ATLANTA -- EricYoung Jr. cheap jerseys from china . is proving hes an important part of the Mets winning formula. Thats especially important with New Yorks outfield about to become more crowded. Young got three hits, stole three bases and scored four times as the Mets overcame JustinUptons two home runs to beat the Atlanta Braves 6-4 on Thursday night. Young stole five bases in the series as the Mets won two of three from Atlanta. "Hes such a great kid, you root for him all the time, and tonight he showed you he can win games for you," manager Terry Collins said. Young has joined CurtisGranderson and JuanLagares in the Mets outfield. ChrisYoung could be moving closer to making his return from the disabled list with a right quadriceps injury. Soon Collins could face difficult decisions in the outfield. "No question about it," Collins said, adding that EricYoung "makes things happen." "We saw it tonight," Collins said. "The guy creates runs." "We talked about it all spring and all winter, what EricYoung brings to the table. When he gets on base he scores runs. He showed it again tonight." Young had two steals in the Mets 4-0 win on Tuesday night. "Anytime you do your job at the top of the lineup, especially with a couple of guys behind me driving me in, its a lot of fun," Young said. The Mets broke a 4-all tie in the seventh. LuisAvilan (1-1) gave up a leadoff single to DanielMurphy, who scored on a two-out single by JuanLagares off GusSchlosser. Murphy drove in three runs with three hits. CarlosTorres (2-0) allowed only one hit in two scoreless innings. JoseValverde pitched a perfect ninth for his second save. Led by Young, the Mets stole five bases, their highest total since May 28, 2011, against Philadelphia. Young also used his speed to lead off a two-run third inning with a bunt single. "Young scored four runs by himself," said Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez, who added, "that pretty much beat us." Upton drove in three runs with three hits. He had no homers before his breakout game. He hit an opposite-field homer in the second inning before his long two-run blast to left field in the third. "Tonight I was just comfortable," Upton said. "The only thing I can do is try to take that same exact feel to tomorrow night and the next day and try to make something of it." Older brother B.J.Upton hit a triple after receiving pregame batting tips from former Braves star ChipperJones. JustinUptons second homer gave the Braves a 4-3 lead. Mets starter JenrryMejia, obviously frustrated, slapped his mitt and then appeared to throw the glove to the grass. "I just threw my hand up and the glove went out of my hand," he said. Mejia gave up four runs in five innings on six hits and four walks. Atlantas DavidHale also had control problems as he gave up four runs, three earned, in 4 1-3 innings on five hits and five walks. The Mets tied the game in the fifth on a leadoff triple by Young and Murphys single. The Mets loaded the bases on two walks by Hale, but reliever AnthonyVarvaro struck out Lagares and ended the inning on TravisdArnauds groundout. IkeDavis was 0 for 3 with two walks and a RBI in his start at first base. Collins said LucasDuda, who had a pinch-hit single in the eighth, is still the starter. Braves shortstop AndreltonSimmons was held out with a jammed right wrist. He said he hurt the wrist in a home-plate collision in Wednesday nights game. He is day to day. RamiroPena, making his first start of the season, replaced Simmons and had one hit. NOTES: Former President Jimmy Carter and his wife, Rosalynn, sat near the Braves dugout. ... Hale is Atlantas first starting pitcher to give up more than two runs this season. ... Young was 2 for 2 with two singles in an extended spring game in Port St. Lucie. ... RHP DillonGee will be on the mound when the Mets open a weekend series at the Angels, who will start LHP TylerSkaggs, on Friday night. ... BUFFALO, N. Nike Roshe Run Orange Gray Mens Slip-On Shoes UK .Y. -- Add Buffalo Sabres defenceman ChristianEhrhoff to the list of players the team is considering dealing before the NHLs trade deadline. Ehrhoff revealed Friday that he recently complied with the Sabres request to submit a list of eight teams that would make up the no-trade clause of his contract. He declined to reveal the teams on the list. Though the submission of the list doesnt guarantee Ehrhoff will be dealt before March 5, it suggests he has been the topic of trade conversations. On Tuesday, general manager Tim Murray confirmed hes shopping several players, including goalie RyanMiller, to rebuild the last-place Sabres (17-34-8). Ehrhoff is a 10-year NHL veteran and in his third season with Buffalo after signing a 10-year, $40 million contract on June 30, 2011. Mens Lime Turquoise Nike Roshe Run HYP QS Shoes UK . -- The linebacker with 100 per cent attendance says theres a 99 per cent chance hes done. Womens Fluorescent Green Nike Roshe Run Mesh Shoes UK . 10 San Diego State to a 73-64 win over UNLV on Wednesday night. For the most part, it was a very solid effort by the Winnipeg Jets on Monday as they picked up their first point of the young NHL season in a 2-1 shootout loss in Boston. The part that hurts is the second point was there for the taking. The Jets had a power play to end regulation, a power play that carried into a four-on-three in overtime and then had a full two-minute power play in overtime. As much as the Bruins did a very good job of penalty killing, "the power play never helped us, we had a chance to close out the game, we needed to close out the game on the power play" is how head coach Claude Noel summed it up after the game. The Jets scored first for the second straight game with ChrisThorburn scoring his first of the year 1:58 in. PaulPostma picked up his first NHL point in his sixth NHL game, with JimSlater also drawing an assist. Thorburn put home the rebound off Postmas shot. The Bruins drew even later in the first as the Jets turned it over at their own blue line, leading to BradMarchand notching his first of the year. There was no more scoring until the shootout. Both TuukkaRask and OndrejPavelec were terrific with Pavelec forced to make a few more big saves despite the shots being 27 apiece. "I thought we fought hard and played pretty well," said Pavelec on the TSN Jets post-game interview. "I had a lot of help from the defenceman and the posts. Sometimes you need that luck." The other story line from the afternoon game on Martin Luther King Day was the number of chances both teams had that found nothing but iron. No fewer than eight total chances by both teams resulted in a goal post or cross bar being hit.The game was entertaining and, from a Jets standpoint, a much better played game than we saw in the opener. A wide open first period saw the Bruins outshoot the Jets 12-11, but in the second, both teams tightened things up with only 10 shots on goal total, six by Boston. The third had a bit of everything, including some physical play, some chippy play, and some scoring chances as the Jets outshot the Bruins 12-8. Two of the games best hits were MilanLucic on AndrewLadd and Evander&nnbsp;Kane on BradMarchand. UK Nike Black Flowers Roshe Run Womens Pattern Shoes. Alexandre Burmistrov and ZdenoChara even had something going. The line of OlliJokinen, EvanderKane and KyleWellwood created a number of scoring chances in the first period, including a Wellwood breakaway. Throughout the game, you could see chemistry developing between certain players, with perhaps the line that still looked out of sync being the line that spent most of last year as a unit: BryanLittle with AndrewLadd and BlakeWheeler.Coach Noel did juggle his lines in the third, with NikAntropov moving between Ladd and Wheeler and Little moving to the right side with Kane and Jokinen. "Not playing Wellwood in the third was more about size matchups and pressure on the forecheck than the way he was playing," stated Noel when asked about the change. On the game, Noel felt his team was much better than Saturday and, other than the power play, happy with the road game they played. "So much has been said about our road record, the guys wanted to start this season with a good effort," said Noel. But the power play was still a sore spot. "We needed to create more chances," Noel added. "Players need to realize it was an opportunity to win the game." The Jets power play is now 0-9 after scoring on their first power play of the year, that being the DustinByfuglien goal against Ottawa. In the shootout, TylerSeguin and BlakeWheeler traded goals, PatriceBergeron scored in round two while Rask stopped Jokinen. Pavelec stopped ChrisBourque to extend the shootout, but the game ended when Little rattled one off the post.Byfuglien led all players in ice time at 30:27, with Toby Enstrom right behind at 29:54. Byfuglien and Kane each had four shots on goal to lead the Jets. The Jets are in Washington on Tuesday (TSN National, TSN 1290) for their first of eight back to backs this season. That was another area of concern last year, as in 13 tries in the second game, the Jets managed three of a possible 26 points. "A win to come home with three of a possible four points would be great," concluded Noel. cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

MOORESVILLE, N. Blue Sean Lee Limited Youth Jersey Throwback .C. - Canadas Alex Tagliani will drive for Team Penske in two NASCAR Nationwide Series road course races this season. Tagliani will compete for the team on June 21 at Road America and Aug. 16 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Hell be behind the wheel of the No. 22 Discount Tire Ford that AJ Allmendinger used to win both races last season. "This is a great opportunity to get back in a NASCAR Nationwide Series car and to do it for one of the best teams in the series and one of the greatest owners the sport has ever seen -- Roger Penske," Tagliani said in a release. "Ive been able to run for The Captain one other time in my career in a stock car and we were so close to winning the race. This gives me two great chances to get my first Nationwide Series win. "And with the team winning both of these races last year, I guess you could say the pressure is on me to get the job done this season." Tagliani, from Lachenaie, Que. has competed on several circuits in recent years. He is a former Indianapolis 500 pole winner, capturing the prestigious pole position in 2011. "I have known Alex for a long time and he has driven for our team before, so he was the ideal choice to race the Discount Tire Ford for these upcoming road course events," Penske said. "Alex is a proven winner in both open-wheel and stock car competition. He has competed for wins each of the last two times he has raced in the Nationwide Series, including with Team Penske back in 2011. I think he, (crew chief) Jeremy Bullins and the No. 22 Discount Tire Ford team will be tough to beat at both Road America and Mid-Ohio this season." Black Dez Bryant Limited USA Jersey . - Holden Cook and Kyle Hope combined for seven points as the Owen Sound Attack downed the visiting Barrie Colts 5-1 on Wednesday in Ontario Hockey League action. White Terrance Williams Limited Youth Jersey . Midfielder Michael Bradley, one of the teams new designated players, will make his debut, while striker Gilberto could see his first action for TFC in the contest.BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Buffalo Sabres are moving on without the longtime face of their franchise. And they know the experience will be anything but ordinary. "When a guy like RyanMiller gets traded, thats not a normal player getting traded," interim head coach Ted Nolan said. "He was the face of the organization for a long, long time. To lose a player like him, its tough." Tough, yes, but perhaps good practice for a team that could be offloading several more veterans before Wednesdays trade deadline, as general manager Tim Murray continues efforts to fix the NHLs worst team. Murray traded Miller and captain SteveOtt to St. Louis on Friday. Buffalo acquired goaltender JaroslavHalak, right wing ChrisStewart, prospect WilliamCarrier, a 2015 first-round draft pick and a conditional pick. Its unlikely to end there. ChristianEhrhoff said Friday that he recently complied with the Sabres request to submit a list of eight teams that would make up the no-trade clause of his contract. Soon-to-be unrestricted free agents MattMoulson and HenrikTallinder could also move, and Murray has said contract status doesnt dictate availability. Even Halak or Stewart could be traded. "Theyre pieces that will be Buffalo Sabres when they pass their physicals and after that its the same as everybody else," Murray said. "And what I said, if it makes sense it makes sense. ... If theyre Buffalo Sabres, they play here and were happy with them." The overhaul began under Murrays predecessor, Darcy Regier, who was fired in November. The Sabres traded numerous high-priced veterans last season, including captain JasonPominville. It continued into October, when ThomasVanek was traded to the New York Islanders for Moulson and two high draft picks. The Sabres, as a result, have stockpiled picks. They could have as many as two first-round and three second-round selections in this years draft, with 10 total picks over the first two rounds of the next two drafts. Buffalo also has a solid group of prospeccts in its farm system, including defencemen RasmusRistolainen and NikitaZadorov, who were both drafted in the first round in June. White Emmitt Smith Authentic Throwback Jersey. Murrays objective is to add more draft picks or young prospects, and hes been clear about his intentions to make the team better regardless of cost. "Theres no untouchables," Murray said before the Miller trade. "Its a rebuild." And for the players remaining on the team, its a big opportunity to take a leadership role. In the case of Enroth, its a chance to become a teams No. 1 goaltender for the first time in his career. "If you dont call this a chance, I dont know what a chance is," Enroth said, later adding, "I truly believe I can be a No. 1 guy here." Nolan noticed changes almost immediately after the trade was announced, as Ott and Miller said their goodbyes to teammates. "You could really see it on DrewStaffords face the most," Nolan said Friday. "Him and MattMoulson really took over the leadership tonight with this young group." Stafford is now the longest-tenured Sabre and the only player left from the 2006-07 team that won the Presidents Trophy, though Tallinder left as a free agent before being reacquired this summer. The general managers goals arent lost on the players in the room, and TylerMyers has expressed confidence in the direction of the team in general. "You have to look at what we got, too," Myers said. "I think its good for both sides. Im happy for Ott and Miller." Murray said the timing of the deal was not ideal for his roster, but the 22-year-old MarcusFoligno and other young teammates almost immediately recognized the bittersweet chance to drive the team into the future. "I looked around with (Brian) Flynn and (Zemgus) Girgensons, and we just said we gotta step up," Foligno said. "This is a game where we have to play well and this is something where we lost them and now hopefully were here for the long run and were players that they count on." cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

The Detroit Red Wings can clinch their 23rd straight trip to the playoffs when they visit the Pittsburgh Penguins for Wednesdays battle at Consol Energy Center.Vince Carter Raptors Jersey . Catch the game as part of a doubleheader on TSN2 starting at 8pm et/5pm pt. The Red Wings, who last missed the playoffs in 1990, need to gain just one point from Wednesdays game to qualify for the postseason yet again. With 90 points, Detroit is five ahead of ninth-seeded Washington and six clear of New Jersey. All three teams have three games left in the regular season, and both the Capitals and Devils are idle on Wednesday. The Red Wings also are a point ahead of Columbus for the first of the Eastern Conferences two wild card playoff spots. The Blue Jackets play Wednesday in Dallas. The Red Wings have won five of their last six games to solidify their postseason chances. After dropping the opener of a three-game road trip Saturday in Montreal, Detroit bounced back with Tuesdays 4-2 victory in Buffalo. DarrenHelm, DavidLegwand and PavelDatsyuk scored third-period goals for the Red Wings in the win over the Sabres. BrendanSmith also tallied for Detroit, while JimmyHoward backed up his offense with 25 saves. Detroit head coach Mike Babcock won his 414th game with the franchise, vaulting him over Jack Adams for tops on the all-time list. "The win tonight is way more important than that," Babcock said. Detroit improved to 20-15-4 as the visiting team this season after Tuesdays win. The club will host Carolina in its final home game of the regular season on Friday before completing its schedule Sunday in St. Louis. Pittsburgh is wrapping up the regular season on a three-game homestand that begins tonight. The club already has sealed up the Metropolitan Division title and is locked into the second seed in the East. All that is left for the Penguins is to await the outcome of the other playoff races, which will determine who Pittsburgh hosts in the opening round of the postseason. The Penguins have won four of their last six games and are coming off Sundays 3-2 shootout win in Colorado. Pittsburgh outlasted the Avalanche despite playing without captain SidneyCrosby, fellow forward ChrisKunitz and defensemen OlliMaatta and BrooksOrpik due to various injuries. Pittsburgh could get some of those players back tonight, and the club also will see defenseman KrisLetang make his return to the lineup after suffering a stroke in January. Letang has missed 26 games since last playing on Jan. 27 against Buffalo. The 26-year-old blueliner had been cleared by doctors to resume all physical activities in late March and Pittsburgh general manager Ray Shero said it was up to Letang when he wanted to come back. "Kris was cleared by doctors and it was his choice on when to return," Shero said. "Hes been bugging me for a while to play" Letang had battled injuries this season before suffering the stroke in January, but still has managed to post 10 goals and eight assists in just 34 games this season. He went on blood thinners following the stroke, but was taken off them when he returned to practice last month. Meanwhile, Crosby, Kunitz, Maatta and Orpik all practiced on Tuesday and are questionable for Wednesdays game. Even if all four of those players return tonight, Pittsburgh will still be without several injured players, including forward EvgeniMalkin. BrandonSutter supplied both regulation goals for the Penguins in Sundays win, giving him 13 tallies on the season. JussiJokinen netted the lone shootout goal in the second round, as the Penguins picked up the win at Pepsi Center. Marc-AndreFleury finished with 39 saves to earn the victory. The Pens and Red Wings have split a pair of meetings in 2013-14, but Wednesdays matchup marks the first encounter this season in Pittsburgh. Detroit has fared well recently in the Steel City, going 3-1-1 in the last five encounters at Consol Energy Center. Pittsburgh is 27-9-2 as the host this season. San Jose Sharks at Anaheim Ducks The Anaheim Ducks have a chance to wrap up their second straight Pacific Division title and set a new franchise record on Wednesday night when they host the rival San Jose Sharks. Catch the game as the back end of a doubleheader on TSN2 starting at 10:30pm et/7:30pm pt. The Ducks own a three-point lead over the Sharks for first place in the division with three games left to play for both clubs. Anaheim, though, can clinch the Pacific crown with a victory tonight as they own the current tiebreaker with 10 more non-shootout victories. San Jose missed a chance to grab first place in the standings as it lost 3-0 to the Nashville Predators on Saturday. The setback didnt appear costly the following day as Anaheim lost a 4-2 decision in Edmonton, but the Ducks capitalized on their other game in hand by defeating the Vancouver Canucks 3-0 on Monday. "On paper, it sounds really good," said Anaheim coach Bruce Boudreau on Monday of clinching. "But the fact we play San Jose the next game, L.A. the next game after that, and Colorado, its not going to be an easy thing. Weve got to play a lot like we played tonight if we want to have success on Wednesday and beyond." With starter JonasHiller having allowed 11 goals over a personal 0-2-1 skid and backup goaltender FrederikAndersen out with an upper-body injury, JohnGibson made his NHL debut in net and posted an 18-save shutout. At 20 years and 297 days old, Gibson became the youngest goaltender since Buffalos Darren Puppa in 1985 to record a shutout in his NHL debut, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. Gibson also became the first NHL goaltender of any age to notch a shutout in his debut since AlMontoya for Phoenix on April 1, 2009. "The team played really well in front of me and made my job easier," said Gibson, a highly-touted prospect who was taken in the second round of the 2011 draft. "I only had to make regular saves and if there was any rebounds they cleared it out." DanielWinnik, KylePalmieri and MattBeleskey all scored for the Ducks, who stopped a two-game losing streak and reached 110 points on the season to match the previous club single-season record set in 2006-07. Anaheim also is one point behind the St. Louis Blues for the top seed in the Western Conference with three games to play. The Sharks have been idle since suffering their fourth shutout loss of the season. AnttiNiemi was beaten three times on 24 shots, with all three goals yielded in a span of less than 10 minutes of the second period. San Jose had won the first two of a three-game homestand and host Colorado on Friday before ending the regular season the following day at Phoenix. "Its the time of year where you cant have baggage," said Sharks coach Todd McLellan. "You cant carry things forward." Still, the Sharks face an uphill battle to pass the Ducks, leaving them a likely first-round matchup with the third-place Los Angeles Kings. The Sharks have won three of four versus the Ducks this season, but all three victories came at home and they lost a 6-3 decision in their lone previous trip to Anaheim on Dec. 31. The Ducks have won eight of the last 11 meetings at home overall. Tim Hardaway Jr. Jersey . A CFL source told TSNs Matthew Scianitti that Smith will re-sign with the Toronto Argonauts. Ricky Rubio jersey . So far, his encore is even better. Wainwright became the National Leagues first eight-game winner by dominating Cincinnati again, and the St.VIENNA, Austria -- Jurgen Melzer has pulled out of this months Australian Open because of a persistent left shoulder injury. The 27th-ranked Austrian underwent surgery on a torn tendon in October and needs more time to recover, the Austria Press Agency reports on Saturday. Melzer hassnt played since losing to Kei Nishikori in the second round at Shanghai in early October. Jeremy Lin Lakers Jersey. PORTLAND, Ore. Eric Ebron Jersey . - Gaston Fernandez scored on a header in the 85th minute to pull the Portland Timbers into a 3-3 draw with the Columbus Crew on Saturday night. There were a flurry of goals in the final 10 minutes. Portlands Will Johnson tied the match at 2-all in the 80th minute. Ethan Finlays shot deflected off a Portland player for an own goal for Columbus a minute later. The draw snapped a three-match losing streak for Columbus, but the Crew (3-4-4) remain winless in their last eight matches. Columbus hadnt scored a goal since April 26 in a 1-1 draw with the New York Red Bulls. Federico Higuain had a pair of goals for the Crew and Maximiliano Urruti opened the scoring for Portland (1-3-7) in the fifth minute. Portland defender Alvas Powell was sent off with a red card for a foul on Chad Barson in the 34th minute, putting the Timbers down a man for the rest of the match. The Timbers finished atop the Western Conference standings last season, but have just one victory this year even though they havent dropped a match at Providence Park this season. The Timbers were coming off a 1-1 draw at home against the Los Angeles Galaxy last weekend, with both goals coming in stoppage time. Columbus was without defender Michael Parkhurst, who is training with the U.S. national team in advance of the World Cup. Fellow defender Waylon Francis has been called up for duty with the Costa Rican national team. The Timbers were without midfielder Diego Chara and defender Michael Harrington because of injuries in last weeks draw with the Galaxy. Chara had surgery to stabilize a fractured bone in his left hand and will miss two weeks. After Urrutis goal from the corner of the box sailed past Crew goalkeeper Steve Clark in the fifth minute, Higuain evened it nine minutes later on a goal that sailed over goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts outstretched arms and into the back of the net. The match got contentious in stoppage time just before the break when Futty Danso was called for a foul in the penalty area and Higuain beat Ricketts. The Providence Park crowd loudly booed the refs, and Timbers coach Caleb Porter shouted at them as the team walked off the field. This is the only match between the teams this season. The last Portland meeting between the teams in 2012 ended with a scoreless draw. The Crew has won both previous meetings in Columbus, DeAndre Levy Jersey .com) - The Edmonton Oilers have made NailYakupov a healthy scratch for the second straight game for tonights game against the Washington Capitals. Stephen Tulloch Jersey . Johnson, 34, appeared in three games for the Baltimore Orioles last season after being acquired from the New York Yankees organization on Aug. 30. The six-foot-two, 210-pound native of Coon Rapids, Minn.VITORIA, Spain -- LamarOdoms brief venture into European basketball has been cut short by a back injury, according to his Spanish club. Baskonia said on Saturday that Odoms personal doctors in New York have ruled him unfit to play for two months, meaning he has "finished his present contract." Odom had travelled to New York with Baskonias permission. Odom, a former two-time NBA champion with the Los Angeles Lakes, signed a two-month deal with the Basque team last month after being out of contract since the close of the last NBA season. Odom thanked his new Spanish fans and said he still "represents" Baskonia. "I am going to try and get back on the court and give you guys a show," he told the club website. Odom, 34, looked rusty in his totaal of 23 minutes played in two games for Baskonia, scoring just two points. Brandon Pettigrew Jersey. "LamarOdom as an athlete, he is a little embarrassed," Odom said. "But, at the same time, I am proud to be able to say that I am hurt and that I have a team that understands that I am injured and they are still supportive. That means a lot." Baskonia said it would "leave the door open" to resigning Odom when he recovers. This marks another bump in a rough year for the power forward, who averaged a career-low 4.0 points and 5.9 rebounds last season with the Los Angeles Clippers. He was arrested for drunken driving last summer before getting divorced from wife Khloe Kardashian, who he starred with in a reality television show, in December. cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

Hellas Verona held bottom club Catania to a goalless draw in the Serie A on Saturday, thanks to the heroics of goalkeeper Rafael. Costa Rica Soccer Jersey . Veronas Brazilian shot-stopper pulled off several saves, notably to deny Sebastian-Leto from point-blank range in the 19th minute. Gino Peruzzi fired the rebound wide of the right upright. Rafael made another close-range save to keep out Pablo Alvarezs header from Pablo Barrientos free kick. Veronas only real chance came on the strike of halftime when Juanito Gomez collected a deft backheel from Luca Toni and rolled across for Romulo, who shot wide of an open goal. Catania, which remains bottom, snapped a run of three successive defeats and is four points off safety ahead of the rest of the weekend fixtures. Verona remains sixth. Barcelona Jersey . Moore-Towers, 21, of St. Catharines, Ont., and Moscovitch, 29, of Toronto teamed up in 2009 and became Canadian pairs champions in 2011. They were runners-up at the national championships the past two years. Soccer Jersey . He missed a three-game series against New York this week after suffering the injury last Sunday while trying to leg out a base hit during a game in Cincinnati. It didnt take long for the Toronto Blue Jays season to feel like it was beginning to unravel. When leadoff hitter JoseReyes pulled up as he neared first base on his first inning flyout, the doubt creeped in. By the bottom of the inning, when Reyes had been replaced by RyanGoins, panic was in full effect. Its not like this is unexpected. Reyes missed 69 games last season, has played more than 140 games once in the past five seasons, and is now 30-years-old. As players get older, they get hurt more often and take longer to recover. This is a thing that happens. Even taking all those factors into consideration, it was extra-depressing for Jays fans, who didnt need any additional reasons to be pessimistic about the 2014 season. With Reyes nursing his hamstring injury, look for Goins and MaicerIzturis to handle the middle infield spots. The Jays have also called up 28-year-old utility man JonathanDiaz, who has a .230 batting average with 14 home runs in eight minor league seasons. Reyes is not the only notable player hurt. Heres an update on some of the more significant players injured as the season gets underway: ClaytonKershaw, LHP, Los Angeles - The best pitcher on the planet has been bothered by a back injury, even though he had a stellar first start (1 ER, 5 H, 1 BB, 6 2/3 IP) in Australia, and it will likely keep him out at least a couple of starts. The Dodgers dont need a fifth starter until April 19, so they can make do, and will have veteran JoshBeckett set to join the rotation in the meantime. YuDarvish, RHP, Texas - The Rangers ace is coming back from neck tightness and may be ready to join the rotation next week. The Rangers rotation could really use Darvish, and possibly ColbyLewis, as Lewis attempts to come back from a surgically-repaired hip. MattKemp, CF, Los Angeles - The 29-year-old who has missed 145 games in the past two seasons, Kemp says hes ready to return as soon as possible. He is recovering from ankle surgery and is eligible to come off the DL on April 4; in the meantime, AndreEthier will get the playing time in centre for the Dodgers. ColeHamels, LHP, Philadelphia - Shoulder tendinitis caused Hamels trouble early in spring training and hes behind as a result, but is making progress now. He still has some minor-league starts to work through as he rehabs, and could return as soon as late April. MannyMachado, 3B, Baltimore - The rising star is still recovering from October knee surgery and, considering he is already the best fielding third baseman on the planet, there will be some letdown until he returns which, according to the Baltimore Sun, is apparently sometime in late April. While Machado is out, RyanFlaherty, who has 16 home runs and a .653 OPS in 163 career games, starts at third for the Orioles. HisashiIwakuma, RHP, Seattle - Out with a torn tendon in his middle finger, Iwakuma has been cleared to resume throwing and will begin building strength in his arm to get where he needs to be as a starter. Hes likely to miss the first month of the season as he rehabs. TaijuanWalker, RHP, Seattle - A shoulder impingement has halted the progress of the Mariners top pitching prospect, but has resumed throwing and may only miss the first few weeks of the season. With Iwakuma and Walker out, LHP Roenis Elias and veteran RHP ChrisYoung have landed a couple of rotation spots to start the year. MatLatos, RHP, Cincinnati - Still recovering from knee surgery, Latos doesnt seem that far away, as hes set to make a rehab start in Double-A this week. If that means he misses a couple starts for the Reds before coming off the DL in mid-April, thats not the end of the world. JhoulysChacin, RHP, Colorado - Effectively, the ace of the Rockies staff, is coming back from a shoulder strain, but is expected to miss the first month of the season. With Chacin out, FranklinMorales is one of the pitchers that will get a turn in the rotation. AroldisChapman, LHP, Cincinnati - After taking a line drive off the head, Chapman is making progress and appears to be on track to recover, though he has yet to be cleared to resume throwing, that could come in the next couple weeks. In the meantime, with JonathanBroxton also on the DL, RHP J.J.Hoover is the leading candidate for saves in the Cincinnati bullpen. MichaelBourn, CF, Cleveland - A hamstring strain has slowed the speedy outfielder who is not expected to be ready, when hes eligible, to come off the DL Friday. In the meantime, there is an opportunnity for NyjerMorgan to handle centre field while Bourn is out. Inter Milan Jersey. Morgan, 33, had a .795 OPS with only three stolen bases in Japan last season. ShaneVictorino, RF, Boston - The 33-year-old Flyin Hawaiian has been grounded by a hamstring strain, leaving room for Jackie Bradley Jr. to remain in Boston, though DanielNava is the top candidate to handle right field in Victorinos absence, with MikeCarp and JonnyGomes also available for corner outfield work. Bradley has more versatility in that his skills can translate to any of the three outfield spots. JuricksonProfar, 2B, Texas - One of the top young players in baseball, Profar could be out up to three months with a muscle tear in his shoulder. Journeymen JoshWilson and DonnieMurphy can handle second base in Profars absence. Murphy showed a little pop last season, hitting 11 home runs with an .849 OPS in 163 plate appearances for the Cubs, but neither has much of an offensive track record. Jonathon Niese, LHP, N.Y. Mets - While Niese was bothered by some elbow inflammation in the spring, and was put on the DL, all signs point to his returning April 6 for his first start of the year. DerekHolland, LHP, Texas - Coming off microfracture knee surgery, Holland is making progress, but it will likely be the second half of the season before hes ready to return. A.J.Griffin, RHP, Oakland - Flexor tendinitis in his elbow puts Griffin on the shelf to start the year and, combined with the season-ending injury to JarrodParker, is a big hit to the As rotation. JesseChavez and TommyMilone are slated to hold down the last couple spots on the Oakland starting staff. JoshJohnson, RHP, San Diego - What? JoshJohnson is injured, you say? The shock. Hes expected to return sometime in May from a strained forearm and isnt a bad sleeper as a reclamation project following his disastrous 2013 season in Toronto. While Johnson is out, LHP RobbieErlin has a spot in the Padres rotation. WilsonRamos, C, Washington - Suffered an injured hand in the first game of the year, but x-rays were negative, so it may not be broken, which would obviously be good news. For as long as Ramos is out, JoseLobaton is next in line to handle catching duties for the Nationals. MarcoScutaro, 2B, San Francisco - With a back injury basically wiping out Scutaros spring, he appears to be some distance from returning to the field. One-time touted prospect, now utility infielder JoaquinArias will see the bulk of the work at second while Scutaro remains sidelined. CarlosQuentin, LF, San Diego - A knee injury will keep Quentin on the DL to start the year, and beyond the minimum 15 days. Veterans ChrisDenorfia and SethSmith could be the best bets to play in Quentins absence. BobbyParnell, RHP, N.Y. Mets - On the shelf due to a partial torn ligament in his elbow, Parnell may be headed for surgery and that leaves the closers role open. First up is 36-year-old veteran JoseValverde, who has 286 career saves, but flamed out with the Tigers last season, allowing six home runs in 19 1/3 innings to lose the job. GordonBeckham, 2B, Chicago White Sox - With an oblique injury limiting Beckham, though possibly not for long, MarcusSemien gets the starts at second base for the White Sox. Semien, 23, has hit 36 home runs with an .828 OPS and 36 stolen bases in three minor-league seasons. GeovanySoto, C, Texas - A torn meniscus could keep Soto out for three months, which gives J.P.Arencibia an opportunity to rebound from a tough 2013 season, but that playing time is no guarantee either. RobinsonChirinos could challenge for playing time, especially if Arencibias defence is a problem. AndyDirks, LF, Detroit - Slated to miss at least the first two months as he recovers from back surgery, Dirks is replaced by RajaiDavis in left field for the Tigers. Davis has his flaws, but from 2009 through 2013, his 216 stolen bases ranks second, behind only MichaelBourn. CameronMaybin, CF, San Diego - A ruptured biceps tendon is going to cost Maybin the first couple months of the season and hes coming off a season during which he played just 14 games because of wrist and knee injuries. AlexiAmarista and WillVenable have started in centre field this year with Maybin out. TORONTO -- PatrickPatterson knows his role and, usually, its making an impact off the bench. Julian Edelman Jersey . But on Monday, the back-up forward got his first start since coming to Toronto two months ago and made the most of it, pouring in a season-high 22 points as the Raptors defeated New Orleans 108-101. "My role doesnt change whether its starting, or whether Im coming off the bench," said Patterson, who learned earlier in the day he would join the starting five in place of AmirJohnson, sidelined with a right ankle injury. "Setting screens, rebounding, shooting my shot, running the floor in transition and making my teammates better." Patterson, who came over to Toronto from the Sacramento Kings on Dec. 9 in a seven-player trade that sent RudyGay West, did all of that Monday in his first start in 30 games as a Raptor. He was a tidy 7-for-11 from the field -- including 3-for-5 from three-point range -- had six rebounds and added two assists. In his fourth season in the NBA, Patterson had 54 career starts, the majority with the Houston Rockets, coming into Monday night. He had started just six games this season, all with Sacramento. "Its all about making sure I have a positive role," Patterson said his rare start. Pattersons 22 points was one more than he had for the Kings against the Los Angeles Clippers Nov. 23. "Fifteen deep. Thats how we play. Thats how we role," starting point guard KyleLowry said of Pattersons ability to step into the line-up. "We won. Everybody stepped up." Lowry had another complete performance, scoring 19 points, doling out 12 assists and grabbing seven rebounds while DeMarDeRozan added 22 points as the Raptors (27-24) snapped a two-game losing streak before a crowd of 17,596 at Air Canada Centre. With the win, the Raptors, returning home from a five-game road trip out West, widened their lead over the Brooklyn Nets atop the NBAs Atlantic Division to three games. Toronto, 8-2 at home since Jan. 1, plays seven of its next nine at Air Canada Centre. The Raptors host the Atlanta Hawks Wednesday in their final game before the All-Star break. "We want to get both wins at home, protect home court and go into the break with a great conscience and try to hit the stretch run running," Lowry said of the teams approach to this weeks two games. The Raptors squandered a 15-point lead in the second quarter to go into halftime tied at 49. They then built up an 18-point edge in the third but again saw the Pelicans (22-29) battle back. TyrekeEvans had a game-high 23 points and 10 assists to lead New Orleans. AnthonyDavis added 19. New Orleans went on a 16-5 run over the opening 5:10 of the fourth quarter to cut the Toronto lead to 87-86. But the Raptors responded with an 11-3 run over the next 2:30 to pull away for the victory. "For whatever reason, we are losing our leads with our second unit," said Raptors head coach Dwane Casey. "What its doing is putting a lot of pressure on our starters and them in big minute situations." DeRozan logged 40:21 and Lowry put in 38:48 to lead in court time among all players. "Taking PatrickPatterson off the second unit hurts them a bit," Casey said. "But still we have to get a rhythm with that second unit so we can rest our starters." Tom Brady Jersey . The showiest items on Calgarys lot were forwards MikeCammalleri and LeeStempniak. Both will be unrestricted free agents this summer. Chandler Jones Jersey . -- Quinn OBrien scored three times in the third period as the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies beat the host Chicoutimi Sagueneens 7-3 on Friday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.HARRISON, N.J. -- Maybe just a touch of the flu is what New York Red Bulls forward Bradley Wright-Phillips needed. The English forward, who had one goal in seven games last season, missed Tuesdays training session with a fever, but recovered enough to score three goals Wednesday night and lead the Red Bulls to their second straight victory, 4-0 over the Houston Dynamo. "We thought it was only a matter of time before he scored a goal and then got hot," Red Bulls coach Mike Petke said. "But three goals tonight? I did not see this coming." Wright-Phillips, who joined New York in August, was the first Red Bulls player to record three goals in a match since Thierry Henry in March 2012 against Montreal. "I just try to do the same thing all the time," said Wright-Phillips, 29, the younger half brother of England midfielder Shaun Wright-Phillips, who plays with Queens Park Rangers. "I didnt think it was my night. I just try to do the same thing. "No matter where I go, I think I can score goals. I scored today. Next game, I might not be scoring and you guys might be interviewing somebody else." The win earned New York some measure of revenge against Houston, which beat the Red Bulls in Harrison last November to eliminate them from the playoffs. Henry had the other goal for the Red Bulls, who were winless in their first six games but improved to 10 points and within one of Eastern Conference leaders Sporting KC and the Columbus Crew. Houston is winless in its last five. Wright-Phillips put New York ahead in the 12th minute after Kosuke Kimura sent a through ball down the right side into the path of a streaking Henry. Unmarkeed, Henry had time and space to turn and send a bounding ball to the top of the six, where an equally unmarked Wright-Phillips easily deflected it past Houston keeper Tally Hall. Stephen Gostkowski Jersey. His second goal was similar 12 minutes later. Left back Roy Miller slid to win a ball from Houston counterpart Warren Creavalle on the left touchline and advanced unchallenged into the Dynamo penalty area. There, he sent a low bounding cross that Wright-Phillips was able to redirect at the edge of the six to just inside the far post. Wright-Phillips helped hike the lead in the 65th minute, sending a cross in front of the Houston goal that Hall had to punch out in front. Henry ran onto the free ball and easily converted from the middle of the penalty area. Wright-Phillips completed his hat trick in the 86th, converting a penalty after Henry was brought down in the area. "He had a little bit of flu-ish symptoms yesterday, in practice," Petke said, before adding with a laugh, "so I told him hopefully this Friday hell have the flu again." The Red Bulls play at Columbus on Saturday. "It just wasnt a good night for us," Houston coach Dominic Kinnear said. "Probably the third goal, but we were still getting chances after that. After that third goal went in, its definitely a big mountain to climb." Both teams were without significant regulars. New York did not dress injured midfielder Tim Cahill and suspended defender Ibrahim Sekagya, while Houston was without U.S. national team midfielder Brad Davis, who missed his third straight game with an injured ankle, and Kofi Sarkodie, who was ejected against Philadelphia on Saturday. cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

Brampton Battalion forward Jamie Lewis knows why his team has been so dominant as of late. Brad Nortman Game Jersey . "We are getting some solid goaltending and defence," said Lewis. "We are also getting some timely goals." Lewis and Sam Carrick each scored a pair of goals to lead the Battalion to a 5-2 win over the Kingston Frontenacs on Sunday afternoon in Ontario Hockey League action. Philip Lane scored the other Battalion (18-10-4) goal while Marcus McIvor chipped in with two assists. Cody Alcock and Kyler Nixon scored for the Frontenacs (8-20-4). Matej Machovsky made 17 saves for the win as Igor Bobkov stopped 36 shots in defeat. Brampton capitalized on one of their seven opportunities with the man advantage while Kingston went 0-for-7 on the power play. The Battalion have now won four games in a row and sit three points ahead of the Barrie Colts and Niagara IceDogs for first in the OHL Central Division. Elsewhere in the OHL, it was: Brampton 5, Kingston 2; London 2, Guelph 1 (OT); Kitchener 6, Mississauga 1; Sarnia 4, Peterborough 2; Saginaw 7, Erie 1; and Sault Ste. Marie 5, Oshawa 3. At Brampton, Ont., Alcock scored just 1:18 into the game to give Kingston a 1-0 lead, but Lewis scored at 3:02 to tie it at one. Lane then scored short handed to give the Battalion a 2-1 lead through 20 minutes of play. Nixon tied it for the Frontenacs at 2:36 of the second period but Lewis scored his second goal of the game 34 seconds later to regain Bramptons lead. Carrick then scored at 12:24 to give the Battalion a two-goal advantage heading into the third period. Carrick then added one more at 10:19, on the power play, to give Brampton a 5-2 victory. --- Knights 2 Storm 1 (OT) At Guelph, Ont., Max Domi scored in overtime and Michael Houser turned aside 32 shots to lead London (24-6-1) over the Storm (13-13-5). --- Rangers 6 Majors 1 At Mississauga, Ont., Zach Lorentz scored two goals and John Gibson made 35 saves as Kitchener (21-9-1) downed the Majors (14-13-4). --- Sting 4 Petes 2 At Sarnia, Ont., Nail Yakupov returned to the lineup after missing seven games with an injury and had a goal and an assist to help the Sting (18-9-5) defeat Peterborough (14-13-5). --- Spirit 7 Otters 1 At Saginaw, Mich., Josh Shalla had his second straight two-goal game and also added an assist as the Spirit (13-17-2) crushed Erie (4-25-2). --- Greyhounds 5 Generals 3 At Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., Carson Dubchak scored a hat trick to lift the Greyhounds (16-14-4) past Oshawa (13-16-4). Greg Olsen Elite Jersey . SeanMonahan scored two goals, including the overtime winner, as the Flames snapped a two-game losing skid with a 2-1 victory over the Oilers in a game between two of the NHLs current lesser lights. Kelvin Benjamin Grey Jersey . The 11-year NBA veteran scored 18 of his 28 points in the third quarter and the Los Angeles Clippers beat the Phoenix Suns 104-96 Tuesday to match their season best of five victories in a row. LOS ANGELES -- JonathanQuick and the Los Angeles Kings have returned from the Olympic break with a revitalized game and a sharpened playoff focus. The Carolina Hurricanes have neither, and they realize theyre running out of time to get it. AlecMartinez scored the tiebreaking goal on a power play with 11:45 to play, Quick made 24 saves, and the Kings beat the Hurricanes 3-1 Saturday for their third victory in four days since the break. MikeRichards scored his second goal since late November and JustinWilliams added an empty-net goal for Los Angeles, which has roared out of the break with three wins in three cities in about 70 hours. The low-scoring Kings put up eight goals at Colorado and Calgary before holding off Carolina in their return to Staples Center. After five scoreless power plays in the first two periods, the Kings finally converted on their sixth. Captain DustinBrown got the puck behind the Carolina net and fed it to Martinez, who blasted a shot from the slot for his first goal since Jan. 9. "Its no secret we werent happy with our game before the break started," Martinez said. "We worked on a lot of things, and we knew that when we came back, this would be crunch-time, playoff hockey." After two straight trips to the Western Conference finals and a Stanley Cup championship in 2012, the Kings know a few things about post-season grit -- and they know theyll need it just to reach the playoffs this time. Los Angeles had a 1-8-1 stretch shortly before the Olympic break, falling back to the pack in the conference playoff race. The Kings are thoroughly revived after their time off and an eventful Olympics, which included gold medals for DrewDoughty and JeffCarter along with two surprising victories for Slovenia and AnzeKopitar. The rest of the Kings got several days off and several more days of practice, and both appear to be paying off. "Weve got to bring our best every night right now," Quick said. The Kings have won four straight overall, and Quick appears to be in top form after starting for the U.S. Olympic team in Sochi. He followed up his shutout of the Flames on Thursday with annother strong performance against the Canes, including a handful of spectacular saves over the final two periods. DeAngelo Williams Grey Jersey. AndrejSekera scored and AntonKhudobin stopped 28 shots for the Hurricanes, who have lost three straight on their five-game road trip out of the break. Carolina has lost four straight overall, and the Hurricanes must visit NHL-leading Anaheim and powerful San Jose over the next three days. "We didnt have a lot of good scoring chances, but the ones we did, we didnt capitalize on them," Carolina coach KirkMuller said. "Weve played nine periods now (since the break), and I think were happy with seven of the nine, but we havent gotten any points. Were playing hard and playing well defensively, but were not generating the offence we need to get ahead in these games." Carolina played without forward AlexanderSemin, who was scratched with a lower-body injury. The Russian Olympian was hurt Thursday at Dallas, but might return Sunday in Anaheim. "Hes one of our best players, so it hurts having him out," Carolina centre RileyNash said. "But guys have to fill (the void)." Los Angeles had a fruitless 4-on-3 advantage for 1:09 during the first period, but went ahead in the final minute on a sharp-angled shot by Richards, the veteran centre whose scoring touch has deserted him this season. The goal was his first in 13 games since Jan. 18 and just his second in 37 games since Nov. 25. The Hurricanes tied it up just 41 seconds later on a goal by Sekera. The Slovak Olympians floating shot banked off Kings defenceman RobynRegehr and beat Quick with 15 seconds left in the first. "We played well and didnt give them a whole lot," Nash said. "It just seems like were finding ways not to win games and not to get points." NOTES: Carolina visited Staples Center for the first time since Oct. 21, 2010. ... Carolina D JayHarrison was a healthy scratch. He had played in 13 straight games. ... Los Angeles scratched C JordanNolan and dressed young F TannerPearson for his 10th career NHL game. ... ls on 22 shots for Victoriavil
It was a night where, from a coaching stand point, it could have been a game to forget. Netherland Soccer Jersey . When a team wins just one of five games coaches have tough decisions to make, and that was the case for Winnipeg coach Claude Noel on Friday as the Jets faced the St. Louis Blues. To start, he revamped his defence pairings and chose not to dress EricTangradi and DevinSetoguchi. He watched 19-year-old defenceman JacobTrouba get carried off on a stretcher in the second period after going head first into the boards on an offensive zone fore-check. He sat EvanderKane a few shifts after Kane took his second minor penalty of the game and fifth in the last two games, lost defenceman MarkStuart early in the third as he slid into the post trying to break up an odd man rush, and saw his team down 3-1 in the third period to a very good defensive team. On the "D" pairings, Noel was looking for more balance and more consistency from the back end. ZachBogosian had been playing his off side, something that had to be short term. So Bogosian was paired with Toby Enstrom, GrantClitsome with DustinByfuglien and Stuart with Trouba. The left/right balance was perfect. "You have to shake things up when youre not happy with the way things are going. We had to get more from people. It was enough, we needed to compete harder," said Noel of the changes and sitting the two veterans. PatriceCormier and AnthonyPeluso drew into the lineup in place of Tangradi and Setoguchi. Cormier was recalled from St. Johns Wednesday because of injuries the Jets have been dealing with. It appears Trouba is going to be okay and a timetable on his return right now does not matter his health does. Kane played a key role in the comeback, and the four remaining defencemen did an outstanding job and were also key in the comeback, especially Enstrom and Byfuglien. The Jets had a much better start to this game despite giving up the first goal to DavidBackes. OlliJokinen tied the game before a late first period goal by AlexanderSteen gave the Blues the lead. On both of the Blues first period goals the Jets had possession of the puck but gave it away. The Blues hit three goal posts and a cross bar in the first and OndrejPavelec in a post-game interview was the first to acknowledge that it could have been a different score after one. Steens seventth of the year early in the third made it a 3-1 game, and the Blues do not surrender two goals leads very often. But the Jets stayed with the game plan and were able to take advantage of a turnover in the Blues zone. Kanes shot went off the sticks of both Blues defencemen and in to bring the Jets to within one with 6:47 to go. With just under two minutes left in regulation, Byfuglien made a great play to keep the puck in in the zone and eventually set up Enstrom for a one-timer that tied the game. Overtime did not produce a goal and just like the first time the Blues played at MTS Centre, the game went to a shootout. With Blues up 2-1 in the shootout, BryanLittle, the Jets third shooter, had to score to keep the Jets alive and he did. Pavelec stopped the next four Blues shooters before Jokinwn put the Jets ahead giving Pavelec centre stage to win the game with a save on ChrisStewart, which he did. It was the second time this season the Jets (now 4-4 and 3-3 at home) came from two down to win. They did the same in Edmonton on opening night. Two games remain on the teams current six-game home stand with Nashville Sunday and Washington Tuesday. Both games will be on TSN Jets and, as always, on TSN 1290. Coach Noel also had these post-game comments "We played a way better game. Played harder, battled harder. We had reasons to be discouraged, but we got a break that lead to our second goal. We were patient." When asked if that was the best he has seen Byfuglien play: "Yes, hes been very consistent, very focussed." On the Trouba incident: "Pretty scary. Never a good moment when a stretcher comes out. For either team. But it looks like he will be okay." It was the second time this week the Blues have seen that happen, as San Joses DanBoyle went off on a stretcher Tuesday after a hit by MaximLapierre in a game in St. Louis. The Jets were 3-for-3 on the penalty kill against the leagues second best power play. The Jets have now killed 25 of their last 28 penalties and 14 of the last 15 - the only power play goal in that stretch was DanielBrieres with the Jets net empty for an extra attacker. The Jets were 0-for-2 with the man advantage and, after scoring a power play goal in each of the first five games, have now gone three games without. USA Soccer Jersey . -- Quinn OBrien scored three times in the third period as the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies beat the host Chicoutimi Sagueneens 7-3 on Friday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action. Chelsea Jersey . Julien Leduc scored twice for the Tigres while Carl-Antoine Delisle and Cameron Yarwood had the others. Louis-Philip Guindon made 26 saves for Drummondville. ST. Chris Davis Grey Jersey . PETERSBURG, Florida DrewHutchison meant business when he arrived in Dunedin for spring training. He had a point to prove: hes back, and hes not worried about his surgically repaired elbow, as he enters what he hopes will be his first full season in the major leagues. "I expected make the team and now Im ready to go perform," said Hutchison after his final Grapefruit League start on March 27. Manager John Gibbons and pitching coach PeteWalker rave about Hutchisons poise. They love his mound presence. Theyve been thrilled with his bounce back from Tommy John elbow ligament replacement surgery dating back to his appearances in the Arizona Fall League. Hutchison, a command and control pitcher, routinely pumped his fastball to the plate at 92-94 miles per hour, painting the corners along the way. "We like him," said manager John Gibbons. "Hes got a chance to be a real good one. Ever since he had the Tommy John hes thrown better than he was." Results in spring training often dont matter. With Hutchison, they did. He was competing for a roster spot. He needed to show the Blue Jays he was healthy and could be consistently effective. As a young player, just 23 years old, with options, he needed to drastically outperform veterans who were out of options. He accomplished all that with a 1.80 ERA and 0.800 WHIP in four Grapefruit League starts, and gets the nod in Tuesday nights second game of the season-opening series in Tampa Bay. Not that it surprises him. "I thought Id come into camp and do exactly what I did," said Hutchison. "Thats my expectation level and thats what I feel I would be able to do." Hutchison often repeats variations of the word "expect." He has high expectations of himself, he expects to succeed; hes expecting a long and healthy career. He speaks with supreme confidence but without a hint of arrogance. Its all matter of fact. "I dont understand, at least from my perspective thats just the way Ive approached things and thats the way Ive always been," said Hutchison. "I expect that out of myself and now its time, spring trainings over and its time to go perform and win because thats what its all about." Whether Hutchisons approach translates into a successful season will be known only with the passage of time. Gibbons and Walker are looking for someone on which they can rely. The club has a reasonable idea of what to expect from R.A.Dickey and MarkBuehrle. It isnt clear what the Blue Jays will get from Hutchison and BrandonMorrow, both because of their respective injury histories and because neither has shown the ability, yet, to be a front-line starter over the course of a full season. "Hes a pitcher," said Gibbons. "It takes effort for him but hes kind of an effortless type guy. I think hes going to have a big, big year for us. I really do." Surely Hutchison must have had his doubts during the laborious rehab of his elbow? He insists he didnt. "Thats just the way Ive always been," said Hutchison. "I just expect a lot out of myself and I expect a high level from myself. Thats not to try to be, you know, thats just how I am." Manny Machado White Jersey . China defeated Myanmar 3-0 while South Korea blanked Thailand 4-0 at the AFC Womens Asian Cup to secure top-two finishes in the Group B standings. Three more Asian countries will book their World Cup tickets by Wednesday. Cal Ripken Orioles Jersey . -- It wouldnt bother ZackGreinke if he didnt have to travel for the Los Angeles Dodgers opener against Arizona in Australia. BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Injuries played a contributing role in the Buffalo Sabres midseason swoon. And the Sabres are going to have to deal with them again if they intend to complete a late-season playoff push. Defenceman ChristianEhrhoff is out indefinitely after hurting his left knee. Coach Lindy Ruff wouldnt put a timetable on his recovery Wednesday, except to say Ehrhoff will "miss some time." Ehrhoff was hurt a day earlier in the first period of a 5-1 win over Washington. Thats when he was in front of his own net and knocked knees with Capitals forward TroyBrouwer, who was driving into the crease. The injury is a considerable blow to a team in the midst a late-season playoff surge. The Sabres (38-29-10) have won five straight and are 7-0-2 in their past nine in a run thats jumped them two points ahead of Washington and into sole possession of the Eastern Conferences eighth and final playoff spot. With five games left, Buffalo is off until hosting Pittsburgh on Friday. Ehrhoff was one of the Sabres key off-season acquisitions, and has developed into one of their steadiest defencemen. He leads the team in averaging 23:03 of ice time, and Buffalo defencemen with 32 points (five goals, 27 assists). MikeWeber will fill Ehrhoffs spot, returning to the lineup after being a healthy scratch the past four games. Ehrhoffs importance was evident earlier this season when he missed 11 games with a rib injury. The Sabres went 2-7-2 without him. Buffalo has gone 19-5-5 since, with Ehrhoffs return coming at a time when the Sabres also welcomed back defenceman RobynRegehr and centre TylerEnnnis from injury. Chris Davis Jersey. "I think dealing with one injury is maybe better than what we had to deal with in the past," said Ruff, who at one point was missing as many as nine regulars. "We have to deal with it. We have to face a little adversity, and we need players to step up." The Sabres stepped up against the Capitals, particularly in the second period when they were missing both Ehrhoff and defenceman AndrejSekera, who limped off after being struck by a shot. Down to three blue-liners after RobynRegehr was penalized for hooking, Buffalo responded with captain JasonPominville scoring a short-handed goal to make it 4-1. Sekera was given the day off from practice Wednesday, but is expected to play against Pittsburgh. Center DerekRoy missed practice due to the flu. Defenceman TylerMyers is impressed by how the Sabres have surged into playoff contention, while noting the jobs not done yet. "I think last game was a big statement game for us," Myers said. "But in saying that, we dont want to focus on it too much. We want to look ahead and make sure we win our next five here." Notes: After DrewStafford scored twice against the Capitals, he and his linemates, Ennis and rookie MarcusFoligno, have combined for 17 goals and 38 points in their past nine games. ... G RyanMiller stopped 44 shots and improved to 14-1-3 in his past 18 games, in which hes allowed 32 goals. ... LW JochenHecht, whos 29 games with a concussion, says hes been symptom-free for about two weeks, but still hasnt been cleared for contact. cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

ANKARA, Turkey -- New Jersey Nets point guard DeronWilliams says on Twitter that he has officially signed with Turkeys Besiktas. Blue Patrick Kerney Authentic Throwback Jersey . The all-star guard has posted a picture of Fridays agreement with Besiktas bearing his signature on his Twitter account. Williams says on Twitter: "just made it official, headed to Turkey...signed with Besiktas." Williams averaged 20.1 points and 10.3 assists for the Nets and the Utah Jazz last season. Super Bowl Two Tone Bobby Wagner Limited Jersey . Parmelee hit a game-ending shot in the ninth inning and the Minnesota Twins overcame DavidOrtizs big night to beat the Boston Red Sox 8-6 on Tuesday. Green 12th Fan Limited Mens Jersey . They just probably couldnt have imagined how much. BlakeGriffin had 26 points, 11 rebounds and six assists Sunday night as Los Angeles stormed out to a 31-point lead in the first quarter with its All-Star point guard back on the court and pummeled the Philadelphia 76ers 123-78.BUFFALO, N.Y. Blue Cortez Kennedy Elite Womens Jersey.

WASHINGTON -- MikhailGrabovski tied the score with 5:32 left in the third period and had the go-ahead goal in a shootout to help the Washington Capitals snap their four-game losing streak with a 3-2 victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Friday. Casey Hayward Packers Jersey . BradenHoltby kicked away attempts by AlexGalchenyuk and TomasPlekanec, giving Washington a 3-2 edge in the shootout. Eric Fair, who had a goal and an assist in regulation, also scored in the tiebreaker for the Capitals along with AlexOvechkin. Plekanec had a goal and an assist for Montreal, which had won four straight. DanielBriere added a goal and BrianGionta assisted on both regulation scores for the Canadiens. LarsEller and DavidDesharnais connected in the shootout for Montreal. The evening began in bizarre fashion for Washington. After a pregame, lower-body injury to goalie MichalNeuvirth, the Capitals hastily signed video coach Brett Leonhardt to back up Holtby, who finished with 35 saves. In a similar situation in December 2008, Washington suited up Leonhardt -- a former college goalie -- for a game. Montreal outshot Washington 13-4 in the first period and broke on top at the 15:20 mark when Capitals defenceman AlexanderUrbom failed to clear a puck from behind the net and Briere scored on a wraparound between the legs of Holtby. Washington tied it 5:17 into the second period on a similar failure to clear by Montreal. Grabovski took the puck off the stick of Canadiens goalie PeterBudaj behind the net and directed it toward Fehr, who scored into an open goal. But the Canadiens answered 67 seconds later in transition when Gionta centred to Plekanec, whose glancing shot bounced past Holtby. Budaj finished with 24 saves. He was trying to win at Washington for the second time in eight days. A week earlier, he withstood a barrage of shots in the third period of Montreals 3-2 victory. NOTES: Leonhardt was a goalie at Oswego State and Neumann University. ... Washington forward BrooksLaich missed his first game of the season. Little-used JayBeagle took the place of Laich, appearing for just the 13th time in two seasons under coach AdamOates. Donald Driver Packers Jersey . -- As usual, Aksel Lund Svindal was super fast on this hill. James Starks Packers Jersey. The Winnipeg Jets head coach, whose parents are French-Canadian, lost much of his mother tongue the result of playing and coaching hockey in the U.S. but still speaks enough to get by.The Edmonton Oilers picked up veteran scoring winger TeddyPurcell, sending SamGagner to Tampa Bay, who then flipped Gagner to Arizona in a move to clear cap space. Numbers Game breaks down the pieces involved in these two deals. The Oilers Get: RW TeddyPurcell. Purcell, 28, is a skilled winger with good size, though he doesnt always use that size to his maximum advantage. Hes missed a total of three games over the past four seasons and his 194 points over that time ranks 57th in the league. Hes a productive player. A fine complement to other skilled forwards, Purcell has posted strong relative posession stats, enough that hes a solid fit as a second-line winger. How that fits with the current Oilers roster is an interesting question, at the very least. With TaylorHall, JordanEberle, DavidPerron and NailYakupov on board, adding Purcell to the mix does give the Oilers plenty of scoring wingers, though they are now looking at a presumed hole at second-line centre, unless the Oilers are already projecting third overall pick Leon Draisaitl into that spot. Purcell has two years remaining on a contract that comes with a $4.5-million cap hit; no bargain, but not unreasonable for a top-six forward. The Coyotes Get: C SamGagner and RW B.J.Crombeen. Gagner is a 24-year-old who has never surpassed the 49 points that he scored as a rookie, but is also the second-leading scorer from the 2007 Draft class, behind only first overall pick PatrickKane. Its certainly possible that Gagner can recover his game, because hes still relatively young, but hes been a possession disaster over the past couple seasons and at least part of that reflects his defensive shortcomings. Where this fits for Arizona is that they have two-way centres that can effectively protect Gagner. With MartinHanzal and AntoineVermette available to face tougher match-ups, Gagner can be utilized in a role that focuses on offensive production. Since the Coyotes just bought out MikeRibeiro, its conceivable that Gagner could take over those minutes and Ribeiro started a higher percentage of his shifts in the offensive zone (minimum 40 games played) than anyone in the league last season. If the Coyotes are going to maximize Gagners production, they could also give him that offensive role and add a free agent winger to further upgrade their skill level. Former Oilers RW AlesHemsky is a free agent, but JussiJokinen, MattMoulson and MikeCammalleri are other options that could have some appeal. Gagner has two years left on hiss contract, at a cap hit of $4. Tramon Williams Packers Jersey. .8-million, and will get $5-million per season in actual salary, with the Lightning retaining one-third the cost as part of the trade. More on that in a moment. Crombeen is a 28-year-old winger who has has 90 fights and 49 points in 265 games over the past six-plus seasons. Hes generally a subpar possession player, but not so much so that he cant handle a regular shift on the fourth line. Heading into the final year of his contract, Crombeen brings a cap hit of $1.15-million, and gives the Coyotes an enforcer that they can keep in the lineup on at least a semi-regular basis. The Lightning Get: A sixth-round pick in 2015. In the immediate aftermath of the Gagner-for-Purcell swap, the Lightning Tweeted that Gagner was going to be bought-out, which makes sense considering the Lightnings decision to retain salary as part of the deal with Arizona. Since Gagner is under 26-years-old, a buyout would cost one-third the value of his contract, so the Coyotes jumped in, before Gagner hit the open market, and by taking on Crombeens salary, gave the Lightning a little increased financial flexibility as they prepare for free agency on July 1. With more room to maneuver under the cap, the Lightning could go in a couple directions. They could go after a scoring winger -- JaromeIginla, ThomasVanek and MikeCammalleri are some options -- a veteran to complement a young and promising group of Tampa Bay forwards, or they could spend that money on defence. Former Lightning D DanBoyle could be one target, but ChristianEhrhoff, MarkFayne, AntonStralman and MattNiskanen are among the more prized blueliners about to hit free agency. A sixth-round pick brings with it about a 15% chance of yielding an NHL player, so not great value, but a token price for taking on Crombeens contract. In a separate deal, the Lightning also moved NateThompson to Anaheim, acquiring fourth and seventh-round picks in 2015. The picks bring a little less than a 30% chance of an NHL player, but the Lightning clear Thompsons $1.6-million per season for the next three years off the books. Essentially the Oilers, and especially the Lightning look like they are making moves to set up something else, other moves to make this offseason, while the Coyotes took advantage of an opportunity and filled a hole in their lineup at a very reasonable cost. TORONTO -- During his time with the Toronto Maple Leafs, MikhailGrabovski often brought his best to the ice when playing the Montreal Canadiens. Andrew Quarless Packers Jersey . Montreal traded Grabovski early in his NHL career, but it was in his five seasons with Toronto that he "grew up" as a hockey player. After Grabovski was bought out by the Maple Leafs last summer, his former teammates expect him to be fired up when the Washington Capitals visit Air Canada Centre on Saturday night. "Im sure hell be wanting to put on a good show here in Toronto," centre TylerBozak said. "Hell want to play well, for sure. Hopefully we can hold him to a minimum out there. Hes going to be going hard." Good friend NikolaiKulemin expects Grabovski is "going to play harder against us than any other teams." This after things went poorly in his final season in Toronto, culminating with his profanity-filled ripping of coach Randy Carlyle in an interview with TSN Radio 1050 after being bought out. Kulemin said Grabovski was a little nervous before getting married when he went off on Carlyle. Defenceman CarlGunnarsson said Friday he thought Grabovski did all right last year in spite of some adversity. "I guess he wasnt happy with how he played or how they used him in games," Gunnarsson said. "But even though going out to the media like that might not be the right answer to it. Thats up to him. I dont think anyone would happy to be bought out like that." Grabovski said this week hes comfortable with his role on the Capitals, centring the third line between JasonChimera and JoelWard. Coach AdamOates more offensive-minded system fits him better than Carlyles, so hes happy to have a fresh start. But that doesnt mean hes not at least "a little bit excited" to return to Toronto and face the Leafs. "Its motivation to play in the place where you play like a hometown," Grabovski told reporters at the Capitals practice facility Thursday. "Five years in the city. I feel like I have a lot of friends, a lot of family, I know a lot of people, so for me its like hometown. I can say I grew up in this place." Grabovski played 340 games with the Leafs, putting up 91 goals and 118 assists. He thrived under coach Ron Wilson and along the way earned a US$27.5-million, five-year contract. Carlyle used Grabovski in more defensive spots than he was used to, and the relationship soured. Even with the hard feelings, Grabovski said this week that Carlyle and his staff helped him become a better defensive and more disciplined player. Prompted Saturday with a question about Grabovski airing his grievances on the way out, Carlyle laughed it off with a profanity. "Im not here to comment on players comments," Carlyle said. "Players make comments, they have their own agenda. My agenda here is as weve stated when it happened, we thank him for his time here, wish him all the best and were moving on. Simple as that." On coaching against Grabovski, Carlyle said: "Hes another player. I dont focus on Grabovski, I focus on the Washington Capitals." Grabovski has been a big part of the Capitals success this season. With seven goals and 12 assists, Grabovski is third on the team in points, behind only top-line stars AlexOvechkin and NicklasBackstrom. After feeling "terrible" about the buyout, the 29-year-old said he feels "excellent" in Washington. Thats a welcome development for his former teammates. "Hes found a place where he fits in well," Bozak said. "We know hes a great player and a good friend of all of ours. Hes having a great year, and were happy for him." NOTES -- Leafs defenceman MarkFraser is expected to return to the lineup after missing the past two games with a knee injury. MorganRielly is expected to be a healthy scratch. ... Centre TylerBozak will miss his 11th straight game with a hamstring injury. Carlyle said he was very surprised Bozak was not available against the Capitals because he was "fully counting" on him being ready. ... After losing 3-2 to the Montreal Canadiens on Friday night, the Capitals are tweaking their lineup. MartinErat is expected to be a healthy scratch, and hell be replaced by EricFehr who hasnt played since Nov. 2. Demetri Goodson Packers Jersey . Fifth-seeded Cilic gained his fourth title in Zagreb and became the third Croat overall to win at least 10 career titles. Cilic also lifted his career record in Zagreb to 22-4, winning 20 of his last 21 matches at the event. Packers #21 Jersey . Ecclestone dismissed on Wednesday any clash between the series, after the top executive at Texas Motor Speedway called F1 "arrogant" for scheduling the United States Grand Prix in Austin on the same weekend that his track hosts NASCAR in Fort Worth.SEATTLE -- SamFuld so rarely hits home runs its difficult for the Minnesota centre fielder to tell the difference between a deep fly ball and a shot that might leave the park. Especially in a park known to be unfriendly to hitters like Safeco Field. "I really dont hit enough to know whether its going to be an F-9 or a home run," Fuld said. Fuld barely cleared the wall with his second home run of the season, PhilHughes pitched into the eighth inning and the Twins beat the Seattle Mariners 2-0 on Tuesday night. A night after Fuld could not pull back MichaelSaunders home run, the roles were reversed. Fuld hit a 3-2 pitch from Seattle starter ChrisYoung (8-5) beyond the wall in right and just out of the reach of Saunders for the solo shot in the fifth inning. It was the first homer for Fuld since April 10. He finished with three hits and two stolen bases. Fuld took a hard tumble after crashing into the wall trying to snag Saunders shot on Monday night. He woke up sore, but showed up to the park early and made sure manager Ron Gardenhire knew he was fine to play. "That home run was big. Getting a run on the board here, we hadnt scored yet up in Seattle to that point," Gardenhire said. "We know coming in here this team pitches very well, that their bullpen is strong so runs are going to be a premium." Hughes rebounded from being knocked around in his previous two starts to shut down the Mariners. Hughes (9-5) gave up eight hits in 7 1-3 innings, struck out eight and didnt walk a batter in silencing Seattles stagnant offence. Hughes had given up a combined 19 hits and 12 earned runs in his past two starts, losses to Texas and the Yankees. But he had a strong history pitching in Seattle, and is 5-0 with a 0.61 ERA in seven career games at Safeco Field. Hughes went to a three-ball count just once and LoganMorrisons double in the fourth was the only extra base hit he allowed. "The last couple times out I felt like I got hurt with a couple of weird plays and tonight I got some good bounces with the double play ball. Nick Perry Packers Jersey. Sometimes its just the different of a couple of things going right for you and its a different story," Hughes said. "I felt like my fastball command was good tonight and I was able to work from there." Young was nearly equal to Hughes, yet unable to get a third straight victory because Seattle provided no offensive help. Young gave up six hits and struck out six, but lost for the first time since June 11. He was lifted after giving up a walk to EduardoEscobar and single to Fuld leading off the eighth to put runners at the corners with no outs. BrianDoziers sacrifice fly off reliever YoervisMedina scored Escobar to give Minnesota a 2-0 lead. "I needed to keep that scoreless tonight, one at most, and give us a chance," Young said. No matter what Young did on the mound, he couldnt help Seattles bats that have gone cold. Seattle has scored six runs in the past five games and is 2 for 36 with runners in scoring position during that stretch. Three times Seattle got runners to second base but they advanced no farther. Seattle tried to rally in the eighth after one out singles by Saunders and James Jones, and RobinsonCano coming to the plate. Hughes was lifted for reliever CaseyFien, who got Cano to ground into a double play to end the threat. "Frustration was setting in more than anything ... and then I had visions in my head of Cano hitting a three-run homer. Ive seen it too many times," Hughes said. "Fortunately (Fien) got him to roll over into a big double play ball there." NOTES: Minnesota is 2-11 in its last 13 road games. ... Seattle LHP JamesPaxton (back) threw a 33-pitch simulated game Tuesday and is expected to throw another this weekend before deciding if hes ready for a rehab assignment in the minors. ... Gardenhire has not decided on his starter for Friday in Colorado after RHP RickyNolasco was placed on the 15-day DL on Tuesday. ... MILWAUKEE -- RyanBraun hadnt done much except get hit by a pitch. Brian Winters Jersey . He made up for it with one swing in the bottom of the ninth. Braun was hit by a pitch in the seventh inning that scored a run and had an RBI single in the ninth, lifting the Milwaukee Brewers to a 3-2 win over the Colorado Rockies on Friday night. "I got beat up pretty good," Braun said. "Ill take it. Ill take them both." Braun thought the Rockies might pitch around him. He had already struck out twice and grounded out while JonathanLucroy had two hits and a RBI. "Typically, there is probably a higher likelihood that they pitch around me," Braun said. "I have been swinging so terribly and Luc has been swinging so great that that combination probably enticed them to at least come at me a little bit." Rockies manager Walt Weiss told reliever MattBelisle to pitch carefully to Braun, but the strategy didnt work. "Ill always take responsibility for that one," Walt Weiss said. "Could have put him on. Its a tough situation for Mattie. Hes trying to get him to expand for a couple of pitches. The ball was maybe a little up. Braun went up and got it." MarkReynolds led off the ninth with a single off Belisle (2-3) and advanced on a sacrifice by JeanSegura. ScooterGennett pinch hit for FranciscoRodriguez (3-2) and was intentionally walked. The runners advanced on a passed ball by catcher MichaelMcKenry. After RickieWeeks went down swinging, Braun drilled Belisles first pitch up the middle. "I dont think they were trying to throw it where he ended up throwing it," Braun said after collecting his first walk-off hit since 2011. JoshRutledge tied the game when he homered off Rodriguez with one out in the ninth. Rutledge hit a 3-2 pitch that just barely cleared the wall in left for his second homer this season. Rodriguez was trying to help KyleLohse win his third straight start. Lohse has been victimized by five blown saves this season. He allowed one run on seven hits over seven innings and came within two outs of beating the Rockies for the second time in five days. Sunday, he pitched five innings and allowed three runs on seven hits in the Brewers 6-5 win in Colorado. Rodriguez leads the majors with 27 saves, but this was his third blown save this season. Lohse had plenty of sympathy for Rodriguez. "I feel bad for K-Rod because hes been pitching so well, but the bottom line is we won," Lohse said. "He came in and did what he does. Ill take K-Rod closing out one of my games any time." The Brewers became the first team in the majors to record 50 wins. Their NL-leading record (50-32) is the best in team history through 82 games. They have 13 games left to top the team record of 54 wins before the All-Star game. The Brewers also improved to 5-0 in the season series with the Rockies. "Its nice to be the first one to 50 wins, for sure," Braun said. "Were excited with the way that weve played so far, but theres still a lot of baseball left." The Brewers went ahead 2-1 in the seventh. KhrisDavis doubled off NickMasset to start the inning and Reynolds followed with a walk. Both advanced on a sacrifice by Segura. When LyleOverbay was announced as the pinch hitter for Lohse, the Rockies brought in RexBrothers. The Brewers countered with MartinMaldonado, who struck out swinging. After Weeks walked, AdamOttavino came on to face Braun and hit him with the first pitch. Lucroy hit into a fielders choice for the third out. The Rockies scored their run in the seventh on a sacrifice by pinch-hitter BrandonBarnes that scored Rutledge. The Brewers scored first when Lucroy chopped an RBI single over second base off rookie TylerMatzek in the sixth. Matzek went six innings, allowing one run on five hits while striking out three. NOTES: The Rockies challenged the call when CarlosGomez was ruled safe at second in the eighth inning. The decision was reversed in under 2 minutes. . Rockies C WilinRosario, who left Thursday nights game with lower back tightness, missed the game. Weiss said that the injury was not serious, but enough to keep him out of the lineup. . Rockies RHP NolanArenado (broken left middle finger) heads to Triple-A Colorado Springs on Sunday for a rehab assignment. . TroyTulowitzkis double in the fourth was his 400th career extra-base hit. . RHP MattGarza (4-5, 3.20 ERA) faces Colorados RHP JhoulysChacin (1-6, 4.84) on Saturday. Kyle Wilson Jersey . A Los Angeles judge on Thursday said the case wont finish by Tuesday but will continue on July 21 because some lawyers for team owner Donald Sterling have personal plans. Sterling is suing to block his wifes unilateral deal to sell the team to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer. Antwan Barnes Youth Jersey . NHL hockey is returning to the Manitoba capital. The True North Sports and Entertainment group announced on Tuesday that they have completed a deal to purchase the Atlanta Thrashers and move them to Winnipeg in time for the 2011-12 season.MILWAUKEE -- Miikka Salomaki scored twice to lead the Milwaukee Admirals past the Toronto Marlies 3-2 in American Hockey League play Tuesday. Colton Sissons also scored for Milwaukee (19-12-8), which went ahead with a two-goal thhird period. Jaiquawn Jarrett Youth Jersey. Wade MacLeod and Greg McKegg replied for Toronto (23-12-4). Admirals goaltender Marek Mazanec stopped 25 shots, while Torontos Garret Sparks did what he could with a 43-save performance. cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

It appears LeBronJames isnt the only player the Cleveland Cavaliers are pursuing. Lance Briggs . According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, league sources say the Cavaliers are working on a trade to acquire forward KevinLove from the Minnesota Timberwolves but only ifthey sign James. The 61-year-old ONeill returned to management eight months after the Northern Irishman was fired by Premier League club Sunderland, while Keane has been a TV pundit since leaving as Ipswich manager in 2011. Keanes appointment is a surprise, as the outspoken former midfielder has had a volatile relationship with the Football Association of Ireland and walked out of the 2002 World Cup without kicking a ball. "Today, the FAI board is appointing two Irish legends as manager and assistant manager of our national team," FAI chief executive John Delaney said.Chicago Bears Jersey. Ireland has taken its time appointing the successor to Giovanni Trapattoni, the veteran Italian coach who left in September. It settled on two of the biggest names in Irish football. "Im the bad cop and hes the bad, bad cop," ONeill told British broadcaster ITV. "Were excited by it and Im looking forward to it greatly." SEATTLE -- JustinSmoak had already done his part by hitting a go-ahead double in the eighth inning. Tony Gonzalez Jersey . But when FernandoRodney struggled in the ninth, it was Smoak who made another huge play to keep Seattle from blowing the lead. Smoaks two-run double put his team ahead, and his diving catch of AdrianBeltres line drive in the ninth turned into a game-ending double play as the Mariners held on for a 6-5 win over the Texas Rangers on Friday night. Smoaks double was crucial. It drove in the first runs this season for Seattle in the eighth inning and sparked a four-run rally for the Mariners. But his grab in the ninth trumped what he did at the plate. Beltres ball was hit so hard, there was no time for Smoak to think. All he could do was dive, stretch and hope. "I kind of blacked out there for a second. Just jumped and stretched as far as I could stretch and it went into the glove," Smoak said. RobinsonCano had a two-run double for the Mariners, who won consecutive games for the first time since the opening week of the season. Canos double was the only time the Mariners got to Texas starter RobbieRoss Jr., but they battered reliever NealCotts (1-2) in the eighth inning, scoring four times to end the Rangers win streak at three games. With no outs and the bases loaded, Smoak avoided the temptation of two inside pitches from Cotts and worked the count full. Then he lined a pitch down the left-field line and just out of the reach of MichaelChoice, allowing Cano and pinch-runner MichaelSaunders to score the go-ahead runs. Seattle had been outscored 18-0 in the eighth inning heading into Fridays game. The Mariners had not won two straight since their three-game sweep of the Angels to open the season. The Mariners rally started thanks to Cano, who led off the eighth with a single on the first pitch. CoreyHart worked a full count before being hit on the knee by Cotts pitch -- the fourth Seattle batter to be hit by a pitch -- and Stefan Romero loaded the bases with a bunt single. Thats when Smoak came through with his fifth double. KyleSeager added an RBI single and Smoak scored on a wild pitch from AlexiOgando for a 6-3 lead. The Mariners ended up needing all those runs because although Rodney got his fourth save, he made it uncomfortable in the ninth. He loaded the bases with one out and wasnt helped when Smoak couldnt handle the relay from Cano on a possible double play early in the inning. Rodney then walked Choice and ElvisAndrus to force in runs and make it 6-5. Beltre hit a liner that appeared headed for the outfield. Smoak snared it and doubled Andrus off first to end the game. "Thats Fernando. Sometimes hes going to have you on the top step. In the end he gets it done," Seattle manager Lloyd McClendon said. "Probably not all his doing. We could have made it a lot easier for him if we turned the double play." Seattle relievers Dominic Leone and YoervisMedina (1-1) bridged the late innings after starter Roenis Elias lasted 5 2-3 innings. Leones wild pitch that allowed PrinceFielder to score with two outs in the sixth was the difference until the late rally. Ross threw six innings, giving up six hits and two runs. He has gone 84 batters without issuing a walk. His lone trouble came when he hit AbrahamAlmonte with a pitch with two outs and then gave up a single to WillieBloomquist. Cano followed by lining a double off the wall in left-centre, scoring both runners. It was his fourth double of the season and fifth extra-base hit. "Its frustrating because you want to get the guys before you have to face him," Ross said. NOTES: Texas C J.P.Arencibia snapped an 0-for-19 skid with a double leading off the third. It was his third hit of the season and first since April 6. ... Injured Seattle LHP JamesPaxton threw for the first time since straining a back muscle this month. Paxton threw from 45 feet. Injured RHP TaijuanWalker (shoulder) is expected to start throwing on Monday. ... Seattle Seahawks DE Michael Bennett threw out the ceremonial first pitch. Jacquizz Rodgers Jersey . The league announced the decision on its website Saturday, shortly before AC Milan was due to kick off against Genoa at 6 p.m. local time. The 25-year-old Morosini died about an hour earlier after suffering cardiac arrest during his teams Serie B match at Pescara. Roddy White Jersey . -- The Los Angeles Galaxy have signed coach Bruce Arena to a multi-year contract extension.Krasnaya Polyana, Russia (SportsNetwork.com) - Anton Kushnir of Belarus won gold in the mens aerials Monday at the Sochi Games, claiming his countrys second straight Olympic title in the freestyle skiing event. Belarusian skier Alexei Grishin, who won gold four years ago in Vancouver, failed to even make it to the three-round final before his compatriot Kushnir made it two straight Olympic aerials titles for the country. Kushnir had the highest-scoring jump of the day in his third attempt of the final round. His gold-winning jump earned a score of 134.50 from the judges to easily outpace silver medalist David Morris of Australia. Grishins aerials win in 2010 marked the first-ever gold medal for Belarus at the Winter Games, but the country has earned five golds in Sochi. Darya Domracheva has claimed three gold in womens biathlon and Alla Tsuper took the Olympic title in the womens aerials. The finals began with 12 skiers before the field was whittled to eight after the first jump. Only four skierrs make it to the third and final jump. Joplo Bartu Jersey. Morris final jump earned a mark of 110.41 and Chinas Jia Zongyang was third with a score of 95.06. Jias countryman Qi Guangpu finished fourth. All three skiers to make the podium in Tuesdays event were first-time Olympic medalists. After earning the last of 12 spots for the finals, American skier Mac Bohonnon was the seventh of eight skiers to move into the second jump of the finals. He had a score of 105.21 to reach the final eight, but Bohonnon failed to qualify for the third jump. The 18-year-old was fifth in the second round with a score of 113.72, leaving him 1.33 points shy of the fourth berth in the last round. Bohonnon was the lone American in the field. Jeret Peterson, who claimed silver for the U.S. in Vancouver, tragically killed himself less than 18 months after competing in 2010. Travis Gerrits was the only representative for Canada and he finished in seventh place after Bohonnon and Oleksandr Abramenko of Ukraine. cheap jerseys ' ' ' |

PARIS -- Monaco consolidated second place and put leader Paris Saint-Germains title celebrations on hold by winning 1-0 at Rennes in the French league on Saturday.Jarvis Landry Orange Jersey . PSG could have clinched the title this weekend if Monaco lost and it won on Sunday at Lyon. For now, Monaco pulled within 10 points of the leader. Emmanuel Riviere chased a through ball from Jeremy Toulalan to score with a sliding effort in the 55th minute. Riviere then had a close-range attempt diverted onto the bar by Rennes goalkeeper Benoit Costil in the 63rd. Lille kept pace with Monaco, staying six points behind in third, by edging Valenciennes 1-0. Divock Origi took a pass from Salomon Kalou to score with a low strike in the 70th minute. "It wasnt easy but the most important thing is to take the three points," Lille coach Rene Girard said. "It seemed to me that we missed a bit of gas in the tank, a bit of freshness. But the boys managed to do what they needed to do." Elsewhere, Ajaccio midfielder Mehdi Mostefa volleyed home in the 86th to salvage a draw and delay his teams relegation after Bordeaux substitute Jussie opened the scoring in the 62nd. Sochaux kept its slim hopes of safety alive by defeating Toulouse 2-0 to climb to 18th place. Jordan Ayew headed in a cross from winger Roy Contout to put the hosts ahead in the 15th before returning the favour in the 49th for Contout, who doubled the lead with a header. Evian beat Bastia 2-1 to move eight points clear of the relegation zone. Denmark international Daniel Wass scored the winner with a powerful free kick in the 48th. Vincent Aboubakar scored in stoppage time his 14th league goal in a 2-1 win over Nice to fire Lorient into the middle of the table. Gilles Sunu gave Lorient the lead in the 19th before Nice leftback Timothee Kolodziejczak levelled by converting a rebound in the 30th. On Sunday, Saint-Etienne faces Reims and Nantes hosts Guingamp. On Friday, Marseille edged Montpellier 3-2 to keep alive its slim hopes of a European spot. Lamar Miller Authentic Jersey . When a few shots broke through that defensive front, JonathanQuick was there. The Kings won the Stanley Cup two years ago with that basic formula, and they can see it clicking again as they close in on another playoff run. Ryan Tannehill Orange Jersey . David Griffin was promoted from interim GM on Monday by owner Dan Gilbert. He says Irving was not consulted on Browns future and any insinuation that he pushed to have him fired is "patently false.PHILADELPHIA - BrettLawrie is considered day-to-day with tightness in his right hamstring, an appropriate prognosis given that its the daily grind of baseball thats forcing him to take a seat. The hamstring cant heal if Lawries placing athletic demands on it every day. "Its the same as it has been," said Lawrie. "Ive been playing with this the past road trip since Kansas City and whatnot. I need to give it a little bit of time; I need to give it a couple of days. I tried to play with it and I can play with it, its just that Im not playing the way I would like to play." His leg didnt give out on him. Lawrie saw a doctor at Citizens Bank Park after leaving Mondays 3-0 win over the Phillies in the fourth inning. The hamstring needs a couple of days to, as Lawrie put it, "settle down." "We only have one off day this May and thats tough just to continuously go day after day after day on something like a hamstring," he said. "Theres no recovery time so I need some recovery time to allow it to get better. Id rather take a couple of days rather than do something really terrible and take myself out for a month and a half because obviously hamstrings are just nothing to mess around with." Lawrie has a history of muscle-related injuries, most notably his oblique problems which cost him time in each of the last two seasons. He sat out the second game of last weeks series in Kansas City with tightness in his back and often times, after games, hes essentially mummified in elastic bandages holding down ice on various parts of his body. Ive hit a point where I cant keep doing this every single day," said Lawrie. "In every game that Ive played in the last little bit it has been little things that have just grabbed on me and almost resets it a little bit and just kind of says this is how its going to be, its not better yet. That just says to me, as much as it sucks and I can play, I just cant do it the way that I want to so Id rather take a couple of days rather than do something really bad." Lawrie went 0-2 on Monday before leaving the game. He had been heating up offensively after a slow start, having had a seven-game hitting streak snapped and with mmulti-hit efforts in seven of his last 11 games. Dan Marino Elite Jersey. NAVARRO NEARING RETURN DionerNavarro pinch hit in Sundays game against the Pirates and singled. To say he moved gingerly toward first base is an understatement. Navarro was being careful with his sore right quadriceps muscle. Dont read anything into the visual. "Probably if I hit a groundball somewhere I would have gone a little bit faster but I knew I wasnt going to get to second so might as well take an extra day, it felt like I didnt do anything (Sunday)," said Navarro. "It wasnt that bad. I know it looked bad on TV but it wasnt that bad. I knew the ball was over the third basemans head, the run scored, the guy was going to get to third." Navarro left Thursday nights game in the eighth inning after aggravating his quad running the bases. Hes had hamstring problems in the past but never an issue with his quads. "We did a whole bunch of stuff, squat stuff, mobility stuff, side-to-side stuff, backward, forward, it felt great," he said. The biggest test is when we go out there and start running and see how it feels." Navarro didnt rule out a return on Wednesday, when the Blue Jays play host to the Phillies. LIND GETTING CLOSE AdamLind, rehabbing a sore back, went 3-5 with two doubles and two runs scored for Single-A Dunedin on Monday. Lind, who went on the disabled list on April 16, could be back as soon as Wednesday nights game against the Phillies in Toronto. JANSSEN TOSSES SCORELESS FRAME CaseyJanssen pitched a scoreless inning, allowing two hits, in Double-A New Hampshires Monday night game against Binghamton. It marked Janssens first appearance in his second attempt at a rehabilitation assignment coming off a strained left oblique. Janssens return isnt imminent. Hell pitch in back to back games later this week and the plan, at the moment, is for Janssen to take as much time as he needs. Remember, not only has Janssen been mostly down since suffering the oblique injury at the end of March, stiffness in the back of his shoulder limited Janssen to just three spring training appearances. He hasnt thrown much and is still in the process of regaining strength in his pitching arm. cheap jerseys ' ' ' |
