KNOXVILLE, Tenn. Arian Foster Jersey . -- Auburn doesnt have to worry about passing to remain in the running for a Southeastern Conference title. Nick Marshall rushed for 214 of Auburns 444 yards Saturday as the seventh-ranked Tigers needed just nine pass attempts to roll to a 55-23 victory over Tennessee. Auburn also scored on a kickoff return and a punt return - the first time the Tigers have ever done both in the same game -- and set an NCAA single-game record by averaging 44.85 yards on seven combined kickoff and punt returns. "I still believe we can throw the football," Auburn coach Gus Malzahn said. "Theres no doubt in my mind we can, but when you dont have to, you dont." Auburn had attempted just nine passes last week in a 35-17 victory over Arkansas. Marshalls third and final pass completion Saturday was a 25-yard touchdown pass to C.J. Uzomah with 6:36 remaining in the first quarter as the Tigers (9-1, 5-1 SEC) earned their sixth straight win to remain in control of their destiny in the SEC Western Division race. Marshall ran for two touchdowns on just 14 carries and threw for a third score. Tre Mason rushed for 117 yards and three touchdowns as Auburn averaged 8.4 yards per carry and had the most yards rushing by a Tennessee opponent since Alabama ran for 457 in a 56-28 victory over the Volunteers in 1986. "They couldnt really stop the run, so we just kept our foot on their throat and just ran it down their throat," Marshall said. Chris Davis put Auburn ahead for good and broke a 13-all tie in the second quarter with an 85-yard punt return, Auburns longest since 1970 and the third-longest in school history. Corey Grant returned the second-half kickoff 90 yards for another Auburn touchdown. According to Auburns sports information department, the Tigers average of 44.85 yards on seven combined kickoff and punt returns set an NCAA single-game record, breaking the previous mark of 41.8 per return set by Florida State in a 56-21 loss to Virginia Tech in 1974. "Weve got one of the best kickers in college football, one of the best punters in college football," Malzahn said. "Now were starting to get the return game right." Rajion Neal rushed for 124 yards and Michael Palardy kicked three field goals for Tennessee (4-6, 1-5), which dropped its third straight game. The Vols must win the rest of their games to become bowl eligible and avoid their fourth consecutive losing season. Tennessee hosts Vanderbilt on Nov. 23 and closes the regular season Nov. 30 at Kentucky. Tennessee hasnt had four straight losing seasons since 1903-06. "This senior class now, theyre going to be defined by how they finish," Tennessee coach Butch Jones said. "How do they finish their careers?" Tennessee was playing its fifth straight opponent ranked 11th or higher and was facing a ranked foe for the seventh time in eight games. According to STATS LLC, Tennessee is the first team since Pittsburgh in 1993 to play seven ranked teams in an eight-game stretch within the same season. Auburn entered the day leading the SEC with 306.2 yards rushing, 69 more than anyone else in the league. Tennessee was allowing 5.1 yards per carry and a league-high 201.7 yards rushing per game. Both trends continued Saturday. Every time Tennessee seized the momentum, Auburn regained control by running the ball. "Our mindset is to score every time we touch the ball," Mason said. "We believe. And when you believe, you can achieve." After Neal broke at least three tackles on a spectacular 17-yard touchdown run in the first play of the second quarter to put the Vols ahead 13-6, Auburn tied the game less than a minute later on a two-play, 75-yard drive. Marshall started the drive with a 62-yard keeper and Mason followed by running 13 yards around the left end without getting touched. Marshall made a rare mistake when he threw an interception that Jacques Smith returned 18 yards for a touchdown that cut Auburns lead to 27-20 with 1:28 left in the half, but the quarterback redeemed himself 37 seconds later by racing 38 yards around the left end untouched for a touchdown that restored Auburns 14-point advantage. "Even when we had individuals in position, we couldnt get him down," Jones said. Tennessee also couldnt slow down Auburns returners. The Vols entered the day ranked 27th among all Football Bowl Subdivision teams in punt coverage, but they gave up two long punt returns Saturday. Davis fumbled one punt at the Auburn 15, then picked the ball up and raced down the left sideline for an 85-yard touchdown. Davis also had a 42-yard punt return that led to Auburns first touchdown of the game. Mason set up Auburns final touchdown of the first half by returning a kickoff to the Tennessee 45. Grant extended the Tigers lead to 41-20 with his 90-yard kickoff return that opened the second half. Tennessee never threatened again. Jared Crick Texans Jersey . The Blue Jackets entered this series against the Metropolitan Division champions as heavy underdogs, but they sit tied with the Penguins at two wins apiece. Columbus has arrived at this point with a pair of overtime victories, including a 4-3 triumph in Wednesdays Game 4 clash at Nationwide Arena that gave the franchise its first home playoff win. Garrett Graham Youth Jersey .C. -- Bobcats centre AlJefferson says hell play in Game 3 Saturday night against the Miami Heat.MIAMI -- Boosted by a torrid stretch at the plate, the Pittsburgh Pirates have returned to .500 again. Judging by the hitting and pitching they got on Saturday, they could have a winning record soon. AndrewMcCutchen hit a three-run homer and Jody Mercer also went deep, leading the Pirates to an 8-6 victory over the Miami Marlins. JoshHarrison and ChrisStewart had three hits apiece, and the Pirates finished with 18 overall in their sixth consecutive game in double digits. Touted rookie GregoryPolanco had two hits and two RBIs. "When you put people on base, you can do a lot," McCutchen said. "Getting on the board first definitely helps us. Weve got a lot of guys swinging the bat, basically from one to nine." The Pirates (34-34) have won four straight and five of six to get back to .500 for the first time since they were 8-8 following a victory over Milwaukee on April 17. "You believe in the talent and you believe in the guys on the team," Pittsburgh manager Clint Hurdle said. "You just dig in and you go. These guys have been resilient in challenging times." Pittsburgh right-hander CharlieMorton (4-7) pitched seven effective innings for his third consecutive win. He allowed two runs and five hits to improve to 4-1 with a 2.40 ERA in his last five starts. "Its nothing special, nothing different," Morton said. "I just go out there and do my job." MarcellOzuna and JeffBaker each hit a two-run homer for Miami in the ninth. JasonGrilli then replaced StolmyPimentel and allowed a single to RafaelFurcal before retiring ChrisJohnson for his 10th save in 13 opportunities. In the series opener Friday, the Pirates a squandered a 6-2 lead in the ninth and needed 13 innings for an 8-6 win. "Its nice to get a win though," Mercer said. "Thats all that matters. As long as were on top in the end with the third out, well take it." Mercer hit a leadofff home in the second and McCutchen connected in the fourth, making it 5-0 with a drive to left for his 11th of the season. Johnathan Joseph Texans Jersey. McCutchen extended his hitting streak to 10 games. He is hitting .439 (18 for 41) in June. "Im just getting pitches to hit and Im hitting them," he said. Marlins starter RandyWolf (1-3) allowed five runs and nine hits in four innings. "It was embarrassingly bad," Wolf said. "Its frustrating to physically feel fine but not have command of your pitches. The only thing you can do is get better, but, right now, its frustrating." McCutchen also made a sliding catch to rob Furcal of a base hit in the fifth. Furcal is 1 for 11 since rejoining the Marlins on Friday from hamstring and groin injuries that sidelined him for the teams first 65 games. Ozuna had a run-scoring triple in Miamis two-run fourth, but Pittsburgh added three more in the fifth. Mercer doubled home a run against KevinSlowey and Morton helped himself with a run-scoring sacrifice squeeze. Polanco added a run-scoring single for an 8-2 lead. "Give our offence credit for coming back there at the end," Marlins manager Mike Redmond said. "It continues to show the character of our guys - they dont quit." NOTES: Harrison missed the last two games because of left ankle discomfort. ... Pittsburgh called up veteran RHP VanceWorley from Triple-A Indianapolis so he can start on Sunday against Miami. Worley, 26, will be making his debut with the Pirates, who acquired him on March 25 from the Twins for cash considerations. He has a career record of 19-18 with a 4.05 ERA while pitching parts of three seasons with the Phillies and last year with the Twins. ... No Defoe. Nike Free 5.0 Mens sale . No Osorio. No Caldwell. No Henry. No problem. Forget any relative significance of rivalry week in Major League Soccer, or the Trillium Cup. Toronto FC provided much more substance in a hard fought 2-0 victory against the previously perfect Columbus Crew. The win was the ideal tonic for a depleted squad coming off a 3-0 loss at Real Salt Lake a week prior, which rose more than a few speculative eyebrows as to TFCs contending credentials. The negative narrative was entirely premature, with the team showing plenty of positive signs despite the ugly scoreline. Some onlookers had already written off TFCs chances before a ball was even kicked at Crew Stadium. Forget a poor all-time record in Columbus and what Toronto FC was missing Saturday; a superior work-rate and improvements in tactical execution led to a deserved three points. It was a feel good day all around, and one that can be pointed to as a clear indication the team has significant substance beyond those with Designated Player credentials. Here are my Five Thoughts on Torontos FCs 2-0 victory in Columbus. 1) Brad and Nick The names read like two members of a boy band and when announced as the centre back starters neither were music to the ears of the Toronto FC faithful. Contrary to expectations, both were outstanding and the biggest reason TFC came away with three points. The veteran Englishmen and rookie American, in front of family and friends, put on an absolute defensive clinic. Orr, naturally a right back was forced to deputize as central defender with captain Steven Caldwell out through suspension and Doniel Henry through injury. Orr led by example, vocal and positionally sound, getting stuck in with timely tackles. He amassed an incredible 17 clearances in his first full 90 minutes of action as he works his way back to fitness. His stand-out play gives the manager a decision on whether to stick with the likewise impressive Mark Bloom at right back or hand the job to Orr once the regular centre back pairing returns to action. His partner in central defence, Nick Hagglund playing in his first MLS game, hardly looked out of place. The Xavier product was steady, showing requisite physical qualities and not shirking from the monumental task at hand. The 21-year-old has good size at 61", 193 lbs and initial returns bode well for a future at the professional level. The duo gave Toronto FC killer Dominic Oduro and one of MLS top attacking players, Federico Higuain nothing to work with. Space was limited, channels were cut out and Higuain found himself dropping into deep positions to gain possession of the ball. Most important was a disciplined back-line eliminating the gaps that plagued TFC in Salt Lake. Saturday reinforces Toronto FC has more than enough depth at the back, so much so that regular centre-back from a season ago, Gale Agbossoumonde, was left as an unused substitute.2) Justin and Jackson Torontos new double J continue to be key contributors for their new team. The prior, Justin Morrow, a former MLS All-Star has arguably been Torontos most consistent player after Michael Bradley this season. Morrow is a quality MLS defender, yet his off-season arrival was completely overshadowed by the clubs big money Designated Player signings. Morrow has been every bit as important, with the 26-year-old dynamite getting forward in attack and more than capable defensively. Morrow astutely started the movement leading to Toronto FCs first goal Saturday. Although he has a tendency to leave too much room between himself and his mark, his speed and ability to read the game rarely puts him in trouble. And all it took was allocation money to pry a solid MLS defender with a manageable contract to Toronto: an absolute coup for general manager Tim Bezbatchenko. Likewise, it only took a 2015 second round draft pick and allocation money to bring the dependable midfielder Jackson to Toronto FC from FC Dallas. The back-to-back games at Real Salt Lake and Columbus, with and without the Brazilian shows how important he is to team success. Jacksons work rate was second to none in Columbus; covering an incredible amount of ground, consistently back in recovery. Some have been critical of his first touch on the ball and distribution, and hell never be a regular goal scorer from the midfield. But Jackson does enough else well to make up for any shortcomings. The outside midfield positions are where TFC has little depth. Jackson will continue to be relied upon as a steady influence. The successful courtship of the likes of Defoe and Bradley had much to do with MLSEs financial might. But the shrewd pickups of Morrow and Jackson are proving outstanding work by Bezbatchenko filling the many holes on this team with quality MLS players.3) Bradley bags his first Mr. Everything for Toronto FC added goal scoring to his already impressive resume. The 11th minute game-winner came down to an intelligent run deep inside the 18-yard box and Bradley hitting first-time on the run, keeping it low, forcing a save from the goalkeeper. Steve Clark should have done better and Bradley wont often score from such a tight angle, but the strike had pace, was hit low and hit well. The goal was the icing on the cake for another standout, Man of the Match type performance. Bradley put in 73 minutes of tireless highball pressure, setting the tone in the middle of the park. Bradley, alongside Kyle Bekker controlled the shape of the midfield, providing a more compact alignment with fewer holes than the previous week in Salt Lake, where Bradley next to Jeremy Hall were not on the same page with the defensive line behind. Bradleys performance was even more impressive coming off US Mens National team duty three days earlier, scoring a goal in 90 minutes of action against Mexico. Bradley will continue to be Toronto FCs most important player as the year rolls on.4) Getting Gilberto Going The Brazilian Designated Player continues to work hard and show glimpses, but is a step off in his MLS transition. Gilberto hasnt experienced as smooth of an adjustment to MLS life his strike mate Jermain Defoe had prior to injury. Gilberto was hampered by injury in the pre-season, and the difficulty thus far isnt entirely of his own doing. This isnt to call out Gilberto. Hes been fine. But Designated Players are expected to be another level, with money and valuable designation invested in the player. Toronto FC has to be better in distribution, bringing Gilberto into the game with superior service. Far too many times Gilberto has been engaged in aerial battles and relied upon to chase down the game. Lets see what he can do with the ball at his feet. He looks strong in stature and has good technique when on the ball. Its a matter of time, rather than if Gilberto gets going. If Defoe is out for any extended period, the team will need more from their young striker with little in terms of proven goal-scorers behind he in the pecking order.5) When hard work is good enough The entire team should be applauded for putting forth an impressive performance in Columbus. They fight for one another and appear to be playing in the mold of their manager. The aggressive, physical, relentless approach works well in MLS; a league not always predicated on consistently strong interplay. That being said, the team needs to find a way to hold on to the ball better with greater efficiency. TFC has been dominated in possession in four straight matches. Success can be found being a counter-attack team week in, week out, but its hardly sufficient to become a top MLS team. More clinical teams in front of goal and on a day Julio Cesar may not be at his best, battling against sustained pressure will be punished. These players are still relatively new to one another. But a gradual build in possession play will be expected as this team progresses. The hard work and commitment is the first step. The team has bought in. The coming weeks will be about adding polish to the finish.Toronto FC (3-0-1) hosts the Colorado Rapids (2-1-1) Saturday at BMO Field. (MLS on TSN, 4pm et/1pm pt) gareth.wheeler@bellmedia.ca (@WheelerTSN) Nike Free Run+ 2 Mens Cheap . Midfielder Michael Bradley, one of the teams new designated players, will make his debut, while striker Gilberto could see his first action for TFC in the contest. Nike Free OG UK . -- Minnesota Vikings wide receiver PercyHarvin will have minor shoulder surgery soon to address a nagging injury he played with last season. BERLIN -- Thiago Alcantara scored with an acrobatic scissor kick in injury time for Bayern Munich to beat Stuttgart 2-1 and extend its Bundesliga lead to 13 points on Wednesday. Thiago launched himself at Rafinhas cross to volley the ball inside the far corner from a difficult angle in the third minute of stoppage time in the sides rescheduled game. Bayern substitute Claudio Pizarro scored with a header from Thiagos free kick in the 76th minute, cancelling out Vedad Ibisevics 29th-minute opener for the home side. "We played a really good game and deserved at least a point," Stuttgart coach Thomas Schneider said. Stuttgart had a penalty appeal waved away in the 12th, when Timo Werners shot came back off Rafinhas arm, minutes after the 17-year-olds first effort was blocked by the scampering Bayern defence. Bayern had reason to complain about the opening goal as the offside-positioned Mohammed Abdellaoue was last to touch the ball before Ibisevic tucked it away. The visitors only real chance of the first half fell to Thiago, whose fierce efffort from distance was tipped over by Sven Ulreich. Nike Free 5.0 UK. Jerome Boateng had to clear Rani Khediras volley off the line as the home side continued to enjoy the better chances in the second half, until Bayern brought on Pizarro and Mario Mandzukic on the hour. Ulreichs outstretched leg denied Thiago in the 71st, and then Thomas Mueller three minutes later, before Pizarro finally equalized to preserve Bayerns record 43-game unbeaten run in the Bundesliga. "It felt like a win but in the end you have nothing," Stuttgart defender Konstantin Rausch said. Thiagos spectacular late winner had a championship-winning feel. Bayern has won 16 of its 18 games and drawn the other two. "When its 1-1 two minutes before the end then (winning) is always lucky," Bayern captain Philipp Lahm said. "We werent as effective as usual. But in the second half the team showed we can be patient and score at the right time." The game had been rescheduled last month to allow Bayern take part in the Club World Cup, which it won.cheap nfl jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' '

CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The Philadelphia Phillies placed RHP MikeAdams on the 15-day disabled list with inflammation in his right shoulder. Melky Cabrera Jersey . The team made the announcement after Saturdays 6-5 loss to the Cincinnati Reds. RHP Kenny Giles will be called up from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to fill Adams spot on the roster. Brad Jacobs is using the Continental Cup to make sure his team is ready for the tournament that really matters. Jacobs, who will represent Canada at the Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia next month, said hes just trying to prepare his team for curlings biggest stage. Watching what other teams are up to isnt on the Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., natives agenda. "Weve played them before," said Jacobs on Sunday. "We focus on our game. Everyones throwing the rock well right now, thats the main thing for our team. I really like what I see as skip from the other end. "Its really nice to be here playing on this great ice surface in really serious competition that everyones trying their hearts out at." Jacobs skipped Team North America to a second straight Continental Cup championship with a 36-24 win over Thomas Ulsruds Team World. Team North America won the winners cheque of $52,000 and a bonus of $13,000 for collecting the most points in the skins game Sunday, while the World team took home $26,000. The victory was clinched in the sixth end when Ulsrud missed his final shot, giving Team North America a 4-1 win, and the half-point it needed to push it to the 30-point threshold in the overall standings. Jacobs was joined at the Continental Cup on the womens side by Winnipegs Jennifer Jones, who will also go to Sochi for Canada. "I really dont know what to expect in Sochi," said Jacobs. "For this event the crowds and everything, phenomenal. Obviously the arena, I dont think is as big as this one over at the Olympics. Theres a lot of Canadians here, its really made this event a huge success so far." Jacobs may not have been focusing on the competition but at least one of his opponents made sure to watch what Canada was doing. Ulsrud, of Norway, captured silver at the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver. He said it was beneficial to play the Olympic ccontenders. Avisail Garcia Jersey. . "The Canadian team are obviously a really good team, but were going to have to make them work for it Sochi when they meet Norway," said Ulsrud. "We couldnt have asked for more or for it (the week) to go any better," said Jones. "We just feel real good with the ice and how were playing heading into Sochi." But with the different format at the Continental Cup, Jones added she didnt get many new tips about her Olympic opponents. "We know these teams really well. You know what to expect and you know youre going to have to play great to beat them," said Jones. "Weve been training really well and feel like everythings going according to plan which is exactly what you want it to be heading into the Olympics." Scotlands David Murdoch called it "quite unique" to see Olympic teams so close to the Games. "You want to make sure youre throwing it nice and try to take some good form into the Olympics," said Murdoch. Eve Muirhead, who won gold for Scotland at last years womens world championship and will skip for Great Britain in Sochi, credited ice technician Hans Wuthrich for simulating the conditions at Sochi. "Youve got Hans making the ice, the same icemaker who is going to be at the Olympics," she said. "This was fantastic prep for the Games." Muirheads Team World lost 3-2 on Sunday to Team North America, skipped by Erika Brown of Oakville, Ont./Madison, Wisc. Brown will represent the United States in Sochi. The Continental Cup features six teams from North America facing off against six World teams in various curling matches including traditional games, mixed doubles, singles and skins play. In the mixed skins game, Team North Americas Jeff Stoughton, Emma Miskew, Mark Nichols and Lisa Weagle rolled to a 4-1 win over Team Worlds David Murdoch, Satsuki Fujisawa, Scott Andrews and Miyo Ichikawa. cheap nfl jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' '

TylerBozak and DaveBolland have accounted for 65 per cent of all Toronto Maple Leafs faceoffs thus far this season. Yadier Molina Cardinals Jersey . With the pair of centres on the shelf for the immediate future, the team is searching for options to carry the load. Bozak has been out since incurring a hamstring injury in a loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets on October 25. He was placed on long-term injured reserve and isnt eligible to return until November 21st when the Leafs take on the New York Islanders. Bolland underwent surgery for a torn tendon in his left ankle after ZackKassians skate blade cut it during a collison in Saturday nights loss to the Vancouver Canucks. There is no timetable set for his return. In their absences, regular centres NazemKadri, JayMcClement and TrevorSmith will see an increased workload, while JamesvanRiemsdyk, almost exclusively employed as a winger in his time with the Leafs, will shift to centre a line in between PhilKessel and JoffreyLupul. The 24-year-old van Riemsdyk played centre for two years at the collegiate level with the University of New Hampshire, but has NHL experience is limited. Compounding the issue of using van Riemsdyk in the circle is that he is left-handed. Because of this, its not inconceivable that Lupul could step in on the draws depending on the situation. Barring an acqusition from outside the organization to shore up the position, the team could turn to their AHL-affiliate Toronto Marlies for help. JerredSmithson,a veteran of 588 NHL games with a career face-off percentage of just under 55 per cent, signed with the team on Wednesdayand could be brought up to the big club. In more positive injury-related news for the team, MarkFraser is ready to return. The defenceman has been sidelined with a knee injurysustained in only thesecond game of the season after a hit from the Philadelphia Flyers JayRosehill. "If it was up to me, Id like to play this weekend, hopefully on Friday," said Fraser on Wednesday. "Today was my best day yet as far as conditioning went and comfort with no pain. It was a true test as as good as Ive felt so far." Leafs coach Randy Carlyle was noncommittal as to when the club would dress Fraser. "We have decisions to make and hes not any different than any other time than when we have extra bodies," said Carlyle after Wednesdays practice. "Youre going to make the decision that you feel is best for your hockey club, give you the best chance to win." The Leafs are next in action on Friday night when they host the New Jersey Devils in the Hall of Fame game. Pat Neshek Cardinals Jersey . Instead, Lacob told KNBR-680 that the Warriors are "planning on full steam ahead in 18." EAST RUTHERFORD, N. Nike Air Max 90 Essential Damen .J. -- New York Giants running back DavidWilson has not been cleared for contact work and probably wont be before training camp begins in late July. The third-year running back underwent a CT scan Wednesday on his neck, in which he suffered a herniated disk last October. Giants team physician Dr. Russell Warren told the teams website that Wilson has made significant progress. "But the reality is it has only been 4 1-2 months since the surgery," Warren said. "We anticipate that when David is re-evaluated at the start of training camp, he will be cleared at that point." New York opens training camp July 21, an early start because the Giants will play Buffalo in the Hall of Fame Game on Aug. 3. The Giants first-round draft choice in 2012, Wilson was hurt against the Eagles, was inactive for three games and then was placed on injured reserve. He underwent spinal fusion surgery on Jan. 16. "Everything I got this morning was good news -- there was nothing bad or negative," Wilson said. "Im very pleased and very blessed for my healing process to continue." Wilson has worked briefly at the Giants organized team activities. "When the defence is on the field, thats the only time Im not participating," he said. "I can do anything and everything thats asked of me at this point. Im removed when its defence vs. offence so as not to have an accident. Im catching passes, taking handoffs from the quarterbacks and getting reps with the offence without the defence. "Theres no need to have contact. We want to wait until its fused all the way ... we dont have full contact in OTAs, anyway. We dont have pads on. "As long as Im getting my mental reps, I think the coaches believe in my athletic ability to take over after that and Ill be just fine." Nike Air Max 90 Damen Reduziert . Tuesday nights 5-3 victory over the Boston Red Sox fit that category perfectly. MichaelBourns two-run double in the seventh inning snapped a 3-all tie and extended Clevelands winning streak to a season-high five straight games. CHICAGO -- Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder MarkTrumbo will be sidelined for an extended period of time because of a stress fracture in his left foot.Wholesale Jerseys . Manager Kirk Gibson said Trumbo will get a second opinion from Dr. Michael Lee in Arizona before a timetable for his return is determined. An MRI taken Wednesday revealed the injury after an X-ray showed no structural damage. The MRI also revealed some plantar fasciitis, which Trumbo had been dealing with since spring training. Trumbo wasnt sure how the stress fracture developed but thought he was overcompensating due to the plantar fasciitis. Trumbo is hitting .210, though he was tied for the National League lead with seven home runs and was second with 19 RBIs before Wednesdays game against the Chicago Cubs. Trumbo said he first experienced pain relating to the stress fracture when he ran to the outfield in the bottom of the seventh inning Monday against the Cubs. But couldnt pinpoint what specifically caused the injury. "The plantar (fasciitis) at times has been pretty bad but manageable," Trumbo said. "Thats what you have to do. Youve got to earn a living and play. This was to the point where I severely had to compensate running-wise to the point where I probably wouldnt be much of an asset on either side." Trumbo suffered a stress fracture to his right foot at the end of the 2011 season and needed 5 1/2 months to heal. He does not expect to need as much recovery time with this injury. PITTSBURGH -- JamesNeal saw the puck roll to the corner and sprinted to dig it out. David Harris Womens Jersey . The sight of hockeys most intimidating player standing in his way hardly mattered. The Pittsburgh Penguins forward shoved Boston defenceman ZdenoChara -- all 6-foot-9 of him -- in the back then nudged the puck to teammate EvgeniMalkin. The NHLs leading scorer fed MattNiskanen at the point, and when Niskanens slap shot hit the back of the net the leagues hottest team was on its way to a 5-2 win. "We wanted to get on (Chara) and be physical and affect him as much as possible," Neal said. "We did a good job at that from the first shift on." Neal finished with three points -- including his first goal since signing a $30-million contract extension last month -- for the Penguins, who have won nine straight to keep the pressure on the Eastern Conference-leading New York Rangers. ChrisKunitz, ArronAsham, PascalDupuis and Niskanen also scored for Pittsburgh while Malkin had three assists to move into the NHL points lead with 84, two ahead of Tampa Bays StevenStamkos. Malkin also became the 17th Russian-born player to top 500 career points, though he was hardly concerned with the milestone. "I not think about my points now," Malkin said. "The season continues and playoffs come soon." And Pittsburghs post-season prospects appear to be improving by the day. The Penguins started the day four points behind the New York Rangers for the Atlantic Division lead and could get captain SidneyCrosby back by Thursday, when they start a pivotal three-game road trip at Madison Square Garden. Crosby hasnt played since concussion-like symptoms returned in early December but was cleared for contact last week and said on Saturday playing soon is a possibility. Whenever he comes back, Crosby will join a team thats starting to look like a Stanley Cup contender even without the former MVPs talents. Marc-AndreFleury stopped 34 shots to run his personal winning streak to eight, as the Penguins jumped on the Bruins early. DavidKrejci scored twice for Boston, but the Penguins chased TimThomas after the first period. The two-time Vezina Trophy winner stopped just seven of the 10 shots he faced before making way for MartyTurco. "I think it was a good opportunity for Marty to go in," Boston coach Claude Julien said. "When youre down by three goals against Pittsburgh, give the guy an opportunity. I wanted to see how he responded. Tims has played a lot lately. It was an opportunity to give him some rest." Something the defending Stanley Cup champions need. Pittsburghs winning streak is the second-longest in the league this season behind a 10-game run the Bruins put together in November. The Bruins have been stuck in a holding pattern since that streak ended Nov. 23, unable to play with any kind of consistency. They appeared to be ready to bust out of their funk last week with wins over Toronto and Buffalo, but the momentum evaporated in a span of 28 hours. The Bruins let enigmatic Washington race to a quick two-goal lead and hold on for a 4-3 victory on Saturday afternoon in Boston before hopping on a plane to Pittsburgh to prep for a game that was moved up seven hours to accommodate national television. The sluggishness showed during Pittsburghs dominant first period. The Penguins attacked from the opening faceoff, winning every important puck battle while slapping the Bruins around. "We came out as physical as we have been in a long time," Pittsburgh coach DanBylsma said. "It had an effect early on. One of the things we were wanting to do is establish our offensive zone from a physicality standpoint." Ashams fourth goal of the season came after one such victory, as CraigAdams dug the puck out of the corner then passed it to BenLovejoy at the point. Lovejoys slapshot was blocked, but Asham pounced on the rolling puck and beat Thomas with ease less than four minutes in. Niskanens goal came in much the same fashion thanks to Neal and Malkins hard work in the corner against Chara. By the time Neal netted his 31st goal of the season on the power play with 1:18 left in the first the Penguins were in complete control. "We were caught chasing a two-goal deficit before the game even started," Boston forward ShawnThornton said. "Really it wasnt for lack of effort, just bad bounces ... but for the last 40 minutes we played a solid game even with a short bench." By then, however, it was too late though Turco did his best to pick up his teammates. The 36-year-old veteran played in Austria this winter before the Bruins signed him last week to replace injured backup TuukkaRask. Turcos appearance was the first for Boston by a goaltender other than Thomas or Rask since MannyFernandez took the ice for Boston in 2009. Turco let in an early goal by Kunitz but was sharp otherwise, making a sprawling save on JordanStaal a few minutes after entering, and the Bruins seemed to settle down. "It was good to get in there," Turco said. "Every minute I felt a little better and more comfortable." Boston closed with 4-2 midway through the second period on Krejcis second goal but Fleury made sure the Bruins would get no closer and Dupuis 18th goal of the season late in the third period gave Pittsburgh extra breathing room. NOTES: Boston D AdamMcQuaid and forwards Max Sauve and PatriceBergeron all left with injuries but Julien said they didnt appear to be serious. ... Pittsburghs winning streak is the franchises longest since 12 straight during the 2010-11 season ... Staal assisted on Dupuis third-period goal to extend his points streak to a career-best seven games. Joe Namath Jersey . The solutions? Not so much. Given an extra week to stew over the worst start in 45 years, Tomlin is tweaking the lineup hoping to find a spark that will help his team begin the long road back to respectability. Sheldon Richardson Jersey . Reassurance came from Paul Tesori, his caddie and close friend whose newborn son is in intensive care in a Florida hospital. "Paul sent me a text this morning, just told me he loved me and wanted to go out and fight as hard as I would any other day," Simpson said Sunday after doing just that.GOODYEAR, Ariz. - The Indians are going down a familiar path with a star pitcher. Cleveland has suspended talks on a contract extension with ace JustinMasterson, agreeing that its time to focus on the upcoming season. Indians general manager Chris Antonetti said Friday that the club made a "very competitive" offer to Masterson, but the sides couldnt find common ground. Negotiations broke down with agent Randy Rowley on Thursday. "I met with Justin this morning," Antonetti said. "At this point we both agreed to table discussions on a multiyear contract and potentially revisit it down the road. But right now the focus will be on preparing for the season." Masterson, who avoided arbitration and agreed to a one-year, $9.726 million salary for 2014, can become a free agent after the season. The right-hander is scheduled to pitch on opening day against Oakland on March 31. Antonetti said the sides may discuss a new deal at a later unspecified time. "We made an earnest effort to find common ground and get something done. In the end we werent able to align," Antonetti said. "We have a profound belief in Justin. He embodies everything we want our players to be. Hes a great teammate, a great person and an exceptional performer. "There remains a desire from our side that he remains here long term. I believe hed like to be here long term." Masterson reportedly gave the Indians proposals on two- and three-year contracts at roughly $17 million per season. The Indians are believed to have offered packages at $14 million per year. The 6-foot-6, 250-pound Masterson is scheduled to pitch on Friday against Colorado. The situation isnt a new one for the Indians, who were unable to reach long-term deals in the past with CCSabathia and CliffLee and were forced to trade the former Cy Young Award winners. Masterson emerged as the staffs No. 1 starter last season, when he went 14-10 with a 3.45 ERA. He made the All-Star team for the first time. Its the Indians preference not to negotiate any player contracts during the season, the team is aware of fan reaction concerning the teams long-term goals. "We are fortunate that Justin is here for this season," Antonetti said. "There willl be other junctures where we can explore an extension with him its just not right now. Darrelle Revis Jersey. . We dont want any distractions but if there is a right time to talk about it, were open to it." The Indians signed outfielder MichaelBrantley to a four-year, $25 million contract last month. Theyve had preliminary talks with All-Star second baseman JasonKipnis about an extension, and they could be facing a decision with shortstop AsdrubalCabrera, who is in the final year of his contract. Antonetti said the six-year, $105 million contract pitcher HomerBailey signed with Cincinnati has an influence on the teams talks with Masterson. Bailey is 24-22 the last two seasons while Masterson is 25-25. "Thats one of the contract extensions thats in the marketplace," Antonetti said. "We are very cognizant of that contract but there are others. We made an earnest effort to offer Justin a contract that was fair relative to the marketplace, but we didnt attach it, nor do we ever, attach it to any one contract specifically." Antonetti would not discuss the possibility of a new deal for Kipnis. Manager Terry Francona does not expect the breakdown of negotiations to negatively affect Masterson or his teammates. "It wont affect his performance," Francona said. "I dont know how it doesnt affect you. Its a big part of your life, but I think Mastys got his act together. Ive never seen someone who had his priorities together as much as Masty." Francona believes there will be discussion in the clubhouse, but believes his team will stay focused. "I bet the guys will be bummed out a little. I think they all like him and Chris (Antonetti) wanted to get it done or he wouldnt have tried but it doesnt carry over," he said. "Thats the way the game is. Thats why they set the deadline, lets not let this go into the season. "Realistically, you cant sign everybody you want to or everybody would be signed. For the Indians to be talking to him about that type of money, shows how much they like him," he added. "Just because you dont get a deal done doesnt mean you dont respect or care about that player. It has to fit into the parameter of the team." cheap nfl jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' '

To figure out two things NHL general managers will be discussing at their annual March meeting, look no further than the controversial game the Los Angeles Kings and Detroit Red Wings played in mid-January. Dennis Byrd Womens Jersey . First, the Red Wings scored the tying goal after officials missed the puck hitting the protective netting, then the Kings wound up losing in a shootout. That could affect playoff positioning in the Eastern and Western Conferences, and thats a concern for everyone. No different than many fans, GMs hate to see a game end on an incorrect call and generally dont like to see one end in a shootout. So its only natural that altering or extending overtime and expanding video review will be hot topics on the agenda for meetings Monday through Wednesday in Boca Raton, Fla. When it comes to overtime, the hope is to have fewer games even reach the shootout, which was instituted after the 2004-05 lockout as a way of eliminating ties. Since then, 13.3 per cent of all regular-season games have gone to one, and thats seen as too much. "I would prefer for our game to be decided by playing hockey instead of the skill part of the game, which is the shootout," Jim Nill of the Dallas Stars said. "Its really tough. You can play a great game, play a great overtime and then you go to a shootout and just because you lose a shootout it feels like youve lost the game -- and you have, and it hurts because you played such a good game. I would rather lose a game by playing the game." Through Saturday, 121 of 962 games this season have gone to a shootout (12.57 per cent). Each team has participated in at least four, while the Washington Capitals lead the league with 15 of them through 64 games. A handful of general managers said in recent weeks that there was an appetite to reduce the number of shootouts by making some changes to overtime. Detroit GM Ken Holland has long sought adding time or a three-on-three element to overtime, and it has come time that Don Maloney of the Phoenix Coyotes figures more members of the group are "open-minded to reviewing it and discussing it." "In the past, it was generally touched on but deferred," Maloney said. "And I think as you go on with the parity of the league, I think we all have to take a harder look." Jim Rutherford of the Carolina Hurricanes usually sits near Holland at these meetings and is in favour of his proposals to change overtime. After plenty of talk over the years, perhaps more will get on board. "I think were heading that way," Rutherford said. "Its been talked about a long time, this is not something new. I dont know how many minutes itll end up being -- the total minutes in overtime. Thats really where the big discussion will come. But I think the fact that this has been discussed for a few years now, I think its gaining some momentum going into this meeting." What that momentum will turn into remains to be seen. Rutherford and Holland would like five minutes of the already-established four-on-four followed by five minutes of three-on-three, while Doug Armstrong of the St. Louis Blues voiced support for simply making four-on-four overtime longer. But, as Doug Wilson of the San Jose Sharks knows, change in the NHL tends to go in "phases." So its possible that the first change to overtime is a very subtle one: teams changing ends like they do in the second period so that theres a longer way to go for players to get off the ice for line changes. "I would be a hundred per cent in support," Maloney said. "If you look at the second period and the (long) line changes how often mistakes are made, and bad line changes lead to rushes. All of a sudden you do that in overtime with four people and the tiredness of the game, I think thats a natural evolution, myself. I think thats the first step." Red Wings coach Mike Babcock brought that up in Sochi after seeing overtime in the womens gold-medal game between Canada and the United States. Mistakes led to three penalties and then a power-play goal 8:10 into overtime. "The NHL looks at that right there, we want overtime to be over in a hurry, all you do is flip ends, make it as hard as you can," Babcock said while at the Olympics. "Its harder on the long change." Another subject that will get plenty of discussion is video review, which is currently limited to the situation room in Toronto determining if a goal was good or not. Even though it was just one instance, that Jan. 18 game between the Red Wings and Kings is example A for expanding review. "You can count on one hand how many times they miss a puck hitting the net, but that specific case and it ended up as a goal, yeah, it probably shouldve been (reviewed) -- maybe if the video department had that authority, it wouldve been used," Maloney said. "And I think we all agree that in that case that was just wrong, and we need to correct that." Several general managers cautioned that too much replay can be a bad thing. Just as its being debated in baseball and football, the biggest pitfall to more video reviews is the time they can take. "Our game is part of momentum and keeping the game going," Rutherford said. "But at the same time, the league has always said that they want to get goals right. We saw an example (in Detroit) where it had nothing to do with the guidelines of how the league proceeds, but we didnt get one right. "So thats something that well discuss, Im sure. But theres a fine line there: How many times can you review things in a game without slowing it down to change the time of a game another 15 minutes." In that same vein, Nill would like to see "tweaks" to video review in important cases but doesnt want the NHL to become a "robotic" game with frequent calls to the situation room. Still, theres a ground swell to at least add replay in isolated cases, like on plays goals are scored on. That may not mean instituting a challenge system for coaches right away but perhaps something more simple. "It would be nice to just have a monitor in the penalty box for the official to gather as much information to make the right call because theyre closest to the action like they have in other leagues," Wilson said, pointing to the model used in the NFL and NBA. Some things, like goaltender interference, would require a stricter interpretation to be subject to video review. Penalties, like players putting the puck over the glass or getting a double-minor called for high-sticking, would fall into another category to be considered. "I think everything thats critical to the outcome of the game, if its conveniently available, we should review," Columbus GM Jarkko Kekalainen said. "Not to disturb the flow of the game and the time of each game as a whole -- we dont want games to last four hours or anything like that. But with the technology these days I think that there should be some kind of a system where all the critical plays can be reviewed so that we dont see the (wrong) outcomes." With three days of meetings scheduled on Floridas east coast, general managers are expected to delve into a host of other topics, including the regulation -- or elimination -- of goaltender fights and the impact of the falling Canadian dollar on next years salary cap. At Decembers board of governors meeting, the 2014-15 cap was estimated at just above US$71 million, rising from the $64.3 million ceiling for this season. Kings GM Dean Lombardi told the Los Angeles Times that he and his colleagues were advised it could be as low as $US68 million as the Canadian dollar continues to fall. As of Saturday, the loonie was worth roughly 90 cents U.S., after being above 95 cents midway through 2013. Goalie fighting is expected to at least be touched on after it was broached at Novembers meeting in Toronto that followed the infamous incident between RayEmery of the Philadelphia Flyers and BradenHoltby of the Capitals. Rutherford and Maloney indicated they believed the issue was a bit overblown at the time. "Really theyre so rare, arent they? That was an isolated (incident)," Maloney said. "If we start to see goalie fights every other game, yeah, OK, maybe theres a problem. I dont see it being a problem. That was a one-time incident that nobody liked, but I think our officials and the people that review the games, they do a pretty good job of cleaning up anything thats outside the rules. So I dont see a real mandate to start over-regulating the game in that area." LaDainian Tomlinson New York Jets Jersey . Aduriz headed home Markel Susaetas cross in the sixth minute to open the scoring at San Mames Stadium. He bettered that with a long-range blast that went in off the goal frame in the 18th, and converted a penalty in the 72nd after Diego Mainz was sent off for fouling Aduriz with only the goalkeeper to beat. Nick Mangold New York Jets Jersey . A stick in the gut prevented him from getting off a clean drive, but it earned him the first penalty shot of his career. He converted, and PatriceBergeron also scored a short-handed goal on Thursday night as the Bruins opened the defence of their Eastern Conference championship with a 3-1 victory over the Lightning.AGADIR, Morocco - Charley Hull of England closed with a 9-under 62 and won a playoff on the first extra hole on the Ladies European Tour for her first professional victory one week before her 18th birthday. The win in the Lalla Meryem Cup completed an amazing year for the English teenager. She had five runner-up finishes, became the youngest member of Europes winning Solheim CCup team and was rookie of the year on the tour. Curtis Martin Womens Jersey. OTTAWA -- The Ottawa Redblacks lumberjack mascot finally has a name. jerseys from china . The CFL expansion team announced Friday its mascot will go by the handle of "Big Joe Mufferaw." The Redblacks received a number of online suggestions from fans, most of whom wanted the CFL clubs mascot named after late Ottawa storyteller Bernie Bedores character. "Our fans spoke and we listened," said Jeff Hunt, the president of the Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group, which owns the Redblacks. "We heard that fans loved the look of our mascot and hundreds said he had to be Big Joe Mufferaw. "We like that name too because it reminds us of our citys past and fits so well into the branding of our football team." Hunt said he connected with Bedores family about using the name. Bedore wrote several books aimed at youngsters that illustrated the tall-tale lumberjacking exploits of Big Joe Mufferaw. "Were delighted to continue dads legacy through a new series of books for kids," said Judy Bedore, the late storytellers daughter. "This initiative will bring Big Joe Mufferaw and the history of the lumber industry in our region into the hearts and minds of a new generation of young people for years to come." Big Joe Mufferaw was also immortalized in a famous song from Canadian country-folk legend Stompin Tom Connors. The U. cheap nfl jerseys .S. soccer team started 2015 the same way the Americans ended last year: with a loss.Mark Gonzalez scored in the 66th and 75th minutes, rallying Chile to a 3-2 exhibition win over the U.S. on Wednesday night that sent the Americans to their first five-game winless streak since 2007.The 27th-ranked Americans led 2-1 at halftime on goals by Brek Shea in the sixth minute and Jozy Altidore in the 31st around Roberto Gutierrezs 10th-minute equalizer at Rancagua, Chile.Altidore was recently transferred to Toronto FC of Major League Soccer. After the World Cup, a lot of players dropped their levels 30, 40 per cent when they came back from vacation, U.S. coach Jurgen Klinsmann said. It doesnt matter if theyre in Europe or in the U.S., you cant do that. At the international level, you get exposed after minute 65, 70 if you cant go the speed anymore both ways. So theres a lot of work ahead of us, ahead of the players. Most Americans had not played in a game since at least November. They started training on Jan. 12 in Carson, California, where they play Denmark on Feb. 8.Still getting the legs back, still getting the sharpness back, Altidore said. I dont think we should hold our heads down too long.Klinsmann unveiled a 3-5-2 formation, and the Americans switched to a 4-4-2 in the second. Theyve been outscored 9-0 in the second half of their last six matches.I think we learned a lot and we can use it in the future, Shea said. With the defeat to No. 14 Chile, the Americans have lost three straight games for the first time since late 2009 and early 2010, and they have one victory in nine matches (1-5-3) since beating Ghana in their World Cup opener last June. The physical side of it made kind of a turn towards the negative for us, and thats a bummer, but its understandable, Klinsmann said. Both teams were missing nearly all Europe-based players because the match was not on a FIFA fixture date.D.C. United defender Steve Birnbaum made his U.S. national team debut, starting at right back. Two other players entered in the second half for their first international appearances: Columbus defender Wil Trapp in the 60th and Los Angeles Galaxy forward Gyasi Zardes in the 68th.Any time you get to play for your country, its awesome, Birnbaum said.Jermaine Jones played centre back in front of goalkeeper Nick Rimando and Matt Besler on the left. Mix Diskerud and TFCs Michael Bradley were in defensive midfield, and Clint Dempsey in the centre of attacking midfield, with wingbacks DeAndre Yedlin on the right and Shea on the left. Altidore and Bobby Wood started at forward.Shea and Altidore returned to Major League Soccer this month following struggles in England. Shea signed with expansion Orlando after appearing in just three league and two League Cup games for Stoke over the previous two years. Altidore joined Toronto following an awful 1 1/2 years at Sunderland, where he scored one goal in 40 league appearances with the Black Cats.Shea scored his third international goal and first since the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Besler played in a longball and Shea ran on to it, letting it bounce three times before beating goalkeeper Johnny Herrera with a left-footed angled shot from about 11 yards.Gutierrez tied the score when he split Jones and Besler to beat Rimando with a glancing header from 7 yards off Gonzalezs cross.Altidore put the U.S. back ahead with his 26th international goal. Yedlin, who joined the team in South America following his first few weeks of training with Tottenham, made a short throw in to Mix Diskerud. He exchanged passes with Yedlin, and Diskerud crossed for Altidore, who scored with his right foot from 10 yards.Bradley nearly extended the lead to two goals in the 61st with a 23-yard shot that hit the intersection of the crossbar and a post.Gonzalez then scored with an angled 7-yard shot and got the go-ahead with a shot that may have deflected off a foot of Birnbaum and past Rimando, who had dived to parry a 25-yard initial shot by Marco Medel. You want to win, Altidore said, but I think the base is there for a good year. cheap jerseys from china . "We played a lot better in the second half after getting off to a sluggish start. We didnt really make the other team make too difficult shots." Both teams stuck to defence, and after eight ends the score was tied 3-3. Switzerland scored two in the ninth, but Calvert was able to force the extra end with a perfect draw for two on his last shot of the 10th.In the extra end, Switzerland missed a couple of tick shots, allowing Canada to draw around and lie one. "It was so close in the end, maybe just a few centimetres in it, just crazy. We played really defensively, that was the key to winning. Canadian curling always involves a lot of stones and guards - we wanted to play defensively and not play their game."Tuesday afternoon, Schwaller will play Norways Eirik Mjoeen, who lost to Scotlands Kyle Smith in the Page 1-2 playoff game. Smith goes directly to Wednesdays final, where he will try to defend his 2013 world junior championship title.Canada will face the loser of the semifinal between Norway and Switzerland in the bronze medal game on Wednesday at 7am et/4am pt, and Calvert says the Canadians will be ready."I think well get rested and fired up to play the bronze medal game," he said. cheap nfl jerseyscheap jerseys ' ' '

MINSK, Belarus -- In winning its group at the world hockey championship, Team Canada beat goaltenders Jan Laco, Jakub Kovar, Patrick Galbraith, Daniel Bellissimo, Anders Nilsson and Steffen Soberg. wholesale jerseys . None of them are Finlands Pekka Rinne, who stands as Canadas biggest challenge in Thursdays quarter-final round. Even while a young Finnish team has struggled with penalties, turnovers and a lack of offensive depth, Rinne has been a rock with a 1.65 goals-against average, .929 save percentage and two shutouts. "Pekka is our most important player -- absolutely," coach Erkka Westerlund said Wednesday. "We built our whole system so that goalkeeping is No. 1, and then we try to build the strength (of) defence in front of him. Thats how it is, (how) hockey works." Westerlund said he was not yet satisfied with his teams defensive play but expects improvement. Even if that doesnt happen, Finland has a good chance in Canada if for no other reason than Rinne. Fortunately for the Finns, Rinne is not experiencing any injury problems after missing four months of the Nashville Predators season with a hip infection. Naturally, it took a while for him to get back to feeling right. "Its a process, and I think even when I came here (to Minsk) I thought that hopefully I can improve all the time and I didnt maybe feel 100 per cent," Rinne said. "But now I do, and Im really happy and I feel like my game has been getting better and (Im) just feeling more comfortable." Rinne is playing with confidence and instilling it in his teammates, only six of whom are back from the Sochi Olympics, where Finland won a bronze medal. Tuukka Rask and Kari Lehtonen were the goalies then, but as former Toronto Maple Leafs forward Leo Komarov pointed out, the best thing about his country is knowing there will always be great goaltending. Still, this isnt the Olympics. "Its a different roster, its a different tournament," said Komarov, who repeated his desire to return to the NHL last season. "Its a new day, a new life." But the same, old, reliable Rinne. Canadian defenceman Ryan Ellis knows all about that from parts of three seasons as a Predators teammate of Rinnes. Unlike a lot of other goaltenders, Ellis said Rinne doesnt let game action detract from his practices. "Every day, every practice its like a game," Ellis said. "He tries so hard in net in practice. I remember by first couple years there, I dont think I scored him in the first 10 or 15 practices. And then every time I did, I was pretty impressed with myself, pretty happy." Ellis said Canada was less concerned with how they were going to score on Rinne and more worried about his puck-handling thwarting attack time. "Hes active back there with the puck, so I think the biggest thing that were focused on is keeping the pucks away from him on dumps and stuff," Ellis said. "He gets out to play them a lot. Getting them in the glass and try to get them out of his reach." Thats especially important to a Canadian team that tries to play a hard, North American style on the bigger, international ice surface. Canada has succeeded at holding on to the puck to create chances and through seven games has averaged 34 shots a game. The strategy against Rinne is the same as many other elite goaltenders. "Were going to have to get pucks and traffic to the net," Ellis said. "Its tough for goalies when they get that kind of presence in front of him. Weve got some big guys, so hopefully we can get those guys going." Whether that happens or Rinne keeps rolling will go a long way to determining whether Canada has a date with the United States or Czech Republic in Saturdays semifinals. Westerlund said the Finns "dont have pressure (because) we are underdogs." Thats true. But Rinne still displays big-game confidence. "Im feeling good and Ive been enjoying hockey," Rinne said. "I think thats the biggest thing, when youre just having fun and just letting it go. Just dont think about anything, just play, and I feel like Ive been doing that." jerseys from china . Recker hit a tiebreaking, three-run homer, Jonathon Niese pitched seven sharp innings and the New York Mets beat the Philadelphia Phillies 5-3 Monday. Recker was in an 0-for-18 skid when he connected off reliever JustinDeFratus, who had retired 17 straight batters before allowing a single to the first batter he faced after replacing David Buchanan in the seventh. "It felt great. I needed it real bad," Recker said. The backup catcher is from nearby Allentown, but his family and friends didnt see him play this weekend. "They were here (Sunday)," Recker said. "They came to the wrong game." DarinRuf hit a two-run shot for the last-place Phillies. Niese (6-8) gave up two runs on five hits to earn his first win since June 28. The lefty was 0-4 with a 6.04 ERA in his previous five starts. "It seems that I lose with my good stuff and win with my bad stuff," Niese said. Buchanan (6-6) allowed three runs and four hits in six-plus innings. Buchanan ran into trouble when he walked JuanLagares to start the seventh. MattdenDekker lined an RBI double to right-centre to tie it at 2. De Fratus entered and gave up a single to WilmerFlores. "That late in a game, you cant walk guys to start an inning," Buchanan said. Recker then hit a full-count fastball 424 feet into the left-centre field stands to make it 5-2. With two outs in the Phillies ninth, pinch-hitter ChaseUtley lined a 1-2 pitch off JeurysFamilia deep to right. A fan reached over with his cap and lifted the ball into the air and into the stands. The hit was initially ruled a two-run homer, but was overturned to an RBI double following a replay. BenRevere then flied out to end it. The Mets took three of four in the wraparound series and are 13-3 in their last 16 games in Philadelphia. The Phillies bullpen had allowed one earned run in 24 2-3 innings before Recker, a .187 hitter, took De Fratus deep. DanielMurphy led off the fourth with a double to right and DavidWright followed with an RBI single up the middle to give the Mets a 1-0 lead. cheap jerseys. TRAINERS ROOM Mets: Manager Terry Collins said closer JenrryMejia will continue to pitch despite a hernia. Rookie right-hander Jacob deGrom is likely headed to the disabled list because of tendinitis in his shoulder. He was examined in New York on Monday after experiencing shoulder soreness following his last start against Washington. DeGrom is 6-5 with a 2.87 ERA in 16 starts. Phillies: Former Phillies catcher Darren Daulton was treated and released from a nearby hospital Sunday after falling ill at Citizens Bank Park. Daulton, who was diagnosed with brain cancer last year, participated in the teams alumni weekend. UP NEXT Mets: New York returns home to open a three-game series against NL East-leading Washington on Tuesday night. Rafael Montero (0-2, 5.40) will be called up from Triple-A Las Vegas to start in place of deGrom. Phillies: Philadelphia visits the Los Angeles Angels for a two-game interleague series. Right-hander JeromeWilliams, claimed off waivers Sunday, will start Tuesday night against left-hander C.J.Wilson (8-8, 4.82). Williams was 2-5 with a 6.71 ERA for Texas and Houston this season. He set career highs in games (37), starts (25), innings pitched (169 1-3) and strikeouts (107) last season with the Angels. SHOWING OFF THE ARM Centre fielder Lagares made a perfect throw to the plate to prevent DomonicBrown from scoring on BenReveres single with two outs in the seventh. Brown, who doubled as a pinch-hitter, was out by several feet on Lagares one-hop throw. The ball was already past Blanco on the right-field grass when he made a diving stab, got up and threw him out. cheap nfl jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' '

In Los Angeless 6-0 thumping of the Canadiens on Tuesday night, Jones became the first Kings goaltender to ever record a shutout against Montreal. And he did it in just his third career NHL game. Jones is now 3-0 with a 0.65 goals-against-average and a .973 save percentage. The shutout was also his second in as many nights. "Maybe I didnt expect to get that kind of start, but I dont want to stop here," said Jones. "I want to make sure I keep working. We have a lot of work ahead of us. Were playing some good teams." The 23-year-old from North Vancouver, B.C., earned his first win in his NHL debut last Tuesday, beating the Anaheim Ducks after a nine-round shootout. He followed up by making 16 saves to blank the New York Islanders on Saturday. "Its been nice to get wins in different ways," said Jones. "Thats the sign of a good team, we get wins in different situations." Jones got the start in Montreal in place of BenScrivens, who leads the league in save percentage. And Scrivens is normally backup goaltender to JonathanQuick, whos out with a groin injury. With Quick expected back in a couple of weeks, Jones performance could force head coach Darryl Sutter to make a tough decision down the road. "Whenever Im called upon, theyre going to get my best," said Jones. They got his best on Tuesday at the Bell Centre, where Jones stopped all 30 shots he faced, including a seven-shot opening game flurry with the Canadiens on the power play. "If Jones wasnt making the saves he was making, it could have been a completely different ball game right off the start," said AnzeKopitar, who rewarded his netminder with a goal late in the first period, his ninth of the year. "He came up big for us. That game could have gone the complete opposite way." L.A.s (20-7-4) victory extended its winning streak to four games, snapping Montreals 10-game point streak in the process. The Canadiens (19-10-3) hadnt lost in regulation since Nov. 16, when they were beaten 1-0 by the New York Rangers. They came into Tuesdays game on an 11-1-2 run in which they hadnt conceded more than three goals in a game. But they conceded six on the Kings 30 shots. CareyPrice, whose save percentage dipped to . Nike Air Max 90 Dames Goedkoop. 934 after the game, made 12 saves on 16 shots and was pulled midway through the second frame. "The only thing you can do is get out of this room here, take a look in the mirror, and ask yourself, Did I do what I was supposed to do tonight? Theres not one guy in this room that can say that he did. "We have to understand that this is how hard it is in this league. We have to use it as motivation going forward." The Canadiens came out of the gate with intense pressure, but couldnt find an answer to Joness stellar play. JordanNolan opened the scoring for Los Angeles at 7:03 of the first period, jumping on a big rebound after a WillieMitchell shot from the blue-line bounced off of Prices pads and landed on Nolans stick. Kopitar added to the lead with only 13 seconds remaining in the period, catching Price out of position after winning the faceoff to his right. "We had a quick huddle just before the faceoff," said Kopitar. "We didnt draw it up quite as good as we executed, but well take it. "That was obviously a big momentum changer." The Kings opened the second period ready to build on that momentum. AlecMartinez scored early in the period after Montreal defender AlexeiEmelin lost the puck in his skates in front of the net. TylerToffoli put the Kings ahead 4-0 at 5:28, firing home a big rebound past a sprawling Price, who was pulled after the goal. JakeMuzzin added to the lead on the power play at 8:14, and JustinWilliams made it 6-0 with his team-leading 11th goal at 18:28. Jones was thankful his team did what they could to preserve his shutout bid late in the game. "The guys didnt stop playing even though we had that six-goal lead," said Jones. "Guys continued to block shots and get in lanes, and take away sticks in front of the net." Notes: L.A. hadnt beaten the Canadiens in seven encounters dating back to March 2003. The star-studded blue carpet and a full house of their fans at a completely refurbished Madison Square Garden were there Monday night for the Rangers home opener. All that was missing was New Yorks offence. PeterBudaj made 27 saves for his 11th career NHL shutout, and TomasPlekanec and AlexGalchenyuk provided the scoring as the Canadiens spoiled the Rangers long-awaited homecoming with a 2-0 victory. "I think we did a lot of good things," said Rangers goalie HenrikLundqvist, who made 25 saves after a two-game injury absence. "We just hoped for an early goal for us to get the energy and confidence and get the building going. "It was a disappointing loss, but it was great to be back." Lundqvist was outshined by Budaj, the Canadiens 31-year-old backup to CareyPrice. Budaj was at the top of his game despite playing for only the second time this season and first since Oct. 10 at Edmonton when he stopped 27 of 28 shots in a win. Plekanec scored the go-ahead goal on a power play in the second period. Budaj made it stand up for Montreal (7-5), which had lost three of four since a four-game winning streak. "Our guys were able to keep our ground and tried to box the players out so I can see the pucks," Budaj said. "When I didnt see them, they blocked the shots. When I saw the puck, I was able to make the save." The Canadiens blocked 28 shots. "All our D and forwards were doing the little things right," Budaj said. "It does help tremendously when the team in front of you plays so well and blocks shots." Galchenyuk scored his second of the season with 2:51 left with a goal that stood up to a video review. It was scored just moments after Budaj blocked an in-close chance for MatsZuccarello. "If thats not a kick, I dont know what a kick is," the aggravated Lundqvist said. "Seriously, there needs to be some sort of consistency in the calls. "Its just a frustrating goal there that kind of kills the whole game. It would be very interesting to hear their explanation for it just to know moving forward what the rule really is." New York ended its 3-6 trip with a stirring 3-2 overtime win at Detroit on Saturday. But even with a healthy Lundqvist, the Rangers couldnt build off that momentum. "Guys were so excited. There was a definite energy in the room," forward ChrisKreider said. "The effort was there -- the same effort as Detroit, if not more. We learned from that game and we got better but we didnt get the result we wanted. So go back to the drawing board." Budaj turned aside a quick, hard drive by Kreider by blocking the shott with his glove and deflecting it off the crossbar in the first period. Dave Concepcion Jersey. "I felt pretty solid," Budaj said. "I got a little lucky there at the beginning. I was able to make the save, and it hit the crossbar. You always need a little bit of luck." Kreider was still shaking his head after the game about his missed opportunity. "What net didnt I see? It was wide open," he said after a deep exhaled breath. "Its just another one Ive got to have." JesperFast also took two whacks at the puck while stationed at the right post in the closing minutes of the second period without success. Budajs best stop was perhaps 6 minutes into the third period, when the teams were skating 4-on-4 after interference calls 21 seconds apart. J.T.Miller had a partial breakaway in the Montreal zone and fired a drive that Budaj stopped with his left arm. Miller was denied again by Budaj midway through the third with a hard shot from the right of the crease. Plekanec made it 1-0 scored with 3:26 left in the second period. With BrianBoyle serving a roughing penalty, Montreal used a quick three-man passing play to set up Plekanecs team-leading sixth goal. BrianGionta moved the puck to MichaelBournival, who made a pass to Plekanec, who came in alone on Lundqvist. Plekanec went past Rangers defenceman AntonStralman, skated in on his forehand and shifted the puck to his backhand before depositing a shot behind Lundqvist. "That defenceman, I dont think he made such a great play," Plekanec said. "He kind of opened that lane for me to go to the net." Both teams recorded seven shots in the first period. The Rangers had a 14-11 edge in the second, but couldnt get a puck past Budaj. That has been a common theme for the road-weary Rangers, who were shut out twice during their road trip and managed only 15 goals. Lundqvist showed no signs of injury in his first game back following a week of limited action as he recovered from an undisclosed ailment. He moved well and seemed sharp on most of Montreals chances. Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said he decided on a goalie for Tuesdays game at the Islanders, but didnt reveal his choice. NOTES: The Rangers sent Fast to Hartford of the AHL after the game. Injured forward CarlHagelin is expected to join the lineup Tuesday. ... Budaj improved to 3-1 in four career games against New York. His previous shutout was Feb. 18 against Carolina. ... Gionta, who had only two penalty minutes in his first 10 games, was called for three penalties in the first two periods. ... Kreider was called for interference despite not touching two Canadiens who skated into each other. That negated a breakaway chance for DerickBrassard. ... New York was 0 for 5 on the power play. cheap nfl jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' '

TORONTO - They came into the CFL combine as the top prospects and Pierre Lavertu and David Foucault didnt do anything Sunday to diminish that standing.Nike Roshe Run Damen . The two offensive linemen capped the weekend with solid performances in the one-on-one drills at Varsity Stadium although Foucault, who was battling the flu, also showed he was human. The six-foot-eight, 300-pound tackle was knocked on his backside in a one-on-one matchup with Western defensive end Dylan Ainsworth, who gave up six inches and 75 pounds on the Montreal Carabins offensive lineman. "He did the bullrush and kicked my ass," Foucault said with a chuckle. "I was too high in my stance and he took advantage of my weakness. "It was a good experience here to see all the best guys in Canada as well as the CFL teams. It was a good weekend." Lavertu, a six-foot-three, 300-pound lineman from Laval, and Foucault finished the season ranked second and third, respectively, on the CFL scouting bureaus top-15 prospects for this years draft. McGill tackle Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, who ended up No. 1, didnt attend as hell hold his pro day in Montreal next week for both NFL and CFL officials. That left the offensive line contingent with three of the remaining four top-ranked players Simon Frasers Matthias Goossen ended the year at No. 5. The other was fourth-ranked St. Francis receiver Devon Bailey. Ottawa Redblacks scout Miles Gorrell, who played 19 CFL seasons as an offensive lineman, gushed about the O-line talent at the combine. "Their footwork and hand placement are very good, its clear theyre well coached," Gorrell said. "You see guys like Pierre Lavertu, David Foucault and Matthias Goossen stepping up to the plate and being able to prove to the coaches and scouts theyre ready to take the next step. "But a kid like Jaskaran Dhillon of UBC really impressed me, this was his first year playing on the offensive line. I also thought Terry Hart from Mount Allison did a great job and I also liked Kyle Patterson of Regina and Aaron Wheaton from the U of T." Gorrell also had words of encouragement for Foucault. "Ill guarantee you every offensive lineman has had that day," he said. "You consider a defensive lineman has 12 sacks in 18 games and hes had a great year but that means the offensive line has stopped him 98 per cent of the time. "Its all about how many times did you stop your opponent and David Foucault got beat on one play and Id say he was out there for 30 plays so what would you grade that as? Yes, Dylan Ainsworth rolled him but its going to happen to the best of them ... you just hope it doesnt stay on film forever." Mike OShea, the former CFL standout linebacker whos now the head coach of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, was impressed with Lavertus play. "Polished, he looked very good," OShea said. "Theres a bunch who look ready to go in the CFL and contribute right away." Predictably, Lavertu was hard on his performance Sunday. "I think it was half and half," he said. "I won some, lost some, but overall Im satisfied. "We were up against the best (defensive linemen) in the country and I have to show the scouts Im one of the top-ranked players." Unfortunately for Lavertu and the other prospects, the CFL draft wont be held until May 13. But Lavertu has plenty to keep himself occupied with between now and then. "Ill go back to the gym to make sure I am ready," he said. "Ill work on my core, my leg strength and my technique." Manitobas Evan Gill, the scouting bureaus top-ranked defensive lineman at No. 6, displayed impressive brute strength Sunday. However, not having been in pads since the end of the season took its toll on the six-foot-three 300-pound Winnipeg native. "It was tough knocking the rust off," he said. "Youre getting a lot of reps at once and youre getting gassed out there, its tough moving at that fast pace. "But its not necessarily how you perform, its how you move, how your body works ... theyre the top coaches, theyre professionals and theyll mould you into what they want. Overall, I think the weekend was a success because I met with all nine teams and I wanted to tell them my story and I feel I accomplished that." Laval defensive back Adam Thibault was a standout individually. Thibault, ranked No. 13 on the CFLs top-15 list, had the top 40-yard dash time of 4.454 seconds and also finished first in the left and right agility drills as well as the shuttle. However Thibault, who had a personal-best 18 reps in the bench press Saturday tops among the defensive backs couldnt go in the one-on-one drills due to an apparent hamstring injury. Many prospects showed their versatility Sunday. Concordia defensive lineman Quinn Smith performed quite well lining up as an offensive lineman while both Ainsworth and Saint Marys Nigel Romick also worked with the linebackers. As well, Simon Fraser linebacker Casey Chin was impressive as a long-snapper. Given the limitations of a CFLs 42-man active roster, versatility is a much sought-after commodity by coaches and GMs. "The more you can do the better," Gorrell said. "If you can carry the water jug and get the coaches doughnuts, its all good." Here is a list of all the top performers in each event. MikeTrout, JoshHamilton and KoleCalhoun all homered to help the Los Angeles Angels get their first win of the season with an 11-1 rout of the Houston Astros. After being swept in a three-game series against Seattle to begin the season and scoring just eight runs over the three games, the Angels equaled that in the first six innings Friday. "I think with a game like this, hopefully, we build confidence," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. "Hopefully, on the offensive side we build confidence." Trout hit a solo homer in the first inning and Hamilton hit a three-run drive in the sixth off JeromeWilliams that made it 8-1. After ErickAybars RBI single, Calhoun added a two-run shot off Williams in the seventh. "As competitors, five out of eight games, we are capable of doing something like that," Hamilton said. "The talent is there. We dont go out and try to do that every day. We go out and have the at bats we are going to have. Thats contagious. Thats the mentality we have." Trout also threw out MarcKrauss at the plate in the second inning to keep the Astros off the scoreboard. GarrettRichards (1-0) allowed one run on three hits with five walks and seven strikeouts in five innings. "Its not just me, its all of us," Trout said. "It just happens that I got a home run, but look at Josh tonight. . We just have to keep pushing together, and we pitched well tonight with Garrett getting out of some battles and jams." The Astros loaded the bases in the fifth and sixth innings but were only able to get the one run as Richards struck out Krauss to end the fifth and FernandoSalas struck out MarwinGonzalez and induced an AlexPresley ground out to end the sixth. NEW ORLEANS -- The NFL expects to hold hearings this week on appeals filed in connection with the investigation of the Saints bounty system, a league spokesman said. Nike Air Max 90 Rea . Greg Aiello said Sunday in an email to The Associated Press that he could not confirm who has appealed, citing league policies. He also could not provide the particular days or times that hearings would be held, saying the league leaves announcements of such particulars to those who are filing the appeals. Head coach Sean Payton is appealing his season-long suspension, a person familiar with the situation has told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because no one has announced his plans. General manager Mickey Loomis is appealing his eight-game suspension, assistant head coach Joe Vitt is appealing his six-game suspension and the club is appealing its $500,000 fine and loss of second-round draft picks in 2012 and 2013. The appeals will be heard by Commissioner Roger Goodell in New York. ESPN reported Sunday Payton and Loomis would meet with the commissioner on Tuesday, but Saints spokesman Greg Bensel said he could not confirm that. Payton, Loomis and Vitt were all suspended for their roles in New Orleans bounty system, which offered improper cash bonuses for big hits that either knocked opponents out of games or left them needing help off of the field. Former defensive co-ordinator Gregg Williams, who left the Saints after last season to join the St. Louis Rams, ran the bounty program and has been suspended indefinitely. Paytons suspension was supposed to begin on Sunday, but the commissioner has said since the unprecedented penalties were announced that the Saints coach would likely be allowed to continue working as his appeal was resolved. However, Goodell added that the challenge would be expedited, indicating that Payton would not likely be able to add on much work time should his appeal be upheld. Goodell also said at the NFL owners meetings in Florida that Payton could have some contact with the team but did not go into detail, and Payton indicated that he was still a little unclear about that, as well. With all the uncertainty, Payton is trying to compress as much planning for the 2012 season into whatever time he has left at Saints headquarters. The results of the appeals could affect whether Bill Parcells, who turns 71 in August, comes out of retirement to take over as interim coach while his former offensive assistant and protege is suspended. Parcells has said he would consider coaching the Saints if asked. Payton and Loomis played golf with the former NFL coach last week to talk to him about the teams predicament. If Paytons suspension is reduced, however, the Saints could decide it makes more sense to promote an assistant from the current staff. Vitt could be a candidate to step in as interim coach, as he did briefly last season when Payton broke his leg, if his own suspension is reduced. There are also three strong candidates among Saints assistants to take over as interim coach: offensive co-ordinator Pete Carmichael, defensive co-ordinator Steve Spagnuolo and offensive line coach Aaron Kromer. Payton expressed confidence in the abilities of his own assistants to compensate for his absence, but also has voiced some misgivings about saddling those coaches with additional responsibilities. Since his suspension was announced, Payton has been putting in long hours with his staff and that of Loomis as they try to lay out plans for the 2012 draft and season. Loomis will be able to oversee the draft and handle other roster moves up until the season starts. Then, barring a successful appeal, he will serve his suspension for failing to put a stop to the bounty system in a timely way. Payton said earlier this week that he had already laid out plans for the off-season training program and the beginning of training camp, up until the Saints play Arizona in the Hall of Fame game Aug. 5 in Canton, Ohio. The NFLs investigation in New Orleans found that Payton initially lied to league investigators about the existence of a bounty program and instructed his defensive assistants to do the same. It also found that Loomis did not do enough to put a stop to the enterprise after he was informed that the league was looking into it. Payton twice apologized for his role in the bounty program, saying he takes "full responsibility" for a system that operated for three years under his watch. The NFL has said as many as 27 players also could be sanctioned for their role in the scandal, but it is not yet clear when that might happen, creating additional uncertainty for New Orleans and some teams that have signed former Saints defensive regulars as they tried to build their 2012 rosters. DeMaurice Smith, executive director of the NFL Players Association, told the website Pro Player Insiders that the league hasnt turned over what the union would consider direct evidence of player involvement in a pay to injure scheme. "If there is direct evidence of a pay to injure scheme implicating players or anybody involved," Smith said, "we are asking the league to turn over that information." Nike Air Max 90 Vt Camouflage . Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema scored two goals each Wednesday night in a 6-1 rout of Schalke in the first leg of their second-round matchup. "I feel good," the 34-year-old said after the morning skate in advance of Game 1 of the Stanley Cup final against the New York Rangers. "I had a chance to practise a little bit, had a little bit of contact." But Regehr said his guess was coach Darryl Sutter would go with the same lineup as last time, given the overtime win over Chicago in Game 7 of the Western Conference final. Sutter also indicated Regehrs time woould likely come later. Nike Air Max 90 Dam Sverige. "Hes getting closer," he said. "With only the one game, the way its broke out this week, we probably wouldnt play him tonight." Game 2 of the series goes Saturday. Regehr, who has played 1,022 regular-season NHL games, was part of Sutters Calgary Flames team that lost the 2004 Cup final to the Tampa Bay Lightning. Asked what he wanted to do differently this time, Regehr said: "Win, simple as that." EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. Orlando Cepeda Cardinals Jersey . -- The Minnesota Vikings figured to be as vulnerable to the effects of the NFL lockout as any other team, with a first-year head coach, a rookie quarterback and a new offence to install. They had a lot to lose during the four-month-plus work stoppage, and lose is exactly what they did once the season started -- 13 times, matching the most in the franchises 51-year history. The roster needs significant upgrades. Coach Leslie Fraziers staff could turn over. Big changes on offence and defence will be considered. For the players, who exchanged hugs, handshakes and cellphone numbers Monday morning in parting for a while, the focus is on working harder and getting better together. "Its an exciting day. It really is," defensive end JaredAllen said as he packed up his belongings. Several key players spoke of an urgency to use the next several months as the head start on 2012 they didnt have in 2011. "Were going to grind this off-season," said receiver PercyHarvin, who finished with a career-high 967 yards receiving, 345 yards rushing and nine total touchdowns, one of the true bright spots on another dark year for the Vikings along with Allens 22 sacks. "I think well be a different ballclub next year." Harvin is one of several important players who in the past have done much of their winter, spring and summer training away from Minnesota. Then came the lockout last year, and none of the Vikings were allowed to even enter the facilities at Winter Park. But Harvin said hes encouraged as many players as possible to show up for the off-season practices, known around the league as organized team activities. Only the annual weekend minicamp is contractually required, and its not unusual for veterans and higher-profile players to work out on their own the rest of the time until training camp begins, but theres an obvious drive here to improve on the embarrassment and the frustration of the third-worst record in the NFL. "There should be no excuse why nobody should be there, except for emergencies and stuff like that," Harvin said. Quarterback ChristianPonder expressed the same attitude. The first-round draft pick took over as the starter for an ineffective DonovanMcNabb late in the sixth game of the season and showed plenty of poise, confidence and potential over his first few weeks on the job. But the turnovers piled up down the stretch, he didnt stay healthy and backup JoeWebb played better than Ponder in each of the three games he relieved him for injury or performance reasons. "We have to spend a lot of time this off-season, especially on the offensive side of the ball learning this offence and growing comfortable with it," Ponder said. He added: "Getting that rookie experience under the belt is huge. "It will be good to get a full off-season with the team and understand that part of it." Offensive co-ordinator Bill Musgraves playcalls and gameplans drew plenty of criticism, but the absence of off-season workouts and the midseason switch to a rookie quarterback prevented him from rolling out the whole scheme and maximizing the opportunities for creativity. Frazier tried after Sundays season-ending loss to Chicago to quell any uncertainty about Ponders status as the starter, but his hip pointer, his concussion and his interceptions at least complicated the situation because of how well Webb played in relief. Granted, defences didnt prepare their game plans to stop him, but the Vikings have an exceptional athlete who theyve otherwise struggled to use effectively. Time after time when Musgrave tried to put Webb in for special running plays -- they called it the "Blazer" package -- he was stopped for no gain or lost yardage. More action at receiver is a possibility, but he hasnt proven yet he can be a reliable route runner and pass catcher despite his speed. "Once we get the full off-season and get things together and see what we need to do to be successful in 2012, its going to be dangerous," Webb said. The healing ability and recovery power of running back AdrianPeterson, who had reconstructive surgery on his left knee last week, will be another critical factor toward improvement. So will the draft, when the Vikings will pick third in each round. But the defence might be the most vital area. Defensive co-ordinator Fred Pagacs status is tenuous. The Vikings must decide whether to bring back middle linebacker E.J.Henderson, who is a free agent who will be 33 years old before next season. Then there is the secondary, in dire need of an upgrade. The Vikings had only eight interceptions and gave up 34 touchdowns passing. Allen said hed "fight" to keep Pagac. "What decisions are going to be made are going to be made. I just know I appreciate our coaching staff and I appreciate everything theyve put into this season, especially with the injuries and the way things panned out. Its easy to disconnect, and no one did," Allen said. Indeed, there was a palpable sense from the players down the stretch despite all the losing that they genuinely enjoyed each other and were willing to keep working hard even when the playoffs became impossible. "It was tied for our worst season in our organizations history, but you look around the locker room and youve got a lot of friends and teammates you played with and played hard with. You cant look at somebody and say, You quit on us, " linebacker ChadGreenway said, adding: "Youve got to save that at least." Anibal Sanchez Tigers Jersey . Atletico built a provisional three-point advantage over Barcelona before the defending champion hosts Elche on Sunday. Barcelona then visits Atletico in the following round. "We will have to wait and see if Barcelona wins tomorrow to stay leader, as it is accustomed to doing," Atletico coach Diego Simeone said.Yadier Molina Cardinals Jersey . -- U.S. captain TomWatson said Monday that TigerWoods latest back injury "doesnt bode well right now" for Woods playing in the Ryder Cup.It was a night for NHL teams to even up their respective playoff series, as the Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars and Chicago Blackhawks all won to get their series to 2-2. Scott Cullen has notes on BrandonDubinsky, JackJohnson, ShawnHorcoff, AlexGoligoski, PatrickKane, BenSmith and more. MY MORNING JACKETS The Pittsburgh Penguins coughed up a 3-0 lead and lost 4-3 in overtime to the Columbus Blue Jackets, leaving the series tied at two games apiece. To this point in the series, the most valuable Blue Jacket has been C BrandonDubinsky who, in addition to spending his time matched up against Penguins star C SidneyCrosby, Dubinsky contributed a goal and an assist, giving him a team-leading six points in the series. Dubinsky has earned a reputation as a solid two-way forward who can play tough minutes, facing top-tier opposition but, in this series, hes been more assertive offensively and thats the kind of performance that the Blue Jackets need to knock off the higher-seeded Penguins. Crosby was held off the scoresheet, and had a negative Corsi, for the first time in the series in Game Four. Blue Jackets C RyanJohansen had a goal and an assist, giving him five points in four games, and his line -- with rookie LW BooneJenner and journeyman RW JackSkille -- got the better of Pittsburghs second line of EvgeniMalkin, JussiJokinen and JamesNeal. Penguins G Marc-AndreFleury was having a decent game, but turned the puck over leading to Dubinskys tying goal, then the winning goal was a 65-foot wrist shot from Blue Jackets LW NickFoligno. Considering Fleurys dubious playoff history, he and the Penguins cant afford to have those kinds of gaffes appear with the game on the line. Blue Jackets D JackJohnson played a game-high 31:12, mostly against Crosby, and, for the first time in the series, was break-even in terms of shot attempts for and against during 5-on-5 play. Score effects or not, given that they were chasing for much of the game, the Blue Jackets will take it. For the fourth consecutive game, Penguins D PaulMartin recorded a pair of assists. He has eight points to lead all playoff scorers. Blue Jackets D JamesWisniewski also had a pair of assists and had nine unblocked shot attempts, his first points of the series, and had a game-high plus-15 Corsi. With the series even, the Blue Jackets arent carrying play, but theyre not getting dominated either. If G SergeiBobrovsky can give them a few solid games, they can put pressure on Fleury and the Penguins. SHOOTING STARS The Dallas Stars evened their series with the Anaheim Ducks, taking Game Four by a 4--2 score, rallying to score four unanswered goals after falling behind 2-0. Keith Hernandez Cardinals Jersey. Anaheim came into the game with some lineup changes, making veteran RW TeemuSelanne a healthy scratch, and then missing C RyanGetzlaf due to an upper-body injury. As a result, C RickardRakell and RW EmersonEtem were inserted into the lineup. Dallas line of ShawnHorcoff, VernonFiddler and ColtonSceviour was particularly effective. Horcoff and Fiddler each had two points and the trio was on for more than two-thirds of even strength shot attempts. Ducks D FrancoisBeauchemin, who played a team-high 27:14, got eaten up in terms of puck possession, finishing minus-14 (29.4% Corsi%) On the other hand, Stars D AlexGoligoski logged 32:48, scored a goal and, through the first four games, is running a 56.7% Corsi%. Needless to say, if the Ducks dont have Getzlaf back in the lineup, in a hurry, then they are really vulnerable to be upset. KANE COMES THROUGH Blackhawks RW PatrickKane scored his second goal of the game, 11:17 into overtime, giving Chicago a 4-3 win in Game Four, tying the series at two games apiece. In the third period, the Blackhawks shifted BenSmith into the middle on the line with Kane and PatrickSharp, and that unit created several scoring chances before connecting on the winner. Smith had the best Corsi differential (+13), and percentage (74.1%), among Blackhawks forwards. Blackhawks defencemen NickLeddy and Michal Roszival had a tremendous game, carrying possession against weaker competition. They matched up most frequently against the Blues line of MaximLapierre, SteveOtt and ChrisPorter. While Lapierre scored St. Louis second goal late in the second period, that line was dominated possession-wise. Leddy was on for 26 shot attempts for and five shot attempts against (83.9%). When Leddy was off the ice, the Blackhawks were virtually even (50.6%) in possession terms. Blackhawks C JonathanToews added two assists, giving him five points through the first four games of the series. Blues RW VladimirTarasenko continued to find the net, scoring a pair of goals to give him four goals in four games for the series. Having tied the series, the Blackhawks are likely in a slightly better position going forward, particularly as long as St. Louis C DavidBackes remains out of the lineup, but this is an even series. Literally, both teams have a 50.0% Fenwick Close (unblocked shot attempts) for the series. The Anaheim Ducks dodged the debris and kept moving toward the post-season with a gritty win over their biggest rivals. PatrickMaroon scored the go-ahead goal, FrederikAndersen made 37 saves, and the Ducks beat the Kings 2-1 on Saturday night for their third straight win in the Freeway Faceoff. Andersen and the Pacific Division leaders barely held off the Kings, who had a 38-20 shots advantage. The Ducks still showed remarkable resilience in another bruising chapter of this rivalry. TimJackman scored an early goal for the Ducks, who won back-to-back games at Colorado and Los Angeles after a four-game skid knocked them from their longtime perch atop the overall NHL standings. Anaheim leads San Jose by two points in the division standings, and the Kings are well back in third place. "Its going to be tough for the Kings to catch us now," Anaheim coach Bruce Boudreau said. "Were up 15 points on them with 14 games to play. They were playing so well. We didnt think they were going to lose another game all year. It was important for us to come in here and show we could measure up to them." TylerToffoli scored a power-play goal and MartinJones stopped 18 shots for the Kings, whose eight-game winning streak was snapped Thursday by Toronto. Los Angeles had won each of Anaheims last five visits to Staples Center since November 2011. The late-game controversy added to the lively rivalry in the Southern California clubs first meeting since their outdoor game at Dodger Stadium on Jan. 25. Kopitars shot through traffic hit Andersens crossbar and apparently rattled in, but the officials immediately waved off any goal, later announcing Andersen had been hit. "The puck was in, but there was some contact," Andersen said. "I couldnt really stop the puck. The ref did the right thing and made the right call." Replays showed the puck barely crossed the goal line while MarianGaborik and Anaheims JakobSilfverberg were next to Andersen. Los Angeles coach Darryl Sutter leaned onto the ice to disagree, and the crowd made its displeasure known. &"They called it that I touched the goalie before the puck went in," Gaborik said. Dozens of fans threw drinks, water bottles and concession items on the ice, prompting a short pause in play while employees with snow shovels removed the garbage. "I dont know why everybody is getting wound up about that," Boudreau said. "They ran into our goalie. I thought it should have been a penalty, frankly. ... Ive seen a lot less things get called for penalties." Jackman put the Ducks ahead late in the first period with his fourth goal of the season, coming out of the corner to score on a slick pass from MathieuPerreault. The Kings evened it on a power-play goal midway through the second period when JarretStolls shot hit Andersens pads and went straight to Toffoli for just his second goal in 26 games since Dec. 19. "I think we didnt play the best that we could," Toffoli said. "But I think we know now that the rest of the season here we have to play hard and play the right way." Los Angeles hadnt scored against Anaheim in more than 148 consecutive minutes, going scoreless against their rivals since Kopitars first-period goal early in their last meeting at Honda Center, two days before JonasHillers shutout in Chavez Ravine. PITTSBURGH -- Yes, that was SidneyCrosby shooting pucks, skating hard from end to end and going through a full practice. nfl jerseys china . No, its not time yet for Pittsburgh Penguins fans to start getting excited. Still missing is an all-clear sign for hockeys long-absent star to begin getting hit again, even if its only in practice. A target date for Crosbys next comeback also remains indefinite, just as it has since early December. Crosby, limited for weeks to on-ice work with other injured players, practised with his teammates Thursday at the Penguins suburban practice rink, only the third time hes skated with them since he last played on Dec. 5. Penguins coach DanBylsma cautioned that Crosbys status hasnt changed, even if this was his most extensive on-ice work in weeks. "A chance to get on the ice with some more players," Bylsma said Thursday. "He was out there with our team for the entire practice, although he did not participate in the contact drills that we did have. Well see how he progresses and where hes at in terms of getting on the ice." Concussion-related issued have limited Crosby to eight games over the last 14 months, a considerable stretch for the NHL to be without its showcase star. Lately, Crosby has worked out on a near daily basis with conditioning coach Mike Kadar and any other sidelined players in advance of practice. On Thursday, however, Crosby chose to skate with the full team, even though forward TylerKennedy (high ankle sprain) was available to work out with in advance of practice. Bylsma wouldnt say if this means Crosby is getting closer to being cleared for full participation in practice, a necessary step before he can play in NHL games again. "Sometimes it (Crosbys routine) is dictated on if its an optional (practice) or how many people will be out there," Bylsma said. While the Penguins (34-21-5) have only 22 remaining regular-season games, they are hopeful their sidelined superstar can return at some point. But as the season winds down and Crosby remains out -- he now hasnt played for nearly three months -- the Penguins still have no realistic idea when he will be ready. Crosby wont even begin to guess when it might happen, and neither will anyone associated with the team. The uncertainly might be affecting what general manager Ray Shero wants to do in advance of Mondays trading deadline. If Crosby was playing, Shero almost certainly would be looking to add a forward capable of playing alongside his team captain. But with no comeback date in sight, it might not be prudent for the Penguins to rent a player for a role that might not need filling. Shero, usually among the most active GMs at the deadline, has given no indication what his priority is. Since taking over as the Penguins general manager in 2006, Shero has added forwards such as MarianHossa, JamesNeal, PascalDupuis, ChrisKunitz, BillGuerin, GaryRoberts and AlexeiPonikarovsky at or near the deadline. Neal, Dupuis and Kunitz remain with the team. But, for now, the Penguins are so crowded with forwards that they assigned CalOReilly, recently picked up on waivers from Phoenix, to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL) on Thursday. And centre DustinJeffrey, who filled in on the No. 2 line during JordanStaals recent injury absence, was a healthy scratch for a 2-0 win over the Rangers on Tuesday. The Penguins play back-to-back home games this weekend against Tampa Bay (Saturday) and Columbus (Sunday). jerseys from china . "Obee and I feel very happy that we raced a race that earned Canada a berth in the 2012 Olympics," said Jennerich, the 2010 world champion in the event. "I think that the race today was for the nation and tomorrow, we can go out there and race for ourselves and see just how fast we can go. "Im really proud of the maturity and poise that Obee has showed thus far at this regatta, and after only two races with her I feel she has earned absolute trust from me." Eric Murray and Hamish Bond of New Zealand dominated the race to win in 6:14.77, less than a second off the worlds best time. The lightweight mens double of Doug Vandor of Dewittville, Que., and Cam Sylvester of Caledon, Ont., finished sixth in their semi to move into the B final. The pair will have to finish in top five (or 11th overall) in the B final to achieve Olympic qualification. The mens four was also sixth in its semi. Montreals Derek OFarrell, Will Dean of Kelowna, Winnipegs Kevin Kowalyk and Vancouvers Anthony Jacob will row in the B final and can still qualify the boat for the Olympics with a fifth-place finish. The womens double of Kerry Shaffer of Welland, Ont., and Emily Cameron of Summerside, P.E.I., finished first in the C final in 7:02.98 to finish 13th overall. cheap nfl jerseys cheap jerseys ' ' '
