibility and complicity. Im not talking about the players, or management, or coaching staff. Im talking about each fan, individually, wrapped in the curious superstitions of sport; adults who believe their habits and regiments supernaturally affect those of their team. For example, during game two of the Bruins-Habs series I had a cocktail with a woman who has no interest in hockey but may have interest in me. Did my shunning of the 1st period adversely affect the balance of the Habs universe? The other day, in anticipation of seeing my mother, I very discreetly and almost unnoticeably trimmed my beard. Did I bring on some bad juju? Ive watched the last two games on CBC. Had I watched RDS, would Price be okay? Would the Habs be up two games? Would Henrik Lundqvist be mortal? Well never knowNo Nos AmoursAt no time is it more apparent that the Expos are gone than right after the Habs disappoint. And this summer, the cut runs a little deeper, a little more steeped in vinegar and salt, after a weekend in April of Expos nostalgia and games at the Big O. Sure it was just the Blue Jays and Mets, but it was as close to Major League Baseball as weve seen on the Island of Montreal in a decade. The tricolore hats were everywhere, and not just on Brooklynites in town for Osheaga. Larry Walker, Marquis Grissom, Felipe Alou, and the 94 team spent the weekend. We were reminded of what once was, and for a moment gleaned hope that it could be again. But then the playoffs started, and we forgot all about it. Now on the precipice of an abrupt end to the postseason, what are we to do? Cheer for the Blue Jays? That kind of talk will get you kicked out of the bar at 4:45.TouristsTheres a brief respite in the Montreal calendar in May and June. Its right after the students have left to their parents basements in Mississauga, a convoy of minivans heading west, Ikea skeletons ominously freckling the McGill ghetto, and the arrival of tourists. Its a peaceful time. A time for quiet contemplation, for being able to find a seat at Starbucks, for going through alleys looking for a new couch. But then the tourists settle in. Unwanted aliens in your favourite haunts, fratish bachelor party weekends, and F1 fans, who make Bruins fans look quaint. That late spring void is best when filled with Habs reverie, double overtimes, Boston-hate, and large crowds in early evening bars yelling at Glenn Healy. We had that for a while this spring. Not long enough.ResponsibilityEverything is forgotten during a Habs playoff run. Debts are excused. Infidelities are forgiven. Commitments are eschewed. As Montrealers we are focused on the mirth and minutiae of Les Glorieux. We live in the echoing resonance of Ginette Renos final notes. We are oblivious to all else. But, in the absence of that distraction, we are left to tend to the discard and detritus that is our lives. Have I filed my taxes? How long has that stain been on my pants? Have I paid my rent? Did Aunt Wreatha pass away? Are these evenmy pants? Was it Mothers Day recently? When the last time I showered? Did laundry? Ate a vegetable? The humbling truth of reality sets in, and it can be early August before weve trimmed our playoff beards, made amends for our indiscretions, and recovered from our revelry.Im still hopeful for a miracle. AsBarDowns Twitter feed noted, I am a glass half-full type of guy. Game three in New York could very well be where a legend is born, where a Humboldt, Saskatchewan native becomes this generations Ken Dryden, or Steve Penney, or Patrick Roy. And maybe Carey Prices knee recovers, and all of this worry, this fretting over what might have been returns to the hope of what just might be. And maybe spring stretches out a few more weeks. Until then there is only Dustin Tokarski and prayer. Or Peter Budaj. Frankly, I dont care who it is as long as they hold off summer just a little bit longer. nfl jerseys china . And he thinks its "irresponsible" for the Buffalo Sabres to suggest otherwise. The NHLs new sheriff reacted strongly to complaints from the Sabres on Monday after he elected not to suspend Bruins forward MilanLucic for his collision with Buffalos RyanMiller.cheap jerseys . The solutions? Not so much. Given an extra week to stew over the worst start in 45 years, Tomlin is tweaking the lineup hoping to find a spark that will help his team begin the long road back to respectability. CHICAGO -- The Chicago Blackhawks helped their coach reach another milestone by putting forth the kind of buttoned-down, hard-nosed effort Joel Quenneville admires. But it came with quite a price -- an injury to leading scorer PatrickKane that is expected to sideline the star forward for about three weeks. CoreyCrawford stopped 23 shots for his second shutout this season, backstopping the Blackhawks to a physical 4-0 victory over the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday night that gave Quenneville his 700th NHL win. "Ill take any kind of win, but I certainly liked everything about how we went about tonights game," Quenneville said. "It was a real solid team victory for us, something weve been trying to do against these guys all year." It was a costly victory, though. Kane left the game at 7:56 of the second period, favouring his left leg as he headed to the dressing room following a collision with BrendenMorrow. Kane is expected to miss about three weeks with a lower-body injury, Quenneville said. "Hes a special player," Quenneville said. "Well work our way through this. Its a huge loss for us." DuncanKeith, AndrewShaw, MarcusKruger and BenSmith scored as Chicago ended the league-leading Blues nine-game point streak (8-0-1) and dealt St. Louis its first regulation loss against a Central Division opponent this season. The Blues entered 20-0-2 against division foes and hadnt lost in regulation since a 1-0 defeat at Anaheim on Feb. 28. Quenneville, who previously guided St. Louis and Colorado, has the most wins of any active NHL coach and ranks third all-time behind Al Arbour and Scotty Bowman, now the Blackhawks senior adviser of hockey operations. Crawford earned his 10th career shutout in Chicagos first win against the Blues this season after three losses. After St. Louis set the tone early, the Blackhawks regrouped, pushed back and took charge for the remainder of the game. "Tonight we knew was going to be a tough matchup," Crawford said. "It was physical -- it seems like its always physical against these guys. It felt like a playoff atmosphere." Kane, who has 29 goals and 40 assists, set up Keiths oppening goal. wholesale jerseys. His loss tempered one of Chicagos biggest victories this season. "He brings so many things to the table offensively for us," Keith said. "When you have a guy like that out with an injury, you have to look at the positives from it." St. Louis goalie RyanMiller lost in regulation for the first time since joining the Blues following a trade from Buffalo on Feb. 28. Miller, now 7-1-1 with St. Louis, was replaced by BrianElliott at 7:58 of the third period after allowing four goals on 27 shots. "We let him out to dry," Blues captain DavidBackes said. "We could have had three goalies in there on some of them. We just didnt play well in front of him." St. Louis needs one win to clinch a playoff spot for the 38th time in franchise history. But on Wednesday, the Blues got shut down after a solid start. "The first 10 minutes we were really good," coach Ken Hitchcock said. "Then they dialed it up and we started reacting and they took it to us. A good wake-up call." The win moved Chicago one point ahead of Colorado for second in the Central Division and fourth in the Western Conference. The Blackhawks have struggled this season against their top rivals in the Central. Chicago entered Wednesdays game with only one win and five points in eight games against St. Louis and Colorado. Keith scored the only goal in a physical first period on a power play with 58 seconds left. The play got tighter and grittier in the second, and Chicago took a 2-0 lead thanks to Shaws goal on a deflection with 4:25 left in the period. Kruger and Smith scored 2:15 apart in the third period to ice it for Chicago. Notes: Blackhawks C MichalHandzus played in his 1,000th NHL game and was honoured in a pregame ceremony. ... St. Louis RW VladimirTarasenko underwent surgery for a right hand injury sustained last Saturday at Nashville in the final minute of the game. He will be re-evaluated in six weeks. ... Blues RW T.J.Oshie returned to the lineup after missing one game for the birth of his first child. ... Chicago LW BrandonSaad sat out his second game with an upper-body injury and is day to day. wholesale jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' '

Hospitality Dealers have been affected by the recent financial downturn as much as the next business sector. The question is "how do they persist"?

Industry study suggests that a significant quantity of business has shifted from five star extra establishments and hotel chains to three and four star creations. As businesses tighten their finances they are sending their employees to stay at three and four star formations as apposed extra 5 star. This shift should signify an increase in request for hotel supplies by the slighter establishments. Now obviously minor hotels etc. are not going to have the same size of budget as large hotel chains and five star formations for their guest amenities so some change is required.

This also means that welcome suppliers supply mainly luxury guest amenities at treat prices have not got access to the same level of claim as they had in times gone by. The solution to this tricky is to meet the demand where it falls and these incomes hospitality suppliers need to offer budget prices and crops.

This does not foul that hospitality suppliers have to compromise meaningfully in excellence of goods, it simply means that less of a focus should be put on treat and decadence and more of an attention on offering value for money. Additional thing that goes out of the window with luxury is choice. Over this does not mean that there should be no excellent whatsoever, it means that there should be a limited optimal which offers a variety of goods from mid-range to little inexpensive.

Hospitality dealers can do this by discontinuing lines of standard that are pricey and not big retailers while at the same time exploring original ranges of toiletries that plea to their now budget conscious clients. Other ideas contain offering lesser amounts of fluid etc. For example where a hotel dealer may have previously obtainable 35 ml tubes of shower gel, they could currently offer 25 ml tubes. Let's face it if an invitee is provided with something for free, they are highly likely to use it foes it's free. If you gave a caller 150 ml of shower gel, you can bet that at smallest 80% of them would truly use it all, even though that much is not really needed. A nice knock on effect of this is that there is less of an ecological impact.

To summarize, what is wanted for hotel suppliers to persist the economic downturn is some common sense, the information to make some serious choices and good knowledge for the request that the market provides. Recall, it's all about source and demand.

Seattle, WA (SportsNetwork. wholesale nfl jerseys .com) - Clint Dempsey made a triumphant return to Seattle on Sunday as he scored in the 71st minute to help the Sounders to a 2-0 win over the Portland Timbers at CenturyLink Field. Dempsey spent the past month in Brazil with the United States national team at the World Cup, but in his first game back, it was his second-half goal that separated the Cascadia Cup rivals before Marco Pappa added an insurance tally four minutes from time for the hosts. Seattle has now won four of its last five games to move 10 points clear at the top of the Western Conference. The match was an extremely cautious affair in the opening 45 minutes as the two sides combined to put just one shot on target. But things came to life after the break as Portland goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts needed to be alert to keep out a chance from Gonzalo Pineda in the opening minute of the half. Dempsey nearly turned home a header from Zach Scott at close range in the 59th, but he made no mistake with his next chance. Ricketts produced a fine double save to first deny Dempsey and then Obafemi Martins in front of goal. However, Portland was unable to clear the ball and Pineda drove a shot toward the net that Dempsey was able to redirect home. Lamar Neagle nearly added another goal for the Sounders when he struck the post in the 82nd minute, while the Timbers came within inches of an equalizer in the 85th as Gaston Fernandez unleashed a long-range shot that clipped the outside of the upright with Seattle goalkeeper Stefan Frei easily beaten. One minute later, Seattle put the game away as Neagle led a counter-attack that saw him square the ball to Pappa inside the area for a left-footed finish. nfl jerseys china . The thunderous cheers quickly changed to an appreciative chant: "Ma-son! Ma-son! Ma-son! Headed to New York with new life, Mason sure earned this curtain call. jerseys from china . Nadal is often tested by the 24th-ranked Gulbis but has yet to lose a match to the Latvian in seven played. This match, which was delayed for two hours by rain, marked only the second time Nadal has beaten Gulbis in straight sets. The other time was also in Doha, in the 2011 quarterfinals. Nadal is set to play German qualifier Peter Gojowczyk. The 162nd-ranked Gojowczyk defeated fellow German qualifier Dustin Brown 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (5) to reach his first career tour semifinal. The other semi will pit Florian Mayer of Germany against Gael Monfils of France. Mayer defeated Victor Hanescu of Romania 6-4, 6-7 (8), 6-4, and Monfils took out Daniel Brands of Germany 6-2, 6-1. Nadal finally broke Gulbis in the 11th game when the latter sent a drop shot wide. Nadal needed five set points to close ouut the first set in the next game. cheap jerseys. Gulbis raced to 3-0 in the second set but couldnt hold on to the advantage. He had three points for 4-1 but ended up losing serve. Nadal broke with a stunning backhand cross-court that creased the line in the seventh game to take a permanent lead. He closed the match with a breathtaking backhand volley winner. "Im happy to win against Ernests," Nadal said. "If you are not playing well its very, very difficult. Hes able to hit winners from every part on the court." Before this week, Gojowczyk had only one ATP tour-level match win, at the 2013 U.S. Open. Gojowczyk was serving for the match against Brown at 5-3, 40-30 in the third set but netted a forehand to drop his serve. From 5-5 in the tiebreaker, Gojowczyk won the final two points. CLEVELAND -- JoshTomlin couldnt recall the last time he won in the major leagues. White Knile Davis Mens Game Jersey Nike NFL Road Kansas City Chiefs . Hes sure to remember his victory Tuesday night. Clevelands right-hander earned his first win since 2012 after he pitched into the seventh in the Indians 4-2 win over the Minnesota Twins. "This one, thats what I remember," he said after allowing one run and four hits in 6 2-3 innings. Tomlin hadnt won since July 5, 2012, when he defeated Tampa Bay. He had Tommy John surgery the following month and missed most of last year while recovering. Called up from Triple-A Columbus before the game, he admitted to feeling some nerves as he took the mound. "I definitely had some anxiety going before the game, but a good anxiety," Tomlin said. "It was the same anxiety Ive gotten in years past." Tomlin (1-0) struck out four and walked one. The right-hander took a two-hit shutout into the seventh before ChrisColabello homered. Tomlin left after a single and a foul out, and received an ovation from the crowd of 9,621. Tomlin threw 93 pitches. Tomlin learned to take nothing for granted as he went through the yearlong process following surgery. "Theres been a couple of guys around the league who had to have a second one before they got back out there," he said. "Thats always in the back of your mind. To be able to not have any reservations about the elbow was pretty special." Indians manager Terry Francona had some simple advice for Tomlin before the game. "I said, Hey man, enjoy the hell out of this," Francona said. BryanShaw pitched the ninth for his first save. EduardoEscobars two-out double cut the lead to two, but pinch-hitter JosmilPinto popped out. SamuelDeduno (0-2) allowed four runs in five innings in his first start of the season. Deduno replaced MikePelfrey in the Twins rotation. Pelfrey was ineffective in five starts before going on the disabled list with a groin injury. Deduno had shoulder surgery in September and made seven relief appearances to begin this season. The Indians scored twice in the first on an RBI single by MichaelBrantley and a fielding error by Colabello at first base. YanGomes RBI double and NickSwishers run-scoring single in the second made it 4-0. Tomlin pitched with a sore right elbow for most of the 2012 season. His last start in the majors came on July 27, when he allowed eight runs in four innings in an 11-0 loss to the Twins. He made one relief appearance with the Indians last year, pitching two scoreless innings in September. Tomlin pitched well in spring training, but was sent to Columbus in the teams final cuts. He was 2-1 in five starts and had pitched 20 consecutive innings when he was recalled. Tomlin was called up after CarlosCarrasco went 0-3 in four starts. "Their guy was real good," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. "Give credit to him." Twins star JoeMauer missed his second straight game because of lower back spasms. The six-time All-Star said following the game that he wont play Wednesday, but hopes to resume light baseball activities. Indians centre fielder and leadoff hitter MichaelBourn was out of the lineup for the third straight game with a tight left hamstring, but is optimistic hell be able to play again in a couple of days. NOTES: Indians closer JohnAxford, who allowed game-winning home runs Sunday and Monday, was given the night off after pitching three straight days. Francona still has confidence in the right-hander. "Hes our closer," Francona said. "When you start running from guys as opposed to trying to get them back to where they need to be, that can be unsettling for a team." ... Celta should have come away with more from the high tempo game.NEW YORK -- JasonCollins started walking from the bench to the scorers table, fans rising out of their seats all around Barclays Center. He committed a foul five seconds after entering. His only shot barely hit the rim. Collins performance may not have been pretty, but everything else was great. Collins played the final minutes of a winning home debut with the Brooklyn Nets, who cooled off the Chicago Bulls with a 96-80 victory Monday night. "It was cool. It was a lot of fun to go into the game," Collins said. "The most important thing was that we got the win. Chicagos been playing really well as of late and for us to come out and really be -- I think we played more physical than they did tonight." Finally playing at home more than a week after returning to the NBA as the leagues first openly gay player, Collins checked in to a standing ovation from a sellout crowd of 17,732 that included former NBA Commissioner David Stern with 2:41 remaining. He grabbed a rebound and had one of the Nets NBA season high-tying 19 steals in their third straight victory. DeronWilliams scored 20 points and JoeJohnson had 19 for the Nets (29-29), who got back to .500 for the first time since they were 2-2 after beating Utah on Nov. 5. D.J.Augustin scored 16 points off the bench for the sloppy Bulls, who turned it over 28 times, leading to 30 Nets points, and had their four-game winning streak snapped. The Bulls had a franchise-low three turnovers in their 109-90 victory over the New York Knicks on Sunday and had won nine of 10. But the Nets were too good in this one, building a series of comfortable leads and making the only intrigue down the stretch whether Collins would get in during his first home appearance for the Nets since Jan. 29, 2008, against Milwaukee in East Rutherford, N.J. A chant of "JasonCollins! JasonCollins!" broke out while Williams was shooting a free throw with the Nets leading 90-73 with 3:27 remaining. Fans finally got their wish less than a minute later -- though not because coach JasonKidd was listening to them. "No, the game was out of hand, so I wanted to get those guys some rest," he said. "D-Will was shooting free throws. Couldnt put Twin in at that time, so I told him after the free throws that he would come in." Collins original 10-day contrract will expire Tuesday and the Nets plan to sign him to a second deal on Wednesday. Elite Jamaal Charles Lights Out Black Jersey Chiefs Autographed Nike Mens. A Nets player from 2001-08, he has appeared in all five games since he signed on Feb. 23. PaulPierce and ShaunLivingston each scored 14 points for the Nets, who were without starting centre KevinGarnett for a second straight game because of back spasms. "Mentally, the Bulls have really had our numbers," Pierce said. "To be honest, if I was them Id feel like when they come play the Nets, they feel like they could beat us every time. I think the guys really had pride tonight to say, You know were tired of getting pushed around by the Bulls." JoakimNoah managed just 10 points, six rebounds and one assist for the Bulls, a day after finishing with 13 points, 14 assists and 12 rebounds in his fifth career triple-double. The All-Star centre rolled his right ankle early in the second half of that game and said it hurt after the game, but he was determined to play Monday in his hometown. The Bulls had dominated the first two meetings and beaten the Nets four straight times, but Brooklyn controlled this one most of the way in improving to 12-2 at home since Chicagos rout here on Christmas Day. "We smashed them in the mouth twice, its never going to be easy to come in to tough-minded team and do it again," Bulls forward TajGibson said. The Nets scored the first eight points, the last one on Williams free throw after Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau screamed his way to a technical foul after calling time. Their lead grew to 15, but the Bulls trimmed it to 27-18 by the end of the first quarter. Brooklyn led 50-42 at halftime, and Chicago started the second half just as bad as the first. The Nets scored the first seven to take a 57-42 lead when Williams set up MasonPlumlee for a dunk. "I think we had all intentions to play hard, but like I say, it didnt show," Augustin said. "Being down early, you cant come start the game down, you cant start the second half down, so that was our big mistakes, and then the turnovers killed us." NOTES: The Nets 19 steals were their most since finishing with 20 against Indiana on March 21, 1989. ... Brooklyn hadnt scored more than 23 points in a period against Chicago this season and surpassed that in both the first (27) and third (26). wholesale jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' '

BALTIMORE -- JakeArrieta walked to the mound with one purpose: to let everyone know the Baltimore Orioles arent as bad as advertised. Red/Gold Fadeaway Derrick Johnson Kansas City Chiefs Jersey Elite . Arrieta pitched seven scoreless innings, NickMarkakis homered and drove in three runs, and the Orioles marked the 20th anniversary of the opening of Camden Yards by defeating the Minnesota Twins 4-2 Friday. Baltimore has suffered through 14 straight losing seasons and is the popular choice to finish in the cellar of the AL East. On this day, however, the Orioles and Arrieta outshined Minnesota and veteran pitcher CarlPavano. "My mindset was to just really set the tone for our team in front of a great crowd," Arrieta said. "There were a lot of excited fans for a new season, so it was important to come out and set the tone the way we did. As a whole, we take it personal that most people write us off from the get-go. We made a statement today: Weve got a lot to play for this year." Making his first opening day start, Arrieta (1-0) allowed two hits, struck out four and walked two in a 97-pitch performance reminiscent of the gem that Rick Sutcliffe tossed against the Cleveland Indians in the ballparks first opener. Sutcliffe, who threw out the ceremonial first pitch Friday, christened Camden Yards by pitching a five-hit shutout on April 6, 1992. The only two hits against Arrieta came in the fourth. The right-hander didnt make it the distance, but that didnt detract from what he accomplished in his first start since elbow surgery ended his season last August. "I wanted to be ready for this day," Arrieta said. "And being able to be on the mound today at 100 per cent makes it all worth it." Baltimore newcomer MattLindstrom gave up two hits in the eighth and TroyPatton yielded a two-run homer to JoshWillingham in the ninth. JimJohnson then got two outs -- the last one with runners on the corners -- for the save. Markakis hit a two-run homer in the first inning and added an RBI triple in the sixth. He also walked and scored twice, but he acknowledged that the key player in the win was Arrieta. "When you have a guy like Jake on the mound and he throws the way he did today, just score some runs for him," Markakis said. "He set the tone. It starts with pitching." Pavano (0-1) allowed four runs and five hits over seven innings in his third career opening day start. He issued two walks, and both were costly. "It is not the way you wanted to start the season, not individually or as a team," Pavano said. "You have to tip your hats to them -- they took advantage of what was given them. I walked two guys and they both scored." Minnesota opened last season with a 13-3 loss to Toronto and ended up finishing in last place. Pavano took the loss in that one, too. This game, at least, was much closer. "We made a run at them. We gave ourselves a shot," manager Ron Gardenhire said. "Willy hit the big home run and we found ourselves out there in another situation where with another big hit, who knows what happens?" Although the Orioles have fallen upon hard times since Camden Yards opened, the folksy, old-fashioned ballpark that stands in the shadow of the B&O Warehouse has undergone only a few cosmetic changes over the past 20 years. Camden Yards used to attract a sellout crowd for every game. That is no longer the case, but on this day 46,773 fans packed the stadium under a clear sky on a chilly afternoon. Soon after Sutcliffe casually tossed a strike on the outside corner to former battery mate Chris Hoiles, Arrieta began the Orioles season with a first-pitch strike to DenardSpan. The Twins didnt get their first hit until Span beat out a grounder leading off the fourth. JustinMorneau then singled with two outs before Willingham lined out to left. Markakis put Baltimore up 2-0 in the first with an opposite-field drive to left after J.J.Hardy drew a one-out walk. Pavano retired the next eight batters before Markakis drew a leadoff walk in the fourth. AdamJones followed with a double and MattWieters hit a run-scoring grounder for a 3-0 lead. In the sixth, Hardy led off with a single and Markakis hit a liner to right that RyanDoumit failed to grab near the wall while looking into the sun. NOTES: Markakis is the first Oriole to homer in his initial at-bat on opening day since LuisMatos in 2005. ... It was the third straight year the Twins opened the season on the road. ... The Broncos placed Harris on IR after he tore his left ACL in Denvers 24-17 win over San Diego last weekend. Cole was released Dec. 26 by the New England Patriots (13-4), whom the Broncos (14-3) host Sunday in the AFC championship. A fifth-year pro with 64 games of experience, including two starts, Cole had 10 tackles, one interception and three pass breakups for New England this season. Harris is the fifth Broncos starter lost for the season, joining VonMiller, RahimMoore, KevinVickerson and Wolfe. A versatile cornerback adept at playing on either side or in the slot, Harris might just prove the toughest of Denvers injured defenders to replace, especially going against TomBrady, who has a 10-4 career record against PeytonMannings teams. Harris took to Twitter after an MRI on Monday revealed a tornn ACL that will require surgery and at least six months of recovery and rehab and said, "Blessed to be able to help the team get this Far, and will still do my part in meeting room to help my guys out. ATLANTA -- Officials have approved the design and a preliminary $1. Gaylord Perry Giants Jersey .2 billion budget for a new Atlanta Falcons stadium. The Georgia World Congress Center Authority board of governors on Tuesday unanimously approved the complete schematic design and the budget, which is up $200 million from the previous estimate. The design was recently completed by an architecture firm. The design team had presented a conceptual design earlier this year, but officials say the new version includes more details. Board chairman Tim Lowe told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the extra $200 million included in the budget will be covered by the Falcons. Bonds backed by the citys hotel-motel tax are set to cover $200 million of the stadiums cost, while the rest is to be covered by the team, the NFL and personal seat license sales. NEW YORK -- Two people with knowledge of the plans say the lead negotiators for the NBA owners and players will meet Wednesday for just the second time since the lockout began. The sides last met Aug. 1, exactly one month after the lockout was imposed. Stern was disappointed by the players position and has said there must be progress by Labor Day. NASHVILLE -- The Nashville Predators have swapped defencemen with the New York Rangers, sending right-handed shooter KevinKlein to New York in exchange for a lefty in MichaelDelZotto. The Predators announced the trade Wednesday before heading to Vancouver for a four-game road swing. "Michael gives us another young, gifted left-handed shooting defenceman with significant offensive upside," Predators general manager David Poile Poile said in a statement. "We look forward to his presence on our already talented young blue line, further balancing our defensive corps." Del Zotto, 23, has 11 points in 42 games for the Rangers averaging 17 minutes, 44 seconds of ice time per game. The 6-foot, 195-pound Del Zotto was the 20th overall choice by the Rangers in the 2008 draft, and he has 121 career points in 292 career NHL games.
