NEW YORK -- Centre Brook Lopez has broken a bone in his right foot again, leaving the Brooklyn Nets without their leading scorer as they try to turn around a disappointing season. The Nets said they would issue another update next week after consultation with their doctors. Lopez had the same injury, a fractured fifth metatarsal, when he was limited to five games in the 2011-12 season. He underwent surgery following last season to replace a bent screw in the foot. Lopez is averaging 20.7 points and 6.0 rebounds in 17 games. He has missed nine with a sprained left ankle. Though was no indication he was seriously injured Friday, when he played 44 minutes. The 7-footer from Stanford didnt miss a game during his first three seasons in the NBA, but hasnt made it through a full season since. He missed seven games last season when he sprained the same foot. The Nets are just 9-17 after entering the season with huge expectations. Does NHL need to listen carefully to Mike Richards and scrap the penalty that calls for an additional two minute penalty for instigating with a visor on? Crawford: No, the NHL regularly reviews their rules and they have that in there so players dont instigate fights and he instigated that one. It was a clean hit and he was a good teammate. Ward: Yes, youre looking at a demographic of guys that are toughest to convince to wear a visor. If this is part of their game, and I agree that fighting has a role in the game, you are trying to say to these guys be safe, protect your eyes but you cant perform the duties that you should be doing. You are sending too much of a confusing message. McKenzie: No, either you wear a visor or you dont, thats your choice. Theres the rat factor, and Mike Richards is anything but a rat, but they dont want guys who wear visors going around trying to start a bunch of fights. Whats more likely to happen, Daniel Alfredsson picking a Leaf or Zdeno Chara picking a Sedin in the All-Star Fantasy Draft? Ward: Chara picking a Sedin. The guys are aware of where the game is at, the rivalry is not lost at them and I know Chara, hell do anything to win. Crawford: Alfredsson picking a Leaf. There are only two guys on the team that were involved in the Battle of Ontario, thats over.
